Hello Buzzcrackers. YTD. 2009. Shortlist of around 200 songs currently being cut down, ordered, etc. in the hope that some form of respectable singles chart can be compiled. Albums chart on the way hopefully also. Would like to compile a remixes/best live acts chart too time-permitting. As always, it's been a pleasure. Adieu.

Hello Cassidy.

I look forward to your countdown.

More interested in seeing a remixes and live acts one though.

I'd like to do a live acts one but no one would care.

Hi Chris. Hope all's well man! Remixes have been merged with singles YTD as frankly, i've never finished my singles YTD so remixes YTD would realistically never happen. Live acts hopefully though, its been an epic year for the live musik ohmy.gif

Whoa, obscure. I never realised my taste was so similar to yours ohmy.gif (though mine is a bit less dubby/electroey (n)). Yay at the the surprises such as Egyptian Hip-Hop, B!B!B!, Japandroids, Pains Of Being Pure At Heart etc. etc.

#040 Marina and the Diamonds 'I Am Not A Robot'

Marina Diamandis is undoubtedly my 'artist of 2009'. Numero uno on last.fm, seen her live twice, got tickets to see her again in February, album on pre-order. It's fair to say I am a bit of a fan. Everyone will be a bit of a fan in 2010. Even if the videos so far have been a little uncharacteristic in relation to her music. 'I Am Not A Robot' features on her 'The Crown Jewels' EP released in May of this year and will be on the muchly anticipated debut album early next year. Smiley faces all round for this one yahh.

#039 Glasser 'Apply'

I'll be honest, I know very little about Glasser. Aside from various remixes of this song and one or two other tracks I have heard nothing more from them. Which usually would be a negative factor on their inclusion in my YTD, especially in regards to breaking into the top 40. However, Apply stood out massively for me this year. A beatiful, mysterious mess in which the vocalist (Cameron Mesirow so I'm told) manages to convey her voice as some form of instrumental aid and sounds very, very sexay in doing so. I don't know who you are Cameron, but I certainly would like to bed you right this instance.

#038 Django Django 'Zummzumm'

Django Django were a late addition to my YTD this year. After downloading 2 demo MP3's from them in the first quarter of the year, I failed to follow them up and thus forgot about them. Only to stumble across the two little gems when reviewing all of the my 2009 songs, 'Zummzumm' being the pièce de résistance of all their material I have checked out since. The thing that's so striking with Django Django is their refusal to be pigeonholed into any given genre, there's nobody quite like Django Django around at the moment. I guess they could be categorised as some twisted cross-over between psychedelic and experimental although it'll take someone with far greater musical knowledge than myself to distinguish that one. The four-piece from LDN do some pretty epic remixes too. Check them out guys.

#037 Grum vs. Major Lazer 'Frail Limb Purity'

Two of my biggest musical forces of the year join up and produce one of the sickest pieces of music the year 2009 laid ears on. If you don't tap your feet when listening to this you're probably not human. Splendid.

#036 Two Door Cinema Club 'Something Good Can Work'

"Let's make this happen girl, we're gonna show the world that something good can work and it can work for you." There's a sense of naivity about this song that enamoured me immediately with Two Door Cinema Club; this being this first workings of theirs that I came across. No intricacies, no complexities, just simple, bog-standard good music. Good music that has continued to remain a staple of my sincerest adorations throughout the year; always willing to lend a hand when I needed a feelgood song in my times of need. Now they're signed to Kitsune (thumbs up) and will do big things next year. So I sit at my computer screen monitoring the sound of 2010 and clutching my £5 ticket to see them in March. Yipee-ka-yay.

I think I've heard two of those. sad.gif Kesha is obviously immense and that Marina song is my least favourite of the ones I've heard.
