If you admire a supporting actor who never got to be star but was great in so many things, time to give them a mention....
Me first... JAMES HONG 90 years young American actor of Hong Kong descent and has been working non-stop since 1954. BEST MOMENT: Mr Ping, Po's dad in the Kung Fu Panda movies. Never fails to bring tears to my eyes, he's so sweet. Just some of his cult TV bits: Films: Blade Runner (amazing small role as an eye-surgeon) The Satan Bug Airplane! Big Trouble In Little China Wayne's World 2 Mulan RIPD TV: The New Adventures Of Charlie Chan (50's) Zorro (50's) The Outer Limits (60's) The Fugitive (60's) The Man From UNCLE (60's) I Dream Of Jeannie (60's) Hawaii 5-0 (60/70's) Mission:Impossible (60's) Kung Fu (70's) The Rockford Files (70's) The Bionic Woman (70's) Wonder Woman (70's) Fantasy Island (80's) Soap (80's) The A Team (80's) War Of The Worlds (80's) Seinfeld (90's) The Adventures Of Brisco County Jr (90's) Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman (90's) The X-Files (90's) Friends (90's) Malcolm In The Middle (00's) Teen Titans (00's) Chuck (00's) Agents Of SHIELD (10's) and so, so much more. Totally reliable which is why he has always been in demand and still is busy doing video game soundtracks, TV voice-work and so on. I can't stress how good so many on the list are - they are just my own choices, but he's been in almost everything!  If you've a spare hour, this covers quite a bit.. |

Love this thread. I shall have a long think about this and get back to you! But two modern day ones for me would be Anton Yelchin & Lucas Hedges! Both really talented and actors that people won't necessarily know by name but will know by certain roles etc..

i've never heard of anton i'll have to check him out
vincent cassel springs to mind straight away for me. he sorta got recognition for his role in black swan but nothing major or award worthy. his filmography is just sublime. especially 'irreversible' |

Vincent Cassel I'd not been aware of - though I knew the name. He's been in a lot, and looks like a future regular in Westworld, so that's something to look forward to..

Not an unsung actress by any means but I always thought Cameron Diaz was snubbed massively for My Sisters Keeper. Her performance was amazing and she didn't get one major award recognition. If it had been Angelina Jolie or Meryl Streep in that role they would have been nominated for everything

anyone recall my bigging up of the fabulous James Hong 4 years ago. FINALLY, at 94, some kudos coming at the SAGAFTRA awards for the new classic brilliant Everything Everywhere All At Once, along with the rest of the cast. He started out with the ground-breakingly modern comic Grouch Marx in the 50s. When he did Blade Runner he was already over 50!!
