Sorry for the double post here. I want to experiment a bit with the collection of results this edition and I'm trying to write up a code in Python that is going to churn out results a lot more quickly and collect votes through Google Form via a much more user-friendly interface.
I'm still happy to receive votes from DM if you would like to format your post nicely. Let's see how this goes for me! |

I'm still happy to receive votes from DM if you would like to format your post nicely. Let's see how this goes for me! Ooh that's interesting. Let me know how it goes, I've written pseudocode in my head for how to do the coding logic of similar things on Buzzjack before, but I hadn't considered that the Google API has a good set of tools for retrieving those sorts of things. I still need to do my search but I know where to go with Mexico City, Poland less so, unless you really want bargain basement pop or doom metal which seem to be its main exports and not much inbetween. |

I haven't thought of retrieving directly through Google API. I intended to download Google sheet as a .csv file and import it to Python which seems a lot easier to do.
Anyways, we have 21 nations signing up and 12 entries so far! I will need to ask the mods about a potential veto but otherwise hope we will get a couple more countries and entries in! |

Also if you need help with finding entries, I can suggest a couple of sources x

That probably also works - and then the objective is to output formatted scoreboards I assume? I usually set my Excel sheets up to procedurally generate scoreboards which didn't take too long but you could easily set up a loop for what I did and make them after pressing a button that way with the right script from a csv sheet. |

Yup, the objective is to generate a typical scoreboard which you can see at the end of the contest. I could then do some fancy colouring and make it look nice on Excel later. I am trying to program a code that will generate a random sequence that gives me a scoreboard after x amount of votes. |

That’s quite easy to do in excel as you go tho.
Col A - Position Col B - whatever format spacer you want Col c - Country Col d - spacer Col e - artist - song Col f - spacer Col g - Sum(h2:*2) Every scoreboard you replace the * with the next column along, double click the bottom corner to apply the change to all and then sort Z-A on Col G. Count 1..2..3..4 and drag down in Col A and then copy A2:G42~ and paste onto buzzjack and you’ll get a standard formatted thing You can even alter the set up to add BBCode as necessary if you wanna like bold country names of those that have voted. Takes maybe a minute to do all of the changes and paste into the text box. It’s how I produce the scoreboards for every contest I’ve hosted. Eg the last TBO results scoreboard is all formatted this way |

Ah I did it with PFSC and Pride during my hosting similarly but the issue is that this process is very exhaustive. I will see if I can create a function that will just generate lists in .txt by only inputting the order of votes presentation as I like so I can just copy and paste as I do my results presentation. I could also try to make a graph of how the ranking of countries changes as the votes come along.

F**k I forgot to send a reminder to Addy! Hope he can send me an entry soon, which will put the official number of entries to 21!
If you still want to sneak in a change, or do a last-minute pick on an island (will assign you the set very quickly x), you are welcome to do so before I put up a thread before like 20:00 today x This post has been edited by uhsting: 15th December 2022, 12:10 AM |

Can I still switch my entry quickly?
Edit: Well, I did If you can't accept it, it's fine. This entry is cool too (and the crowd will enjoy it more than my original one), but that one should be a BJSC entry for sure, even if it flops. This post has been edited by FrankLuck: 15th December 2022, 03:08 PM |

Very low. Actually this is quite an unusual time to be starting one (not that I'm against it personally) as we're usually finished with the main contests by now and we're in a cooling off period with only TBO / Rejects.
