Jessica Lange, Zachary Quinto & Evan Peters are all returning for Season 2 as different characters with Lange's character being in the centre of it all. I know of some people who think Ryan Murphy has trouble maintaining a show to a really good standard after the first season but I think he knows what he's doing here getting those three back on board.

Posted by: GRIMLY FIENDISH 3rd March 2012, 10:42 AM

Hmmmm, I tend to think that maybe they should just do completely different stories in different locales in America... I believe first season was LA..? Why not do New Orleans, Chicago, Boston, or other cities in subsequent seasons..? That would make it more apt with regards to the title of the show...

Posted by: HumperJáhq 3rd March 2012, 10:49 AM

I believe the second season is going to be set somewhere on the East Coast on America.

Posted by: Jonjoria 3rd March 2012, 05:09 PM

I'm still not sure how it'll work with them coming back in a completely different setting, as completely different characters and what not. Going to watch it though and can't wait for it, naturally!

Glad that Jessica and Evan are definitely coming back though! They were the serious highlights of the first season for me.

Posted by: Johnkm 3rd March 2012, 05:13 PM

Oh YAY, they brought back the 3 best actors, now for more brooding Evan Peters hotness *.*

Posted by: Joao. 3rd March 2012, 06:16 PM

Glad to hear Evan Peters is back biggrin.gif Strangely hoping Ashley Rickards makes an appearance somewhere with him just to relive OTH fandom. I'm intrigued about Jessica Lange's character in the new season although I'm slightly worried about where Ryan Murphy is going to take it.

"[Season two]is set on the East Coast at an institution for the criminally insane that is run by Jessica," Murphy said Wednesday night. "It's a completely different world and has nothing to do with season one, there's not a mention of season one. The second season is set in a completely different time period."

Jessica Lange running a mental institution could not sound anymore fabulous. Adam Levine is going to be in this season too.

I hope (and expect) her to run it with an IRON FIST *.*

New season starts in October, so didn't want to start a new thread so early. But I am getting more and more impatient waiting for this! I need it back in my life, pronto! sad.gif (Season one DVD isn't out until October either! manson.gif)

QUOTE
We already know that Season 2 of "American Horror Story" will include some familiar faces from Season 1, but they will not be in the same place, at the same time, or playing the same characters.

Creator Ryan Murphy previously revealed that the sophomore season of the divisive FX series will be set in an insane asylum. But in a recent interview with Vulture, in which he discussed everything from his personal life to his other series "Glee" and next season's NBC comedy "The New Normal," Murphy spilled some more details about Season 2.

"The new season is set in the 1960s and Chloe Sevigny, for example, plays a character who was put in an asylum because she was a woman who likes sex," Murphy told Vulture in the in-depth interview. "At the time, you were able to put people away for that. Another character is institutionalized for being a lesbian. To me, there’s nothing more scary than somebody coming to you and saying they’re going to take you away and put you in a mad house and you have no legal rights and there you shall stay till the end of your days. That is a real horror."

Though there were no further details Season 2 star Jessica Lange, Murphy did reveal that Evan Peters, who played "ultimate badass bad boy" Tate Langdon, will be "the hero of the show" in Season 2. "It’s not like the actors are playing similar parts. They’re going to look different, they’re going to sound different, they’re going to have different accents," Murphy explained to Vulture. "It’s a different time period. The actors are so excited to do that and hopefully their enthusiasm will translate."

In addition to Lange and Peters, Season 1 stars Zachary Quinto, Lily Rabe and Sarah Paulson will be back for Season 2. Sevigny, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and James Cromwell will also join the "American Horror Story" cast for Season 2. A relatively unknown French actress named Lizzie Brocheré will be playing a femme fatale named Gia.

And although Season 2 hasn't even started yet, Murphy is thinking ahead. "I even know what the third season would be," he said. "There are very, very many different kinds of haunted houses in our culture."

I like this kind of series. I love to watch horror show. I also like The Walking Dead. These both are my favorites. I watch these series online through Otavo.tv/

Evan Peters naked *.*

Adam Levine should probably stick to singing (& judging) though.

Posted by: Conderella 18th October 2012, 05:28 PM

WHOOPEY. I'm starting to SEE THE FUSS.

Not watched it (yet) though. Are the seasons connected? Because this one is apparently called 'AHS: Asylum'...

Posted by: Jáhq 18th October 2012, 05:38 PM

No, the storylines/setting/characters are completely different.

Posted by: Conderella 18th October 2012, 05:42 PM

But that guy was in the first season as well?

Posted by: dannjohn3 18th October 2012, 05:42 PM

4 of the current cast were in it last series.

Evan got hotter. It's amazing what a haircut can do.

Posted by: Joao. 19th October 2012, 08:33 PM

Loved the season opener. Jessica Lange is wonderful. Bloody Face genuinely made me scream. Seeing gifs of it still makes me terrified.

Posted by: Jonjo 21st October 2012, 02:58 AM

Brilliant opening to the season. It's already better than majority of Season 1! Very pleased with how they've managed to keep a few members of the cast from Season 1 and got them to do something a little different for this season. Jessica Lange really knows how to play the ultimate bitch though, doesn't she? ohmy.gif

Posted by: Joao. 25th October 2012, 10:33 PM

I'm finding this season to be truly terrifying. A big improvement on the first season which wasn't that scary at all. Bloody Face is probably my worst nightmare.

Posted by: J❂hnkm 25th October 2012, 10:37 PM

I'm finding it quite uncomfortable truth be told, but not because it's scary. It's still about as scary as Jimmy Saville. More just from the (admittedly accurate of the time) treatment of the 'patients', particularly Lana. I just want her to get out of there so badly and take that BITCH Jude down. Unlike in S1 where Lange was playing a fabulously cunty old bitch this time she seems to out and out vile, which is not something I can get on board with as easily. The Doctor's seedy little fetishes were quite amusing though and I like him and the other nun having their little moments, he's totally going to RUIN her at some point.

Oh and more Evan Peters naked ass please thanks.

Posted by: Jonjo 26th October 2012, 12:44 AM

But isn't that the point of Jessica's character (Jude? unsure.gif) this time around though? I think she's portraying the role perfectly tbh. I get that it's uncomfortable to watch at times though, but it's what I want from a show like this. I hate it when I route for the bad guy really. So the fact I am routing for the patients is a good thing in my books. Still need to catch episode 2 though, tbf. But my friend seems to be having the same problem as you though, so you're definitely not alone.

the only thing I think that's unnecessary, is the amount of nudity/raunchiness in it. Have nudity/sex/raunchiness in your shows, sure, but don't over do it and in most places it seems randomly put in, just for the sake of causing "controversy" or whatever.

Posted by: J❂hnkm 26th October 2012, 09:00 AM

Oh no I get that that's the point and Jessica really is acting it brilliantly, as one would expect, it's just not what I want to see. I love rooting for the bad guy though, I almost always DO because they are much stronger characters and much more interesting (and often get the best lines *.*).

As for the Nu-Di-TY, it's Ryan Murphy, he's all about SHOCK VALUE for NO REASON. Like the speech Chloe Sevigny had in this episode about being a whore, I liked it for a change, but it's done with his usual complete lack of subtlty and I'm sure it irked a lot of people.

Posted by: Mart!n 30th October 2012, 11:06 PM

Holy f***, just seen the first episode on F/X, I'm hooked. I can't get the image out of my head when the guy's arm was pulled off

Posted by: Scherz 30th October 2012, 11:36 PM

I was putting off watching this because the first season was so ghost heavy, it kinda creeped me out (I hate ghosts).
But I'm glad I watched the first two today because I'm totally hooked. Gosh, I absolutely adore Jessica Lange!
She takes her characters to places a lot of established actresses would dream of in their whole careers in a 3 minute scene!
And I know it's been mentioned, but Evan Peters' nakedness is just an absolute bonus to top off an already amazing viewing experience!
And we're ghost free, yay!

Very interesting read: http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/11/15/american-horror-story-ryan-murphy-bloody-face/

A tad spoilerific though, so if you don't want anything spoiled don't read. The scene with Lily next episode sounds AMAZING.

Posted by: Jonjo 16th November 2012, 09:11 PM

Genuinely shocked at the unveiling of Bloody Face! The whole "monster" story is intriguing me the most now though! The alien storyline is amazing too. I knew he wasn't lying. I thought it was pretty obvious it'd go that way from the word go though. Although the episode before that did well in making me doubt that laugh.gif The creepy old doctor guy is genuinely disturbing though. I like the idea of him, but he's a bit TOO creepy for my liking! I hope he gets what's coming to him asap! laugh.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 1st December 2012, 04:37 AM

Is anyone else feeling like this is just going round and round at the moment? I am getting infuriated with the whole "Kit did it" thing and how that news reporter is being made to think/believe she is mentally ill etc.. Ugh. I just want this all to get moving forward now and not feel like the whole episode has gone to waste or whatever, by having the same/similar results by the end of the episode. The only thing that is moving forward is Sister Jude and her condition at the moment! sad.gif

I am still loving it though, just getting a bit "this is getting repetitive now" and it's annoying laugh.gif

Posted by: dannjohn3 1st December 2012, 09:30 AM

I have to say... Lily Rabe is sensational!

And it was such a welcome return for Frances Conroy..

Posted by: Mart!n 1st December 2012, 10:46 AM

I've missed one episode, and I think it was the one I needed to watch to fill the gap, last week's episode I'm lost now. And I have to agree with Jon, this series seems to be going nowhere at the moment, it just needs a little boot and I'm finding it a bit slow, its probably because I love the action in the Walking Dead which is moving really fast.

It seems to have moved onto a second storyline with the reporter getting abducted by Anthony Quinto, its taken some action away from the creepy house, not sure if its a good move or not.

Posted by: dannjohn3 6th January 2013, 11:06 PM

Lily Rabe... sensational.

Posted by: MoistPlinth 8th January 2013, 10:23 PM

This episode is bizarre. it seems to have turned into High School Musical wacko.gif

Posted by: Hayzayy 29th January 2013, 06:17 PM

So, what's everyone's opinion about the finale of this season ?

I think it was disappointing and VERY fustrating how they didn't give a single element of explanation about the aliens whatsoever.
The whole alien thing was totally irevealant to this season if it was meant to lead to nothing at all, other than "they do exist so deal with it"... It's like they put aliens in this season to make it more exciting but they didn't really know what to do with them so they kept teasing us with the aliens all season long for nothing in the end. It's just so RANDOM, especially since the season started with the aliens and 12 episodes and a finale later, we don't know anything more about them than we knew in the first ep already. Eeeek.

Posted by: Jonjo 29th January 2013, 07:15 PM

I thought they wrapped it up pretty much the only way possible, really. Well I really liked the way it ended! Everyone involved was so, so good! Everything with Kit & Sister Jude had me in tears just about. Then when they both finally died, that was it, I was a wreck! laugh.gif Lana selling her stories and things was an interesting (but predictable all the same) way of going about things, then the final scenes with her and Johnny were so tense.

Yeah, after a slow middling point, this got going towards the end and it all turned out just as good (if not better) than the first season for me. Really liked the way they wrapped things up too. Roll on Season 3! Intrigued to hear about the ideas of what that "story" is going to be.

Posted by: J▼hnkm 29th January 2013, 10:39 PM

I think it did end up being the better of the 2 seasons, though S2 was definitely more patchy along the way for me than S1. The finale clinched it for me, it was the right balance of emotional, 'scary' and tense. Old Lana looked awful (the contacts were really distracting) but I loved all the scenes between then and now and the final scene with her and Johnny (whilst a tad predictable) was a properly tense scene.

Holy shit. Just started watching (in a horror show/film mood lately) and this show is quite incredible. Episode 2 *.*

Posted by: パーベル 8th February 2013, 06:36 AM

Season 1 of this is just some of the best horror TV I've seen in a while. A whole different spin on the cliched haunted house theme. Cannot WAIT to start season 2.

Also, Taissa Farmiga and Frances Conroy are returning for season 3 wub.gif

Jessica Lange is FANTASTIC.

All I can say is... the final episodes were good, but the main problem is when Lily Rabe died so did the show.
