Posted by: Josh. Feb 14 2017, 12:44 AM

Hi and welcome to a new feature that will take a closer look at the nominees in each of the categories for the upcoming Oscars in February. This one is looking at the five films up for Best Animated Film at this year's awards:

BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM

The nominees are:
Kubo and the Two Strings – Travis Knight and Arianne Sutner
Moana – John Musker, Ron Clements, and Osnat Shurer
My Life as a Zucchini – Claude Barras and Max Karli
The Red Turtle – Michaël Dudok de Wit and Toshio Suzuki
Zootopia – Byron Howard, Rich Moore, and Clark Spencer

What do you think will win? What would you like to win? How many of these have you seen so far? What films are you sad about missing the cut? Discuss anything you like!!

Here are the latest odds too (with Bet 365) just to see how things are likely to pan out:

Zootopia - 1/10
Kubo and the Two Strings - 11/1
Moana - 20/1
My Life As a Zucchini - 50/1
The Red Turtle - 50/1

I would REALLY like 'Moana' to pull off an upset & win, but it's 100% going to 'Zootropolis'! The story in 'Zootropolis' seems very relevant to society today and I think the Academy will lap that up!

Yeah, I think Zootropolis has this wrapped up really but I'd far prefer either of Moana or Kubo tbh, I enjoyed them way more and I guess they have a small chance as they're both up for 2 Oscars in comparison to just 1 for the other nominees here! ohmy.gif

I've only seen the three mainstream nominees here so far but I'd like to see My Life As a Zucchini when it finally gets released here, I think it looks really interesting. Not so interested in The Red Turtle though laugh.gif

Would be absolutely DELIGHTED with Kubo or Zootropolis winning here and I think one of them will! Both really deserved more nominations all round the categories sad.gif

Zootropolis for number one.

HAS to be Zootropolis, one of the best movies of last year, not just in animated terms. Wouldn't mind an upset from Moana but I'd prefer it to do that in Original Song.

Do not need Kubo repeating the BAFTA win. Trolls or Dory should be up instead.
