David Bowie is still number one!
And the number one spot is still occupied by the late, great David Bowie, although after letting Life On Mars? top the chart for a week (the latter falls to #5) Ashes To Ashes climbs back to grab a sixth week at the top. Subsequently, poor Hymn For The Weekend spends a third week at number two, after falling to #3 last week. If we excluded the Bowie tracks, it would be spending its fourth week at number one. Meanwhile, as we reach its 30th anniversary, Absolute Beginners climbs two places to #3. With the release of the Tinie Tempah version, Lush Life remains at #4. It spends its 13rd week in the top 10. Finally, Life On Mars? falls four places to #5. When We Were Young climbs 5 places to #6, I Took A Pill In Ibiza skyrockets 77 places (second only to Boom Clap's 87 place climb for biggest climb ever) to #7 and Starman jumps 8 places to #8. Say You Do leaps 11 places to #9, and Lazarus falls 4 places to #10. Other notable tracks At #20, we have Tinie Tempah and Zara Larsson with Girls Like, which starts at #20. Meanwhile, following the release of the Tove Lo version, Desire re-enters at #33. For further notice, success as the Tove Lo will be included in the original's run. Following the release of I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It (exhausting. The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars looks short in comparaison) The Sounds re-enters at #56. The Voice has an effect as Kate Bush's masterpiece This Woman's Work re-enters at #77. On the sales chart, it is at #33 this week, just 8 places lower than its criminally low peak of #25, but streaming pushes it out of the top 100 completely. Which means all of the songs in this week's official chart to have 'Work' in the title are crap. The Night Thoughts songs are moving up the chart. Tightrope climbs from #42 to #18, I Can't Give Her What She Wants climbs from #45 to #23, When You Are Young climbs from #49 to #43, The Fur & The Feathers climbs from #60 to #51, I Don't Know How To Reach You moves from #89 to #65, When You Were Young climbs from #90 to #75 and What I'm Trying To Tell You is new at #83. Jump They Say, The Man Who Sold The World and Drive-In Saturday enter at #83, #88 and respectively. Meanwhile, Magic Dance and The Next Fall drop out, which means David Bowie extends his record to 27 songs in the top 100. |
