The original Nick Tilsley from Coronation Street, Adam Rickitt also left to start a career in the pop music world and had a hit with 'I Breathe Again'. Also having hits in 1999 was Dina Carroll, Beverly Knight and the Stereophonics who released a fantastic track that should be higher on this rate. 'Pick A Part That's New' was the final single from their second studio album 'Performance and Cocktails'. Just missing out on a Top 20 placing is Baz Luhrmann with his massive Number 1 hit 'Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen).

Fresh out of Eurovision, Precious hit the Top 10 with 'Say It Again' and former Radio 1 superstar DJ had a hit as part of Yomanda with 'Synth & Strings'.

Texas returned in 1999 with a new album 'The Hush' and a new single 'In Our lifetime', which was a nice chilled out summer track. Geri Halliwell was the first of the Spice Girls to go solo with her debut 'Look At Me' peaking at Number 2. The Vengaboys kept the dancefloor moving with their first Number 1 single 'Boom Boom Boom Boom', which was taken from their 'Party Album'.

Blur followed up their Number 1 smash 'Tender' with 'Coffee and TV' as the second single from their album '13'. Shanks & Bigfoot just miss out on the Top 10 here with their classic 'Sweet Like Chocolate', but only just as it shares the same score as the track at Number 10, but that track has scores of 11's.
