Congratulations to uhsting, that was a great entry (2nd place in my own vote) and good to see Sparks finishing as high as 12th place.
Thanks to Riser for a fantastic hosting job. |

Huge congrats to Jack!!! two contest wins in the span of a week for you is phenomenal stuff and so many points ahead too. It was such an unexpected pleasant surprise as on paper I didn't forsee that act or title to come out with such a striking and epic entry.
Pleased to see Danæviia, Séyetana and Bøtanikkä top 10 too. Trifoksi deservedly as high as 12th too. What a unique track that was. Happy seeing Ojnoj, Zanmatony, Ben's Sanctuary and Persephonia top 20 as well and the hosts coming in at a decent 23rd as well as FSR Rontvia avoiding 27th also haha. Would have loved Spod to be higher but I guess it probably wasn't ever likely to avoid bottom 10 but avoiding bottom 5 is okay at least. Lovely retro track that one, very jolly! Thanks for the superb hosting Jordan! |

Yasss finally caught up!! I'm absolutely astonished to see this result and a landslide that I didn't expect at all! Thanks to all the 18 points and all the other points that I thanked earlier Thanks to Jordan for a fabulous first-time hosting too
Pleased to win BJSC for the first time, after my first participation as Why So Sirius some 4 years ago!! My old self would be laughing at the prospect of getting a podium spot, let alone winning! I will definitely cherish this finish and I really hope Sovarasma can deliver more bangers this year, and we surely have one prepared for BJSC 162! Great to see Hendinia just getting the top 10 My curse almost struck for them again I was definitely expecting Conoria to finish a LOT higher, so I guess this kind of music style doesn't really echo with the BJSC demographic SHOCKED to see Kathaldazia outside of top 20. I thought it sounded big too! Dan got a well-deserved top 5 though As always, Greenfroze is ROBBED #EndGreenfrozeRacism I will be in touch with the mods shortly about the dates, but I have something BIG planned Once again, thank you everyone and good night! |

well these results have thrown me for a loop.....the best song actually winning (by nearly 100 points)? The Postal Service in 2nd?? Bladee in 3rd??? this is not the bjsc i know.....but it's the one we deserve!
congrats on the victory Sovarasma, King Of The Slugs is already one of the contest's most iconic winners <3 (and shoutout to Jordan ofc, unleashing all the 18s at the end = perfect hosting) great to see Slumlord getting that high too! Trifoski claiming their highest result since Jumper in BJSC 147, another beneficiary of the voters' sudden glow up in taste? And to think we were just dicking around with this one...... |

Congrats uhsting, huge-sounding song and it's been stuck in my head the last few days! Really solid results tbh, I voted for the top 4 plus a lot of the rest of the top ten. Shame to see Cumulonimbia and Greenfroze so low, and ngl I expected a little higher for myself but happy to take another brand new position in the sub-30s! Thanks Jordan for hosting

I do still want to do a final cross reference with Jordan's spreadsheet when it's done to be super sure but I started doing a quick run through and I think I already found all 3 of the discrepancies within the first 18 votes in the thread (so hooray that everything else seems to have been correct after that!), so I am going to tentatively say the scoreboard I posted is about 95% sure to be final now x
Couldn't really ask for a better start to the year than my 18 winning and so dominantly at that - who needs wide appeal when you can just absolutely demolish the record number of 18s (although to be fair 'King Of The Slugs' was only 3 away from having the most votes of any song in this contest too, Cor Lupus topping that category with 30 votes while Hendinia got 29 and Aeroche/Sovarasma both got 27). Just checking back and the previous record of 10 gold medals was first set exactly 10 years ago by Indila in BJSC 61 (since matched by Courtney Barnett in BJSC 74, Sigala in BJSC 76 and Confidence Man in BJSC 140) so right now is quite a satisfying time for that record to be rewritten! I had already heard this song but I think it's safe to say it almost certainly would have got my 18 even if it was entirely new to me as it was very instant for me the first time, it's such an insane and standout song even within the confines of the weirdo artsy post-punk subgenre it loosely fits into. Very much looking forward to Sovarasma hosting again and as winners for the first time *.* Have to slightly feel for Utopia getting a second silver in a row (matching D'yermak'er on 4 2nd places without a win, one away from Kluminican Republic's record of 5) but at least it was nowhere even close this time unlike last contest haha. The Postal Service song did click with me a little bit more on my final listenthrough of the final but still not quite enough for more than a commiseration which does make me feel like a flop indie hag but still a good entry. I guess that leaves Fljótavík in line for a potential AQ next month since we're expecting Utopia to bow out for now - I hadn't spotted 'Yxguden' being in contention at all throughout the results so that was a real surprise on the final scoreboard but definitely a welcome one, we stan a Drain Gang banger and the rest of the top 5 is great as well, I did throw out Danæviia as a possible win contender on SyncTube so pleased to have been not too far off about that (position wise), obviously a very different song to 'King Of The Slugs' but honestly I feel it's quite a similar level of instantly striking. And I will accept 5th place for Cor Lupus, a great song but I would have felt a way if it had won as I've detailed already Elsewhere in the top 10 brilliant to see Abeltesfayeton continuing to reach new heights (and one I did actually vote for this time unlike their first top 10, yay!) and Séyetana sneaking in there too, that was a really smart choice of entry, stylistically similar to the likes of Sewerslvt and Nyteout but still having a distinctly different flavour to it to avoid feeling like too much of a rehash. I wasn't massively keen on the other 3 in the top 10 but glad the pop bloc don't get completely crowded out in an otherwise very me-coded top 10 Kind of a shame Trifoski didn't actually end up staying top 10 after being at the top end of the scoreboard for so long but 12th is still much higher than I'd have predicted, also excellent to see Land of DW in the top 15, doing better than most of my entries in that kind of lane so my entry envy was justified + solid results for Aeroche (top 10 would have been nice for that too but nvm), Jadakissnia, Conoria (a more substantial new peak this time yay), Varakë and FSR Rontvia. I think the only entry that stands out to me as being robbed here is Terra Avium who definitely should not be floundering in the bottom 10 </3 (Pestolia should also be a decent bit higher though I didn't help with them falling just short of my own votes). Overshadowed a bit by the record broken at the top of the scoreboard but Republic of Adonia have also broken new ground on the other end - even before their deduction, they have the first song to fall short of 40 points in the final under the current contest format (semi-finals + 18 point system in the final), the previous lowest was 45 or 47 excluding songs that had deductions. Intrigued to see the semi-final scoreboards to see how they managed to get through, guessing they may have had high points from one or two countries who didn't vote in the final (Lotunia seems likely?) Finally commenting on my own result, I am really picking up this year where I left off last year as this is my second 20th place finish in a row! I guess that tracks, got a pretty good response on SyncTube but didn't get much discussion elsewhere so anonymous midtable result it is, still good to start the year with a top 20 just about anyway, I was just wanting a better start than my 39th place finish this time last year and that is firmly achieved. Not quite getting any gold medals this time but happy with a good haul of 6 medals in total, thanks again all who supported Re-TROS (also noting this is the 3rd time in the last 4 contests that Jadaphonia have finished next to each other *.*) And thanks Jordan for a smooth first time hosting I got a few chuckles out of the Fyre Festival theme x |

Congrats uhsting! Also great to see FLJ high up there and Utopia getting another medal so soon! Also congrats to Seyetana for their first top 10 in a while! Republic of Adonia is the one that I feel is specifically robbed but Varakë should have also finished higher Yay for another 5th after never placing there for years! Glad to see my first rock-ish entry in a while perform well! Thanks so much to everyone who voted! |

I can confirm that Bray's scoreboard is correct!
Final Spreadsheet Semi 1 Spreadsheet Semi 2 Spreadsheet Thanks for the kind comments too. Yes, I did make an effort to keep the suspense for as long as I could, but I didn't know Fat Dog was going to have such a landslide win (I didn't count their points ahead of time) or realize they broke a record for most 18s. So it looks like I put more thought into the reveal order than I actually did, but I'm glad it had the desired effect |

Aw a shame Lotunia couldn't vote in the final, a 4 in the semi may have meant first final points were on the way, and a 6 from Sombrero too - meanwhile the 18 from FARC seems to have come out of nowhere!

That must be my luckiest qualification ever, gah. Only getting in due to a deduction AND having to win a tie-break.
Then again, on paper Semi 2 looked a lot more favourable for it (all the people I anticipated might well vote for it in Semi 2 did) so I’m not too surprised it ended up doing significantly better than projected in the final. Phew - not the way I’d like to qualify at all but I’ve been on the wrong side of tie-breaks plenty too. Will try and up my game next month! |

Congrats uhsting, I didn't realise that was your first win I thought you had one already. Must admit I'm pretty bemused by that landslide though the song completely passed me by on listenthrough so maybe I'll give it another spin. Thought I suspect this is just another case of me being completely against the grain like with Confidence Man when that dominated.
My top 2 finishing in the top 5 is rather pleasing, especially 3rd for Evian Christ. In fact looking at the scoreboard I can't say any of my faves underperformed as all but one of votes (and that was only my 2-pointer) finished in the top half very unusually lop-sided there but we take it! Thanks to the votes for Imperio, a couple of 18s thrown in there too shame I didn't quite get the unique position requested but only a second time placing 29th. Thanks also to Riser for a good job hosting. |

Delighted with another second, no chance of having any disappointment this time being so far off the lead. Two top 3 finishes in 107 contests followed by 2 in 2!
Not sure how many of the biggest scores I'll have actually introduced The Postal Service to but still great to see them finish so high up, certainly in my top 5 albums of all time so amazing to see them appreciated. A great set of results, voted for the winner and 9 of the top 14 - was good to follow, fab hosting, Riser! I'm sure I'll be back sporadically, although tempted by an AQ chance This post has been edited by RabbitFurCoat: 29th January 2024, 12:17 PM |

Well done uhsting diva! Looking forward to what you have in store for the next contest
Thank-you Jordan for your fabulous hosting. This turned out to be a great edition in the end. Loving The Postal Service and especially Evian Christ on the podium. I thought I was doomed after that first quarter of results! Lots of lower scores and only 1 medal (ty Leww ). I was expecting a midtable result so happy with 21st ! |

Wow, incredible to see Fat Dog get the win for uhsting! I did think that was an obvious standout and highlight, but didn't even begin to dream that there would be so much love for it <3
That Top 5 is also incredibly close to my own votes too (it's v rare for me to vote for seven of the T10); both the Evian Christ and Fat Dog singles were hits on my personal chart late last year and the Neon Indian track was back in 2015 (narrowly missing out on #1 ) so I'm happy that managed to make the Top 10. 'down with landlords etc.' Thanks Jordan for the hostings! Always fantastic to have a new winner as well- expectations are high for Sovarasma 162 and I have every confidence that they will be exceeded. |

Thanks Jordan for the fab hosting, our tent was a luxury model and superior to our early days in BJSC when we were stuck in a cardboard box in pouring rain for well over 12 months-worth of contests, and having to sneak into the toilets in the venue to smarten up That Sheryl Crow track was a total winner with us, too, just as well we didn't enter Alarm Clock after musing about it a bit.
Uhsting wow at that landslide number of 18's!! It didnt tick our box this time but it might be a grower and that makes up for one of your former music charters (our entry Mehro) bombing so badly in the semis, keep on treading that unpredictable music route! Poor Spitfire down t'bottom end, we will be charting it later this week as we are clearly a bit out of synch with BJ voters this time! |
