All eligible UK #1 singles from this era were featured on this volume, meaning less notable omissions. However, overlooked on this occasion were hits from the likes of talent show winner Lee Mead, the UK Eurovision entry from Scooch, Arctic Monkeys, Linkin Park, JoJo, Travis, Bob Sinclar and The Enemy among others. This volume did mark the only occasion in the series for artists like HelloGoodbye, Reverend & The Makers, The Twang, Editors, Manic Street Preachers, Super Mal and UnkleJam. Artwork Rating: 5/10 Poor Very unoriginal design for a summer release. Its not a bad use of colour, but the theme of having the logo against a backdrop of water surrounded by multi-coloured objects was getting very tiring by this stage, and after three years in a row of a similar summer design, it called for a radical change. Disc 1 Favourite: Gwen Stefani feat. Akon The Sweet Escape An uplifting feel-good pop anthem. It was a favourite song to play at the time of its release and is still refreshing to hear today. Certainly this song cemented Akrons vocals within the music industry and he worked with many other artists soon afterwards. Disc 2 Favourite: Reverend & The Makers Heavyweight Champion Of The World From start to finish this song is sublime. I loved it at the time and it was a good song to workout to thanks to its blistering tempo. Shame that this was their only notable hit. Disc 3 Tracklist: (A concept of what a third disc might look like if other hits from the era were used) 1. Arctic Monkeys Brianstorm 2:50 {2} 2. The Enemy Had Enough 2:39 {4} 3. The Pigeon Detectives Im Not Sorry 3:42 {12} 4. Linkin Park What Ive Done 3:25 {6} 5. The White Stripes Icky Thump 4:15 {2} 6. My Chemical Romance Teenagers 2:41 {9} 7. Kings Of Leon Fans 3:36 {13} 8. Kaiser Chiefs Everything Is Average Nowadays 2:41 {19} 9. Mark Ronson feat. Lily Allen Oh My God 3:35 {8} 10. JoJo Anything 3:49 {21} 11. Ciara Like A Boy 3:57 {16} 12. Kelly Rowland feat. Eve Like This 3:36 {4} 13. Mims This Is Why Im Hot 4:13 {18} 14. Armand Van Helden NYC Beat 3:10 {22} 15. Dada feat. Sandy Rivera & Trix Lollipop 2:49 {18} 16. Bob Sinclar & Cutee B feat. Gary Pine & Dollarman Sound Of Freedom 3:16 {14} 17. Sunblock Baby Baby 3:22 {16} 18. Scooch Flying The Flag (For You) 3:04 {5} 19. Sophie Ellis-Bexter Me And My Imagination 3:25 {23} 20. Lee Mead Any Dream Will Do 3:49 {2} 21. Take That Id Wait For Life 4:11 {17} 22. Travis Closer 4:00 {10} 23. Jack Peρate Torn On The Platform 3:53 {7} ---------- Total time: 1:19:58 Overall Rating: 6/10 Good Im not sure the quality of music in 2007 was as high as the previous couple of years, but certainly all the main hits of the era are contained within these two discs. A few songs were a little dated by the time of release (Take That, Akon and Mark Ronson) meaning newer singles got overlooked or pushed back another volume. There is little I would do to change the tracklisting though. Andrew's Best 5 (as of December 2017) 1. Reverend & The Makers Heavyweight Champion Of The World 2. Alex Gaudino feat. Not a stellar volume by any means. Went for Candyman and Back To Black (2 cracking tracks!)

Voted for Mutya Buena- Real Girl for my disc 1 fave, a song I liked at the time and which sounds distinctively 2007 to me.
Mostly not a great disc 1 imo. For Disc 2 went with Groove Armada, Red Rat and Stush - Get Down - such a crazy but brilliant dance tune! Klaxons' version of It's Not Over Yet is fab, remember that more from being on the Debenhams adverts than from the radio/music channels I think, but I still liked it at the time. Back to Black I liked at the time too. Of the omissions I like Sunblock and Sandy's 'Baby Baby' cover version, Dada feat. Sandy Rivera & Trix Lollipop, Muse's Map Of The Problematique and Kim Sozzi's Break Up. This post has been edited by ❄The Snow.: Dec 17 2017, 09:42 PM |

There's some great tracks on this edition - Rev & The Makers, Chemical Brothers, Timbaland, Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson to name a few. It's a shame none of the earlier Editors songs never made a Now CD....particularly stuff from The Back Room era.

This edition holds a special place in my heart! Rewind back to the summer of 2007 and a 10-year-old me is ecstatic to receive her very first iPod Nano for her birthday that year. *.* I also received Now 67 alongside it, so it was the first album I ever synced to an iPod and it was subsequently spammed for months! I had a hard time choosing my Disc 1 favourite as nothing was a glaringly obvious leader of the pack, but I eventually plumped for Kate Nash - 'Foundations'! Quite possibly one of the most quotable chart hits of the noughties. Poor thing being within touching distance of #1 but not quite making it! Disc 2 on the other hand has a CLEAR favourite for me and that is 'Here (In Your Arms)' by Hellogoodbye I think this is the biggest turnaround I have ever had for a song, because I used to dislike it when it came out but now it is within my top 10 songs of all-time it stands out for miles on the compilation and makes me melt every time. Autotune used effectively! (oops at those both being in your worst 5, Wardy but I love 'Heavyweight Champion of the World' and 'Destination Calabria' also, so that makes up for it x)

Disc 1 faves:
1. Fergie - Glamorous 2. Rihanna - Umbrella 3. Akon - I Wanna Love You 4. Justin Timberlake - LoveStoned 5. Enrique Iglesias - Do You Know? Disc 2 faves: 1. Alex Gaudino - Destination Calabria 2. Groove Armada - Get Down 3. Calvin Harris - The Girls 4. Chemical Brothers - Do It Again 5. Editors - Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors Least faves: 1. McFly - Baby's Coming Back 2. Mika - Love Today [can't stand it but at least it isn't the tragic McFly single which deservedly had a shet chart run] 3. Snow Patrol - Signal Fire [so odd that this is their highest peaking single ever, it's so dull] 4. Paul McCartney - Dance Tonight 5. Amerie - Take Control |
