Recently discovered this while randomly looking through the OCC 90s chart archive. Made #11 in 1995.
In terms of style of production, I can see how stuff like Breach - Jack this decade was inspired by this. But the lyrics of this one That's probably why it isn't really heard much nowadays 'That has got to be the smallest eeeeeooooooeee I have ever seen in my whole life'. I though you would like it Michael because of that fact about what it is about! You seem to like your innuendos.

has this been posted yet? if not - BANGER Ah, classic (though that mix wasn't the one that charted in 94 I don't think)- this was out at the same time as Return To Innocence which kind of overshadowed it a bit really. This from January 1991 wasn't a massive smash but is largely forgotten and probably (possibly?) kick-started the 90s kids TV theme/rave mash-ups craze that peaked in early 1992. This made #6 in early 1995, has been largely forgotten, radio stations don't play it much any more because it is happy hardcore and also the lyrics.

Yes, it's a list of northern UK cities read out in a Scottish accent over a thumping house beat, and yes it got to #10 in November 1991. *.* |

How about some more...
Poor Des'Ree... took 3 separate releases in the 90s to get that one as high as #10! |

Oh ALSO THIS:
Connected is pretty well remembered thanks to mobile phone network ubiquity but this one always seems to have been overlooked. |

Yes, I always loved “Step it Up” but it got a bit lost in the rush of Christmas 1992. This got to #9 in August 1994 but is I expect largely forgotten, inspired by “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. |

The guy behind Eighteen Strings had a brilliant idea, basically taking the biggest rock anthem of the time (Smells Like Teen Spirit) and the biggest club anthem of the time (2 Bad Mice's 'Bombscare') and mashing them up for instant dancefloor success - the original white label had the actual Nirvana sample in it, but they couldn't clear it for commercial release so used that similar soundalike riff instead.
It would be like someone ten years later mashing up Seven Nation Army with Call On Me! |

A bit of Alisha's Attic up next, very radio friendly stuff but they never quite cracked it did they? I remember quite liking a few of their later singles too. |

I Am I Feel was such a bop!! The sort of song you'd only really get in that period and I always forget it myself but it's always lovely to randomly go back to on shuffle or in a thread like this.

Loveland vs Darlene Lewis - Let The Music Lift You Up - #16 1994
Fab funky house tune that I discovered when looking at the Official Chart Archive. Probably still could have become a hit if it was released 10 or 11 years later when this style of dance had a revival. This post has been edited by ❄The Snow.: Dec 23 2017, 05:43 PM |

Well this wasn't much of a smash first time around but it did become a Top 10 hit four years later. It is a dance CLASSIC from 1992, got to #29 in May 1992 originally but then shot to #6 after a vocal edit in 1996. Here's the better original (Naked Mix) from 1992. *.*
