At ~6pm on the day of release, Stupid Love was #28 on Apple Music. It broke the top 10 at ~5pm on its second day!
At ~6pm on the day of release, Rain On Me was #7! It's having a much, much better start!

The missing data means that is just downloads - considering the most downloaded song of the week often doesn't even break 10k now, being on nearly 4k after one day is really good!

Say all 800k were premium, that would equate to 8,000 sales.

I really really hope they get it. Especially for Gaga who had been out of consideration from ever getting a #1 for years now she could make a come back with 2! We'll start to see how strong it is on radio soon in the US which will be really important as Savage is still climbing fast on radio

Tracking is kinda different in America. The streams and sales are same as UK, Friday to Thursday, but radio tracking starts on Monday (I think) when most songs get properly added It’ll still be way behind Savage and Blinding Lights but the last few days of it not being on playlists and low plays won’t count yet

They extended the gap from the first mid but that’s likely because most of the first day YT has been added now
I think they’ll get #2 unless there’s some sort of push cause streams, views and sales are all falling and they need about >20k to ensure #1 now

Fingers crossed our source comes through with midweeks that show how much both songs sold yesterday. 'Rain On Me' might still be outselling 'Rockstar' enough to compensate for any missing data (it's also not as if missing data is going to be massively skewed in favour of 'Rockstar', either).

I think she’s gonna do it!
By around 3/4K copies.
Next week seems even more promising though I think! But I’m feeling rather positive right now.
If this manages it this will be Gagas first pop album to have a #1 since 2009! Her first pop #1 since 2010!
And on Friday it’s basically confirmed enough it’s at least #10 so this is her first year since 2013 where she’s had two top tens in a calendar year!

These are my exact thoughts and feelings! Joseph shared a lot of info with me that suggests if things continue, it'll be #1 but... my brain can't accept or register this for fear of being disappointed. At the moment I am happy and content with a top 2 finish - #1 will be a(n amazing) bonus!

Calling Jordan Lee! Finally got an answer to your question.
Reading the Shallow thread back, on the week it first got to #1 officially, Shallow never got higher than #5 on Spotify! On the Friday it was announced as #1, it climbed to #4 on Spotify!
In its second week at #1, it got to #2 on Spotify part way through that week.
That gives me more hope for Rain On Me now!

I’m so nervous. The gap shortening so little is a good sign but the fact AM has 2 days missing means DaBaby is gonna get a huge update tomorrow and then the double streams that are added from Thursday to Friday will benefit him
A steady couple of days on Spotify and AM should be enough, I think

In terms of the US charts - they have “re-calibrated” the radio impact for this week. Not 100% sure what it all means but it meant that radio had less impact on the chart, which is good for ROM as radio is the area where it would be way behind it’s biggest competition “Savage”

'Rain On Me' sold about 6,790 yesterday and 'Rockstar' sold about 7,060. If both sell at the same rate then 'Rain On Me' finishes with 56,560 and 'Rockstar' finishes with 48,100. Of course you need to factor in missing data, but 'Rain On Me' will benefit a lot from that too and it'll probably be too much a gap for 'Rockstar' to overtake.
Last Wednesday, 'Rockstar' was on 32,855 (although there was Apple streams for Monday, which there isn't in today's update) and ended up with 57,429. Considering 'Rain On Me' is set to finish on nearly that without even factoring in missing data, I think it should be safe.

It only went to adds officially on Tuesday (yesterday)!. Anything before Tuesday is just radio's excitement to get the song out there. So it's from now we will see its true impact on radio and can track its progress.

Billboard decreased the percentage of airplay on the Hot 100 by 20% from this week on, so the possibility of rain on me becoming number #1 is even bigger!

Well there’s an 8k gap between ROM and Rockstar atm. So say Rockstar were to add 20k to its total tomorrow (which is unlikely), I still don’t think it would close that gap completely due to the fact that Gaga is like going to add about 12-15k to her tally also

The gap has only closed by 800 copies. 'Rain On Me' sold 8.2k yesterday and 'Rockstar' sold 9k.
'Rockstar' is up 2k on where it was last Thursday. It sold 57.4k by Friday so one would assume it'll manage just under 60k in tomorrow's chart.
'Rain On Me' would pretty much beat that after today's sales alone, never mind the missing data it'll have added on top of that.
The #1 is pretty much guaranteed.

Don't remember seeing any pure sales info for 'Stupid Love' in its first week. Music week said it was "far and away the most-purchased track" and 'Blinding Lights' had managed 5,736 that week (I assume it was the second most purchased, I can't check because the OCC site has crashed!).

Not sure if it's been mentioned but 'Rain On Me' actually has the highest first week sales for a Gaga single! It beats the 61,448 that 'Born This Way' opened with, although that was a mid-week release so would obviously be higher if released at the start of the chart week.

Today's Top Hits is big but it's mainly for US audiences.
In the UK the most important playlist is Hot Hits UK which is the one you're talking about. It's still #19 but it updates sporadically/every few days!

Billboard are very predictable and don't like to make statements like this and then turn out to be "wrong" (even though they always word it as songs 'possibly' going to #1), historically I believe they've only ever made articles like this for songs which didn't end up at #1 that week twice: once for Juice WRLD's 'Lucid Dreams' due to a database error massively overestimating his streaming total, and once for Cardi B's 'I Like It' which only ended up missing out due to XXXTENTACION's sudden death.

The song was on sale in four physical/digital combination offerings during the tracking week. Consumers could purchase cassette, CD and vinyl singles, each with a digital download; the download would be sent to consumers upon purchase, with physical versions due to arrive at a later date. Lady Gaga earns her eighth Digital Song Sales No. 1 and Grande adds her seventh.
"Rain" launches at No. 2 on Streaming Songs with 31.4 million U.S. streams in the week ending May 28 and drew 11.1 million audience impressions in the week ending May 31.

I think it'll be #2 again this week but will fall the following week with Jason's new track coming for no.1 and Rockstar about to go into ACR if not next week, the week after. ROM should be steady around the top 5 for a while unless ACR impacts it badly.
As for the US, it looks like it's about to enter top 10 on Pop Radio (Already #10 on Hot Adult Contemporary). So I think the only way is up in the US which is great news.

Made a graph of the Spotify streams in the first ten weeks. As you can see, it has been declining gradually since the release. It started very high though, like "Drake single" high. This week is probably another 4-5% decline but it might be stabilising too.
