To top off what has been a brilliant era so far, the girls have been CONFIRMED to be performing at the awards ceremony on 26th February. It's also worth noting that some times (well more times than not) the BRITs, tend to award their performers. But we shall see.

This is absolutely fantastic news for the girls whether they perform one of the first two singles or their new one. SO PROUD FOR THEM. Now just to wait for noms tonight. Best Single and Best Video are pretty much locks for nominations, but group doesn't look as likely, but we'll see.

Omg SLS really could be a Someone Like You moment, PLEASE. So happy they're going to be performing anyway, I hope it isn't Black Magic but that is a solid 20/10 anyway and it's just great to see them have such a huge performance lined up.

The nominations in general are an absolute shambles, fingers crossed they've got a chance at best single. Idk if 1D's fans are still as rabid as before but let's hope the Mixers can get them best video if not best single

It's not all about sales but what frustrates me is I think in general the public perception of them is better, they're "cooler" and the critical reception (for Black Magic in particular) has been good too. I think all of that should be taken into account, they're delivering on all fronts At least their sales/views have got them automatic nominations

Coldplay - They managed to, very frontloadedly sell more albums so far. But Little Mix sold more singles and their album did better critically
One Direction - Sold more singles and albums than 1D
Blur - They sold more singles and albums than Blur, but I think Blur's album was extremely well received critically
Years & Years - They had a great year, but Little Mix's album still sold significantly more in a much shorter period of time.
Foals - Little Mix sold 4x what they sold in albums and Foals didn't really have any high charting singles.

Obviously some of these still deserved nominations but Little Mix, it seems were overlooked for unknown reasons.

I really want them to do SLS but show their tight harmonies and only sing it to a piano backing track. I think it would really change the Brit's views towards girlbands

Yeah, I would have been shocked had Years & Years and Blur not been nominated, but as much as I love 1D, Little Mix deserve a place on that list more than they do this time around for sure. Tbh I think people are right, it's probably largely because they're a girl band, and that's not "cool" enough to be nominated. Just praying they win best single.

They surely must perform SLS in order to promote it. But a stripped back version could be one of the biggest moments of their career so far

Hmm. I'm thinking a 'Black Magic' performance is all but confirmed now. I'm incredibly over the moon that they have been asked to perform and are up for TWO Brit awards, but I really wouldn't be bothered if we got another 'Black Magic' performance (as much as they will obviously SLAY). I really want them to show the public that they are MORE than just a girl band who have great, catchy pop songs.

Absolutely ecstatic for the girls though. They are clearly over the moon about it all and it's so sweet seeing their reactions <3

I'm about 99% certain they'll do Black Magic now they don't have a Best Group nomination. Both their awards are 100% thanks to that song, whereas "Best Group" would have acknowledged their album, other singles and work as a whole.

The Brits will probably choose what they sing, and they'll probably want Little Mix there for bringing something big. Adele will sing a ballad, James Bay will probably sing a ballad and Justin Bieber will probbaly do Love Yourself (a ballad). So I can't see them wanting the same from Little Mix who are known for their epic performance skills.

I hope they can bring something special that we've not seen before.

If they must do 'Black Magic' then I'm hoping for a mash-up at least. 'Black Magic' is a good pop song but the following two singles are soooo much better, I do wish artists in general didn't have to waste a perfectly good promo opportunity by performing a hit that has been and gone months ago.

The thing is, as much as I'd love them to incorporate it somehow, given it's such an emotional song, I just don't know if SLS would work in a medley.

I think they could, quite easily, get the chance to perform SLS if they were to get Jason on board. But I can't see Jason coming to the UK to promote a Little Mix song when he has his own singles and album that he'd want to sing.

I would LOVE to see SLS performed but I'm coming to the realisation that it will most probably be Black Magic. As many have said - it is the reason why they are nominated in the first place.

Is Best Single not voted by the public anymore? I remember it was a few years back. They probably would have won that one, if it still was.

I'd like to hope the Brits don't have that much power over what exactly is sung - looking back at last year's, I know Paloma Faith and George Ezra performed their most successful hit from their album despite being months old but Take That managed to sing a new song, even though the chance of getting any sort of hit after their #1 was looking unlikely. Perhaps I'm just wishfully thinking though. That said, in regards to there potentially being too many ballads, I think James Bay may sing 'If You Ever Wanna Be In Love' or, failing that, 'Hold Back the River', but both are more upbeat and Justin Bieber I could see doing a medley given the close proximity of hits he's had. I think Little Mix have proven time and time again they can visually create a spectacular performance so I hope the focus is drawn to how well they can sing too.

Basically I'm just so over 'Black Magic' getting performed over and over again on big promotional slots. It's the same with any x months old hits because it's really not worth it for a one week re-entry in the Top 40 and it rarely improves the longevity of the album.

100% agree. I don't have much to add that you haven't said - but I can see Black Magic getting a brief boost but the album not doing much from it. Whereas I can see a SLS performance not only giving them a huge boost on iTunes (one that actually sticks for a few weeks) but also having the album doing huge numbers again.

Well, the 'Black Magic' IS the best video there tbh. Naughty Boy 2nd. I just hate how 1D will win despite it being pretty average and nothingy. The 'King', 'Hello' and 'Photograph' videos are worthy of completing the top 5. I'd switch 1D with Naughty Boy and it'd be a great top 5.

Well hopefully it'll boost the album up. But of all the singles, i feel it'll be the one that'll provide the smallest boost because it's been around for the longest, and it's already done so well; like i doubt it'll persuade many people to go and buy a load more little mix material. IDK could be wrong, but I was hoping it would be SLS or even LMLY. I ain't really living for another Black Magic performance, as amazing as it'll be, and as amazing as it is that they're getting to perform on such a big stage. *sigh*

I wouldn't read into it too much. Black Magic is the obvious choice to put on there as it was their biggest hit last year and was the sole reason they're nominated for 2 awards. It would be more weird if they put Secret Love Song on there as its not really a new hit compilation.

Having said that I still think they'll perform Black Magic.

I'm still really looking forward to it tbh, I'm confident they'll bring some sort of surprise and I'm sure Secret Love Song will have residual benefit from any Little Mix promo (remember the effect When The Bassline Drops had for Craig when he performed with R&B).

It does trouble me as a wasted opportunity though as, like I've mentioned before, I really believe they'd capture a whole new audience and it'd propel their fame to a whole new level with a more vocally powerful performance.

It would be good if they at least did 1 minute of SLS before bursting into Black Magic.

Y'know what. I don't care anymore. (as nice as it'd have been for SLS) I'm just so greatful and thankful that they have one of the biggest performance slots of their careers and WHAT A SONG that they get to perform!

Hopefully it'll give it a significant boost towards becoming an eventual million seller, quicker. I doubt they'll do enough to go top 40 again (maybe on itunes, but def not officially), but if it can reignite major interest in the album and get people who wouldn't usually notice them, to actually sit up and think "wow. They're great!" then I'd consider it a huge success. Also, I can see this boosting tour sales quite a bit!

Some good points made there, Jonjo. However, 'Secret Love Song' would give them that 'WOW' factor over 'Black Magic'. A fantastic vocal performance of SLS would put them on a whole new level, and would surprise a lot of people. As I've said before, SLS could be a potential #1 with that sort of exposure. 'Black Magic' just feels like a bit of a waste to be honest.

Oh, I completely get and understand why 'Secret Love Song' would be the most ideal performance, but I just see no reason as to why we should all be dwelling on it when it's one of the biggest performances of the year and just for the fact they have a huge, commercial girl group on the show is a step forward for the BRITS!

I do really want it to be SLS, because OM is right, I feel it would give the album a bigger boost than BM, and also put it into contention for number 1. And I think the vocal talents of the girls will really make people sit back and take notice of them, with some of the "cooler" audience writing them off as another generic pop group. But, I do agree Jonjo, whatever they perform will be completely flawless, and should have a great effect on the album if nothing else, and pushing BM closer to that Million would be amazing. Whatever they do, I agree, I'm just thrilled that they have been given this amazing opportunity, and the biggest moment of their career so far

It's ok. Hopefully if they are doing 'Black Magic' then they get an early slot to capitalise on the performance with award votes! I really think it could push them over the edge to beat 1D! Especially as I can't see anyone outside of the 1D fanbase wanting to vote for 1D...

In non-Little Mix news though, GUTTED Naughty Boy couldn't at least beat out Jessie to get to this round in the video category

I don't want to jinx it, but I am starting to feel as though Best British Single might be more possible than I originally thought.

No need to be sad. There was never really a huge chance they'd win, it's an uphill battle. They are much more likely to win next time.

Positive - they had easily the best performance of the night (Adele hasn't performed yet). And I think anyone would tell you that.

I doubt it with anything off Get Weird. Because it just won't smash the way Black Magic has, and a big reason why they were nominated. The only way I see them being nominated next year is if they go for another album release at the end of this year, and they have a black magic sized hit

As big as the girls' fanbase is, I never expected them to beat 1D in a fan voted award. It's sad because 1D don't deserve it for their video but it could be them on a white background or a lazy tour video and they'd win it, because of their fanbase.

Rightfully so! Till the day I die I will be mad they weren't up for best group over 1D. I can deal with losing best video. I like the Drag Me Down video, and obvs happy for 1D, plus i never expected to win really. But to not be nominated over another pop group they've outdone this era was a joke, and it's equally laughable that they've had to wait until said group goes on hiatus to get a sniff...honestly.

Just praying album 4 smashes even more than get weird, and they can actually win something next year (should they go down that route of course)

On a less ranty note : BM, SLS, and GW appear to be having nice little boosts from the amazing performance thus far

They're well and truly on the Brits radar now. And after 2 eras of not quite being at that level, they are now. And as long as they can sustain their success they'll have no issue getting nominations in the future. It took Girls Aloud until their 3rd or 4th year being nominated to finally win.

They more than knocked it out of the park with that performance, it was seriously world class and easily the performance of the night. I'm actually glad they performed 'Black Magic' now, that was such a moment of ecstasy.

Okay so I may have to kinda take back my disappointment at 'Black Magic' being performed yet again. Was easily the best performance (baring in mind I tuned out after the narcissistic Bowie tribute) and really proved themselves, showing it is possible to dance and sing live actually well (I know the chorus was mimed but the verse clearly weren't but were still note perfect). They all looked great too.

Just got back from work and just saw the performance...

HOLY CRAP. WOW. Looking forward to seeing it in HD, but even the shitty quality couldn't take away just how good that performance was. It really saddens me just how consistently good they are as performers and somehow they still seem really underrated?

I'm floored. Seriously, wow. It really puts it into perspective just how much harder girl bands have to work to be appreciated. I don't think I've seen a boyband performance that could rival this performance on the same level since *NSync/Backstreet Boys.

I think, as good as the performance was, they did something that is 9 months old and has sold close to 800k, so boosts were always going to minimum, it's a shame and is why they didn't perform SLS, but oh well, I'm glad they gave the amazing performance they did.

Hopefully they can incorporate SLS into their Ant & Dec performance on Sat. That must have a bigger audience figure than the Brits had seeing as the Brits were up against the Sports Relief Great British Bake Off.

It was a strong performance in most, the miming of the chorus let the performance down. The dance moves were wonderful and it was so energetic. Black Magic as its out so long and sold well wont get a huge boost, that said, i would be disappointed if the album doesn't see a sales increase this week regardless of its position.

The performance was just as awesome as I remember It is a shame they haven't had bigger boosts on both single, and album, but it was always going to be difficult to get Black Magic to sell much more with it already selling so well. Surprised the album hasn't had a better boost though, it looks like they're experiencing the worst boost of all the performers, but maybe with them being a girlband that was to be expected as well

Also rewatching the performance, I don't think the chorus was completely mimed. It sounded like Leigh-Anne was singing little bits of it here and there, to give it a more live feeling

The mics were on during the chorus just incase they wanted to sing I think (coz like you, I could hear little bits here and there). But I guess the label decided it was best if they took it easy on the chorus due to the performance.

Also, I knew it wouldn't affect the album too much. It's not much of an album selling song unlike 'Love Me Like You' or 'Secret Love Song', imo. It's far too pop for it to sell the album alone. I'm sure they'll get a sales boost of some sort, but I do think the other performers will experience bigger boosts. Lets hope Ant & Dec on Saturday can keep the album steady!

Agreed. In the final chorus where they do their thing with warbles here and there were definitely live. I don't think it matters that they mimed the main body of the chorus as it was clear why they did and it's clear they've proven themselves in the rest of the performance. I'd say one would be pretty pedantic to judge the whole performance based on that little bit of miming.

I think the best thing about the performance is seeing how happy they were to be there and be performing on that stage! It's absolutely wonderful to see them like that and it really couldn't be more deserved. Their progression to this stage in their career was very natural and thus making it feel more deserving. They've worked so hard for that moment and pulled it out the bag big time.

It's a great time to be a Mixer and I really believe that they will only progress further from here.

I'm actually so glad they did Black Magic. I know we're all caught up on chart positions here but as I've distanced from this site, I don't really care AS much these days. The show was littered in ballads and a total lack of life, which Little Mix really injected AND MORE. I may have seen this perform it live many times now, but no matter how many, they still manage to bring something fresh which gets me SO excited each and every time. That's the sign of absolute stars <3.
