I feel like the public has a real sympathy for Nicola, although she's not hugely popular, and it could help her to launch her solo career.
She could easily be more popular than Nadine, and probably more "credible" than Cheryl (ie no backlash about her singing, etc.).
I can see her having a success à la Ellie Goulding. Oh and I would love some solo Nicola material
I would LOVE a solo Nicola album (although would obviously prefer a Girls Aloud album)
Doubt it will ever materialise though..
I'd prefer a Kimberley album, and I reckon she'd be the only other member to get any kind of success. She doesn't have the best voice, but she's definitely better than Cheryl and the public love Kimberley as it is.
^hm, I feel like Kimb is the member the public forget about, whereas the others are in the press much more? She does have that Viva show i guess.
I could actually see her being the 'Mel C' of Girls Aloud. Decent commercial success, by far the best songs and the most critical acclaim.
Would love a Nicola album. She's my favourite voice of the five.
She's not that good and I can't imagine her being successful solo, mind you I guess it really depends what kind of deal/publicity/backing she gets as that's the essential thing.
I've always considered Nicola to be the Siobhan of Girls Aloud. Meaning if she went solo she would create masterpieces but she'd never succeed commercially.
apparently there will be news of Nicola having signed a deal with Universal in tomorrow's NOTW. Exciting
Can't wait!
Just rediscovering GA's songs again after a bit of a break It all started off this week when Jump played at work
Nic last night on a night out with the other girls (minus Nadine) and the BEP :
http://4.imagebam.com/dl.php?ID=109506681&sec=d9efa8d5fd918051ea82f4d28eda565d
She looks f***ING INCREDIBLE !
The link doesn't open Says that hotlinking isn't allowed.
I love Nicola. I think she'd make amazing music( and I mean Amazing) but not too sure if she'd be a success. But i'm Behind her all the way!!
It apparently is inspired by Robyn and M.I.A.. I love M.I.A. (Robyn too, but to a much lesser degree) so I'm definitely gonna check out Nicolas stuff to see what it's like!! Hopefully it's better than Nadines.. (which was disappointing) and I have no doubt it's better than Cheryl's solo stuff.
This is definitely one of my most anticipated albums of the year. Nadine always had the strongest voice for me, but Nicola has the most interesting/unique, and you feel like she'd make the most exciting album certainly. I love the fragile quality to her voice, she's made so many of GA's songs somehow haunting and much deeper.
Her album is in my anticipated list too She actually has my fave GA voice Nicola > Nadine > Cheryl > Sarah > Kimberley
I love Nadine's, Cheryl's (yeah I went there!) and Sarah's voice too though Cheryl makes the best music thus far, wonder if Nicola can match the brilliance of 3W and MLR?
Sounds promising after hearing who shes inspired by, was confused to how she would sound.
I'll be very happy even if we get album full of 'It's Magic's.
Do you think she'lll do better than Nadine?
Well it'll be very embarrassing for her if she doesn't
Not like it would be hard to beat Nadine. But considering she is probably the least popular member from the general public just knowing her as 'the ugly ginger one' It will be hard for her to do well imo. Hopefully the song will be KILLER though and she will blow people away and all the dickheads will finally realize just how talented she is!
Nicola Loon Here!
SO excited for this, really hope it comes soon. Nicola has always been my favourite, since Popstars: The Rivals was on TV.
Glad she's going down a more interesting, less poppy route. As someone mentioned Siobhan Donaghy, if this album is even HALF as incredible as 'Ghosts' then she'll have an amazing album.
Single is out on Friday!!
The Sun confirms the album title is 'Cinderella's Eyes' and that it's due in Autumn!
This is AMAZING. The best title for a Girls Aloud related project everrrrrrr.
I've pre ordered it from her website, its says expected release date: October 3rd.
I reaaaaally can't wait, it's gonna be amazing <3
5 more months to wait before we get the album then
I dunno how I'm gonna deat with the wait !
I just need the single to tide me over!!
Me too. Is that the official single cover though, I don't rly like the font haha.
I can see her having Diana type success ... I'd think Radio 1 will support her hugely.
Title is WONDERFUL! A shame that there's such a long wait until we get it, but that's her birthday I think, so that's sweet of her.
Ridiculously excited about this. It sounds like it will avoid the general 'budget' feel of Nadine's solo material, and the generic US sound of some of Cheryl's. I love the fact that it sounds typically British and the snippets of the lyrics posted on PJ sound brilliant - she was always my second favourite GA member after Nadine, who to me was the whole package. Vocally though, Nicola was always the one I'd be most interested in solo material by and it's excellent that it's happening and all sounding great! She'll be the Mark Owen of Girls Aloud (respectable pop garnering respectable success) to Cheryl's Robbie Williams (not the lead singer but a huge megastar alone) and Nadine's Gary Barlow (flop lead singer )
Here's Nicola's explanation of the album's title, plus some lyrics from the title track:
YEYYY she tweeted me on her Q&A a second ago, she told me she has co-wrote every track on the album
Also she said there is a track called 'Bite Me' on the album (which she said is her favourite at the moment) And Porcelain Heart WILL be on the album!!
I had a feeling Nic would be co writing.
A new song confirmed; "Sticks And Stones", which Nicola wrote over an Eminem beat. Interesting...
I like porcelain heart. Glad its made the album
A new demo from the album, "Dance In the Rain", has leaked. You can listen http://aloudsound.net/view/1989/nicola-roberts-dance-in-the-rain-new-demo-song/. It sounds alright, although it definitely needs improving to live up to "Beat of My Drum" and "Porcelain Heart".
Got this from a poster on SIN:
I like "Dance In The Rain".
I am eager for her t4 on the beach appearance. That will show her as an artist to the public.
I love "Dance the rain" (and not "Dance in the rain" ) ! It doesn't even sound that demo-ish to me !
I really like "Lucky day" too, judging from the LQ videos of her live performance.
This album is shaping up to be AMAZING.
Lucky Day was amazing at Newcastle I want the album now!
If the singles flop, will we even get the album? :/
But girls can't catch were in a different scenario. Bearing in mind that Nicola is from one of Britain's top girlbands so she already has exposure, an established fan base and the fact people know the name Nicola Roberts.
Girls can't catch were unknown to the british public and had to work hard to build a fan base.
There's a live recording of 'Lucky Day' from Radio City Live floating around the web if anyone wants it.
I think they said it was MQ.
Apparently this is released on 26th September now (a week earlier than originally planned) According to wikipedia, Play and HMV
Rumoured cover + tracklist:
01.”Beat of My Drum”
02.”Dance in the Rain”
03.”Pretty Persuasion”
04.”Sticks & Stones”
05.”Porcelain Heart”
06.”Take a Bite”
07.”Dating”
08.”I”
09.”Yo Yo”
10.”Cinderella’s Eyes”
11.”Lucky Day”
12.”Been There, Done That”
13.”Want You (So Bad)”
14.”Wanna Dance”
15.”Disco, Blisters & a Comedown”
I hope it's fake. It looks really fan made
Apparently she said on her twitter (I think?) that she can't wait for people see the amazing photoshoot for the album...and this is a photo we've seen before. Hopefully it's fake anyway!
I don't mind that artwork, but it's pretty unlikely that they'd use a photo where her face is covered if they're trying to establish her as an artist. Loving the length of the tracklist though! But it would seem a bit odd to include both of the B-sides, so it might not be real...?
It's a digital B-side. Just like 'Single Ladies' was to 'If I Were a Boy' for Beyoncé.
It's fake because Nicola just tweeted that they're meeting to arrange the running order for her album.
Its 26th of September not 29th
I shall be back at HMV to sell it
This is really shaping up to be the best album of the year.
My mini-Nicola Roberts EP is already the best album of the year :
01. Beat of my drum
02. Porcelain heart
03. Disco, blisters and a comedown
04. Dance in the rain
05. Luck day (live)
Bonuses :
06. It's magic
07. I say a prayer for you
Nicola did tweet to say Porcelain Heart is an album track, and that Disco, Blisters and a Comedown will be the BOMD b-side.
This has leaked, not sure if it has been mentioned anywhere else:
LOVING it
DITR is so brilliant, not as good as Lucky Day or BOMD but it bodes well for the album, which surely is gonna be in the top 5 best of the year at this rate!
From Monday:
Does Dance In The Rain sample Sway? It sounds quite similar in the verses.
Cinderella's Eyes - pre-order, artwork and tracklisting revealed
http://www.nicolarobertsmusic.com/news/2011/08/cinderella-eyes-pre-order-artwork-tracklisting/
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING.
Dragonette are on this too, it might just be album of the year
Nicola looks beautiful on the album cover. I'm anticipating this album so much now, very excited for it!
Is 'Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime' a cover of The Korgis version? Doesn't sound like it's a song Nicola would do though
I love that artwork! She looks gorgeous. I'm really excited for this now, hopefully it lives up to my expectations. I'm not too disappointed about 'Dance in the Rain' not being there either, it's my least favourite of the songs we've heard already.
I'm really excited for this now, amazing artwork and 2 fabulous singles
Artwork is absolutely stunning. Shame there's only 12 tracks and that Dance The Rain is missing. But I'm SO excited now!
Nicola will be signing copies of the album (and presumably any singles) at HMV in Liverpool on September 27 (the album's release date) at 5pm. http://t.co/VGvX7iJ. I'd love to go, but by the time it's out, I'll have started sixth form. I will see her/live one day!
MASSIVE NITPICK ALERT. I really wish this was called Cinderella Eyes. Cinderella's Eye just looks ugly. Also, can't believe they didn't use this photo for the cover:
To answer your two points, it's Cinderella's Eyes, and they used the photo (presumably) because she's acting as Cinderella in it.
Would Cinderella Eyes even make sense?
And I think the cover is perfection.
It doesn't need to make much sense, Eye's just randomly irks me for absolutely no reason. Haha.
I thought the reason for the title was like "looking through Cinderella's Eyes".
Anyway, love all the artwork for this album.
There's previews of 'YoYo' 'Sticks and Stones' and 'I' on Itunes from the Cinderella's Eyes Mini-Mix that is available as a pre-order with the Lucky Day single.
All 3 sound brilliant! Can't wait!
http://itunes.apple.com/gb/preorder/lucky-day-ep/id455845438
'Sticks and Stones' sounds a bit odd, she doesn't seem in time with the music - perhaps that's just from the clip.
'I' is SO Metronomy! I love it.
Sticks and Stones is my fave out of the 3 from them previews. I'm sure they will all be amazing in full though.
There is 90 second previews of all the tracks on the album on Itunes - http://t.co/OMeAFkG
Sounds brilliant. Cannot wait!!
Full version of Sticks + Stones
I am in LOVE with this after one listen despite the 'Jar of Hearts' resemblances here and there
It's absolutely stunning, had tears in my eyes listening to it. Very sad song. I can see that being my favourite on the album
Sticks + Stones is all kinds of amazing! My fave so far and I love both singles!!
I never would have thought Nicola's material would be my fave.
Hope her album is a success!
'Sticks + Stones' is seriously beautiful, obviously such a heartfelt song for her.
Incredible. The spoken part before the last chorus is amazing.
"Sticks + Stones" is without a doubt... her best song (so far).
After listening to the album preview on iTunes, I am no longer awaiting this album. Her voice gets really irritating if you hear it too often. There's some sort of shrill to it.
Sticks And Stones is just amazing... Best thing we've heard so far for sure
I am not a massive fan of Nicola's voice to be honest with you, but 'Sticks & Stones' is stunning and the lyrics are fabulous
I'm not sure how I feel about 'Sticks + stones' just yet. I think it'll probably grow, but it's definitely the least instant of all the songs I've heard so far. The lyrics sound a bit shoehorned in, and don't really flow very well, especially during the middle eight.
I LOVE Sticks + Stones. It's just beautiful I think.
'I' sounds wonderful! Definitely my favourite from the clips.
I think this is going to be my favourite album ever, even more than Girls Aloud albums and that is saying something, every song sounds amazing, and even the b-sides are perfection.
Not a big fan of Sticks + Stones but I do think the lyrics during the breakdown/spoken part are outstanding.
'sticks + stones' the next single?
I think Yo-Yo may be the next single (If she gets to release another one that is)
Nicola performing 'I' for NME -
http://www.nme.com/nme-video/nicola-roberts---i-exclusive/1172848649001
Brilliant performance, she seems so much more confident in this than any others I've seen her in.
My album's been shipped! And it got reduced to £7.99 on HMV, which I am pleased about!
Listen to 5 FULL tracks from Cinderella's Eyes! http://music.uk.msn.com/xclusives/nicola-roberts/listen-to-five-tracks-from-nicola-roberts-album
Yo-Yo Really love it, so good and not too far away from Girls Aloud's material! I is a bit disappoiting though, kinda dull Loving Take A Bite too, quite old school!
'Take a Bite' is easily the best thing I've heard from this era thus far. Excellent production, chorus and that rap!
In all honesty I'm a bit disappointed in the project as a whole, something just hasn't clicked. A lack of energy in the music? Personality? I'm not sure but I ENDEVOUR to get to the bottom of it.
"Gladiator" is my favourite song.
After first listen -
Porcelain Heart - 11
Sticks + Stones - 10
Lucky Day - 10
Beat Of My Drum - 10
Yo-Yo - 10
Gladiator - 10
Take A Bite - 9.5
Cinderella's Eyes - 9
Say It Out Loud - 8
Fish Out Of Water - 8
I - 7.5
Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime - 7
Brilliant album. Every track a 7 or above after 1 listen, but I think some of the will grow. Need to go listen more!
On my first listen now, loving 'Fish Out of Water'.
On the whole, VERY impressed. I had high expectations for this album and I'd say they've pretty much been reached. 'I', 'Take A Bite' and 'Yo-Yo' would be some of my highlights from the non-singles.
'Fish Out Of Water' is actually the only one that's failing to really click with me for now. But definitely the best album from any solo Girls Aloud project to date.
Not gonna listen till Monday, but I have listened to I, Yo-Yo and Take A Bite, which are all AMAZING! Especially the latter.
Beat Of My Drum - 6.5
Lucky Day - 8.0
Yo-Yo - 9.0
Cinderella's Eyes - 9.5
Porcelian Heart - 10.0
I - 7.5
Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometimes - 8.0
Say It Out Loud - 9.5
Gladiator - 9.5
Fish Out Of Water - 6.5
Take A Bite - 9.5
Sticks + Stones - 11.0
Fabulous album. Far better than the singles for me, I like Lucky Day and Beat Of My Drum was good but I find it really boring now, there are far better songs on the album than the singles. Nicola has proves, despite not having the best voice, she is a brilliant songwriter (expecially on 'I' and 'Sticks & Stones') and she can make fantastic melodies. I love the production on the album aswell. I wish they had put Dance In The Rain on the album though, instead of mabye 'Fish Out Of Water' which I am finding just alright, it seems to bringing down the amazing second half of the album.
She's done a cover of EGLS? I'm d/ling the album now - shall give my verdict when I listen!
First listen rate:
09 Beat Of My Drum
09.5 Lucky Day
09 Yo-Yo
08 Cinderella's Eyes
11 Porcelain Heart
06 I
07.5 Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime
09 Say It Out Loud
10 Gladiator
06 Fish Out Of Water
09 Take A Bite
10 Sticks & Stones
I'm shooting bullets from my chest, I'm Superwoman Bitches!
Best line ever.
Positions on Irish iTunes:
#103. Sticks + Stones
#104. Lucky Day (and #151)
#252. Porcelain Heart
#514. Cinderella's Eyes
#527. Take A Bite
#528. Gladiator
#529. Say it Out Loud
#530. Everybody's got to learn Sometime
#531. Beat of My Drum
You can tell sales are verry low & close together when 5 of the songs are right after another...
Nice to see Sticks + Stones up there. Epic song.
This is been on repeat all night, fitting in a song every advert break in Big Brother and X Factor USA. Just pure brilliance.
I've pre-ordered the album and it's been dispatched - will hopefully come tomorrow, looking forward to hearing it!
Such a strong album! Will definitely be buying this on Monday.
'Take a Bite' is my favourite at the moment, it'll hopefully be a single at some point.
The rap is amazing, love how her accent really comes through in it... 'they're gonna eat all their words, they're talking absolute shit'. Amazing. And that INTRO! Think I might just have a new obsession.
My copy and signed poster have arrived!
Beautiful inlay booklet.
I'm waiting from my copy from Universal so not expecting it anytime soon. It's signed though so that will make up for the wait.
Where did you get a signed poster from, Al? Mine arrived today from HMV - although it was £1 cheaper than the signed one from Universal (which I missed the boat on ordering), so it's all good Not listened yet, but am looking forward to hearing the tracks!
Play.com, £7.99 with the signed poster.
http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/20018182/Cinderella-Eyes/Product.html?searchtype=allproducts&searchsource=0&searchstring=nicola+roberts&urlrefer=search
Oh, great! Well I'll have my signed Nicola picture in the post in a couple of days - plus I got HMV pure points!
Gonna buy this worst cover picture from this era though...
Can Mr Postman deliver it the right day this time or should I just wait until Thursday
I and Sticks + Stones are my clear instant standouts, love both far more than either of the singles
I realise why I love 'Take a Bite' more than generally anything else on this record. Talk about M.I.A.-lite
HMV – #43
Play.com – #29
After listening to this a couple of times, WHY she chose 'BOMD' and 'LD' as the first two singles is beyond me. Easily two of the worst on the album.
My ratings:
Beat Of My Drum: 9
Lucky Day: 9.5
Yo-Yo: 9.5
Cinderella's Eyes: 10
Porcelain Heart: 9.5
I: 9
Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime: 9
Say It Out Loud: 9.5
Gladiator: 8
Fish Out Of Water: 8.5
Take A Bite: 10
Sticks + Stones: 10
A very strong album, my favourite of the year I'd say!
Such a good album after just a couple of listens! I'd say as an album, I prefer it to both of Cheryl and Nadine's sets, but I think Cheryl definitely chose better singles than Nicola has so far. My favourite track is 'i' - I love how completely different to the rest of the album it is, yet it's still full of her personality. 'Gladiator' is also very good; it reminds me of another song, but I can't remember what at this moment. I'd list the rest that I think are very good, but that takes up the majority of the album! I'll do a proper rate after a couple more listens
Definitely buying it this week!
I met her today
And went to G-A-Y on the weekend to see her. So really I've had a Nicola-fested weekend.
Currently #20 on Itunes album chart
and now No.11!
I'm so obsessed with the (I think it's a middle 8) of "Yo-Yo".
Judge for yourself:
#9 now! OMG! Hope it keeps climbing, or at least sticks there until Sunday!
It's a very good album, not quite as good as some would have you believe though:
10 Beat Of My Drum
09 Lucky Day
07 Yo-Yo
09 Cinderella's Eyes
08 Porcelain Heart
06 I
07 Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime
11 Say It Out Loud
07 Gladiator
07 Fish Out Of Water
08 Take A Bite
10 Sticks + Stones
#11 in the first set of midweeks!
Buzzing with that! Would be AMAZING if it climbed in the top 10. But I'm more than happy with anywhere in the Top 20
My album still hasn't been delivered Trust it to come tomorrow when I'll be at work the entire day!
Delighted with its first mid week position, i know it will probably drop throughout the week but i think top 30 will be its very lowest now, im delighted its charting for her, lets hope she promo;s like hell this week to keep the album selling.
You know what, this album is f***ing amazing. One of my fav albums of the year easily. Its annoys me that Cheryl can drop an albums and it sells, yet Nicola comes out with amazing songs and singles and get ignored. Team Ginge all the way.
#8 on Itunes now. Climbed slightly. Glad its sticking well.
Having listened to this album more than 165 times I can now rate it as well
11 Beat Of My Drum
10 Lucky Day
09 Yo-Yo
08 Cinderella's Eyes
09 Porcelain Heart
10 I
06 Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime
08 Say It Out Loud
10 Gladiator
09 Fish Out Of Water
10 Take A Bite
10 Sticks + Stones
AMAZING.
I think 'I' would be much better served with a less grating vocal.
I've bought my copy online today! Can't wait to hear it all, the tracks that I have heard are just divine!
My signed copy from Universal better bloody come today!
Music Week seem to think that 'I' is to be the next single! Don't know if that was posted here yet but it's part of their playlist section this week and says;
Hope it can hold on to the top 20
Finally here's my rate
10 Beat Of My Drum
10 Lucky Day
08 Yo-Yo
09 Cinderella's Eyes
10 Porcelain Heart
09 I
08 Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime
07 Say It Out Loud

08 Fish Out of Water
10 Take a Bite
08 Sticks + Stones
and the B-Sides:
08 Disco Blisters & a Comedown
09 Fix Me
09 Dance the Rain
So...14 today. Not TOO bad a drop but I think it'll be out of the top 20 by Sunday sadly.
"Yo-Yo" is clearly single #3.
If its still top 10 on itunes surely it will stay a bit more stable now. Please be top 20 come Sunday!
As long as it charts higher than the two singles I'll be relatively happy.
In all fairness I never even thought she would ever release an album, and even when they announced it I thought something would go wrong and with both singles pretty much flopping I thought there was a chance they could scrap it, so I'm just over the moon I actually have a Nicola album in my collection, and the fact that it is amazing is just a bonus.
THIS. Seriously, 5 years ago, who thought we would ever be able to say the sentence "Nicola Roberts has a solo album out"?
Anyway, back UP in today's midweeks to #13
Fantastic album start to finish. Even if it doesn't chart or sell well she can always be proud of it and we will always have a great pop album that thought and effort was put into which is rare in these times.
Got my copy throught the post this morning - loving the album booklet.
The 'signature' on the poster is a bit odd though...can't tell if it's actually meant to be her name or if she's written something?
09 Beat Of My Drum
08 Lucky Day
06 Yo-Yo
05 Cinderella's Eyes
08 Porcelain Heart
10 I
04 Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime
09 Say It Out Loud
06 Gladiator
10 Fish Out Of Water
08 Take A Bite
08 Sticks + Stones
It's a quirky little album and definitely the most surprising release of the year. Who would have thought? Girls Aloud have always been a bit rubbish and Cheryl, well...
That says "lots of love, Nicola x", Cremey! I have it (albeit more neatly) on my single of 'Lucky Day' and a picture I bought from the OOC tour two years ago
Glad its climbed 1 place although its bound to fall again tomorrow. Currently at #14 on Itunes. Still holding up quite well, alot better than I thought!
Its "Lots of Love, Nicola". She signed the album and singles like that too.
Great that it climbed 1 place in the midweeks todays, lets hope it can hold around that position now.
I didn't even realise my copy was signed at first, I thought it was part of the cover
Brilliant album, standout tracks for me are 'Cinderella's Eyes', 'Take A Bite', 'Sticks + Stones' and the fabulous 'Beat Of My Drum'. I've even warmed to 'Lucky Day' the past week. 8.5/10
I NEED to buy a copy!! OMG!
Have had no time to live at all!
The album is a huge hit in my household! So thrilled for her!
How do you get a signed copy again?
im surprised its doing so well given how poor both singles have performed (imagine how well it would have done had they been huge hits!) im happy for her though, i hope it stays top 20 and i hope there's some way for her next single to be a hit.
Urgh! My copy is taking FOREVER to arrive! I want it NOW!
"Team Ginge" T-shirts and hoodies are now available from Nicola Roberts's webstore!
I'm actually tempted to buy one, but I'm not sure anyone would actually understand it
#48 debut in Ireland this week.
10 Beat Of My Drum
10 Lucky Day
09 Yo-Yo
07 Cinderella's Eyes
10 Porcelain Heart
10 i
07 Everybody's Got To Learn Sometimes
08 Say It Out Loud
07 Gladiator
09 Fish Out Of Water
11 Take A Bite
10 sticks + stones
It's such an incredible album, definitely better than Nadine's and both of Cheryl's for me.
It's just arrived!!!
07 Beat Of My Drum
10 Lucky Day
08 Yo-Yo
09 Cinderella's Eyes
08 Porcelain Heart
10 i
07 Everybody's Got To Learn Sometimes
07 Say It Out Loud
10 Gladiator
07 Fish Out Of Water
09 Take A Bite
10 sticks + stones
So it's maybe not as brilliant as I originally thought, but there are a lot of very good tracks, with just a few fillers, for me. 'i' is probably my favourite track, although 'sticks + stones' is very quickly growing on me!
I love all songs on the album! Beat of My Drum, Lucky Day, Yo-Yo, Porcelain Heart, and Sticks + Stones are my favourites!
Just bought a copy at HMV! #teamGinge !
The fish and chips picture is my favourite. My flatmate prefers the rapunzel with her legs wide open in the window one.
Dying to know where this charts later today. Preying its managed to stay Top 20. *Fingers Crossed*
I wish we could see the Friday album update chart 11-14-13 to me shows a good sign of it being Top 15, I just hope it hasn't fallen lots this weekend
10 Beat Of My Drum
09 Lucky Day
09 Yo-Yo
08 Cinderella's Eyes
07 Porcelain Heart
05 I
06 Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime
09 Say It Out Loud
08 Gladiator
03 Fish Out Of Water
10 Take A Bite
11 Sticks + Stones
Apart from the soggy middle and the horrendous 'Fish Out Of Water', it's a pretty good album! I would've said I was under-whelming if it hadn't been for the last two tracks! Say It Out Loud is another of my favourites which seems to be going under the radar on here.
#17 début this week! I'm so pleased that she managed to stay top 20, and hopefully the sales will be strong(ish, at least; all album sales are pretty poor overall unfortunately.)
Not bad - I expecting it to fall out of the top 20 tbh. I doubt sales will be too good though unfortunately
Im delighted it stayed top 20, i had a fear it would drop out and land at #21 today, i would say sales will be 7,000 maximum, but least she has a top 20 album to her name now no matter what happens, she is only the 2nd member to manage that so far so well done to her.
09 Beat Of My Dream
10 Lucky Day
10 Yo Yo
09 Cinderellas Eyes
05 Porcelain Heart
06 I
10 Everybodys Got To Learn Sometime
11 Say It Out Loud

I've never been a huge Nicola fan but holy moly. This is eaaaasily the best thing to come from Girls Aloud or anything related to them. It's so mature aswell, and it's sad she's not selling millions because the album isr eally special. Porcelain Heart I'm bored of, hence the low score and I is a bit meh, but asides from those two I'm in actual awe. This is gonna go down as one of my favourite albums ever I think.
Over the moon with the album being #17 so glad its top 20. Hope it can at least manage a 2nd week in the Top 40.
Top 20 for the album is much better than I was expecting, I'm so glad. I hope it doesn't do a Lucky Day and bomb out of the charts next week.
I've just got this and will endeavour to listen to it asap. I really like the stuff I've heard so far - if the album's good I might be on my way to becoming a bit of a NicRob stan.
This definitely outperformed my expectations, well done to her!
It sold 8,473 in its opening week, this is slightkly higher than i expected as i thought 7.5 at maximum so its good it sold better, my only worry is will the album plummet this week, i have a feeling it wont be even top 40, so i guess if it managed to stay top 40 this week it would out do my expectations for yet another week.

Took AGES for this to click with me! At first I thought omg it's really really bad, her voice grates and it's all self pity rubbish, I didn't go to the Liverpool signing because I hated it that much :-( My friend made me keep listening and thank god I did! While I can't see me ever liking Everybody's (Baby D was far better!), Fish Out Of Water (wth?), and i (jesus!); some are amazing, esp Gladiator, Say It Out Loud, and Yo-yo :-)
SO pleased, she was always my fave I was obsessed with her. It's my least fave GA related album though :-(
I don't get the lack of love for "Fish out of water", it's probably my favourite track on the album after the two first singles !
SIOL is one of myyy favourites <33
Going through my first listen of the album now.
07.0| 'Beat Of My Drum'
07.5| 'Lucky Day'
08.0| 'Yo-Yo'
07.5| 'Cinderella's Eyes'
07.0| 'Porcelain Heart'
06.0| 'I'
07.0| 'Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime'
09.0| 'Say It Out Loud'
08.0| 'Gladiator'
08.0| 'A Fish Out Of Water'
07.5| 'Take A Bite'
08.5| 'Sticks + Stones
I've not made up my mind about 'I'. I honestly don't know if I like it or not... Maybe with more listens I can form some sort of opinion. All in all though, it's a decent album. My favourite is 'Say It Out Loud'. 'Sticks + Stones' is very nice and I can see it growing for a little while. I'm not going to hammer this album though, I feel her voice will grate on me alot if I did. But right now, it's a strong debut album.
Its out of the top 40 in the first set of midweeks, i had hoped it would scrape a 2nd week top 40, i hope it manages to stay top 50.
Is that even possible? 17-OUT?
Regardless if it is out - she still made it top 20 =] I hope there is a 3rd single which will finally get the public on to this! I still need to buy the album - not had time.

OU to tha CH
I didn't think it'd drop anywhere near that much.
It's a disapointing drop for the album, but if 'Yo-yo' can even manage some interest it might help the album get another week or two in the top 75.
But I mean it would be expected.
She's done zero-none promo for the album. Two album signings simply is NOT enough.
Haha funny mistake I made indeed
I love both songs/artists though
I mean during album week, she did two CD signings. I know she promoted the singles at some opportunities. I just feel she could've done a lot more during the album release week.
I wonder where the album will chart this week, I hope it doesn't fall out of the top 200, even if she could stay within the top 200 for a few weeks it would help get nearer to having 20,000 sales.
Your signature is soooo effing flawless Tom Kay!!
Despite how high my expectations were I must say I continue to be blown away by how amazing Cinderella's Eyes is. Idk how it's possible but it managed to be both an instant classic and a grower at the same time. I loved songs like Fish Out Of Water, Say It Out Load and Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime, but there'll be times when I'm listening to them and I just get this whole new appreciation for them. The more I listen to them, the more I love them! Truly brilliant!!
LOL Theo.
Lazy Girls and Trick are pure perfection!!
Anyone know how much this has sold so far?
A little over 11,000, I think. Chart run of 17-72-158.
Shame the album dropped so fast, i hope she can manage to sell a few moew copies.
She's going to be on the Alan Titchmarsh Show on 9th November. Hopefully to perform the new single, as well as flogging this dead horse of a project.
It was always pretty obvious this whole project was never gonna set the world alight, I'm just glad she made an album she can truly be proud of and shows what she was really capable of (which as a HUGE Girls Aloud fan, I never even had any idea).
This was, bar Bruno Mars' and Will Young's albums, one of my favourite albums of last year. I always said Nicola would produce the most sound solo album out of all of Girls Aloud - I loved Cheryl and Nadine's as well, don't get me wrong - but for me I just knew Nicola would come up with something that you could tell was 'her' when you heard it, especially with the lyrics, I love the lyrics in 'I' and also 'Sticks & Stones' because I feel I can identify with them so easily, as I think everyone can who's been in the situations she talks about, about not being accepted or people who hold pointless grudges over things that won't end the world tomorrow. And in a way I kind of like it that this album hasn't been like a huge commercial success like '3 Words' or 'Messy Little Raindrops' were for Cheryl, because for me it's one of those albums I can easily share with a friend and I can feel like it's my little discovery I'm passing on to other people. I think I must have played it to about 6 of my friends (without telling them who it was) since it's been out and when I've told them it's Nicola they've been really surprised, and have said how different and unique it is. Even if she never makes another album on her own she should be proud of making this record, because I know I would. Team Ginge FTW!
I wonder what the album total sales are, im sure it would picked up a few sales in the high selling christmas market so hopefully it has passed 30,000 sales.
I'd say it's probably still lower than 20,000 at this stage. It probably would have needed to have been within the Top 200 at the very least over Christmas to go anywhere near 30k.
Thats disapointing, i wonder has she sold more than Nadine managed though?
It makes me SO sad that this flopped. It's honestly one of the best albums I've heard in recent years, and I think in a way the Girls Aloud tag actually harmed her.
With Cheryl & Nadine it helped (well not so much re Nads) cause they were kind of making throwaway pop music, whereas Nicola was alot more credible than both (rightly or wrongly), and had acclaim from NME and the like. Had she not have been a Girls Alouder I think she may have done better.
quality wise it deserved to sell so much more but i think we all kinda knew it wouldnt unfortunatly.
She never stood a chance really. But we all knew that from the outset, she's made an album that she worked hard on and should be proud of in years to come.
Yeah I never expected it to sell or chart well regardless of how amazing it is. Tbh I'm surprised she even managed two Top 40 singles and a Top 20 album.
Seems that she is still recording new material though so I wonder if she will set up her own record label to release a 2nd album.
If I could put it on at work I would (darn parental advisory!). May smuggle my iPod down one night, with the clean songs
Bought Cinderella's Eyes yesterday. It's a really great album, deserved to do much better.
I still reckon if she launched with Say It Out Loud things could have went very differently.
God I love this album so much.
Am I the only one still obsessed with Nicola as a solo artist and this album? She is now my 12th most played artist ever on my last.fm!
I was playing it the other day, and it still a perfect album! Still not keen on Fish Out of Water or Take a Bite, but the rest are fantastic. Was my favourite "end of summer" album.
Fish Out of Water has finally clicked with me, it was always my least fave from the album. I actually can't believe I Love all 12 tracks. Also I need your last.fm profiles to stalk your Nicola love
"I didn't mark the 5 years last year because with my own weirdness I wasn't in the place. But today is 6 years since I released Cinderella's eyes. Time flies when you're cocooning. When I listen to the record now all I can see is how much I was kicking out. Its bonkers! Opinion & taste is subjective but to me the vocal is over cooked, I pushed the mix till the engines almost blew (I still stand by the lyrics I wrote though 🔥lol) all because I think I was on a mission to push it as far as I could, maybe a rebellious thing, I don't know. It's a snap shot of what my environment had been, growing up in a girl band and making ruleless pop music with the girls for so long it was always going to be the product that came out first. I'm so proud of the album and what I created for that time. The thing I will always take with me with this record is how people reacted to it and how with sticks + stones in particular (which is actually hard for me to listen too), how they felt like they could relate to it. That's all you want from music and for that it's such a special moment in time for me. "

A great album
WHY HAVE I ONLY JUST DISCOVERED THIS ALBUM.
PORCELAIN HEART AND THE TITLE TRACK omg.
An album!
Porcelain Heart is perfection. She best have an album ready to go after the Masked singer
Cinderella's Eyes re-entered at #42 in the download chart on 21st February, its third week in the Top 100! https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/albums-downloads-chart/20200221/7003/ - its download chart run is: 13-99-out-42-out
The Greatest Showman soundtrack sold 175 downloads at #41, and Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix 1 soundtrack sold 165 downloads at #43, so Nicola therefore sold between those figures.
Cinderella's Eyes is a cracking album it deserved a lot more success it's way superior to any of the other girls solo albums.
It deserved to have been far bigger than what it was, if it was recorded by girls aloud it would have been huge.
I really liked 'Lucky Day' at the time and still do, it deserved better in the UK chart.
Wow 10 years, goes so fast.
I didn’t like this when it first came out but grew to really enjoy it.
A 10th anniversary edition with extras would be nice, I'm still surprised Nicola hasnt released a follow up as despite not a huge sales success it was a big critical success.
I thought she would have released something after her win on The Masked Singer.
Yeah, I really wish they hadn't done the OA/OS method with 'Beat of My Drum'. I really think that scuppered its chances and could have been way more successful otherwise.
I seriously cannot believe this was released 10 years ago I still remember my huge excitement for the launch of her solo career, like it was yesterday... (Tbh I'm always feeling in denial that 2011 was 10 years ago, it just doesn't feel right!)
I can totally understand why this song is divisive, but for me it was instant love. It's such an in your face and a kind of weird bop - just perfect for a solo Girls Aloud member.
10 years... its a shame she recorded more solo music but didn't bother releasing.
This in my opinion was an amazing solo album and I wish she'd released more music. Nicola is without a doubt my fave member as well
The oa/os theory is always such nonsense. The held back release for ‘lucky day’ did nothing. ‘Beat of my Drum’ was just a song that didn’t seem to click with the general public.
I just wish her & the label didn’t have the idea of her being the next big pop girl & had her as this indie-pop style singer that toured, didn’t really have hits but had a large enough audience
I don't think Beat.. would have been a big hit either way, as it was definitely a bit too 'out there' for it to smash but I do believe it would have gone at least top 15 with a heldback release. Lucky Day probably didn't get a lot of support after Beat.. underperforming so it makes sense that one also flopped. I know we'll never know, but I always find it interesting to have these 'what could have been' discussions.
I always thought BOMD was a great debut single but much more on the promo single... i always thought a quicker follow-up to keep the hype would have been better. Waiting several months for 'Lucky Day' seemed mad. I'd have had it out in July.
10 years is crazy, I remember the first time I heard Beat of My Drum so clearly! At first I wasn't sold on it but it quickly won me over and I was obsessed, definitely one of the best solo GA songs. Cinderella's Eyes is still such an incredible album too. Ugh, I miss 2011!
Do we think there is any chance of something happening with the 10th anniversary in September? I'd would LOVE to get a vinyl, obviously, or even a Spotify re-release with the b-sides (which are still not available on streaming platforms...).
Yes please, or even some demos of songs that didn’t make the album.
I love how Jay always brings the facts
Gosh, I can't believe we're approaching the decade anniversary of this. I wholly refuse to accept 2011 was 10 years ago.
i'd love her to have 'disco blisters' on streaming...
The one b-side I don’t own as it isn’t available for purchase on iTunes.
The album feels nowhere close to 10 years old
The album has aged very well.
Beat of My Drum is rather annoying imo. Lucky Day is great though, it is sad it only made #40 in the charts.
Great too see going ahead.
I *need* this on vinyl!
So excited for this
Oooooh defo getting this. Would prefer a 2nd album though
Can’t wait for whatever it is. If it is a vinyl I hope they at least add some bonus tracks or demos and add them to streaming too
I also wish it was a new album too but oh well
discos for streaming
Im really happy its getting a vinyl release but i would never have predicted vinyls for some solo albums ahead of girls aloud vinyls.
Glad we are getting the vinyl it's the same tracklisting as the CD so no bonus tracks but she does tease that something else is on the way which is exciting
Unfortunately this will be chart ineligible as it's being distributed independently, it would have been amazing to see it back in the charts again but ultimately we are getting the vinyl and that's what matters most
The vinyl is looking so beautiful and pre-orders start on Friday! Woop woop.
omg where is this vinyl?? I need one love this album!
Can’t wait to get this. Wonder what the more to the story is though
Oh not too keen on the cover wish it was a whole card picture rather than a square in the middle! Vinyl looks stunning though. 😍
Have to admit I’m a bit disappointed by the beige border too… I feel like light green would have looked better if they had to have a border. How interesting that they apparently don’t have a high enough quality image of an album that only came out 10 years ago!! Apparently the design was Nicola’s idea, so… we shall try and respect the artist’s vision x
So this pre-order is going live at midnight - 3 and a half hours to go!
10 bonus tracks on the double vinyl
Oh wow!! I really hope they come out on CD / digital at some point!

Wow! I've gone a bit wild and ordered both the standard vinyl and the deluxe double vinyl, plus a green cassette. If I was being at all sensible I probably should have settled for just the deluxe double vinyl, but I felt compelled to have the standard too because it features the original artwork. I have at least been slightly restrained and not ordered the other cassettes!
Plastic Pop has stated that the demos are exclusive to vinyl and won't be released elsewhere, which is unfortunate because vinyl rips aren't ideal, but nevertheless I'm super excited to hear them.
I think the new artwork used on the deluxe vinyl, by the artist Bryony Fripp, looks fantastic. The border used for the standard - it's growing on me - of course ideally it would have been the original artwork fully on the cover, but it seems that Nicola wanted it this way (and perhaps the original artwork wasn't available in a high enough quality? Kind of surprising when the album is from 2011, but maybe that's the reason for a border?).
The release date is currently "TBC" so I'm very curious when they'll all be ready.
This is even more than I was hoping for! Such a well prepared release, and how exciting to see we are getting new songs!? Such a shame they won't be available on streaming services though. I'm still not sure which versions to go for, so need to think about that today.
This needs to come to digital and streaming ASAP! Hopefully it does.
I ordered the Lucky Day bundle, oops 🙊 so much money but I need it ! Really hope there’s a digital release for this too !
The double vinyl is already out of stock!!
Went for the double vinyl for the extra songs and the artwork filling up the whole cover!
Ordered the deluxe vinyl! 10 extra tracks wow - it's like a whole new album
I hope the success of this encourages her to release a totally new album too.
Does this have a release date yet?
I was just going to ask the same question as i couldnt see the release date anywhere, i know there is a delay with production of vinyls so that will affect the release date.
2CD edition finally available to order!! https://www.plasticpop.co.uk/cd/behind-cinderellas-eyes-double-cd
Just got mine
Ordered it too! Really glad we'll have those bonuses in CD quality!
Ooh I may need to order this. Do they ship to Australia?
Good to see a new cd version but ideally both would have been released in the same week.
He must not not be linked with the charts company then which is disappointing as it i think Nicola would sell enough to get back in the top 100 at the least again.
The new CD is released in 2 days
Not sure if the stock number is accurate, but I see there being 20 copies left of the Deluxe Vinyl, so if anyone was wanting it, it might be time to order!
its not going on streaming so it won't chart? maybe vinyls
Received my CD today, so excited to listen to the new tracks!
The new songs are a great addition to a phenomenal album. I can see why they didn't make the final tracklist - obviously difficult to judge when they aren't fully produced - but they're great bonus additions for a second disc and it's so good to hear Nicola's voice on new(ish) music for the first time in SO long! Heart Racing and Crash are my faves of the new songs, alongside Fix Me and Memory of You of course
I listened to the main album too before the new songs and it's aged like a fine wine - it's still SO good! Singles aside, the title track, Porcelain Heart and Take a Bite are my faves
I really wanted to get this, but I’ve been out of work for a year and can’t start a new job due to health at the moment. So I couldn’t justify spending the money. May check YouTube to see if the new tracks surface.
All on YouTube here!
Thanks .Joseph.
Will definitely check these out later today.
Got the album in the post today and was reminded how much I love it, I've not listened to it in a long time <3 'i' is so good, particularly lyrically and the words are even more relevant 11 years later.
I really enjoyed a lot of the new tracks too, I agree that most of them probably weren't strong enough for the main album so they're fair leftovers but I really love the songs Head, Crash and Pipe Dreams! Quite liking that alternative version of Lucky Day too, and I completely forgot about Disco, Blisters And A Comedown and the John Prescott reference
Crash is very addictive after a few listens and tomorrow has really grown on me.
if anyone wants mp3s let me know... bit confused why no-ones bothered to leak it besides that youtuber.
also why did 'dance the rain' not make it? makes you wonder how many unreleased tracks there are?
Me too if possible please.
Does that mean if any of them made it into the main chart, they'd be considered as separate entries rather than re-entries of the original?
Need these vinyls !!
Hopefully it’s very early on in the summer It’s been 5 months since the pre-orders went up. Potentially another 3-5 months to go?
The only thing is it might help build up the pre orders a bit more although in reality it will have a very limited fan base who will be buying it.
Any news on this vinyl yet. Not having a date still is a little bit poor, independent business or not …
Still just “summer”
Le sigh…
5 days ago PlasticPop commented that Cinderella’s Eyes vinyl is “99.9999999999% there”, so let’s hope it really is imminent. It’s been an awfully long wait (8 months since it was announced).
I’d still love this to be added to streaming and iTunes.
Can the 2cd still be purchased?
Yeah that's still available! https://www.plasticpop.co.uk/nicola-roberts/behind-cinderellas-eyes-double-cd
Great it’s finally sniping for those that ordered it.
Received my copies yesterday!
Will be interesting to see how it does in the chart (I don't have particular expectations for the main Top 200, but let's hope for nice positions in the sales / physicals / vinyl charts).
Mine still doesn’t say it’s been shipped !
Manual shipping will delay so many dispatches.
Very frustrating job.
Got mine yesterday
does anyone happen to have a cheeky mp3 version of the bonus tracks? I need them
on my phone !
Finally got around to getting my friend to order the 2cd version of this.
Won’t get it until,September but looking forward to it none the less.
Hope you are very happy with it after waiting so long.
I am *finally* listening to the extra tracks after always spinning the regular version! (Oops!)
Are you enjoying them?
I just got around to listening to them on Friday.
I liked Crash plus the three b-sides from the singles. The other 6 were all ok but I can see why they didn’t make the album. Still happy I got it though.
I found some of the Behind tracks to be growers. I actually ended up preferring Heart Racing, So Damn Right and Tomorrow over Crash (which I feel got the most attention at first due to it being Track 1, but eventually other songs caught my attention more).
That’s great to hear. I’ll certainly have to give the songs repeated listens.
I like a lot of these extra tracks. The voice control is far better! I’d easily swap a chunk of these for the main album!
Id agree some of these are better than tracks that made the actual album itself.
Where can I hear the new tracks/tracks that have been recently released?
Their all on youtube
