100 ** 100 01 James Arthur — Say You Won’t Let Go

This doesn't need to happen guys. I promise you Ed Sheeran will be back soon enough.

(3 weeks at #85 for Zara is satisfying - looks like it'll climb up the US charts about as fast as 'Lush Life' did)

Fifth Harmony's progress (or lack thereof) with That's My Girl is painful.

Actually here for 'Say You Won't Let Go' being a hit in the USA. Wasn't even aware it was being pushed there!

Anyone have an update on how rapidly Drake is closing in on the record for most Hot 100 hits?

Not sure how up to date it is but Wikipedia puts him in fourth, behind Lil Wayne (who he'll overtake very shortly), Elvis Presley and Glee Cast

207 – Glee Cast
149 – Elvis Presley (Pre–Hot 100 and Hot 100 included)
132 – Lil Wayne
129 – Drake
91 – James Brown
85 – Jay Z
81 – Chris Brown
79 – Kanye West
75 – Ray Charles
73 – Aretha Franklin

Huh, somehow I got it into my head that Nicki had the most Hot 100 hits so this list is strange and confusing to me. How many has she had? Glee is the strangest stain on musical history.

My GOD the charts are so stale there. At least in the UK we get high new entries and some drama.

Is Little Mix's high debut just due to fans buying the song in biggish numbers in its first week or does it actually have some momentum there? I'd really like to see a UK girlband score a big hit over there as that can't have happened since the Spice Girls twenty years ago.

"Shout Out To My Ex" was #1 for a while but then started floating down, so yeah it was pretty frontloaded

That's a shame, so there's no real push for it then? They'll sink without airplay. Oh well.

I imagine there will be a push for it; there's been a push for every Little Mix lead single of some sort. They're not established in the US beyond a core fanbase though so I'd have expected a high-ish dιbut, then the song should disappear for a while and slowly claw its way back up.

In order to make a real breakthrough in the US, you have to go promo heavy. The Saturdays tried it half arsed and their single did precisely nothing. What with a tour and promo in zone's they're already established in, I don't know if Little Mix would have the time.

It's not simple enough for "Little Mix are busy, so it'll flop" to be a fair assessment of the situation, really. They have a lot more than The Saturdays had going for them (the time they've spent promoting in the past really stands to them, and IMO the song is stronger too) and even when they're largely busy, they usually find the time to make at least one big promotional appearance in the USA. I'd be quite surprised if the girls didn't pop over at least briefly, but I don't know if that's totally essential either. If the song clicks right then radio will carry it I think.
