Well the prediction game didn't work out so I am trying out another idea which isn't really a game. The new releases are above and you vote in the poll for what you predict the film will open with. Posse post your answers and hopefully this creates discussion
This one is for the American box office UK new releases: Run All Night (A.K.A Taken 17)- Another Liam Neeson action thriller Suite Francaise- Drama starring Michelle Williams X+Y- Drama My predictions: Run all night feels like it has little buzz and I haven't seen much advertising- £820k Suite Francaise and X+Y will both have small weekends but should have good midweeks- £270k for the former, £220k for the latter |

Suite Francaise I'll say 220k which I think could be optimistic, I looked at the figure for Testament of Youth to try and get a comparison (that did a bit over 400k to open at #11), and this is released at a less favourable time of year.
X+Y I'm interested in seeing but I've not felt any buzz and seen very minimal advertising. I'll go for 100k (using Cake as my comparison point for this ). Run All Night.. 650k. If Chappie did around the 1m mark last weekend and I think this looks a lot less appealing, has less buzz and less advertising etc. Not the most exciting week. I'm hoping to catch Home as that has previews this weekend! |

RAN I predict for about 700k. Which isn't too shabby to say the only adverts I've seen are plastered over every bus stop.
'X+Y' about 90k. I have NO IDEA what it's even about. I won't need to either as my cinema isn't showing it. 'Suite Francaise' will struggle. 'Second Best Marigold Hotel' is still too prominent for it to steal any of the OAPS away. But I predict about 250k. |
