BuzzJack Music Forum _ Dance _ M-22 feat. Medina - First Time

Posted by: lewistgreen 4th February 2018, 03:28 PM

English/German DJ duo M-22 have been around since 2015 having released a few singles, remixes and producing for the likes of Pixie Lott and Robin Schulz. Their name comes from the date the duo met, March 22nd (how inventive kink.gif).

'First Time' is their current single and feels like a smash in the waiting with its solid house production. It features Danish singer Medina, who is probably best known for her 2009 single 'You And I'. The track has recently been added to the Hot Hits UK playlist on Spotify!

can't get enough of it! music.gif it really sounds like it should be released around 2010 or so, then the song would achieve more.
Have no hope for radio support ofc etc.

Let's hope somehow it will manage to scrape top 40!!!

Posted by: lewistgreen 4th May 2018, 02:30 PM

Remixes are out now, Sammy Porter is on fire on his version!

Posted by: danG 4th May 2018, 02:58 PM

starting to grow on me this but I still don't quite love it, would like it to reach the top 40 though just to have a house track make it but I can't see it making it sadly.

Posted by: lewistgreen 4th May 2018, 03:01 PM

We potentially have this and NOTD making traction if they stay on the Hot Hits UK playlist!

First Time's current chart run:
98-98-89-88-80-62-60-53

Posted by: danG 4th May 2018, 03:26 PM

Well it's on Hot Hits but only barely top 200, it needs a higher placing.

Posted by: lewistgreen 4th May 2018, 04:46 PM

Up to #53 this week!

Posted by: lewistgreen 11th May 2018, 07:17 AM

Playlisted by Capital and now A List on Radio 1 this week! PLEASE now go Top 40!

Posted by: mdh 11th May 2018, 07:24 AM

This really is the lowest denominator of dance music, piss weak.

I find the endless tropical house covers and future bass stuff to be the lowest denominator.

This sounds a bit like 'This Is What You Came For' to me (but better).

One of my favourite commercial dance tracks of the year so far, myself. There hasn't been much on offer of course!

Posted by: Dobbo 11th May 2018, 09:15 AM

Yeah commercial dance is dead at the minute, which really baffles me because it's the type of music that should be extremely stream-friendly?!

Posted by: lewistgreen 11th May 2018, 06:20 PM

Into the Top 40 at #36 this week! *.* cheer.gif

This definitely reminds in style of 'Places' by Martin Solveig and Ina Wroldsen from last year, it has a similar vocal style and drop style, although it is more tropical and less piano sounding.

Yay for it going top 40, I used to hate this kind of pitched vocal drop dance but I have come round to it now as I am grateful for any proper dance music in the charts!

This is a BOP

Posted by: HausofTroye 28th May 2018, 11:06 PM

So good to have Medina back (and charting!!). What a queen.

Posted by: ſnlᴉɐuo 28th May 2018, 11:19 PM

Okay I thought I was just late to the party with this song when I heard it on the radio the other day and thought why I had never heard it, turns out it's the whole world.

Posted by: danG 29th May 2018, 12:53 PM

good to see this actually becoming a decent sized hit, and it's still climbing on Spotify thanks to a high placement on their 'Summer Hits UK' playlist. biggrin.gif

Posted by: JOTA 28th June 2018, 08:45 PM

Music video is out tomorrow!

About time!

Posted by: danG 28th June 2018, 09:18 PM

great timing! not that I'm excited for the music video but if it helps it up the chart with video streaming then that'll be good.

Posted by: danG 29th June 2018, 02:41 PM

Posted by: Tedward 29th June 2018, 02:48 PM

Thinking this could go Top 10 now ohmy.gif REALLY good timing on the video release and #5 on Hot Hits UK!

Posted by: Rooney 29th June 2018, 03:07 PM

Song of the summer for me - absolute bop

Posted by: LeeWallace 30th June 2018, 12:30 AM

Agreed.

Posted by: lewistgreen 1st July 2018, 11:11 AM

So impressed at the climb and prolonged exposure this song has had considering it was released 7 months ago!

Posted by: Dobbo 1st July 2018, 11:30 AM

This is what I consider an 'accidental' hit. There was nothing remotely distinguishing about this song (in terms of prevalence, certainly not quality) compared with the hundreds of other songs posted on the Dance Forum in 2017 but something randomly caused this to take off out of nowhere. Obviously all parties involved were not expecting it as they didn't put out a video for absolutely ages!
