US BOX OFFICE ESTIMATES - JUNE 16-18 2017

1 CARS 3 - $53,547,000
2 WONDER WOMAN - $40,775,000
3 ALL EYEZ ON ME - $27,050,000
4 THE MUMMY - $13,916,010
5 47 METERS DOWN - $11,500,000
-
7 ROUGH NIGHT - $8,040,000

Decent numbers for Cars but slightly lower openings that the first two (Cars 1 opened at $60million and Cars 2 opened highest at $66 million - it seems that entry killed off a bit of the goodwill of the Cars franchise).

AMAZING hold for Wonder Woman (only a 30.3% drop!). Despite being 'only' the 40th highest opening weekend of all-time in the US, that makes it the 11th highest ever third weekend which gives you a indication of how good those holds are. Both Man of Steel and Suicide Squad only made $20 million in their third weekends, just over half of Wonder Woman's third weekend w00t.gif

Pretty dreadful for ScarJo and her comedy though, I'm still looking forward to it though heehee.gif

Daniel Day-Lewis has announced he is retiring from acting. His final role will be in the upcoming Paul Thomas Anderson (The Master, There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights) film rumoured to be called Phantom Thread!

Also, A Dog's Purpose may be getting a sequel due to its financial success. It made $193million worldwide on a small $22million production budget so will have made a big profit, largely thanks to the mega box office it achieved in China!

I never got around to seeing A Dog's Purpose but maybe I should, everyone said it was cute little film. I wonder where they's take a sequel though in terms of moving the plot forward? laugh.gif

Well really I think they should be doing a spin-off based around cats

Omg, I would totally watch this because cats > dogs to be honest. We need an Animal's Purpose movie universe with solo films for cats, rabbits, fish and tortoises leading up to the eventual team-up movie!! Everything else seems to be getting an extended movie universe so why not heehee.gif laugh.gif

Yeah, it's been filming for a while now. Wonder how they'll deal with this quickly so as not to disrupt shooting. I hope it manages to pull through and still be a great film, I'm really hyped for it.

In other news, Carnage is set to be the antagonist in the upcoming Venom movie starring Tom Hardy cheer.gif

Corey Stoll (set to play Buzz Aldrin) and Kyle Chandler have joined Damien Chazelle's upcoming Neil Armstrong biopic, "First Man". It also has the screenwriter of Spotlight and stars Ryan Gosling (as Armstrong) and Claire Foy as the two leads. This looks REALLY promising in my opinion, probably one to pencil in already for Oscars 2019 heehee.gif

Soooo, Ron Howard has already stepped in as the new director. He's a bit hit and miss but he can be very good with the right film so I've still got high hopes for this. Hoping it's one of his better movies up there with A Beautiful Mind or Frost/Nixon rather than the likes of Inferno or In the Heart of the Sea drama.gif
