16 Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber I Don't Care

Posted by: Lomadz 10th May 2019, 06:24 AM

Ed is hit and miss for me but this is the best of the year so far refreshing. Actually has a melody!

Posted by: Bjork 10th May 2019, 07:16 AM

sure they can do it, already #1 on any possible Spotify playlist that exists biggrin.gif and unlike Taylor, Ed/Justin are Spotify-friendly artists with a Spotify-friendly song, they should do over 1 million streams per day for sure (even if the song sucks-uh huh huh)

Posted by: sammy01 10th May 2019, 07:19 AM

Zayn actually sounds good on A whole new world, the woman he sings it with might wanna try not singing through her nose.

Posted by: Bjork 10th May 2019, 08:05 AM

maybe it's cos it has the same title, but the ed/Justin song reminds me of Cheryl's own I Don't Care in the chorus, she should sue them and get some $$$ biggrin.gif
same for the new Guetta stealing Jamiroquai's melody

Ed and Justin genuinely does have similarities to Cheryl’s song! Not just in the chorus either.

What on earth were Avicii's team doing releasing the generic and derivative SOS as the lead single when they were sitting on Tough Love?! Sure, SOS was the safer choice but Tough Love is different and refreshing and would have made people sit up and take notice.

I mean in fairness, Ed has been sued in the past on the grounds of "Photograph" sounding like an even more irrelevant single from Matt Cardle and now the writers of that song are credited and get royalties.

You're right actually. Hasn't this happened to him about 3 times as well?

Kind of plagiarism.

Posted by: Cqmerqn 10th May 2019, 09:56 AM

He also completely ripped off Sia with Shape of You, but everybody knows that.

Posted by: Dircadirca 10th May 2019, 10:01 AM

There's also "Shape Of You" being re-credited because of the "No Scrubs" sound-alike (though I'm not sure that was a lawsuit), and Marvin Gaye's estate tried to sue him for "Thinking Out Loud" but that didn't get anywhere.

Posted by: Mart!n 10th May 2019, 10:03 AM

Just as expected to wake up to this morning, honestly I don't know how Ed and Justin came together for a song that is featured on a Children's movie, about Angry Birds. Go figure biggrin.gif I guess this be #1 for the next 3 months drama.gif for such a dull track.

Fans will buy anything and believe it’s quality and defend it to the death. Many even take slights on the artist/song as personal attacks. Never had the fan-like mindset to understand it.

I thought the same; it is very SYWLG; even down to the lyric about holding her hair back as she's puking up.

It's funny how up and down James is with his singles. He's very lucky that when he finds the right song it will just take off all by itself, on downloads at least. It's top 15 on U.S. iTunes too.

The haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate. Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake. I shake it off... tongue.gif

EDIT: also love that new Zayn song. It's his best since Pillowtalk imo. Zhavia is fantastic there too. I had forgotten there was a version of this song from Katie Price and Peter Andre. laugh.gif

In an environment where a near exact clone of James Arthur (with worse songs) can get a song to #1 for 7 weeks it's hardly surprising that the real James Arthur can also still get big hits laugh.gif I loved 'Say You Won't Let Go' so if this song is similar I quite look forward to hearing it ~

James Arthur is nowhere near as awful as he was when his career began but I still wish it had been Matt Cardle that had the career resurgence.

It forever baffles and frustrates me that James Arthur got a second resurgence. It's just wrong and it shouldn't have happened, and it's still ongoing!

Why is it such a travesty; I get he was dick at the start, however has apologised and obviously got through his depression etc.

Is it just people don;t like his voice as the level of hate on here seem way OTT

Posted by: Cqmerqn 11th May 2019, 03:59 PM

He was a dick to begin with yeah, ‘apologised’ and has been mostly quiet ever since. He must have a great PR team!

I remember one not too long ago on C5.

James Arthur's Empty Space was goods surprised it didn't peak higher, think it peaked at #22
but let's not forget he released that duet with Anne-Marie, one of the worst covers in recent years

Posted by: SKOB 12th May 2019, 09:02 AM

You're all acting like James Arthur is going to debut in top ten or sth. The song is currently #63 on Spotify.

Only reached #3 officially (though it did go to #1 on iTunes, in which case I think it was the last to make it there).

I think it would've been 'Ooh Aah (Just A Little Bit)' officially.

Euphoria didn't actually get to #1 in the UK, it reached #3. I think the last Eurovision song to reach number one was 'Ooh Aah... Just A Little Bit' by Gina G?

Welp, Dan got there first laugh.gif

Lol I didn't say they would stream either. Although to be fair, she's doing better than I imagined on iTunes. I didn't realise Move Over Darling was originally by her.

Doris Day was one of the last 2 living artists who were on the very first UK singles chart (14 November 1952): http://scans.chartarchive.org/UK/1952/01%20-%2015%20November%20-%20NME%20Singles.jpg

Just Vera Lynn (102) still alive now.
