I was literally about to put across my view of this forum as it stands now but I can't quite write it without seeming like a dick haha. I know we're free to post basically anything.
EDIT: Here it is anyway. This forum is a sinking ship and something really has to be done and I really don't think just hiring a new moderator is gonna fix that. Some regular posters don't even bother coming in here now and I get the sense that they feel they're not welcome maybe and I don't see new posters signing up to join really either and if they do they never seem to post. On Plug.DJ someone even said they don't come in here because they aren't part of the in crowd so all they do is read rather than post cause they don't understand what's going on or feel like they can participate. Essentially I just feel that the forum needs some rules maybe or maybe just a tad less cliqueness cause the problems aren't going to get any better unless something changes aside from the names at the top.
In all fairness I do enjoy the non seriousness of this forum but it's not working for everyone.

I see what James is saying. I've seen a couple of members scanning the forum but they never post because their intimidated to do so. But I don't see this as a 'clique' problem since there aren't any inside jokes, I think Lee has tried to make the forum as welcoming as possible.
Regardless, there has been a substantial loss in regular posters which is indeed an area that the community needs to maintain. (Will, sociopath, Daniella etc went from regulars to non-existent quite quickly which is a big shame)

It's always going to be difficult to manage a forum when the girls are doing nothing. We've managed to stay above 100 posts a week and the third most successful AF on Buzzjack.
I do think you're thinking too much into this James as we've managed to create a community and it's nowhere near as difficult to communicate as one might say. I'm proud that I've managed to make this an incredible success and proud that I've managed to interact with so many posters within this part of the forum, creating a community has its benefits and negatives and it's not just in the Sats forum that new members might not stick around it's all around Buzzjack and other forums.
We've got a great mix of posters and I don't want to force posters to post and it's a natural thing for money because there comfortable here. The forum is not a sinking ship. The forum will only grow once we have some solo news.

As for what you said James... I do agree that some rules to ground the community a bit wouldn't hurt. I do feel like we are a bit "too much" sometimes and I reckon that could indeed be intimidating to people that don't know our community that well.
What I'm afraid about is that rules are just going to piss/bore off the members we already have, those that are very loud/like to fool around and stuff.
However, my main issue right now is that there is clearly some huge (and totally unnecessary) negativity around here. We've had months far more worse than this, with less news or Saturdays-related things to go on with, but somehow it only seems to be an issue now that the situation of the group is somehow properly precarious for once. It's a shame as we've been having lots of threads related to the girls and strictly to them lately.
The Girls Aloud forum is still up and kicking with basically only one member being more or less active (and I'm pretty sure her fans would say she's doing absolutely NOTHING these days.)
People are writing off this forum so easily, it's a bit sad to read actually.

Marina actually has something coming out though. You know what I'm like when one of my favs has an upcoming flop.
Though I'd say A Christmas album was possibly recorded but couldn't be funded after the flop of GH. They sold one of the songs onto that film.

Thinking about it, I really hated that time where I was watching the Not Giving Up On Love and Gentlemen clips a billion times just trying to figure out how it would sounds like, I was never so excited for an album. It was even worst with Lease My Love, I watched those a clip a thousands times a day for months. Ugh, those times. Best thing about Chasing The Sats is waiting each week for an episode hoping it would feature a clip of a new track.

As much as I like to put tommie in his place, these are just technicalities. One could argue that Little Mix will eventually become the UK's biggest girlgroup in a few years as their sales are quite consistent or that when The Saturdays officially announce a split or a break, then Little Mix will indeed be the UK's biggest girlgroup (and well...only girlgroup lol).
One sure thing is that these debates are sterile. Now matter how easily their respectives fans always compare them and put them against each other, the comparison is extremely fastidious to make because they are actually quite different. They didn't start at the same time, they didn't start at the same place (some people might think it's unfair to say, but still X-Factor is an extremely huge platform to debute on), they haven't been active the same amount of time either, etc.
They can describe Little Mix as the UK's biggest girlgroup if they want to, to be honest, I don't think I really care
(Also I don't even know if I can actually change that description or if it's up to Lee

They need to just woman-up and announce they're done because there is still probably a fraction of poor fans that'll genuinely be waiting for this triumphant return in a few years.
If they did come back in two years it would be ridiculous. Girls Aloud were/are 100x more popular than them, they were being described as national treasures around the time of their 'break', and even then their return was met with a luke-warm response.

Not Giving Up actually was top 100 briefly on the Spotify chart on it's release week, too. So it wouldn't have fallen THAT much. WAYWF didn't enter the top 200 on Spotify,
Not Giving Up sold 18,424 in its first week, Only Human sold approx 4k.

It's funny, I was just thinking about how odd it was that there hasn't been any solo material from them yet. It's been a good 6-7 months since they started their "hiatus" and I find it odd that we haven't even heard any demos or anything. I know Mollie, Vanessa, and Rochelle have been in the studio. That would at least help tide us over until they decide to do something as a group (if/when that happens). Not sure if you've been visiting Buzzjack for a while or not, but this forum is normally much more active. Obviously with less to discuss at the moment, things have been a bit slower here. So we are really happy to have you join us!

Basically - what happened, I think is. They got a bit ahead of themselves starting work on a new album (probably a Christmas album) before Greatest Hits was out, I think they assumed GH it would sell itself and boost their name, which is while minimal effort was put into it.
Sadly the album largely under-performed and the tour ended up selling 2-4-1 tickets for the tour, which meant the record label were profit-less so they halted production plans for a new album (maybe dropped them altogether). To get a bit of extra cash they sold off one of the tracks on the album to the 'Get Santa' soundtrack.

You can record music without a label, it's just more difficult. But they are all under Peter's management so I reckon it's still easy for them to look for producers.

I don't think even the girls have a clue if and when they will release new music as a band again. At least that's how it comes across. For any kind of success as a band again, I think it would take a new TV show or radios to get back onboard if they want to be successful. I don't see either happening for a band that are 7 years old. Vanessa and Mollie are attempting solo music as far as I'm aware - the other three aren't (yet).

Just watched the 'What Are You Waiting For?' video for the first time in ages.
It's actually a pretty good song from them, and the video has made feel excited for the Summer - which it ever did last year, because Summer was nearing an end by the end it was released. They should have had a more summery video for 'Not Giving Up'. All the biggest summer songs come out in Spring, like 'Summer' by Calvin. They missed a trick there.

This makes me think/feel so many things.
1. I wish I could see something Saturdays related for the first time again.
2. I forget just how strong their singles are sometimes, and I really need to dust off my Finest Selection CD
3. The Saturdays could have been huge in America, each one of those people had a different member they liked best (sorry Rochelle none for you), and whilst I think the level of success they achieved played a part in how long they stayed together (no burn out). I would love to have seen them make it in another country.

In all honesty, if you had asked me about it after watching 'Higher' I would have probably been shocked as well and the girls were, in fact, not mothers yet at that time. However, with a video like Gentleman, even ignoring Rochelle's bump, it wouldn't have shocked me (and they were indeed mothers at that time!)

Sources say they are still signed to Polydor as a group, but that three of the girls have decided to go solo while they wait for Frankie to give birth to her second child and let Rochelle handle her TV presenting jobs which have been working well at the moment. Sources, however, insist they are still a group.
I guess it's up to what you believe now.
It does sound a bit like Girls Aloud all over again, so there's that. (Although, they did in fact not split as they did come back......okay, so they could split for good, granted, but yeah....)

I love What Are You Waiting For so much, and I think it fits so well as their 'final' single. It encapsulates all the Saturdays essence in one of their most modern productions. It's the perfect crossover of Higher and All Fired Up.

Gosh, I remember when they performed 'Notorious' for the first time on SYTCD... The reception was really good. It what at that time they really got their shit together for real.
Mollie's intro (live) is to die for. I like the autotuned effects on the studio, but live she just adds so much more oomph and personality to the intro. Kinda wish we had a proper studion version of these pre-recorded vocals or something.

I feel Like Notorious has aged better than a lot of their other hits. It sounds fresh compared to Up, All Fired Up and Ego. All of which are some of their strongest, too.

I agree! I guess we can attribute that to the fact it stood out as more electro/dance pop during a time where dubstep was influencing the airwaves.
It faired well for an OA/OS release and proved they had quite a decent fanbase size.

It was a bit ahead of its time. There was a huge backlash for it not having a proper chorus, which now seems like something normal after the success of Dark Horse.
I think only their pre-Headlines material sounds dated nowadays, though.

Gosh, I remember when it got released. I literally lost my shit for months. It was the song I would always play. I was obsessed with the intro and the "Closer, baby" hook and would always sing them everywhere I went. My friends were literally so f***ing done with me
It was just such a great time to be a fan of them. They just had a really successful tour and album (Headlines!) and their last single was phenomenal (Higher) and then they followed this up with 'Notorious' and their performance on SYTYCD... UGH! Amazing, really.

I think Rochelle is the only one that would actually do the exact same sort of music The Saturdays did (despite her fans all saying they want her to go RnB or urban) especially since of out all the girls she's been shown appreciating their music the most. So I would definitely not mind an album from her because it would probably mean a Saturdays album only, well, led entirely by her, yes, ha. Although, I guess it would be under a budget, so it would probably be more in the veins of 'Living For The Weekend' than 'On Your Radar' I reckon, but still it would be nice.

I hope she gets an X Factor judging position (or even Xtra Factor) presenting role, she has the right balance of professionalism and realism for me alongside Emma Willis which I adore. Plus I'd love to see her consoling contestants who've just been voted off, it'd be TV Gold!

In a recent interview Una stated she's excited to get back together with the Sats because she thinks it'll feel more fresh now that they've taken some time away from the group. She sort of hinted that they reached their burnout point without actually saying it. It made me realize how impressive it is that they went seven years without a proper break and makes me excited for them to potentially have some renewed energy and drive if/when they do come back. I would love it if they brought us Headlines/On Your Radar levels of commitment for the next campaign.

I thought Una and Rochelle became closer after they both were starting families and they used to tweet about being with each other a lot and their families were close (meeting up on holidays and stuff as well as both being close to Niall

Yeah I remember when people used to be like "Huna hates Frenky1!1!11!1!!1111!". I don't think it's anything obvious, though. I do believe Una and Frankie doesn't have as much chemistry between them as with some other girls of the group, but in general, I still think they like eachother quite a lot. I remember them bopping their asses together during '808' I think during the Greatest Hits tour, they looked like they were having fun.
The best chemistry in the group was always between Frankie and Mollie, though.

I don't understand the fuss, though. The fans are all asking for a statement about if they broke up or not, but the thing is, the girls keep saying they are not every month or so. I mean, just last week, Una said they weren't splitting up. What more do you need? Of course, they could be lying, but you have your statement, now shut up. God!
The comments on some of Mollie's Instagram picture are hilarious as well. "plz moly dun releaze ur muzik solo, releaze it w/ da group plz!!1!!1"
I love the group, but they were clearly struggling to stay above water this time around. I mean the radios didn't even attempt to look at what the group had to give, the label cut the budget from literally everything (including a radio plugger! For Christ's sake!). The girls going solo (whether that is music wise or not) at least provide some sort of buzz/excitement, you know? Like, at least it's something new to experience, but it's also "just something to look forward to" - which felt so unsure concerning the group after their latest flop. I mean, that could have been it, that's it. I'm glad we might get some music from at least one of them and everyone should be, really.

Vanessa's tone sounds so weird. Really unusual from her, even beyond the whole Tranessa story...
Rochelle has never managed to sing that chorus properly, it's weird and a bit disappointing. She has belted much much harder bits than these.
They need to stop f***ing that much with microphones sound level too. Oh well the chances of another performance from them are so slim anyway, so nevermind

Not sure which is worse, that or the Today Show performance. Hands down some of their best choreography (up there with Notorious on SYTYCD) but those vocals...
I forgot how bad Vanessa struggled during this campaign and I'm glad her vocals are back to normal now. Rochelle is too shouty and Una never does her "What About Us" bits any justice. They sound flat. Frankie and Mollie's voices are basically nonexistent.
I think the Today Show was where Frankie and Mollie sounded like robots so that was probably worse.

You can hear Frankie better when she's in her higher register (the first pre-pre-chorus).
Mollie pops up in the second "Oh why are we waitin'" and you can hear the difference in her verse when she stops singing as well.
They are both audible at the "and i'm not gonna stop" during the 2nd verse/pre-pre-chorus... sounds a bit poor.
Just such a big giant mess.
