It's getting to that time now when we reflect on the year that has passed us. And let's be honest there was a lot of stuff in the chart that gave me stitches and I'm not just talking Shawn Mendes.

As the weekly hate chart stopped being a thing years ago, the hate chart is now a yearly affair. Get your puke emoticons at the ready.

You can nominate any song that entered or peaked in the chart within the past year.

The songs with the most nominations will progress to the voting stage of the competition where we'll aim for 50 mouldy slices of pop.

Its been a bad year for chart music in general imo. Mostly dull sounding tropical house tunes or future bass tunes with annoying pitched vocal drops.

Jonas Blue - By Your Side (future bass generic song with lazy repeated words in chorus)
Gnash and Olivia O'Brien - I Hate U I Love U (very boring imo)
Jax Jones and MNEK - House Work (hate this style of minimal dance)
Dawin - Dessert (REALLY annoying drop imo)
Cheat Codes and Kris Kross Amsterdam - Sex (generic future bass cover)
Zara Larsson - Lush Life (overplayed plus also generic tropical house)
Zay Hilfigerrr and Zayion.McCall - Juju On That Beat (TZ Anthem) (a bit boring imo)
Galantis - No Money (horrific vocal effects imo and just another tropical house sounding song)
Rihanna - Work (repetitivity of word Work)

It's felt like I've hated more this year but maybe it's just that the songs don't disappear as quickly as they used to. Even still this feels more mostly like mediocrity; can't really bring out hate that much nowadays

Some of the more modern rap tracks are terrible. The ones on this list aren't quite as bad as 'Trap Queen' by Fetty Wap last year though, ugh.

The Gnash one is the dullest pile of rubbish I've heard all year.

Lukas Graham's track is probably the most irritating.

Rihanna's track I do kind of enjoy on a night out now but it equally is an example of how she could fart a song and her fans would lap it up. I really like the backing track though!
