Recently we've had some truly laughable drop offs from the top 10 in the albums chart, it seems to be becoming a regular occurance now that album sales are so poor. Here are all the albums that have dropped straight out of the top 40 since June.
Britney Spears ~ Glory [2-41-] Bugzy Malone ~ Facing Time [6-62-x] A Day To Remember ~ Bad Vibrations [6-71-] KT Tunstall ~ Kin [7-63-] Divine Comedy ~ Foreverland [7-77-] Bat For Lashes ~ The Bride [9-61-] Wild Beasts ~ Boy King [9-75-] Twin Atlantic ~ GLA [9-79-] Teenage Fanclub ~ Here [10-89-] Dexys ~ Let The Record Show [10-x] Moose Blood ~ Blush [10-x] Three of those were top 10 last week. Share any other examples. |

Not a second week drop, but Westlife's debut album dropped 3-37 in January 2001, which I believe was a record drop within the Top 40 at the time (perhaps still is).

Marina's 'Froot' dropped from #10 to #44. Actually she's never spent more than her debut week in the Top 10 with all three of her albums :/ ('The Family Jewels': 5-16 and 'Electra Heart': 1-13).

I remember that, it went 79-3-37 in the space of three weeks, presumably it had been on some special deal for one week only though I can't remember now. |

Led Zeppelin dropped from 9 to 59 and 10 to 67 respectively last August with Coda and Presence. Both were re-issues however..
I think this will become increasingly commonplace as sales continue to dwindle in amongst a steady sale for heavily streamed artists which fanbase acts will fall hard behind on week 2. This post has been edited by Doctor Blind: 24th September 2016, 12:42 PM |

Nobody mentioning the infamous 1-29 drop by Christina Aguilera's Bionic?

(*) Troye Sivan 5-51 (*) Bars & Melody's 143. a teen duo who came to fame on Britain's Got Talent, achieve the rare and unwanted distinction of dropping from number four to a position just outside the Top 200 with sales off a massive 94.93% week-on-week at 549, 10 fewer than the number 200 album. At least Xmas albums have a good excuse for it... This post has been edited by vidcapper: 24th September 2016, 02:00 PM |

Saint Raymond's Young Blood dropped from 8 to 97 (89 places down)
Now this has to be the worst drop from the Top 10 for an album on the albums chart (not counting positions below 100) |

Iron Maiden had a number of "albums" make big drops down the Albums chart in 1990. However the fact they charted on the Album chart was just on a technicality as they were double 12" singles which were counted for chart purposes as albums rather than singles:
Running Free / Sanctuary: 10-38-58-75 Women In Uniform / Twilight Zone: 10-47-59 Purgatory / Maiden Japan: 5-51-69 Run To the Hills / The Number Of The Beast: 3-50 Flight Of Icarus / The Trooper: 7-53 Running Free / Run To The Hills: 9-55 Wasted Years / Stranger In A Strange Land: 9-57 Can I Play With Madness: 10-46-75 |

Wait, wait!!
This thread shoulda waited for Joanne to be released for a truly record flop drop. Omg can't believe that Glory TRASH charted higher than In The Zone and will go down as 'officially' more successful even though ITZ was a Rihanna style chart hit slow burner |

Just because Glory charted higher doesn't mean it was more successful than In The Zone "Official" success is based on sales and longevity which ITZ had. |

Lol. So an album that dropped from 2 to 41 to 94 will be considered more successful than an album that peaked at 13 yet had huge longevity. Ok then....
