This is what I think of as proper snooker, i.e. none of this "best of nine frames" nonsense.

Just watching the end of the McGill v Maguire match. A good win for the Crucible debutant.

Barry Hawkins just can't close out matches can he? Last year he was 11-5 up against Dominic Dale then Dale fought back, but Hawkins won 13-12 and today Barry was 7-2 up against Matthew Selt and then won 10-9.

Neil Robertson comfortably through to the next round with a 10-2 win over Jamie Jones.

Judd Trump going through 10-6 against Stuart Carrington. Although he was 7-2 up and Carrington did fight back.

How do people see the second-round matches going?

Joe Perry v Murphy/Hull
Barry Hawkins v Mark Allen
Ali Carter v Neil RObertson
Ding Junhui v John Higgins
Marco Fu v Judd Trump
Graeme Dott v Stuart Bingham
Matthew Stevens v Ronnie O'Sullivan

Four-time world champion John Higgins went out 13-9 to Ding Junhui who goes through to only his second world quarter-final.

I seem to be making a habit of only seeing the end of sessions. I saw the last couple frames tonight, including Bingham finishing with a bit of a flukey red from a snooker, and then missing a fairly simple blue.

As we go into the final session with Stuart Bingham leading Shaun Murphy 14-11. This has quite easily been one of the best world finals for a long time.

What a great final, with a worthy winner and a gracious loser.

One of the best world finals I've seen for a long time.

Well done to Stuart Bingham who has tried for 20 years as a professional to win it at the age of 38 which makes him the oldest winner since Ray Reardon. The bottle that Stuart showed during the last two frames was fantastic.

Shaun Murphy a gallant runner-up and showing some great sportsmanship in defeat.
