As claimed in the article above. I think his holds more credibility than Ed Sheeran does, so while he's probably not the biggest I can support the argument that he is the definitive pop star of this generation. The article raises some good points but what does everyone else think?

He sure is at the moment about the same as Ed Sheeran's standing, I would say.

As someone who generally hates what Drake's doing, yes, he's credible and he's well on top. You only have to look at the way other male pop singers like Puth and Mendes are at least following him, not to mention all of the rappers, and his sound has really influenced the way the current trends of pop music are flowing. More than Ed Sheeran, Ed will be bigger among the casual crowd because he's always going to do that but really he's just the latest Snow Patrol or James Morrison, with a bit more of an involvement in the pop scene than most others like him. There's always a market for that no matter the trends. Drake is the real superstar.

He's had more weeks at #1 in the UK than Ed Sheeran in the 2010s.

Drake: 25
Ed Sheeran: 24

Although... if you include Ed's uncredited vocals on Freaky Friday then they're even, and with his backing vocals on Love Yourself he's well ahead (and I don't know for sure but he's probably got at least another one as part of some sort of charity supergroup?)

It is pretty crazy how long Drake has been continuously in the public eye and he still seems to only be getting bigger and bigger over time. I'm not sure if I'd describe him as a 'pop star' at all but he's almost undebatably the definitive hip-hop act of the decade and there's probably an argument to be made for him being the most definitive musician overall (maybe alongside Adele).

I think the video for 'Nice For What' further cements Drake's place at the top of the game! Must feel very empowering for women. Every major single release from him now feels like an event and the videos especially.
