Second single from 'Takin It Back'. I see the album is named literally named after her genre.

I really did enjoy the sound from 'Treat Myself' but its a great song nonetheless.

She seems to be quite popular on TikTok

she really does... like she made one doo-wap inspired album and people are genuinley saying "god is still making that music?"

It's decent but I actually preferred the pure pop sound of the last two albums I do really like 'Made You Look', 'Shook' and 'Takin' It Back' though.

a very camp video... doesn't really fit the song (nor does the candy crush theme). it very much reads as - get Chris Olsen involved but also make it Candy Crush themed

i don't think shes ever looked so disinterested in one of her videos before.

'Made You Look', like most Tik Tok songs, is very much a "The hook is the best thing but as a full song it falls flat" for me Just feels like it's 'All About The Bass' in the stage before it actually became AATB... the production feels very unfinished and unpolished.

EDIT: 'Shook' is much better. She actually sounds like she wanted to record that.

people were saying if she'd followed up Title with a doo-wap album, she'd be in abetter place now however i disagree as i think at the time it would have been seen as a schittix

I think the biggest issue is her single choices, I still firmly believe Kindly Calm Me Down would have performed well over the xmas period from thank you rather than releasing better which killed the era. Spotify was really awkward with this era too and didn’t put “me too” on playlists despite its good performance in USA.

No Excuses got no radio and no playlists at all which cause treat myself to be delayed multiple times and the less said about the rest of the singles which didn’t make the album the better. Nice To Meet Ya done okay but once again no exposure.

Made You Look had next to no exposure and didn’t even manage to make NMF but it’s performance on Spotify has forced an add from HHUK and i’m sure it will be added around more playlists on Friday and more around europe! I could even see it being on TTH on Friday too albeit quite low but I can see this being a top 20 hit in the UK and top 50 in the US

I was obsessed with Meghan from the Title era going into the Thank You one too, so I’m happy to see things kind of turn around for her. I saw her live in 2014/15 and she was so good.

Saying that, I don’t think her material is good enough any more at all. Both Treat Myself and Takin’ It back we’re so disappointing for me.

I loved Treat Myself! Full of cute bops but I don't go back to it much anymore, I agree with this album though. I literally only like Made You Look and Takin It Back - the rest are super cheesy/cringe.

Thank You is definetly her best work and although No was a hit, it deserved so much more.

Meghan is deffo an artist that she writes an album, label intervene and things get altered.

Treat Myself (and Thank You to an extent) were albums that deffo werent cohesive.

Takin It Back is a nice album but it's a bit... there. I guess she's just happy to get it out there.

I don't understand why Meghan Trainor has been so underrated in recent times. And I'm saying this as someone who wasn't a fan of All About That Base back in 2014. In my own chart, she has had #1s every year from 2015 to 2022 except 2021, and she's already had 3 #1s this year so far.

Well she "ain't" my mother because we are the same age. But I like her, she's cute. Seems like a doll. She did try to release more mature sounding songs, 'Wave' was fantastic, 'Better' is actually my favourite single of hers. So the two that no one cared about and flopped majorly causing her to return to her cheesier routes and honestly good for her, if it works out for her career wise I completely get why she's doing it. I'd do the same.
