Following the success of 'Locomotion' and 'I Should Be So Lucky', Kylie began working on her debut album with Stock Aitken Waterman. 'Got to Be Certain' was a song originally recorded by fellow SAW act Mandy Smith before her version was shelved and was instead offered to Kylie. It's a delightfully joyous slice of pop music, complete with little disco influences, and has rightfully become one of Kylie's most loved from her early career. The song was another commercial triumph, peaking high Top 10 in the majority of countries, including #2 in the UK and a record breaking #1 debut on the Australian charts. As we celebrate 30 years since it was riding high in the charts, share your memories and thoughts below.

As i mentioned in the the thread for best single from the Kylie album.
Got To Be Certain is a great song that i still enjoy and its good that in the last few years she has started to perform it again as it was a song she had left off tour sets etc for a very long time.

This song made me fall in love with Kylie back then. I enjoyed ISBSL but if GTBC never existed I don't think following singles Locomotion and JNSPP would have made a Kylie fan.

I like that Mandy Smith cover, too, especially that different pronunciation of the word certain. I doubt it would have been a hit with Mandy releasing it. She sings as if she doesn't care if she's certain or not.

Love love love!

I have such a massive soft spot for it, probably moreso than anything pre-Rhythm of Love.

It's a song that brings back great memories,a friend of mine who doesn't live or hate Kylie adores the song and like me says it's a song full of great memories.

I'd love Kylie to rank all her singles from her fave right down to least fave.
