BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ Friday Chart Predictions

Posted by: DANKENSTEIN 8th October 2017, 09:49 AM

Liam Gallagher is certain to take this week's #1 album with 'As You Were', his debut solo album. The big question is whether he can sell over 100,000 albums in one week. Other new albums challenging for a top 10 position include Elvis Presley and the RPO 'Christmas', Giggs 'Wamp 2 Dem', JP Cooper 'Raised Under Grey Skies' and Marilyn Manson 'Heaven Upside Down'.

In the singles chart we could see Post Malone feat. 21 Savage 'rockstar' at #1 again or could Camila Cabello feat. Young Thug 'Havana' overtake it to give both artists their first #1? Contending for top 40 positions this week are new singles from Sam Smith 'Pray', Charlie Puth 'How Long' and Giggs feat. Donae'o 'Linguo'. Also Liam Gallagher's 'For What It's Worth' could finally make the top 40 following the release of his album, and CamelPhat & Elderbrook 'Cola' could climb into the top 40.

Minty also posted that liam sold 1/4 relative to Ed
on day 1
So 232k/4= 58k

Posted by: timjimlee 8th October 2017, 01:22 PM

Foregone conclusion in the Album chart this week, only real question is how close Liam's Album can get to 100k.
Ed should move back up to #2 with possibly Giggs at #3, 'Landlord' opened at #2 in August last year with Sales of 11,437. If he does manage to improve his Sales and nick a consecutive #2 placing it will come a week after Wolf Alice secured consecutive #2 Albums.

Liam Gallagher always set for a big number one debut, I just hope it stays a consistent seller and stays around the top 10 for a while after this week.

"LIAM GALLAGHER is set for a huge No.1 album after selling more than the rest of the chart’s top 75 combined."
"The former Oasis star shifted over 55,000 copies of his debut solo record As You Were in just one day.
His nearest competitor is The Darkness, who are currently sitting in second place with 4,000 sales.
Liam’s numbers include a huge 40,000 from people who pre-ordered the critically acclaimed recor

I reckon around 85k at the end of the week, as pre-orders have been added.

Good sales though.

Posted by: iain 8th October 2017, 08:41 PM

It will be interesting to see how/if he holds up in the next few weeks given the lack of hit singles. Surprisingly, most of the album was in the Spotify top 100 yesterday.

Posted by: timjimlee 8th October 2017, 08:55 PM

A decent start for The Darkness then but those Sales are low and will be lucky to stay in Top 3. A Top 10 position looks assured though which is an improvement on their previous Album from 2 years ago (#12). Seems every other release makes the Top 10 for them (1->11->4->12).

I expect the darkness to drop quite a bit through the week. that 4k on first day will be very front loaded it might even end up nearly out of the top10.

Did Mi Gente sell enough last week to get out of ACR?

I think it will be close but in their favour is not much competition from other new releases (apart from Liam & Giggs) and the Sales for #10 position this week will be a lot less than last week (approx 7k).
Given Tom Petty & The Heartbreaker's 'Greatest Hits' is still in Top 10 Best Sellers on Amazon and iTunes it has a decent chance to climb from last week's #14 position and beat the original peak position from 1993 of #10.

Bit early for the Elvis release but could sell well in the run up to Christmas.

This week's release is just the regular Edition of the Album, the Deluxe Edition is out on the 24th November and this will be when the Promo kicks in.
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra idea has done surprisingly well and has been expanded to a Roy Orbison Album this year, judging by the Pre-Release chart looks like being almost as successful.
Hope we don't get too many of these clogging up the top end of the Chart though.

Surprising to see Liam's solo album doing so much better than Beady Eye ever did! Gwan Giggs coming for possibly another top 2 album and finally a first top 40 hit as lead artist *.* not heard 'Linguo' but I'm told it sounds very similar to 'Lock Doh' and it is criminal that never went top 40 so this can make up for it. x

Totally had no idea Marilyn Manson had a new album. That seems like a bit of a poor showing for JP Cooper, but then 'September Song' was quite a long time ago and any hype since has evaporated.

Wall Of Glass got to #2 on iTunes back in June.

Very tough for any Christmas album to sell in early October.

I'd expect it to start climbing once Halloween is out of the way but seems a mistake to release it so early in case it peters out.

A lot of xmas albums begin to be released in October to build momentum. Buble released his around the final week of October and debuted at no1 before falling but recovering in December and never leaving he top 5, although he was and is huge. These RPO albums are into their third year so this may be having an effect now with this series.

So there is a chance it may disappear before late November but Kylie and Rod Stewart have done well with xmas editions since Buble so we shall have to wait and see.

There may be a xmas special lined up for December!

Post Malone has been increasing no chance for Camilla this week, she might get there next week, it really depends what's out on New Music Friday, I know Eminem and P!nk are releasing to me that sounds like a contender.

Posted by: Hadji 11th October 2017, 05:24 PM

I hope that both Liam Gallagher and Giggs remain in the top 40, that Charlie Puth sneaks into the top 40 and that “Congratulations” doesn’t re-enter the top 30

Posted by: Steve201 11th October 2017, 05:27 PM

Liam Gallagher should have sold enough for a top 40 single which is good to see!

It was at #41 on Monday’s update so it has more likely snook back in

Fascinating how well the live Aha album
us doing, holding up better thanthe Darkness
who only sold 500 copies in 2 days

Posted by: timjimlee 11th October 2017, 05:52 PM

Looking more like Ed will nick the #2 spot from Giggs, if he does it will be the first time the weekly move for the Album is more than 1 place (since the first week).
Some of the Album new entries are holding up better than expected, The Darkness look sure to make Top 10, still wonder whether Tom Petty's Greatest Hits Album can push Jason Manford's Album out of Top 10 - hope so, these Albums from comedians/actors are preventing progress from genuine Musicians.

None of those albums were released this early though, Buble was another 2 weeks, Rod Stewart's 3 weeks and Kylie was mid-November. This just feel at least 2 weeks too early, were not even that close to Halloween yet.

There is a danger that this album could debut very low and just get forgotten about, its too early and its not like Elvis is gonna do a few performances in November/December to build it back-up.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, the Deluxe Edition is out on the 24th November and this will be when the Promo kicks in - this version is all ready in the Top 20 Pre-order chart and will comfortably propel Album to Top 5 at that time just before Christmas. I do wonder whether it will do as well as previous RPO Albums though especially as there would appear to be more competition with Christmas Albums than ever this year (I agree the Roy Orbison Album may just outperform it).

I hate when artists do that release an album just to release a deluxe version a year later but to release a deluxe version less than 2 months later that'd criminal and just plain greedy of the record company basically trying to get you to buy it twice

Total agree and in this case it is the same price (£9.99) for both versions which seems odd.

Posted by: 777666jason 12th October 2017, 09:26 AM

The same price too I'd feel cheated

Posted by: Lenny 12th October 2017, 09:45 AM

The record company knows Elvis fans will buy anything Elvis so they can get away with it. If there was a new album of him burping and farting for 12 tracks they'd buy it.

w00t.gif It is true tho!

I can see why they are releasing again on 24/11. Wonder why they chose to release it so early then. Is the Roy Orbison album a Christmas release?

Maybe they should do an official release of "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elvis%27_Greatest_Shit" in that case. laugh.gif

(yes, that is actually real)

Released on the 3rd November, contains Roy's classics - the advertising blurb states it consists of hits and fan favourites such as “Oh, Pretty Woman,” “Crying” and “Only the Lonely,” with the emotion and world class musicianship of the Royal Philharmonic, London’s most notable orchestra, plus additional instrumentation by Roy’s sons and grandson.

Isnt that just a bootleg release of tons of "In between song banter" at concerts as its annoyingly called?. Its just talking to the audience.
