Lady Gaga joining Britney Spears on a track is unlikely. Rumors swirled earlier this year the two pop stars would collaborate on a song together, but Lady Gaga told BreatheHeavy.com it's a no-go as of now, saying: QUOTE “We’ve discussed it. I think Britney is a lovely girl, but there’s nothing in the works at the moment.” Mother Monster was recently asked again about the potential Grammy award winning song they've yet to create, but this time she was a little more... direct, saying:QUOTE [If it's] the right song, but my direction is not the same. I think I'd rather duet with Elton John first. |

Looks like Gaga will only work with 80 year old former 'legends' nowadays. Trying too hard to be IRrelevant. Who's next, Mick Jagger?
Britney's better off. |

I think she's still pressed that Artpop's sales/hype never lived up to her expectations. She was expecting huge things for it with all that "it's my best work to date and a form of art" bullshit and she thought the media was going to be all over it and it failed. It doesn't surprise me, though. She's immensely talented but relied too much on gimmicks to stay relevant, instead of focusing on delivering a great pop album, and the media and the public fell for that for the first two albums (both of which also resulted in great music) but were done already by the third (which didn't particularly deliver anything new or game-changing). Now it seems safe to play the "I'm leaving the pop world and I'm doing this classy music now cause I'm an artist" card. But she shouldn't forget she tweeted this after Britney suggested she'd like to collaborate with her: |

There's really no need to get shady you know, Britney is one of Gaga's biggest influences. Remember when she presented Brit with that icon award? It's just a matter of whether the glove fits, their voices together aren't exactly the most complimentary and it's not as if we will be getting an album from either of them anytime soon - so Gaga's response makes perfect sense tbh

I think she just said what she wanted to say in a really unfortunate way. Not thinking it's the right time to duet is fair enough, particularly as she is promoting a jazz album right now, but "No I don't want to collab with Britney... more interested in Elton John tbh" is always going to come across badly.

I agree and with this CTC era going on till mid 2015, it obviously makes more sense to collab with someone like Elton on jazz and traditional pop than Britney when both Britney and Gaga's forthcoming pop records are far from complete |
