History of the Fejderand République d'Áskorza
The earliest recorded settlement of the western coast of Quilvoria was in 13,010BC. The early settlement thought to be from Eastern Europe thrived in the area known today as Ashworth, they ruled an area half the size of the current state for 10,000 years. The early nation [also known then as Áskorza] split into mutliple factions upon the murder of the then emperor in 256 BC. The murdered emperor's family and supporters fled west over the Sea of Ashton to settle in modern-day Sanvoria, founding Morpeth Cove as their new main settlement, the Áskorza faction thrived on Orchadia and returned to strength with Morpeth Cove remaining continuously populated until this date. The remaining original territory of Áskorza, now known as the Confederation of Ástén, descended into chaos as the factions fought over land in the east of modern-day Ashton by 28AD the 92 factions [Confederated states] were in financial ruin and chaos, Áskorza made their move back across the water to a mysterious uninhabited island close to Ástén and set up a secondary settlement. As Áskorza rebuilt, increasing not only in population but wealth, thanks to the emperor's families links with Europe and Asia, they built an unrivaled army and Emperor Tivor set out a goal to unite Áskorza once more under the Áskorza name. Project Ashton was born. Confederation of Ástén splintered into three independent states in 986AD - Ástén, Dantreki and Janiti. Áskorza's power and influence on the emerging international stage grew and in 1285 the Great North War broke out that saw Dantreki defeated and the land become part of Áskorza and Ástén, returning Áskorza to the Quilvorian mainland for the first time since 255 BC. The two great powers lived side by side in peace until Ástén laid claim over some former Dantreki land in 1602. The ensuing Hivejan War is Buzzjack's deadliest. 8 million people perished in the 63year conflict, in 1663 the Áskorzjan forces reached the Ástén capital Santryan and two years later Operation DanKorza saw the execution of the Ásténise president and Ástén fell. 1892 saw Botanikka and Áskorza go to war over the Fontrajn island teritory for the first time, which was officially named Saynher Janslic in 1509. The internal border on the island moved over the years and in 2003 an Áskorzjan faction won independence for half the island after 30years of Botanikkan whole island rule. Saynher Janslic entered BJSC under their english title Fotherington Islands in 2007, shortly after which the island was officially re-entered into Áskorza as a federal state. A referendum of Islanders over mainland reunification returned a 98.12% Yes vote. Áskorza still claims the entirety of the island and shortly after Saynher Janslic's independence, Áskorzjan troops invaded the remaining Botanikkian administered territory to reclaim Áskorza's rightful territory - the reclamation is pending international recognition and A.O.B.I.T has special legal status until it can be reabsorbed fully into Saynher Janslic. In 2008 Janiti became part of Áskorza after a slow and painstaking but mostly bloodless process. Áskorzjan forces cut vital supply routes and the rebel faction was cut off by the international world after Áskorza leaked documents showing it's terrorism and rebel links in 2001, Federal troops slowly moved into the country in 2003 and by 2006 had control of 85% of the nation. The remainder fell just 18months later. The new federal state of Sřrenthíjĺ [Janiti] is undergoing a rebuilding process after years of neglect and to bring infrastructure up to Áskorzjan standards, this was completed in 2019. Modern Day Áskorza is more commonly known by it's english name, Ashton. Áskorza ranks highly in the standard of living scales, it's the top in the world for Education, Healthcare and Overall Standard Of Living. Áskorza is the largest country by population and economically in Buzzjack. The highly developed nation primarily lives in urban areas with Áskorza having the highest population density in Buzzjack. Local Public Transport is free to citizens, with only intercity and interregional trains requiring payment. Tourists and non-citizens are required to pay, but the average day ticket costs just 1 Ashlar. All major sign posts, legal notices and security notices are displayed in Áskorzajn, English and the local minority language throughout the country (Swedish in Ashworth, Norwegian in Sřrenthíjĺ, German in Rd'ÁC and Sanvoria). The Áskorza family is still in power and the country has undergone major reforms under Emperor Silas including a move to limited democracy and opening up of various industries to competition. Federal Law still dictates that all major companies are at least 49% State owned, Broadcasters are 65% State owned [SNÁ and AMC are 100% State owned] and transport companies are 75% state owned [Qantash, AshRail and most local transit companies are 100% state owned, most are 95-99% state owned].
In 2009 Ashton completed the Land Reclamation Project between the countries two halves over the Sea of Ashton incorporating thousands of islands into mainland Áskorza. In 2020, Ashton formally changed the name which it enters BJSC to République d'Áskorza having used the hybrid Áskorzajn/English name République d'Ashton for a number of years.

Updated the history and moved it into a separate post
Ashton will be entering a Kiwi to the 51st contest.

Well, it's already better than some of your entries.
best ever.
Ashton is Chasing Satellites in Numayania!
The Federal Republic of Ashton has been confirmed as entering Thomas Fiss, a New Zealand national, with the song Chasing Satellites to the 51st Buzzjack Song Contest in neighbouring Numayania. The entry is the first entered under the countries new moniker 'Ashton, The Federal Republic of' and under it's new entry strategy RFTW2.0. The second generation of Risks FTW has been tasked with reducing the nations instances of artist recycling and further promoting emerging and unsigned talent. Thomas becomes the second Kiwi to represent the nation after months of searching revealed two promising entries from the ANZ region. The second is still a state secret ahead of the 52nd contest.
Thomas Fiss - Chasing Satellites
Emperor Silas Áskorza had this to say: " I am delighted today to announce that Thomas Fiss will be representing us in our 51st outing. I believe his wonderfully catchy pop track is the perfect catalyst to usher in a new era in Ashtonise BJSC participation alongside the upgrading of our successful Risks FTW strategy. Our recent results have slipped from our post format change run of success but we remain hopeful that this is not a repeat of the dark early days of the Risks FTW strategy. We are most looking forward to celebrating our 50th contest under the name 'Ashton' in two months time."

RFTW 2.0 falls at the first fence as Chasing Satellites stalls in the Semi's
Thomas Fiss has failed to make the final of the Fifty First Buzzjack Song Contest in neighbouring Numayania kicking off Ashton's new flagship entry policy in the worst possible way. The ASC and SNÁ are reported to be unamused but determined to continue with it's renewed strategy. One ASC staffer was quoted as saying "If Ashton was purely driven by results and the need to succeed then the country would have long ago changed to sending more indie tinged entries to appeal to the new make up of the contest. Ashton however is a country that refuses to pander and will continue to send songs that best represent the nation's tastes by sending up and coming artists and newcomers that have made a big impression on the Ashtonise charts."
SNÁ|1 has confirmed that the final of LI has been pushed to the 3am slot in favour of the season 2 premiere of hit US drama, Suits. The show will be shown live on Numayanian TV within Ashton on Cable and Satellite TV for those who have the basic package of either. Digital TV viewers in the Ashmayanian border region will be able to watch live by retuning their TV's to pick up the Numayanian digital TV signal.

Ashton to preview contenders for LII
The ASC and SNÁ have officially announced that they will be previewing their fifty second entry to the Buzzjack Song Contest in their national thread tomorrow! The notoriously secretive Federal Republic will be providing a complete and transparent view of their selection policy. It is thought that the nation will preview three songs in contention for the Ashtonise spot for international reviews.

It's Tone Damli for Ashton!!!
Queen Tone Damli Aaberge of Tinnmark and Ashton is returning to BJSC for the 5th time with her latest Smash hit 'Smash'!!! Following in the footsteps of 'I Know', 'Butterflies' (4th for Ashton), 'I Love You' and 'Look Back' (2nd for Ashton in XLI) the Ashtonise chart #1 is aiming to help reboot the nations fortunes in BJSC.
An ASC/SNÁ insider has told us that Smash is the first in a long line of truly fantastic entries that not only represent the best of Ashton but honours the nations past and looks to the future. We here at the Ashton Times aren't entirely sure what that means but we are praying for the amazing quality of entries post-Riverside with the results of the last Scandi-era...
Fresh from competing in Melodifestivalen with the sublime 'Hello Goodbye', Tone is reported to be thrilled to have more work to dive into following her split from the troll. 'Hello Goodbye' by Erik Segerstedt and Tone Damli Aaberge will be released onto AshTunes this Sunday with the CD single following on Monday. It is expected to knock Smash off it's #1 spot.

Third for Ashton!!!!
The SNÁ and ASC are over-joyed to confirm that Ashton has finished 3rd in the 52nd Buzzjack Song Contest with Queen Tone Damli Aaberge's wonderful Smash! This gives Tone Damli a 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finish for the nation! It also allows Ashton to finally be crowned as the third nation to have finished at every spot in the top 5. It's a month of thirds for Ashton! The 3rd place is Ashton's highest finish since Tone and Elen scored back to back 2nd place's for the nation last year.

Ashton's Official BJSC LIII Candidates
Following Ashton's 'Smash' 3rd place hit with Queen Tone Damli and her latest #1 Ashtonise hit 'Smash' the ASC and national broadcaster SNÁ, Santi Natio Áskorza (Ashton National Television), have elected to present options for international reaction. Current Ashtonise #1, Mutya Keisha Siobhan - Lay Down In Swimming Pools, was ruled out by the ASC on veto grounds after a public campaign for the act to represent the nation for Ashton's 50th contest as a reformed nation.
The reunification of the Fotherington Islands and the then nation of Ashton took place during the second contest and took full effect for the third BJSC in which former Queen Mutya Buena represented the nation.
The official candidates are:
Dragonette - Run, Run, Run
Under contract to reappear for Ashton after taking Ashton to 9th in BJSC IV, with the beautiful 'True Believer', the ASC has been waiting for a track that has the same understated beauty as True Believer to once again represent the nation. Run, Run, Run is this weeks #3 on the AshChart.
Emma Louise - Boy
A dark melodic track from Australian Emma Louise isn't a million miles away from the nations Singer-Songwriter roots, first demonstrated in BJSC II with Laura Critchley. The laid back track has so far peaked at #5 on the AshChart.
Luciana - U B The Bass
A storming dance track from the Queen of Clubs and former Ashtonise entrant Luciana is our third option! Widely credited throughout Ashton and Buzzjack as the turning point for Ashton in BJSC, I Like That was a long running #1 single that ended up #3 on the countries year end chart. U B The Bass is her latest club smash storming to #1 on the ACC (AshClubChart) and is in it's fourth week top 10 at #5.

Anything but Dragonette please.
Not Dragonette again PLEASE. It's been only a year. First of all, it's way too soon to revive that NIGHTMARE, second of all so cheap omg
L's in BJSC: Ashton going CHEAP AS SHIT <3
Ignore Dragonette, I have to make up numbers somehow.
I'm sticking to the letter of my rules by dressing up the track(s) I'm considering with another track(s) that is/are great but are not in the running.
Oh Luciana all the way. Amazing song if you do send it!
I think Luciana is the best out of those, but I'm not entirely convinced by any of them.
Definitely not Dragonette. Boy is good but not amazing, the Luciana track is
Thanks guys! Luciana has been leading a dance revival for me since I Like That.
ZZ Ward for Ashton!
American ZZ Ward, born Zsuszsanna Eva Ward, hails from the state of Pennsylvania and has been selected as the Ashtonise entry for BJSC LIII! The infectious 'Put Your Gun Down' has entered at #5 on this weeks AshChart, the chart itself is making it's public debut this week. The 26 year old is signed to the same label as Selena Gomez, Bridget Mendler and Demi Lovato yet sounds far removed from the bubblegum pop that is Hollywood Records usual sound.
The soulful track has been drawn in Semi-Final 1.

Very nice entry, I've never heard of her or this song before! She's like a cross between KT Tunstall, Adele (on her livelier tracks) and Caro Emerald. For what it's worth I like it far more than Fantasy!
She really does! I'm preferring it to Fantasy now too.
My best friend actually introduced it to me! Her sister told her about it and then she posted it on my Facebook. Apparently her whole album is rather wonderful but I haven't had a chance to acquire it yet.
'Ashton' is trending on twitter worldwide right now.
We knew this day would come *tears of joy*

Ashton Reveals Map of Nation
For the first time in the nations BJSC history the Federal Republic of Ashton has published a map of the nation! Sitting between the North and South Quilvorian Oceans the nation of Ashton is neighboured by Ojnoj, Numayania, Juranabaijan (via the Straight of Juran), Botanikka, Hendinia and the People's Republic of Jester (via Vulcania Sea). Ashton's deeply disputed border between the state of Saynher Janslic and Botanikka is a dispute which has raged for hundreds of years with the Ashtonise state finally gaining independence in October 2007 and Reunited with the Federal Republic in December 2007 after 5 years of forced Botanikkan occupation and rule. Ashton has forcibly occupied Botanikkan Island Territory for over a year following attacks on the border by Botanikkan rebel forces.
The states and their respective capitals have been named in the official map which was released to the international public this afternoon. Our source at Governa Republique d'Áskorza has told us that more detailed maps could be released over the coming year.

ZZ Ward becomes Ashton's 42nd qualifier!
The sublime 'Put The Gun Down' by ZZ Ward has qualified to the final of BJSC LIII from the hotly contested SF1. While it was great news for Ashton, our neighbours and allies Numayania didn't have such good luck. It wasn't all good news for the United Kingdoms of Tinnmark and Ashton as Tinnmark failed to make the cut despite scoring 12 from the Federal Republic. Also missing out was 10pts recipient Séyetania and 7pts recipient Umiiruka.

Envole Moi looks set for top10 smash in LIV
French pair M Pokora and Tal are looking set to smash their way into the top 10 of BJSC LIV in 'La Nati d'Coláíra' (The Nation of Colour) tomorrow night with the sensational 'Envole Moi'. The brilliant French pop track has already burst out of the tough semi-final 2 to make it through to the final making it Ashton's first French entry to do so with Inna Modja sadly failing to reach the final.
Envole Moi has been hailed as a front-runner in nearly all BJSC bookmakers after the semi-finals and the SNÁ/ASC are hopeful that it can score Ashton's third hit on the bounce after ZZ Ward finished a wonderful 12th last month in Batidas.
Source: SNÁ|News
I have to say for a French pop song this is REALLY GOOD. By which I mean I rated it 7.5/10 and it was still some distance off getting points.
For some reason I currently have Emma's 'Cercavo Amore' stuck in my head. A really good song which I feel I may have not given enough credit at the time. How did that DNQ? [/random]
wouldn't object to this doing well.
Emma was robbed!!! 'Cercavo Amore' is a wonderful pop track and deserved so much better
The original will always be fabulous but this is rather great. I remember hearing it when it was released and realizing that it's literally one of the only songs I can listen to from both M. Pakora and Tal. He has the most punchable face on the planet (he's now Robin Hood in France lololol), and everything of Tal's after 'On avance' was pretty crap. Still, I hope to see you in the top 10! It's been a while since we've had a good French pop song do well!
Ashton is top10 after the first day of results
BJSC LIV's ONLY foreign language finalist finished the first day of results in 9th place after spending a short period of time just before halfway in the lead. A lengthy string of null points has seen the Frenchpop epic Envole Moi, sung by M Pokora and Tal, fall to 10th before rebounding thanks to a 7 from our allies Tinnmark just before the break. It is still mathematically feasible for Ashton to steal the victory tomorrow night and the whole of the nation is crossing their fingers that lightning strikes twice.
Source: SNÁ|News
Envole Moi finished top10!
The only foreign language song of the BJSC LIV final finished equal 7th (Tie not yet broken)! The Federal Republic of Ashton continued an impressive run of form by continuing their 2013 hit streak with the top10 finish for the French Pop epic. The ASC and SNÁ are said to be pleased it did well but somewhat disappointed it couldn't quite hit the top5 or take home the win it deserved. They have also been quoted as saying top10 is a fantastic result for the only non-english song in the final.
We aren't sure if the ASC and SNÁ are trying to play the race card there but that's how our source sounds to us.

Ashton and Luciana pair up once again
British Singer Luciana 'Queen of Clubs' Caporaso, the ASC and SNÁ today confirmed that Luciana would return to BJSC for Ashton's 55th entry. Following on from the magnificent 'I Like That', an entry widely believed to have been a turning point for Ashton in BJSC, this would be the second time Ashton has entered the exceptional Brit.
Rumoured possible entries are:
Richard Vission & Luciana - When It Feels This Good
Luciana - I'm Still Hot
and the bookies favourite...
Luciana - U B The Bass
Whatever the ASC and SNÁ select it's sure to continue the nations run of brilliant BJSC entries.
In case you hadn't heard it (have you been under a rock dear Ashtonise & Rontvian readers) or can't quite remember it's sheer level of awesome here is the wonderful 'I Like That'
'I'm Still Hot' sounds better with Betty White.
Luciana and Ashton aim high for BJSC LV
Dance phenomenon Luciana Caporaso has returned to BJSC for a second time with the Federal Republic! The Brit, known worldwide as the 'Queen of Clubs', will be performing her latest smash 'U B The Bass' in the 55th Buzzjack Song Contest held in Skall.
Luciana - U B The Bass
The track has peaked, and remains, in the top 5 in the Federal Republic with sales in excess of 150m. The ASC and SNÁ are hopeful that despite the wave of dance entries this month Luciana will stand out from the crowd and continue Ashton's 2013 hit streak.

The Queen of Clubs set to dominate the BJSC LV final
This evening in Central Quilvorian nation Skall 'Queen of Clubs' Luciana Caporaso qualified for the 55th Buzzjack Song Contest Final. In a semi final, and contest, filled with Dance Music Ashton's entry 'U B The Bass' stood out sufficiently to be the first announced qualifier of the evening.
It wasn't all good news for the Federal Republic and it's allies. While newest ally Espen qualified to the final, neighbours Numayania and the Former Scandinavian Republic of Rontvia, Ashton's 12 pointer, both failed to make the final.
A mark of respect for the breaking of FSR Rontvia's unprecidented run of qualifications will be held at 1pm tomorrow with the nationwide playing of Smack Me as an act of national solidarity.
All FSR Rontvian flags on Federal Buildings have been lowered to half mast and the Swedish/Rontivan descendent-majority state Ashworth has declared a statewide day of mourning.

Congratulations on Luciana getting through! Makes up for I Like That finishing 30 odd places too low! And we appreciate your support at this trying time.
Federal Republic to rebound after Vali DNQ's
Preperations are underway within the Federal Republic to secure a killer track for the nation's 57th contest.
While the nations airwaves are dominated by Mutya/Keisha/Siobhan's epic comeback 'Flatline', Tone Damli's latest hit 'Winner of a Losing Game' and BJFEST 4th place finisher Linda Sundblad 'Hur Kan Jag Sakna Nĺt Jag Aldrig Haft' the ASC and SNÁ are plotting the nations next big hitter with opinions sought from international juries . It is understood that the nations potentials range from a future British star, to Denmark via Canada and various nations inbetween.
The ASC are said to be targeting a top10 year end finish for the nation.

MKS Approved Little Nikki for Ashton!
Little Nikki, the support act of Mutya Keisha Siobhan's debut Ashtonise and UK gigs, has been officially selected as the Federal Republic's representative for BJSC LVII with her brilliant track 'Little Nikki Says'
Little Nikki impressed at the sold out Ashtonise show where she performed to a sell out crowd of 100,000 and over 0.7bn live on Ashtonise TV. Intro Intro, DILLIGAF and Where I'm Coming From by Little Nikki have all invaded the Ashtonise top15 with the Ashtonise entry 'Little Nikki Says' due to be released next week in Ashton.

Little Nikki Says 3rd for Ashton!!!
The wonderful Little Nikki and her brilliant track 'Little Nikki Says' lands Ashton in the top 3! After leading for a chunk of the contest it was almost as if LII was repeating itself as a manipulated running order saw Ashton slip away. This marks the second top 3 finish for the nation this year and the second to immediately follow a DNQ.

Sara Bareilles returns to BJSC for Ashton!
Former BJSC IV winner, first win for our dear allies FSR Rontvia, Sara Bareilles has returned to represent the Federal Republic in their 58th outing. She will perform the superb 'Gonna Get Over You' in Semi Final two for the nation.

Sara keeps the points flowing as Ashton confirms it's participation for the next decade
Sara came home in 26th for Ashton after finishing 7th in the Semi-Final. The ASC have been quoted as saying 'We were very pleased to make the final once more and to continue to score points'.
The ASC have today confirmed the nations participation in the next decade of the contest with the Federal Body finally extending it's initial 50 contest agreement with the Government by 20 to take it to BJSC's 70th contest. Rumours from Ashton Square are that the ASC and GRd'Á are discussing a mammoth extension that will see the ASC oversee BJSC in Ashton up to BJSC CL.

I feel like I should inform you that the latest song to fall victim to me being a commercial whore and starting to love it after BJSC as it starts to get radio airplay is 'Little Nikki Says' Though even in the contest I thought it was definitely one of the better generic pop entries or the year.

Hunter Parrish is Ashton's 59th entry!

Ashton Rebels....
After Hunter was robbed of his rightful top10 finish last month source have confirmed that Ashton is continuing to REBEL against the indie crowd with it's forthcoming 60th entry. We're hearing the entry will be Ashton's first ever back to back male entries.
In other news, the Federal Parliament will be voting on a declaration of war against the nation who has blocked Ashton's primitive final entry of the year by kidnapping Ashton's Queen of Dance. Critics of the Government welcome the move after previous complaints that artist theft has been weakly prosecuted by Ashton in recent years following Elen Levon's kidnapping by the Terrorist Republic of Ramrynia.

Oops.

Poor beautiful Hunter
Ashton is likely Finland bound for LXI
Thanks to everyone who voted for Ashton throughout the year and in TBO. 3 songs in the heats and then a top20 final finisher is a pretty good showing all things considered.
Jenni Vartiainen makes the final!

I actually LIKE this, shockingly!
me also, good luck! very decent.
Thanks guys! Absolutely loving my entry this month.
'Missä muruseni on' & 'En haluu kuolla tänä yönä' >> 'Junat ja naiset' imo. great song though!
A decade of Foreign Language for Ashton?
After back to back foreign language finalists for Ashton, with Os To by Line finishing 25th in the BJSC LXII final, the ASC and SNÁ have reportedly committed to an entire decade of foreign language entries. An announcement is expected in the coming days from the pair confirming the launch of Risks FTW 3.0 and our source has confirmed that this will be on the same day as the announcement of Ashton's third non-english entry in a row, a national record.
Our source confirmed the song is Ukrainian.
Doubt it's the same one I have lined up for the foreign spin-off (I've got a male and you probably are only risky enough to do one of male/foreign thing at a time~~) but growing a bit WORRIED~
No I've not gone male this month so don't worry!
Federal Republic launched Risks FTW 3.0 with Via Gra - Peremyrye
Morpeth Cove, Rd'ÁC - 23/03/14 - 17:00 AST - SNÁ and ÁSC Joint Press Release - #119-EXTRN007-BJSC63-14
The ÁSC and Santi Natio Áskorza are today pleased to confirm the launch of Risks FTW 3.0. Ashton's successful entry strategy is entering it's third official phase with a decade of foreign language entries. This special run of entries is timed to celebrate Ashton's 50th contest as a BJSC moderating nation, in LXV.
The Federal Republic will be represented by Via Gra in FARC with the song Peremyrye. Title is a direct translation of the Cyrillic characters.
You can listen to the entry below:
ВИА Гра - Перемирие (Via Gra - Peremyrye)
Peremirie (Peremiriye) would be the more correct transliteration as y is usually the letter ы~
Is that the Ukrainian one you've been talking about? (btw they are Ukrainian but sing in Russian)
GOOD GOD they've changed their line up like 4 times more than Sugasluts! And they kind of announced their END last year as well. Weird.
((the scottish flag must've been the dealbreaker here, right?~~))
Yeah this is the Ukrainian one I was on about. I did know they sang in Russian though!
I noticed that even the almighty Svetlana Loboda was in the group. This one is like the 4.0 of Via Gra as it has no links to the original band of the same name.
(It got stuck in my head so easily)
Wow...can't believe it...when I asked you if I have time to change my entry, this was the one I had on my mind
It's an amazing song and I love it...hope it does well for the sake of armography in music video
She wasnt there for a http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A1%D0%BE%D1%81%D1%82%D0%B0%D0%B2%D1%8B_%D0%B3%D1%80%D1%83%D0%BF%D0%BF%D1%8B_%D0%92%D0%98%D0%90_%D0%93%D1%80%D0%B0 tho
This line up is really technically not even the same group. It'd be like MKS (although 3 random girls instead of former members) taking back the name Sugababes~
2002-2004 is really their golden period. Some amazing tunes. After that I wouldn't even bother lmao~
Peremirie is nice though which translates to Truce, right?
The title it does really fit with current situation in Ukraine.
They are singing 'I want truce; I ask for truce' indeed. And to think the song was written/uploaded LAST YEAR. How apt~~
Really is fitting for a Ukrainian entry to be singing about a truce. Didn't even make the connection
I think the music video pretty much gives that away (apart from them being sexy etc etc) but in the background you can see others fighting and gunning
I meant between the song and Ukraine's current situation, I got the link between the video and the song! (Although the Saltire is a hilariously random inclusion)
UK Mix has a song contest? Never knew that!
each month there is a song contest...not the same format as in here though, but it's been running almost 10 years now.
Fab choice. I nearly sent them to the Foreign Language spinoff, although the song I was going to send was also released (and sounded better in) English. Actually since they are essentially another group...
Is their name supposed to be 'Viagra' or does that mean something different in Ukrainian?
It means something different in Ukrainian but they know, and like, that it resembles Viagra.
I wouldn't say so, Silas. Technically, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VIA_music, but I think they chose the name specifically to resemble viagra. If you saw any of their videos (ESPECIALLY the old ones), you would understand WHY
i much preferred the original song you confirmed, sorry :X
You've 'liked' a couple of my entries in this past year and that's turned into so many points....
I didn't send it for the $uce$$. I'm sending my favourite foreign language track of the month because I wanted to challenge myself to find as much new non-English music as I could this year.
Really torn between two tracks for LXIV by LIGA:
Skylder Dig Ik' Noget
Julia
Leaning slightly towards SDIN at the moment. Any and all help is most appreciated!
Skylder Dig Ik' Noget is marginally better for me but I'm not keen on either particularly. Much respect for continuing with the year of foreign language entries by the way, Ashton have certainly provided some of the best over the years.
I have a brilliant Afrikaans language power pop song at #11 in my chart at the moment but I've passed up on sending it as I honestly can't see who it would appeal to out of the hipsters and pure pop fans. It's very 'In A Moment Like This' so the old-skool Eurovision fans that have nearly all departed the contest now would have probably loved it. Still I've been very happy with my recent German language experiments *.*
Björnskov for Ashton in Ashtonise held Final!
Ashton's representative for BJSC LXIV, Björnskov - Vi Er Helte, has returned to Ashton to the final once more. After a controversial 72hrs that saw the Federal Government of the Federal Republic of Ashton step in to seize the contest from it's hosts, order has been restored with the Semi-Final's being axed and all songs advancing to the final. This is the first return to the 1BF format since the reintroduction of semi's.
The Federal Republic will be noting the final at the Royal Ashton Concert Hall in the City of Morpeth, Morpeth Cove, Rd'ÁC. The results will be held in Bignia-Zaragovina.

LXV - Ashton stays with Scandinavia for the Former Scandinavian Republic hosted contest
Ashton looks to be staying put in Scandinavia once more this month making this the 5th of our last 6 entries to come from Scandinavia. The odd one out being LXIII's trip to Ukraine.
The ASC and SNÁ have made the unusual step of ruling an artist out publicly and have confirmed that the nation will not be represented by Gabrielle and her new track 5 Fine Frřkner. This is despite it rocketing straight to the top of the AshChart after being on sale for only 2 days before the chart was published. Gabrielle is liable for an Auto-veto having been entered 4 times since 2011. You can listen to the record breaking Ashtonise number one below:

It gives the SNÁ and ASC great pleasure to confirm that the Federal Republic of Ashton will be represented in the Former Scandinavian Republic of Rontvia by Albin with the song 'Din Soldat'. 'Din Soldat' features guest vocals from Kristin Amparo. This is Ashton's 5th foreign language entry in a row and it's 65th entry.

this continues to grow on me! your best entry since siobhan donaghy i think???? it's a shame its such a tough contest re: whether there will be points awarded or not but this is a great discovery (especially considering i don't really feature foreign language usually!) so thank you :3
Absolute earworm .
Thanks guys!!!!! I just can't stop playing it. It's my favourite entry probably since Envole Moi.
So thrilled to see you both making a discovery from it! Thanks for the support, regardless of whether or not it turns into points (Seriously tough month)
Foreign Language Year to Continue
The SNÁ and ASC have confirmed this evening that Ashton's year of Foreign Language music will continue in spite of blatant racism against non-English entries. An ASC spokeswoman said "Ashton will continue to send Foreign Language music, it gave us our only win and we feel that Non-English songs needed promoting within the contest. Many are amongst the contests best entries but languish at the bottom of the scoreboards due to the xenophobic attitudes of a surprisingly large number of nations."
Our reporter noted that the ASC spokeswoman was rather drunk as the Federal BJSC body commiserates itself with Din Soldat performing not as well as Ashton had expected.

Din Soldat finished 18th!
After a disappointing start to the evening the Federal Republic of Ashton finished 18th in Constarvan with Din Soldat. A pleasing result, matching the points total of Junat Ja Naiset with 91 points. (And position too thanks to a massive 4way tie for 17th)
The SNÁ and ASC are looking forward to launching #Ash66 after Buzzfestivalen.
Ashton will host the 3rd heat and the final of the third Buzzfestivalen.
Kliff - Maija for Buzzjackfestivalen III
Buzzjackfestivalen has returned for a third time! Once again the Federal Republic is hosting both a heat and the final. This month it's over to Néú Oslo for the Heat as the city makes it's BJSC hosting debut!
Ashton is performing in heat 4 of the 36 song competition and is being represented by Finnish boyband Kilff with the track Maija. This will be Ashton's second non-English entry to BJFest, with last years entry finishing a superb 4th for the nation! Maija is the latest in a long line of foreign language entries for the Federal Republic as the nation pushes ahead with it's strategy to only enter Foreign Language tracks for an entire BJSC decade.
Our ASC insider has told us that the ASC is aiming to re-establish Ashton's sound, promote foreign language tracks and reinforce the nations links with the Scandinavian music industry.

Kliff makes it to Morpeth Cove!
For the second Buzzjackfestivalen in a row Ashton has qualified Direkt Till Finalen!!!! Kliff have made it to the Royal Ashton Concert Hall in the City of Morpeth with their sublime track Maija.
We will find out the final two tracks that will join Kliff in Morpeth Cove tomorrow night. Kliff are rumoured to be performing 7th in the final.

Kliff finish strong in Morpeth as Ashton looks to #Ash66
Kliff put in a solid performance in Morpeth Cove to give the nation back-to-back successes at Buzzjackfestivalen.
It is highly likely that Ashton will be sourcing it's next entry from Scandinavia once more as the nations bid for a year of foreign language entries continues.

Ashton's Hopeful's for BJSC XLVIII
The ASC has revealed the three tracks fighting for the rights to represent The Federal Republic of Ashton at the 68th Buzzjack Song Contest in Persephonia. The ASC have said that International reaction to the selection is welcomed.
All three tracks are sung in a foreign language as Ashton enters the 8th month of it's mission to promote Foreign Language entries through it's Risks FTW 3.0 entry strategy

Alina Devecerski - Armé
Medina - Giv Slip

So you're not tempted to enter this then?
Medina is a clear veto I should think, though decent. Alina's song is a let down compared to her other singles, the Paw & Lina song is awesome
Could be worth mentioning that Bjřrnskov has an album out now~
Robin ends the Federal Drought!
Finnish pop sensation Robin has brought to an end the Federal Republic's DNQ run securing his place in the LXIX Final in Jamvale. Ashton has missed the last three finals, in a year of poor form for the nation. The ASC and SNÁ are persevering with Risks FTW 3.0 and are aiming to finish it's foreign language decade on a high before the unveiling of the first Risks FTW 4.0 entry.

Robin gives a strong points showing as Ashton wraps up Risks FTW 3.0
Robin finished above predictions outside the bottom 8 in the LXIX final in Jamvale! The SNÁ have today confirmed a Euro-inspired Polish entry for the nations final entry in it's year of foreign language entries. Risks FTW 3.0 has not seen many high achieving tracks but the SNÁ and ASC are reported to be pleased with the response within Ashton to the policy. Sources tell us that the ASC are glad to have stood out from the crowd and gone in it's own direction for Risks FTW 3.0 rather than blindly follow trends desperate for a hit.
Our sources have revealed that Risks FTW 4.0 will start off with a Jazzy number and a Danish dance epic (in English).

RisksFTW 4.0 arrives with a BOOM

Featuring Kara of KaraMel fame, The Boom Boom has been selected to be the Federal Representatives at the 71st Buzzjack Song Contest in the Republic of Adonia. With a brand of Trashy Electropop that Ashton made a name for itself with in the late 20's and 30's, Canadian's The Boom Boom are a welcome return for Ashton to the genre. The ASC and SNÁ have selected 'Creature' from 'The Booty and the Beats' EP to be Ashton's 71st entry. You can listen to it below!
okay so i like this lmao
Seriously? That I did not expect.
this is actually amazing I won't lie
If you like Creature then I recommend you give Underwear a spin too (Half way up the page before this one) as they share a vocalist and general trashiness.
Ashton will be back with something else trashy next month. Ashton's trash pop revival will not be foiled by a dodgy semi draw.
Despite suffering from 'wrong semi' for the first time in quite a while Ashton are determined to stick to it's guns. The trash revival is here to stay.
Ash72
The ASC has revealed the challengers to be the 72nd Federal Entry:
Lasgo - Sky High
IDA - Maybe I Like It
Sky High! I remember charting that song back a while ago and it still remains a tune! The Ida track is also pleasant too, although I do love the former more!
Maybe Ashton Likes It
It has been confirmed today that the 72nd Federal entry to the Buzzjack Song Contest is IDA with 'Maybe I Like It'. IDA is Danish and won X Factor DK in 2012. She has appeared twice before in BJSC.
This is a great entry. Fingers crossed for a top ten return for Ashton *.*
I'd be happy to make the final tbh. Last year was a tough year
Hell Yeah! Ashton makes another final
Tonight it was confirmed that the Federal Republic has qualified for its third final in a row with Midnight Red's Hell Yeah! You can listen to the track below
Hell yeah indeed! Fantastic entry!
Ash75
The ASC and SNÁ have today confirmed that they have entered a 5 week old track from an act that's a bit retro-trash.
Your clues:
-Don't want rhinestones on our microphones cause we ain't ever been to memphis!
-You're a little kid that looks like a squid- oh no!
You've got a bad perm like a can of worms- oh no!
Cheeks like a balloon, face of a baboon- oh no!
Everybody knows you eat the nails from your toes & you rub 'em in dirt and eat them for dessert!
Can't imagine who you're entering there
I know! Those clues are like super tough.
SHUT UP OMG
i imagine this will be the only time ashton will ever a song i've posted a topic on as well.
OH MY GOSH Silas. *.*
Iconic.
Gotta enter something memorable for your 75th contest
Andra Chansen for the first time!
Ashton has progressed through to the Andra Chansen round for the first time in BuzzjackFestivalen having failed to Qualify in the first year and then going direkt till Morpeth in II and III. (To finish 4th and 6th respectively)
You can vote for Kid Sister - Big N Bad in AC by calling BJSC-ASHT, texting 'ASHTON' to 105-BJSC or via the BJSC app!
very very good!
First Creature, now Big N Bad! (still nil points) I wonder if my 76th entrant will appeal too.
Got a couple of fab potentials, though none as trashy as Creature.
AND you and i alone!
paris hilton 4 76
You and I Alone should have qualified
Paris Hilton is trash. We prefer trashy. That y is important tbh.
---
Going through all my entries for the 'Rank your entries' thread. I've sent some utter GEMS in the past that'd I'd forgotten about a wee bit.
Ashton qualify for BuzzjackFestivalen final in Ashton
Kid Sister has qualified from Andra Chansen against the expectations of both the ASC and SNÁ to make the final in Morpeth Cove. For the 3rd year in a row the Federal Republic will have a home representative to cheer for in the BJFest final.
We'd like to thank all of the voters who supported Kid Sister in the Heat and AC. We hope to hold onto your vote in the final!
You can vote for Kid Sister - Big N Bad by calling BJSC-ASHT, texting 'ASHTON' to 105-BJSC or via the BJSC app! (All services may not be available in all territories)
Please enjoy the official video below (with a slightly extended intro)
YES GAWD
Didn't recognise it from the title but I actually knew this song already from ages ago (this is actually from the same album as the Kid Sister song I sent ages ago and I'm pretty sure other songs from the same album had been sent before even that)! Was fun to hear it again after forgetting it existed for so long. Hope this does well for u ~
Kid Sis lands Sixth!
The ASC and SNÁ are celebrating after Kid Sister finishes in 6th place in Morpeth Cove with Big N' Bad taking 100 points in the process along with 12 points from Harmonica, Sandebörg and Séyetana. Emperor Áskorza extends his gratitude to all nations who supported Ashton in the fourth Buzzjackfestivalen and a huge thanks to the three 12 point nations.
The Emperor is rumoured to have used the official Buzzjack Broadcasting Union afterparty to reach out to the governments of Harmonica, Sandebörg and Séyetana about potential alliances and reducing barriers to trade and the movement of people between the three nations and The Federal Republic. Rumours of a meeting between Ashton and Aeroche have not been confirmed at this time.
Séyetana graciously accepts any and all improvements in relations between it and the Federal Republic.
Big N Bad was the highlight of BJFest for me this time round, so very addictive, I had no idea Kid Sister was capable of such swag. Thank you for sending it
Same and same! Except I did know Kid Sister was capable of swag, it's just a shame we haven't heard anything from her in quite some time.
Ashton has been a great supporter of our mostly floppy entries so it was wonderful to finally return the favor in a big way. Well done!
ROMANS head to Unovia & Kylienips for Ashton
ROMANS has been selected by the ASC and SNÁ to represent the Federal Republic of Ashton with their song Uh Huh for the 76th Buzzjack Song Contest. Please find the song below:

rly good!!!!! been on an upwards roll recently :3
Totally Addicted to 00's Dance!
The ASC & SNÁ have confirmed that they have, at long last, entered Puretone's Addicted To Bass to the Buzzjack Song Contest. Often a rumoured entrant, even being confirmed once, the ASC have selected the Australian as it's entrant to the 00's Dance spin-off being held in Aeroche.
The highest selling dance track of all time in the Federal Republic, Addicted To Bass has never dropped out of the Id'RÁ Airplay 500 Chart (Indĺstríj d'Radjóbrřdkasten Áskorza, Industry of Radio Broadcasters Ashton) and is a frequent sight in the Airplay 100 Chart. You can listen to this timeless classic below:
Puretone came 6th and kicked ass So pleased
damn straight !! ur entries everywhere have been rly good these daiz
IRIS - I'll Wait For You - Ash77
The latest Federal entrant, IRIS - I'll Wait For You, has progressed to the final of the 77th Buzzjack Song Contest in Aquafina. With hype for the fabulous electro/synthy/pop track coming from nations that don't traditionally support the Federal Republic, some within the ASC are confident that the nation could see it's best result of the year so far.
You can listen our wonderful entry below:

IRIS storms home in 21st
IRIS become's the year's second highest finisher for the Federal Republic with her 21st place finish in Aquafina.
There are strong rumours coming from the ASC and SNÁ that they have found the 78th winner of the Buzzjack song contest. 50 contests after Molly Sandén was crowned Ashton's debut victor, the first tied winner and first foreign language winner (at the end of the trio of old guard ScandiBloc victories) in Kopečka.
The song has been described by those who have heard it as a soaring contemporary pop track with echo's of Demi Lovato's Heart Attack.

This reminded me of a Haim track. This was a gorgeous track. That's why I give the 6 points to Ashton.
All the best in the next contest.
Gabrielle finally makes Ashtřn's starting line-up
Popular Norwegian songstress Gabrielle, who has been notching up AshChart number 1's since Ring Meg, has finally been selected by the ASC and SNÁ to represent the Federal Republic of Ashton.
5 Fine Frřkner has been on the Federal Potentials list since it's release waiting until more than 3 years had lapsed since Gabrielle's last entry to the Buzzjack Song Contest. The ASC are reported to have been thrilled to have been able to come to an agreement with Gabrielle for her to perform the highest selling single in Ashton of 2014. Selling 201m copies to date 5FF spent 8 weeks at number 1 and is still to fall out of the AshChart 100.
Gabrielle and Ashton lined up in the First Semi Final in Jadakissnia and are hopeful tomorrow night to progress to the final in Mulgracia.

Gabrielle lands Ashtřn in TBŘ
The incredible Gabrielle has this evening been nominated to the Semi-Finals of The Best of the Buzzjack Song Contest LXXI - LXXX, aka TBO VIII, being held in Trén Sania, Sanvoria. After a year without any nominations, the ASC and SNÁ are thrilled that Gabrielle has qualified. By far the nations favourite entry of the LXXI-LXXX decade, there have been celebrations across the nation to mark the occasion.
The song, 5 Fine Frřkner, is a typically Gabrielle slice of electropop that worms it's way into your head and your heart! You can listen to the entry below.
Fact Sheet:
-Norwegian is the 3rd language of the Federal Republic and is the primary language spoken in some area's.
-Gabrielle is the lowest finisher to have been nominated to the Semi-Finals having finished just 32nd.

We are looking forward to our 9th decade in the Buzzjack Song Contest.
KITTY makes 4 in a row
With KITTY qualifying for the BJSC LXXXII final this evening it brings Ashton's Q streak up to 4, a number last matched from LII to LV. The stunning Scandipop track, Reach No Higher, is Ashton's 61st finalist out of 82 entries making the nations Qualification rate an impressive 74.39%
The SNÁ and ASC have confirmed that Ashton will be continuing on the path that has emerged in the 12 contests and that they have lined up an impressive array of potentials for the next few Ashtonise entries. Our source told us that they were excited to share with us the incredible songs that have been selected.

It's a Perfect Day for the Movie Spin-off
The Federal Republic of Ashton has entered Hoku's Perfect Day to the Movie Spin-off. The song, made famous in Legally Blonde, is the highest selling movie soundtrack of all time in Ashton. Legally Blonde is the nations favourite movie with TV Showings regularly drawing audiences of over 100m viewers. Legally Blonde has protected status in Federal Law making it illegal to show commercials during the airings of the film.
As Farahtyn forgot did not enter the Movie Spin Off we are backing The Federal Republic of Ashton in this with all are energy.

Ash83
Ella Sanoo - Leave This Town.
The Federal Republic of Ashton has confirmed 17 year old Ella Sanoo of Finland with her gorgeous track 'Leave This Town' as the nation bids to qualify for the fifth time in a row for the first time in 4 years.
#Ash85
The Federal Republic of Ashton is returning to the archives for its 85th entry.
4, 8, 11, 26, 55.
The countdown to #Ash85 begins now.
Just browsing youtube and I cam across this:
Former ESC and BJSC star Yohanna, who has been linked in the past with representing the Federal Republic, covering our 15th entry 'Give Me Sexy' by fellow Icelandic singer Haffi Haff.
Civil war in Ashton over #Ash85?
Sources within Governa Republique d'Áskorza, the Federal Government of Ashton, have revealed a bitter civil war has broken out between the GRd'Á and state broadcaster SNÁ, Santi Natio Áskorza (Ashton National Television), after a disagreement between the SNÁ and the BJBU over it's forthcoming entry. A spokeswoman for GRd'Á denied the allegations claiming to our reporter that "The SNÁ and GRd'Á have a great working relationship and this story is a complete falsehood made up by the irrational tabloids to sell newspapers". A spokesman for SNÁ also denied the allegations but did confirm that the BJBU had forced a change of the Federal Republic's 85th entry.
Last week we revealed that the SNÁ had selected Gabriella Cilmi to return to represent the Federal Republic with 'Symmetry'. Gabriella gained 12 veto points for her previous successes with the Federal Republic in the 8th and 11th contests, with her unjust DNQ in the 17th also noted. A new entry has since been confirmed.
Ashton did it All For Love
The wonderful Madison Beer is returning to the Buzzjack Song Contest! Joined by Jack & Jack, the sensational young American is representing the Federal Republic of Ashton with the wonderful "All For Love"
#AllForLove #Ash85 #LoveWins
This is your best song since "Hell Yeah"
Ashton Co-host and rock it out Country style
The Federal Republic of Ashton is pleased to confirm that it is hosting the second semi-final of the 86th Buzzjack Song Contest.
We're also pleased to confirm our first foray into Country music with the wonderful Jana Kramer and her track "I Hope It Rains". You can listen to the song below and in the second semi-final, live from Cove City Stadium, Cove City, Morpeth Cove, Reigia d'Áskorza Capitilia.
Jana joins CountryFM for a spot of Carpool Karaoke
Jana Kramer, Ashton's 86th entry, has joined Ashton's most popular Country Music radio station, Country FM, for a spot of Carpool Karaoke. Jana sang classics from her own back catalogue along with Spice Girls Wannabe!
County Carpool was filmed in Orlando-Florida, Ashworth in January ahead of the birth of her daughter.
You can support Jana in the final of the 86th Buzzjack Song Contest.
Ashton Standing in front of Speeding Cars for 87th Contest
The Federal Republic has today confirmed that their entrant to the 87th Buzzjack Song Contest is Irish band Walking On Cars with their fantastic track Speeding Cars. A musical and geographical first for Ashton the ÁSC and SNÁ have gambled on a very unashtonise sound to keep their momentum as they head for an 8th qualification in 9 contests.
Walking On Cars is competing in the first Semi-Final in Pupok.
Absolutely fantastic song, one of my favourites of the year. I swore it was a minor hit, but it looks like it didn't chart at all.
Thanks! Only found it very recently and I just fell for it. Not my usual genre at all either so was little surprised it clicked. It just missed out in the UK but I think it was a minor hit across the Irish Sea.
Ashton return to Sweden for LXXXVIII
The Federal Republic of Ashton are returning to Sweden as the source for their 88th entrant. The Swedish act was internally selected and the ASC & SNÁ have been keeping who it is a very closely guarded secret. What we can reveal is that they are a former Melodifestivalen participant, as are half of all Swedes, and that the ASC believes the song is a "bit of a banger".
As a trade off for the long gap between Swedish representatives it is believed the city of Santryan in the state of Ashworth, with a significant population of Swedish heritage, has negotiated a major role in the next BJSC related event to be held in Ashton. Some are speculating that the TBO final could be held outside of Morpeth Cove for the first time.

Ashtonise country sweetheart Jana Kramer is joining Dancing With The Stars this season! She'll be dancing with Gleb
https://mobile.twitter.com/kramergirl/status/770617613231816705?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet
That's great for her!! Her partner looks fairly easy on the eyes too
The Federal Republic are considering hosting a national final for the first time in years instead of its traditional internal selection process.
Ooh, I shall await this with interest!
Ash89 - En Natio Finalen
1
Glass Animals - Life Itself
2
SVĒ - Riot
3
Coco Morier - Dreamer
Glass Animals *obviously*, got some massive rotation on Radio 1, but I suppose it'd get past the veto. My second favourite band!
I was considering another track of theirs - I'll obviously hold out from entering that for now because of the possibility of you entering this
Glass Animals? How inspired...
'Life Itself' was A-Listed on Radio 1 for three weeks (just checked the archive) so that may not be the best option
I only heard for the first time this week and it wasn't on radio (I'd rather be deaf than listen to Radio1)
I think the thread in the indie forum and the radio exposure secures its veto status. Oops
Oooh! I had Riot as a potential ages and ages ago, what a song
glass animals is actually my least fave of the three, rly liking the other two, coco is my fave!
Pavel when was the last time you saw me in the indie forum???
Thanks guys that really helps! Usually I'm pretty decisive but this month I just couldn't split them for love nor money.
AshXC - The countdown to 100 contests
At a press conference today at the town hall in the City of Morpeth, the historical heart of Morpeth Cove, the Federal Government confirmed that Ashton will be entering the Buzzjack Song Contest as République d'Ashton once more. Sources within the Federal Government have indicated to SNÁ|News that this could be a precursor to the nation entering as Áskorza from it's 101st contest.
The Áskorzajn Selekti'yn Commití, ASC (Ashton Selection Committee), and Santi Natio Áskorza, SNÁ (Ashton National Television), also revealed the candidates for the nations 90th entry. They are as follows:
AURORA - I Went Too Far
Bec Sandridge - You're A f***ing Joke
Brooke Candy - Happy Days
You can listen to the entires below. En Natio Finalen Deux will air on SNÁ|1 on Sunday at 6pm. You can vote through the SNÁ's dedicated BJSC XC site: www.sna.ash/BJSCXC, through the SNÁ BJSC app or by calling 1800-ASHNF2-000 & the first three letters of the artists name. Ashton returns to Internal Selection for the anniversary decade
As the Federal Republic approaches it's 100th contest and the return of the Sugababes to the BJSC stage, the ASC has confirmed that no further national finals will be broadcast. SNÁ citing lack of reciprocal arrangements with international broadcasters the reason for refusing to broadcast a new Ashtonise NF. They say the ASC's lack of prolific participation in other nations NFs has lead to the broadcasters appeals for international participation being snubbed.
The ASC blame anti-Ashtonise sentiment for their lack of co-operation and for the nations poor run of results with a string of excellent entries. Ashton has now gone in excess of 30 contests without at top 10 finish in the Buzzjack Song Contest. Our source at the ASC has confirmed that Ashton's next few entries have been selected already without the need for a NF and all conform to the traditional 'Ashtonise sound'. The source labelled one as modern electrofempop, a genre Ashton has excelled at entering, and another as trashyelectrofempop. They heaped the most praise on Ashton's upcoming 91st entrant which they described as uplifting and soulful pop from Scandinavia.
Ashton Times - International Edition
Sabina Ddumba returns for Ashton
The wonderful Swedish songstress Sabina Ddumba returns to BJSC, this time with the Federal Republic for BJSC XCI. Her magnificent soulful anthem 'Not Too Young' has been selected by the ASC to begin the countdown to Ashton's 100th contest - where the nation will be represented by the Original line-up of the Sugababes.
You can hear the magnificent 'Not Too Young' below and vote for Sabina and Ashton in the second semi-final.
Ashton lines up the big guns for XCII
With the wonderful Sabina finishing in 14th place with 200 points* in the 91st Buzzjack Song Contest, the ASC have confirmed the return of a legend.
As part of Ashton's anniversary year, leading up to the 100th contest where the unparalleled Sugababes will take to the stage, the ASC is internally selecting a strong array of artists with the aim of #MakeAshtonWinAgain #MAWA
Sabina marked Ashton's first top15 finish in a number of years and the ASC are aiming to hit a few spots higher with an Artist who has never failed to deliver a top5 finish for Ashton. The one and only Queen of Ashton (and Tinnmark), our lord and saviour, Tone Damli Aaberge!!!!
The song has yet to be announced, but with an extensive catalogue of incredible tracks there is a myriad of potential winners to chose from! Here's how our, bound to be controversial, entrant has performed for Ashton and Tinnmark in the past!
XV - DNQ SF1-15th - I Know \\ Tinnmark
Tone's success didn't start immediately with her BJSC debut, for Tinnmark, failing to qualify for the 15th contest. 'I Know' is a stunner of a piano led, string laden, ballad.
XX - 4th - Butterflies
Melodi Grand Prix runner-up, to Eurovision winner Alexander Rybak, 'Butterflies' was Tone's first entry for Ashton and launched her into the top5 with an incredible 4th place. Butterflies remains one of the biggest hits of all time in Ashton and still receives frequent rotation on radio stations and music channels across the country.
XXVII - 12th - I Love You \\ Tinnmark
Continuing the theme of performing better for Ashton than the Norwegian majority state of Tinnmark, Tone returned to the contest with the soaring and sensational 'I Love You'. A song as worth of a top 5 as any of the Ashtonise entries.
XLI - 2nd - Look Back
Taking two steps closer 21 contests after her last appearance for Ashton, Tone returned with the undeniable hit 'Look Back' and soared to a near victory. Look Back's 2nd place was immediately followed by another 2nd for Ashton, becoming the nation's best back-to-back performance.
LII - 3rd - Smash
Cementing Ashton's position in the list of nations that have finished in all of the top 5 spots, Tone returned 11 contests later to finish 3rd with the insanely brilliant 'Smash'. Smash is of course the entry responsible for the introduction of the veto framework. Now 4 years later this top 5 starlet returns to a vastly changed contest, with scores of new entrants, to reintroduce Buzzjack to her genius.
Now she needs to hit the top spot to become the first artist to finish in every medal position for a single nation, if not ever! But what will she sing?? Will it be the sensational 'Winner of a Losing Game'? Perhaps the lush 'Heartkill'? The pure pop perfection of 'Perfect World'? Or maybe the incredible new single 'Pinnacle'? Stay tuned to find out!
*Persephonian interference with scoreboard resulted in a claimed 199 points finish. The Federal Republic disputes this alternative fact and does not recognise it as the official result.
OMG I thought you were joking! (Or at least giving some promo to whoever got you as the masquerade country)
This Tone song actually gives me Melanie Martinez/Lana Del Rey teas! Love it!
Ashton never jokes about Tone Damli
I'm glad! I'm living for it! It's just fab. Really hope to convert a few new people to the genius of Tone Damli.
Pinnacle for Ashton
The ÁSC and SNÁ are pleased to confirm that Pinnacle, the latest single by Queen Tone Damli, has been selected as the Federal entry for BJSC XCII. Please enjoy our sublime track below.
Pinnacle has been at number 1 on AshTunes since it's release with 4 weeks spent at number 1 on the nations official chart so far.
Getting kind of Tinashe vibes from this - this is actually really good, where was she hiding this quality in the past??
Tone through to her 5th Final!
The wonderful and flawless Queen Tone Damli, has qualified for her 5th final (4th for Ashton) this evening in Ultraviolenceland! The ASC and SNÁ are thrilled to have qualified for the final and to still be in the hunt for the victory has alluded Tone thus far. You can listen to the sensational Pinnacle below and support Ashton and Tone on their quest to #MakeAshtonWinAgain! History could be made next week if Tone wins by becoming the first artist to finish in all three medal spots.
WONDERFUL.
Y'all need Jesus
After the collective failure of the Buzzjack community to award Tone her rightful victory and two further unwarranted underperformances the ASC official spokeswoman has been quoted saying "y'all f***ers need Jesus".
To help you find him, please enjoy our new national anthem. We will be glorious.
#MakeAshtonWinAgain #EndRacismAgainstAshton #ToneShouldHaveWon #NewtonsThirdLawBitches
Ashton gambles with a huge risk for 95
Ashton's 95th contest see's the nation take a risk that the ASC has put on par with the first Male artist and the first non-English language entry. Our sources in the ASC have described the relationship with the SNÁ as stronger than ever, with the pair harking back to the early days of their relationship.
Ashton has internally selected some Nordic rap performed in Norwegian. A quick reminder of the last time a Norwegian female performed in Norwegian for Ashton, oder Ĺsten I Norsk, the amazing 5 Fine Frřkner by the ever wonderful Gabrielle.
#GabrielleWasRobbed #MakeAshtonWinAgain
Beaverdonia knows the curse of BJSC racism far too well
#toneshouldawon
Tone is the best thing to have been entered this year to BJSC.
I agree - I listen to it every week still!
Ĺsten hĺr en Attitudeproblem
The ASC and SNÁ are proud to present this months entry to the Buzzjack Song Contest. A remake of Karpe Diem's Attitudeproblem by Ashton's leading non-Ashtonise Government owned radio station, NRK's P3 - the leading radio station in the city of Néú Oslo.
Norwegian artists Izabell, Bendik, Stella Mwangi, Silvana Imam, Julie Bergan and Christine Dancke all come together to lend vocals to the remade/remixed track. (Artists presented in order of performance) The SNÁ are particularly fond of the video with it leading the play count on SNÁ owned music channels on Satellite/Cable and Ashton's Government Free-To-Air TV network Ashview.
Ashton SHOOK
After BJSC's utter failure in taste last month that sent Sorry, Not Sorry home after the Semi-Finals, the ASC and SNÁ weren't holding out much hope for success with P3's Remix of Attitudeproblem. This evening it was announced that not only did it not finish last with nil points, but that it had progressed the the grand final causing much shock throughout the nation.
Sources at all the national newspapers have told SNÁ|News that they were not prepared for an Ashtonise qualification which will now be front page news across the nation. A welcome relief for the government as it will distract from the ongoing controversy to award Néú Oslo the hosting rights for BJSC:Scandifest.
VERY GOOD. so glad it qualified, deffo one of the best of semi 1!
Takk!!! I'm so glad it's Q'd! It's so damned good and I just love the video
Special performance in Néú Oslo of Attitudeproblem
Izabell, Bendik, Julie Bergan and Christine Dancke were in Néú Oslo for the launch of Schlagerfest this week and took to the stage at an event in the suburb of Bergen on the city's northern outskirts to perform Attitudeproblem. Please enjoy!
Izabell, Bendik, Silvana Imam and Christine Dancke returned later that evening to perform the track in central Néú Oslo at the Karpe Diem gig that evening
Ashton's Wearing Nothing for 96
Ashton's 96th BJSC entry is Wearing Nothing by the wonderful Norway's Next Top Model winner Dagny! You can listen to Ashton's third Norwegian entry of 2017 below.
Try not to f*** this one up yeah! Pinnacle and Attitudeproblem both finished miles too low.
is that where she gained fame from?! that makes sense, she's gorgeous.
i know i keep saying 'oh this is ur best in ages' but this is definitely your best for me since you joined. STANNING
Apparently so! I totally see it though.
I adored Backbeat, what an 18! Really loving Wearing Nothing though, like you I'm pure stanning for this track.
Dagny celebrates final with intimate Morpeth Cove Gig
Following successful qualification to the final, SNÁ has broadcast footage from an intimate gig with Dagny in Morpeth Cove
Wearing Nothing
Dagny also performed her LXXIX entry for Fljótavík, which Ashton scored 18 points and finished in 33rd just behind the legendary 5 Fine Frřkner for Ashton.
Backbeat
It's clear to see why Dagny is now a firm favourite with the Ashtonise public.
Ashton returns to the top10 with Dagny
After a 3 decade wait, Ashton score's a double top 10 in the 10th decade of BJSC contests. The fabulous Wearing Nothing finished the night in 7th position! Tusen Takk for all your support <3
Dragon slaying in XCVII
Ashton has raided the archives as it continues to move towards it's 100th entry later this year by bringing back Dragonette!!! A long time ambition for the nation with Dragonette last representing Ashton in the 4th contest with the sublime True Believer.
Dragonette have a long history in BJSC coming 14th in II with debut single 'I Get Around', returning in XX to DNQ with 'Fixin To Thrill' then again in XXI for another DNQ with 'Pick Up The Phone'. XXVI and the death of the semi's saw Dragonette come 34th with Kaskade and 'Fire In Your New Shoes', before sensationally winning XLIII with 'Let It Go' after a tie break with a truly abominable thing.
This 7th entry for Dragonette is the first time they've been recycled by the same nation.
You can see the stunning video for 'Darth Vader' below. Royal Blues, the new album, is available now and is a banger!
Dragonette make it double 7's in Daehun
Ashton has finished in 7th position for the second contest in a row with Dragonette's wonderful Darth Vader!! A worthy follow-up to Wearing Nothing, Dragonette outperformed two other Federal Potentials to take a top 10 placing, Dragonette's third and second for Ashton.
Dragonette's 7th position comes on their 7th entry.
100 Contests in 3.....2........1
With just 2 more entries before Ashton participates in it's 100th Buzzjack Song Contest the nation has some promising tracks lined up for the next 3 months drawing inspiration from some of our biggest and proudest entries.
all building up to the big 100....
MUTYA/KEISHA/SIOBHAN
THE SUGABABES RETURN FOR BJSC C. DON'T MISS IT. X-MMXXVII
Molly Returns!
The Federal Republic's only winner, Molly Sandén has return to BJSC for a third time as part of Ashton's celebrations for their 100th contest. Molly will be performing the delightful Rygg Mot Rygg, released just days ago. The subtle and stunning track is likely to DNQ in part due to the rampant xenophobia towards foreign language songs and in part due to the contests current obsession with generic landfill dance that sound the same as their last 500 entries.
We would like to take the opportunity to encourage the participants who have joined since Molly won to check her music out and to search out her Swedish language material as it is stunning. Especially Hallelujah.
ÁSC & SNÁ confirm submission of Anniversary entry
Today the ÁSC along with broadcaster SNÁ have confirmed that Ashton's 100th Anniversary entry has been submitted to the Buzzjack Broadcasting Union officials as per the contest rules.

Gabrielle Returns for XCIX
As teased earlier this year, the build up to Ashton's 100th entry next month continues with the return of Gabrielle! Gabrielle returns for Ashton with the wonderful Nattergal, from the Nattergal era that also gifted the world a truly life redefining moment in 5 Fine Frřkner. You can hear the 4 year old epic below.
Ashton confirms it's 100th Anniversary Entry
To mark Ashton's landmark 100th contest, one of 3 nations marking the occasion in BJSC C, The ASC and SNÁ have confirmed the entry of our lords and saviours the Sugababes. Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy are representing the Federal Republic with an unreleased track from the somewhat abandoned Sacred Three era.
*pending Keisha-proof hosting.
The Federal Republic is excited and proud to be entering this landmark contest with 100% participation and the nations all time favourite artist.
I'M ALRIGHT
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8HOPivv_KEpUWstbmdSV0FoY0k
It has been confirmed this evening that Mutya Keisha Siobhan aka Sugababes 1.0 will be representing Ashton in our 100th contest with the utterly sublime I'm Alright. With the girls trademark three-part harmony in all of it's stunning glory, I'm Alright is a soaring anthem of a track featuring a breathtaking middle 8 from our supreme leader Mutya Buena.
Emperor Silas told SNÁ|News earlier today that MKS were the natural choice for Ashton's 100th contest. "Mutya's voice is the core foundation of Ashton's national religion Buenaism. No other artist could come close to defining the modern Federal Republic as the Sugababes can. Through all the line up changes they've provided hit after hit claiming most of the 25 highest selling singles of all time. Their third album, Three, is so ubiquitous that one in every three Áskorzajn's owns a physical copy. Including digital sales there is approximately 1050 copies of Three per 1000 people. We had a challenging time choosing from the Sacred Three tracks. Summer of 99, Love In Stereo, Boys, Drum, No Regrets and Today were all considered as our entry at some point over the past 10months. In the end, we stuck with our gut instinct and are sending the very 2.0 I'm Alright."
Emperor Silas also confirmed that MKS had been approached about representing Ashton for the 100th contest as soon as the 50th contest had finished.
A Decade in BJSC \ Ashton's most played tracks
To mark a decade of BJSC Ashton has raided the archives for it's 40 most played BJSC entries. The top 15 Ashtonise entries and Top 25 International entries.
Only 2 countries have more than 1 entry on the list.
11 of the tracks are from the first decade, and 3 are from this most recent decade.
International 25-21
https://vimeo.com/40871249
25 \ Oh My! - Kicking And Screaming - Unovia XXXVI
Still probably my favourite Unovian entry of all time. It's catchy electrofempop. What is there not to love?
24 \ Gabrielle - Ring Meg - Tinnmark XXXVI
So it's no 5 Fine Frřkner, but honestly what is? Gabrielle's first BJSC entry is a stone cold classic!!!
23 \ Galantis - Runaway (U&I) - Aquafina LXXI
This one came as quite a shock to me, but in at 23 is Galantis with Runaway. A storming beauty of a track.
22 \ Sweet California - This Is The Life - FSR Rontvia LXIII
The first appearance by the almighty FSR Rontvia is with Sweet California's sublime 'This Is The Life'. I say first because let's be real here we all knew that FSR were racking up multiple entries on this list. Question is, how many of the 25 tracks belong to them.
21 \ Kaci Battaglia - Crazy Possessive - Kopečka XVII
Childhood fave Kaci returned with this epic psychobitch anthem. A true trashpop classic.
idk why but i'm half expecting Pinnacle and maaaaybe Rygg Mot Rygg on here in reality it's mainly gonna be gabrielle and tone damli songs but can't complain about that
Ashton 15-11
15 \ Karpe Diem feat Izabell, Bendik, Stella Mwangi, Silvana Imam, Julie Bergan & Christine Dancke – Attitudeproblem (P3 Remix) - XCV
Narrowly knocking out Red Blooded Women's Colour Me Dirty, Attitudeproblem is Ashton's 15th most played BJSC entry of all time. WHAT. AN. ANTHEM.
The rightful winner of XCV, the P3 Remix of Karpe Diem's Attitudeproblem is full of powerful badass women and hella attitude. Mwangi and Bergan are a particular highlight.
I f***ing love this track and I am so so so glad that I entered it.
14 \ Lorelei Carlson - Alone - XIII
A cult classic from early Ashton. Our 13th entry was a myspace discovery, mad how that used to be a thing, and hit me instantly for being catchy AF.
13 \ Tone Damli - Smash - LII
Like FSR Rontvia having multiple entries, the fact that this isn't Queen Tone's only appearance should shock no one. A true legend and one of my absolute all time favourite artists, this utter smash smashed in at number 3 completing Ashton's set of top 5 finishing positions. f***ing love this song and am a lowkey a little proud that it's part of the reason the veto framework exists.
12 \ Ida - Maybe I Like It - LXXII
Originally confirmed 9 contests earlier in LXIII before being pulled for Ashton's decade of non-English entries, when Ida was eventually entered she managed 13th for Ashton. A loveable catchy slice of Scandipop I can't help but sing along whenever this comes on.
11 \ Tone Damli - Pinnacle - XCII
CRIMINALLY ROBBED of her long overdue and long deserved win, Pinnacle is my 11th most played BJSC entry and my 90th most played overall. Queen Tone's return at the start of 2017 utterly slayed me. It's everything I could have wanted from her and so much more. I honest to christ have no idea how this didn't win (the title of my follow up entry summed up quite aptly how I felt about 8th place for Pinnacle) luckily y'all have a chance to rectify that hideous error in TBO.
International 20-16
20 \ Margaret Berger - Will You Remember Me Tomorrow - Kingdom Of Shadow IX
The ultimate BJSC entry, the entry that truly defines the contest, the saviour of the first decade. The legendary Margaret "That Burger Woman" Berger with 'Will You Remember Me Tomorrow' from the album 'Pretty Scary, Silver Fairy' (f***ing love that album title). A track truly deserving of it's status as a BJSC legend. This is true Scandipop perfection and I live for every single second of it.
19 \ Verbalicious - Don't Play Nice - Simondly III
Before she was Natalia Kills and before she was eviscerating contestants on Kiwi X Factor for "copying" the "look" of her basic AF husband she was Verbalicious and Don't Play Nice was a choooooon and a half.
18 \ Pixie Lott - Boys & Girls - FSR Rontvia XI
The BJSC version of Boys & Girls is up next. I still prefer this demo version to the song she later released from her debut album. For me, Pixie Lott peaked with this track...before her career actually began. Ooops.
17 \ Caro Emerald - A Night Like This - FSR Rontvia XXV
I've seen Caro 4 times live, am already booked in to see her for a 5th time and I cannot begin to describe how much of an impact this entry had. Caro has become a true favourite of mine who it is a real pleasure to see perform live. If you've never seen her on tour, you absolutely must. She's phenomenal, like this song, and you won't regret it. A Night Like This is a timeless classic that never fails to make me smile when I hear it.
16 \ Azealia Banks - 212 - Eledan XXXIX
Fairly sure I didn't even point this at the time or in TBO... Well it did eventually click in a massive way. I mean every other word is a swearword, it's like me in the form of a song. Bonus points for liberal use of my second fave word c**t.
International 15-11
Final batch of 5 before I start my top 10 countdowns!
15 \ The Veronicas - Hook Me Up - Mdiče III
Everyone's favourite Brisbanites The Veronica's are my 15th most played with Hook Me Up! Such a classic track and a major part of the soundtrack to Uni for me.
14 \ Maria Haukaas Storeng & Mira Craig - Mine All Mine - FSR Rontvia VII
The queens of ESL pop strike again! This epic collaboration from the same duo responsible for the beacon of ESL Scandipop that is 'Hold On Be Strong' was on paper always bound to be a f***ing great track and oh my it certainly lives up to that billing. f*** I love this song so much
13 \ Markoolio & Linda Bengtzing - Värsta Schalgern - FSR Rontvia XXVIII
Before Petra and Mĺns changed our lives with 'Love Love Peace Peace' there was 'Värsta Schlagern'. A skit from Sweden's top TV show Melodifestivalen, this schlager classic is a huge favourite of mine from the month I won with another Swedish Language epic.
12 \ Tone Damli - I Love You - Tinnmark XXVII
With a handful more play than Pinnacle, the 3rd Tone Damli entry on this countdown is 'I Love You' courtesy of Tinnmark. Flawless in every single god damned way. Truly stunning love track from Queen Tone. This is the second Tinnmark entry here and they are the only other nation to have more than 1 track appear! f***ing stunning track.
11 \ Lily Allen - f*** You - Nonsuch VIII (as Guess Who Batman)
My hate anthem, Lily Allen's f*** You once provide the soundtrack to a 13 hour transpacific flight where I didn't have a working TV and the c**t in front reclined his seat the whole way back. I bloody love singing (ok, more like screaming) along to this in the car. Especially when stuck behind a tractor or someone travelling slow AF.
#10
10 \ Dragonette - I Get Around - Rivandia II
Lead single from the almost perfect Galore, 'I Get Around' is my 10th most played International BJSC track. I've been a stan since they opened for the Sugababes Greatest Hits Tour, this 2007 electropop classic is so. f***ing. good.
10 \ Gabrielle - Nattergal - XCIX
I knew the moment I heard this that I absolutely had to enter it. Only problem was Gabrielle had been entered so many times that it'd pick up a tonne of veto points and be vetoed. So I played the long game eventually entering this to the 99th contest. Entering 5FF was of course the absolute priority and was done as soon as her last entry was more than 30 contests ago. I'm utterly horrified that this didn't qualify. I know it's not as good as song of life 5 Fine Frřkner but it was still, by a f***ing landslide, better than any of the shite the rest of y'all entered to 99.
SABINA AND TONE THROUGH TO TBO X FINAL!
We interrupt your regularly scheduled broadcast to bring you breaking news.
Sabina Ddumba and Tone Damli have qualified for the TBO X final, to be held here in the Federal Republic.
Not Too Young was a surprise qualifier for the Semi-Finals with both of Ashton's 7th place finishers missing out entirely. Tone is a TBO veteran having appeared in TBO following each of her Ashtonise entries. Her solo top 10 finish coming in TBO II with Butterflies.
#9
09 \ Ricki-Lee - Raining Diamonds - Hendinia XXXIX
Very firmly into the territory of my absolute favourite songs here. My 63rd most played song since 2006, Raining Diamonds is the kind of pop Hendinia does so well. It's absolute perfection and a real anthem of a track.
09 \ Daphne & Celeste - You And I Alone - LXXV
DNQ, y'all on glue. After defining my childhood with the anthems 'Ooh Stick You' and 'U.G.L.Y.', Daphne & Celeste returned out of nowhere in 2015 with a contender for SONG. OF. THE. YEAR. promptly f***ed back off into obscurity again....UNTIL 2 months ago when they reappeared on Twitter to announce themselves as the SAVIOURS of 2018. YES. That's right bitches! A second Daphne and Celeste album will be out before the second Sugababes 1.0 album. Who'd have thought that...
#8
08 \ Mira Craig - Headhunted - FSR Rontvia X
Do you want this job? Coz baby a boo boo you've been headhunted! This is truly ICONIC. The original marmite BJSC entry you either loved this (correct) or hated this (incorrect). The original and best Mira Craig track.
08 \ Sugababes - Whatever Makes You Happy - XXI
Oldest song in the list and the first of the 40 to actually be in my 50 most played tracks of all time at #48. (everything else that follows is one of my 50 most played songs)
Entered to mark Keisha-gate as a nation in mourning, this Keisha heavy, Keisha penned epic comes from my favourite album of all time, Three. Only 'Hole In The Head' from that album ranks higher in my most played songs.
#7
07 \ Delta Goodrem - Believe Again - FSR Rontvia I
I imagine most of you had this marked down as the number 1 on the list! In at number 7 is the stunningly beautiful Believe Again from the very first contest. It just misses out on the top 40 coming in at #41 on my all time list with 252 plays. I just absolutely love this song so much.
07 \ Ellen Levon - Like A Girl In Love - XLII
Part of back-to-back second placings, Like A Girl In Love is such a stormer of a dance track and I adore it (Cool Enough is 28th on the International list)
#6
06 \ Kate Ryan - Ella Elle L’a - Xanaga VIII
The first foreign language track I ever really took to, Ella Elle L'a became a pre-drinks anthem at uni for me and my friends. Such a f***ing fabulous track
The English version is blasphemy.
06 \ Tone Damli - Look Back - XLI
Tone's back! My 30th most played song of all time with 303 plays, Look Back is the other half of that back-to-back 2nd place finish. Tone does have another, final song to come in this countdown. One of I Know and Butterflies will miss out.
Look Back kicked off Tone's Greatest Hits, shut up yes she has hits, and I bloody love this track. It's just so f***ing good.
I'll post the final 5 for each chart tomorrow
#5
05 \ Kid Sister - Right Hand Hi - United States of Jack XIX
Another one I'm not entirely sure I pointed at the time but I hella love now. It's just so damned good. My 22nd most played at 325 plays, it's one of 3 Kid Sister tracks in my all time top 30!
05 \ Richard Vission, Static Revenger & Luciana - I Like That - XXVI
If I combined all the versions of this together, it'd be by most played track of all time. This version is =24th on my all time list with the same number of plays as the song in 4th on the Ashton countdown. Superb and sassy AF this track is the shit.
#4
04 \ Anna Abreu - Music Everywhere - FSR Rontvia XX
Trashy scandipop ftw. Describes how much of us feel about music really bundled up in a catchy high tempo, high energy scandipop masterpiece. Infamous for being Pavel's most hated BJSC entry of all time.
04 \ Gabriella Cilmi - Don't Wanna Go To Bed Now - XI
A favourite of mine from the moment I saw her support the Sugababes before her album release. Infectious and fun, this song is so f***ing great and yeah I love it to bits.
#3
03 \ Kid Sister feat Cee-Lo - Daydreaming - Cadbury XXII
The highest of the 3 Kid Sis tracks in my all time chart at #19 is Daydreaming! (Big N Bad is the third at #28) So easy to sing along to, I even love the Cee-Lo bits! All round fab song.
03 \ Gabrielle - 5 Fine Frřkner - LXXIX
Only taking the Bronze medal is 5 Fine Frřkner. Well on it's way to stealing the title of 'favourite song of all time' from the grasps of the Sugababes, with 376 plays 5 Fine Frřkner is my 14th most played song of all time. Despite criminally underperforming in LXXIX, along with Dagny's sublime Backbeat, 5FF made that years TBO against all the odds finishing 24th in it's semi-final before smashing the second PFSC on it's way to the victory that was rightfully Gabrielle's. Now famed for appearing in Skam, I've been in love with this track since it first appeared in 2014. It's just f***ing incredible and I love it so much.
#2
02 \ Alcazar - Stay The Night - Numayania XIX
Cruelly ROBBED of international fame by La Voix at Melodifestivalen, the gayest thing to come out of Sweden since Alcazar is the silver medalist on my international countdown. Recently overtaken by 5FF on my all time list, this song is just such an anthem. With the camp dialled up to infinity, Stay The Night is the ultimate trashy scandipop song. It's not ashamed to be an in your face, camp, fun all empowering ANTHEM.
02 \ Tone Damli - Butterflies - XX
Talking of songs that were robbed of international fame at a Eurovision selection, it's Melodi Grand Prix runner up to runaway Eurovision winner Fairytale, Butterflies! Slight jump in play counts here with Butterflies being 4th on my all time playlist with 631 plays. Just 1 behind Freak Like Me, 12 behind my most played BJSC entry and 17 behind Jessica Mauboy's Burn. It's just a matter of time before it takes the number 1 spot...to keep it warm for 5FF of course!! Just sublime. Iconic. Life-changing. A true 15/10 moment.
The Winners Circle
International #1
My most played BJSC international song, 8th on my all time chart with 439 plays, will come as no surprise to some who know of the legendary status of this track. Of course coming from FSR Rontvia it's......
01 \ Untouched - Smack Me - FSR Rontvia VI
I C O N I C
Your faves could never. The queen of trashyelectrofempop, Smack Me is the song that this contest owes a great deal of gratitude to. Facing declining interest and looking at a switch to being less frequent, then moderator Rich came across Smack Me in a music week compilation CD. He had to enter it an immediately. Sparking the Untouched/Serebro incident and a renewed interest in the contest. Smack Me saved the contest and allowed it to reach 10 years and 100 contests.
f***ing incredible track.
Ashtonise #1
The obvious candidates are gone. Tone's 4 entries have all been and gone. 5FF finished 3rd. What else could it possibly be??? My second most played song of all time with 643 plays is...
01 \ Albin & Kirstin Amparo - Din Soldat - LXV
Yeah y'all defo didn't see that one coming! My favourite entry from 2014's year of foreign language pop, this is precisely the reason why I did it. Instead of overlooking this track I went out of my way to listen to it and boy am I glad that I did! I absolutely adore it even if after nearly 650 plays I still can't sing along to Albin. Got the Kirstin Amparo section on lock tho!
Wanted to do a decade of BJSC countdown with a little twist. Look forward to seeing everyones year end/decade end countdowns over the coming weeks!!
Wow, what sort of incredible list this is *.* both Ashton and international, amazing to see so many of mine have made a genuine impact on your life. Not surprised to see Smack Me at the top, very surprised at Din Soldat but it’s a great track.
Holy shit your entire #5 section is a THROWBACK I can’t believe “I Like That” is seven years old though, I’m getting old af
ASH-CI
A new era for Ashton
The SNÁ and ÁSC today stunned the assembled Ashtonise press by revealing that Ashton's long standing entry strategy "Risks FTW" was being retired. Making a tentative debut in BJSC VII before a full debut in XII, Risks FTW through it's many phases has underpinned 89 of Ashton's 100 entries. The new era for Ashton is based on Ashton's core sounds: Foreign Language & Electrofempop. The first wave of the strategy, unofficially titled "Xenophobic dull bast*rds", is Deutschland Über Alles. DÜA will see a wave of entries either in German or from German artists.
First up is Spanish-German Alvaro Soler with the sensational Sofia.
This catchy, charming, Spanish-language pop number has already been a huge hit across Spain, Germany and Ashton. Now the SNÁ and ÁSC hope to spread that across Buzzjack. Enjoy, we certainly are!
Literally had this stuck in my head all day. Probably in like the top 5 best Ashton entries. And this is after I kinda hated 'El Mismo Sol'!
(kinda super tenuous to claim this as a German entry tho xxx)
It's been stuck in my head on and off since September Glad that you're enjoying it!!
For me El Mismo Sol is not one of his stronger tracks. The album has some really enjoyable tracks on it.
(He is German and that's good enough for DÜA! There's nothing tenuous about next months entry. It's very Deutsch)
Sofia through to final
Deutschland Über Alles, the first wave of the ÁSC and SNÁ's new entry strategy "Xenophobic dull bast*rds", is off to a flying start with Ashton's entry through to the final. Sofia, by Spaniard/German Alvaro Soler, is a catchy and addictive Spanish language bop with an infectious energy. You can listen to this charming and fantastic track below and vote for Ashton to win in the BJSC CI final.
WE WON!!!!!
Ashton is a nation in shock and United in celebration after Alvaro Soler’s incredible, catchy, charming Spanish language pop song “Sofia” became the country’s second BJSC winner in the 101st BJSC tonight in Aeroche.
Emperor Silas has declared tomorrow to be a national day of celebration.
We anticipate that the ÁSC will confirm Morpeth Cove as the host city and other timings once they have sobered up on Thursday.
Emperor Silas was quoted in between strawpedoing Champagne saying “We would like to thank from the bottom of our hearts all who enjoyed our entry this month and all who awarded it points. To win with another Foreign language track means a lot to Ashton. This is a very special track and we are so glad that BuzzJack agreed. This means so much. Thank you.”
You can listen to the BJSC CI winner below:
The title defence begins
Deutschland Über Alles
Freedom is Gold for Ashton!
We're pleased to confirm our entry for the 102nd Buzzjack Song Contest, held here in Morpeth Cove, is Freiheit = Gold (Hey Boy!) by Wunderwelt! This is the first time Ashton has entered a track in German and is part of Ashton's ongoing Deutschland Über Alles entry strategy that saw the nation achieve glory last month with Alvaro Soler and Sofia. Freiheit ist Gold translates as Freedom is gold, and we certainly hope this German bop brings home another Gold!
Wunderwelt and Ashton have automatically qualified for the final of BJSC < CII > and will not be participating in the semi-finals, however will be voting in both!
You can listen to our latest entry below:
Actually a second really good entry in a row from you!! I don't usually think the German language sounds particularly good in pop music but it works well here. Ashton really gunning to keep the YTD #1 with this.
Thanks!!! I f***ing love this track, so exciting to see others enjoy it too! Being top 10 at year end would be nice, and the first time in forever! We overdue some sustained love from the BJSC masses
I don't find anything off-putting about German language tracks in pop, possibly because I'm already very used to the Germanic languages Swedish & Norwegian/Danish that have a lot of linguistic similarities.
Wunderwelt take 4th in Ashton
BJSC < CII > has concluded with the home nation taking 4th position!!! Thank you to everyone who supported Ashton & Wunderwelt!! We followed up our win with a better result than 9th with our last win and took another top 5 so we are very pleased with the result!!! (Another bloody 4th!!)
CIII
Country: République d'Áskorza
Contest: CIII
Location: Křngreich Tinnorsk
Location Status: United Kingdom of Tinnmark and Ashton. Strong Allies. Part of the often unnoticed TinnAshFroze voting bloc.
Artist from: Switzerland
Speaks: German
Language of song: English
Entry Strategy: Xenophobic Dull bast*rds
Phase: Deutschland Über Alles
YTD #1 Status: Secure
Hoping this is just as good as your previous entry bc that is probably in my top 5 Ashtonise entries of all time
(all time being since I joined but whatevs)
I've been playing it back-to-back with Sofia and Freiheit = Gold (Hey Boy!) a lot this week asking myself that same question. It's a little different than both but meshes well with them. Really pleased you enjoyed it so much!!! (and of course for your continued stanning of Hell Yeah!)
Nattergal -> I'm Alright -> Sofia -> Freiheit = Gold (Hey Boy!) -> CIII is probably my favourite run of entries since my all time favourite string of Ashtonise entries:
XXV // DNQ \\ Natalie Bassingthwaighte - Turn The Lights On [6th TBO:Rejects XXI-XXX]
XXVI // 31st \\ Ricard Vission, Static Revenger & Luciana - I Like That [SF4 TBO XXI-XXX (DNQ)]
XXVII // 16th \\ Gabrielle Aplin - The Liar And The Lighter
XXVIII // 1st \\ Molly Sandén - Mitt Liv Är Mitt [25th TBO XXI-XXX] [23rd WYRMT?]

Luca Hänni aims high for Ashton in CIII
The third entry of Deutschland Über Alles, the first phase of the Federal Republic's new 'Xenophobic dull bast*rds' entry strategy, is from Swiss cutie Luca Hänni. (Ya Persephonia we know, Ashton is stretching the definition of Deutschland again, but it's our definition so there ). The incredible pop track, Powder builds steadily into an epic second chorus and superb final chorus.
The ÁSC and SNÁ have told us off the record that they are hoping that Luca will secure a top 5 finish giving Ashton back-to-back-to-back top 5's for the first time in the nations history. And what a damn fine trio of top 5's Sofia, Freiheit = Gold and Powder would make!
While different from CI's winner Sofia, and the Ashton hosted CII's 4th placer Freiheit = Gold; Powder certainly sounds like a 2018 Ashton entry!! We at BJSC-Today are wondering what took the ÁSC and SNÁ so long to switch up the entry strategy from Risks FTW to XDB??? If you have a theory, let us know in the comments!
You can watch the superb video below, which we heavily recommend. Luca is FINE AF and their dancing is on POINT. You will love it.
Vote for Luca Hänni - Powder and République d'Ashton in Semi-Final 1 in Ĺsnesia, the capital of our close allies Tinnmark.
Source: BJSC-today.ash
your entry is very very [REDACTED]
It's very very very [UNREDACTED] now! Wasn't expecting Erik to drop the semi's as I was typing
We prefer the Holy Roman Empire definition of Germany's borders tbh
Luca Hänni takes 8th for Ashton in CIII
The third entry of Deutschland Über Alles, the first phase of the Federal Republic's new 'Xenophobic dull bast*rds' entry strategy, from Swiss cutie Luca Hänni has finished 8th in Tinnmark this evening!
Not quite the triple top5 that the ÁSC and SNÁ were wishfully lusting after, but a fifth 8th position is fantastic way to continue Ash18! We're looking forward to bringing another hit next month in New Lexico
Ash104
Still horrified at how this did in CIV, especially at some of the things that outscored it. Luckily y'all have a chance to put things right in CV when XDB hits up Polen.
Nice to see Natalia back! I almost self-recycled with the fantastic Spokoj a few months ago and I considered Kokosanki too at one point, it's great, and so is she.
She really is!! I’ve been jamming to the song since it was released so I was glad to bring her back
Back to Polen for CV
The Federal Republic of Ashton returns to Poland for their 105th entry. Recycling the wonderful Natalia Nykiel from FSR Rontvia to send the fantastic Kokosanki. The ÁSC remains committed to it's XDB entry strategy as it moves beyond the DÜA initial phase and into phase 2.
You can support Natalia and Ashton in the second Semi-final.
Ash107 returns to Scandinavia
As Buzzjack's rampant xenophobia rears it's ugly head again, sending another Federal entry undeservedly home at the Semi Finals, the ASC and SNÁ have returned to Scandinavia for the next Federal winner.
This is Nova Miller with the fanf***ingtastic 'Turn Up The Fire'
#JusticeFürEineSprache
Ash108 - Signs point to a Luca return
Swiss cutie Luca Hänni has returned to the Buzzjack Song Contest with just a 4 contest gap between entries. This time he brings summer bop Signs to the contest being held in Summerica. The ASC and SNÁ are hoping Luca can outperform the also wonderful Powder, which was about 7 places lower than it deserved.
Safe is a great entry, is it all over the radio in Germany currently?
I always buy the Bravo Hits compilations and it's on the latest edition of that so I heard the song for the first time a few weeks back.
You may be interested to know that Auf Uns was a very close 2nd in choosing what to send to YBO, I still listen to it all the time, <3 German pop *.*
Thanks! Yeah it’s had some solid airplay here although i think it’s been a little displaced by “Oh hello” now as that dropped a couple of weeks ago (album was out on Friday)
I’ve been holding onto it since it came out trying to decide if i should send it or not.
Ooooh yay! Although I’ve got to say the pick you went with was excellent! Very timely too, this past couple of months it’s worked it’s way back into regular rotation for me so I’m thrilled to see it in the line up. Einfach zwölf!
This was featured in All-American last week!
This is one of my fave ever entries of yours, great track!
Ashton doesn't speak French in BJSC CX
Namika, with her Ashton & German #1 smash hit Je Ne Parle Pas Français, is the final representative of the year for the Federal Republic of Ashton. With very #relatable lyrics. Namika is the latest German to represent Ashton, and aside from a couple of lines in French, is singing in German making it Ashton's 4th German Language entry of the year.
A decade of Áskorzjan rule
After a rough run of 10 contests, SNÁ and the ASC have vowed to come out swinging as they approach their 100th contest in charge of the Buzzjack Song Contest. At a press conference the GRd'Á promised to ensure the contest fired into the next decade of Áskorzjan rule with the revolutionary spirit that their reign started with.
As for the unceremonious dumping out of the Áskorzjan entrant in the semi's for the last three contests, the SNÁ had only this to say: "We will stay true to ourselves, but have absolute faith that just because you think you can stuff us back on the shelf that doesn't mean we can't do what you do better"
They then hit play on the below video and left the room. A reminder that the Sugababes only Brit award was for Best Dance Act? A reminder that their cover of a Rihanna track is better than the original? Who knows what was going through the mind of the SNÁ commissioners, but for the first time in a while they didn't throw their usual "xenophobic showers of racists" soundbites at the assembled media.
What's in a name change
The Governa République d'Áskorza has today confirmed that the Federal Republic of Ashton will be abandoning the hybrid English-Áskorzjan name République d'Ashton in favour of the full Áskorzjan "République d'Áskorza". The countries official short names are "Rép d'Ákz" and "Rd'Á". The correct demonym is Áskorzjan.
Our entrant this month has also seen success under a previous moniker. A legend returns.
Only You have the power to return Ashton to its final positioning
https://soundcloud.com/phil-kelly-657388534/republique-daskorza-bjsc-cxiv/s-HKDX7
The legends of pop and Áskorzjan royalty Mutya Keisha Siobhan return to BJSC to represent République d'Áskorza for the 6th time in the main contest. Only You, from the post-Polydor sessions is a fantastic uptempo sorta quasi dancepop banger.
We look forward to Áskorza returning to the final this month.
a bop! shame i'm not in semi 1
There's always a chance at redemption
After a highly offensive placing for 15/10 SONG OF LIFE moment that is Only You (SNÁ and ÁSC notes and appreciates the high level of support from #00247E (better known within Ashton by it's Áskorzjan translation Natio d'la coláir - nation of the colour)) and the disgraceful dumping of yet another Áskorzjan entry in the semi-finals, the SNÁ and ÁSC were not holding much hope for BJSC CXVI entrant Lotte - indeed news has been slow to come out from the SNÁ/ÁSC BJSC HQ after the shock qualification was announced. Our sources have indicated that a lot of preprepared press materials relating to the reaction from CXVI and the Federal Republic's 117th entry was hastily shredded this morning!
Performing "Schau Mich Nicht So An" (don't look at me like that), Lotte has brought a magical midtempo about the struggle of not going back to an ex-lover, as much as you are drawn to them. Schau Mich Nicht So An is Áskorza's 6th German language entry since the start of the new century of BJSC contests. (English with 8 leads the way with Spanish and Polish on one each)
You can give our fantastic entry a spin below!!
VOTE FOR LOTTE
AshtonTimes has tracked down some exclusive footage from an intimate gig that Lotte performed in Aeroche following her qualification to the BJSC final. We thank Aeroche for their hospitality!
Be sure to also check out more from the excellent Lotte! Schau Mich Nicht So An is the first single from her second album (coming later this year), but her debut contained some wonderful track and a few former Áskorzjan potentials including 'Auf beiden beinen' and our personal favourite from Lotte's debut album, 'Farben'.
Redemption 2.0
Not since Powder has an entry from République d'Áskorza hit the top 10, in spite of solid gold BANGERS like "Only You" from the Sugababes and "Better" by actual Eurovision winner Lena with Nico Santos among many others, but still we persevere with the underappreciated and heavily slept on German music scene.
Today the SNÁ and ÁSC say "Mehr Davon!!" and have confirmed that the country will enter it's 4th German language track of the decade and 5th German entry of the decade. A former entrant, who in the eyes of the SNÁ and ÁSC did not place as highly as was deserved, has been selected to be the nations entry on home turf.
Our sources indicate that the artist, who has been revealed to the domestic audience along with the chosen song, beat out strong competition from Áskorzjan royalty and another German language track which we can exclusively reveal below.
[AshtonTimes]
Geil Kinda reminds me of Cassandra Steen - Stadt, minus the big chorus.
Mehr Davon in the 100 Acre Woods
Lotte returns for République d'Áskorza with the fantastic punchy Mehr Davon! Lotte will compete in SF1 of the Federally hosted semi-finals.
This sort of reminds me of a female (German) Macklemore song. It's very infectious, I heard it on a compilation a couple of months ago but hearing it again here has definitely helped it click, will check out her other stuff.
Numa Numa Looo-oooo-oooooh-oooh-oooove
Still committed to Deutschland, République d’Áskorza has entered German Leony with her new track „Faded Love“.
And yes. It samples Dragostea Din Tei which you can relive below for fun and then you can vote Rép d‘Ákz in SF2
Greetings République d'Áskorza (though I still just want to address you as Ashton, given it’s the name of a suburb of Bristol close to me and the partial name of Bristol City”s stadium! )
I had come across your entry in January...
No we never never never not try
Fresh from victory in Deutschland Sucht den Superstar (German Pop Idol) Jan-Marten is tackling a more daunting competition in the form of the 134th Buzzjack Song Contest in Mosquetania. "Never Not Try" is his winners single from DSDS and it is, in our humble opinion, the best reality tv winners single since Sound of the Underground.
You can check it out above and vote for Jan-Marten and République d'Áskorza in SF2.
And for added fun, here is Jan-Marten's winners performance from a slightly pared back DSDS final event (Cheers for that Corona!)
Youse we’re warned
Apache 207 with Roller is the 135th entry for République d’Áskorza in the buzzjack Song Contest. We love it and hope you do too!
Oh I am familiar with this one! It must be on a Bravo Hits compilaition I have, it's certainly catchy for its genre.
I hope you follow through with that schlager-rap entry at some point *.*
Yeah I’d be shocked if it wasn’t on a Bravo Hits, was a huge hit here!
But I think I will defo follow this up with the Schlager-rap. Not sure if I’ll send the first one or it’s follow up yet but will see how I feel when confirmations open (or what I do in June 👀)
This izza bop!!!
BJSC So White strikes again
In a complete non-shock, German language HipHop/Rap failed to qualify from SF2. Which is a shame because Roller is an absolute banger.
Oh well. Schlager/Rap entirely auf Deutsch natürlich is next. Y'all were warned.
Robbed.
Luca returns for BJFest!

Finalists!!!!
4th in Morpeth!
In spite of inexplicably nearly going out in the Heats, Luca fought on to take a fantastic 4th place in Morpeth Cove! The result equals our best ever result in BJFestivalen.
Thanks to everyone who supported Luca throughout!
You shot me so damn well
After an inexcusably long absence, République d'Áskorza has returned to Romania for their 136th entry to the Buzzjack Song Contest. Rampampam by Minelli is up in Heat H/1.
Enjoy, i know we sure are!
And as a special bonus, here is the version of the track with a French Chorus!
You shot me so damn well we came 5th
Minelli has returned République d’Áskorza to the top 5 with Rampampam! Our first top 5 finish since BJSC CII in Morpeth Cove where the brilliant Wunderwelt finished 4th in front of a home crowd. The ÁSC and SNÁ are overjoyed at the performance of Minelli and thank all who graciously supported Rd‘Á in this months contest. We are glad that you made an enjoyable discovery.
We are looking forward to presenting our 137th entry in due course but in the meantime will be enjoying back-to-back top 5 finishes in BJFest VI and BJSC CXXXVI
Congrats on a top five finish! This is an insanely catchy song, it strikes me as the sort of thing that could become a rare crossover Eurodance hit given half a chance on radio, or TikTok virality.
Our 137th entry is inTÓXICAting
Repping République d'Áskorza in the 137th BJSC is Sofía Martín and le Shuuk! With a fabulous wee number called Tóxica! This spanish language bop is the first time we have used Spanish since Alvaro Soler won in the 101st BJSC for Rd'Á and only our second spanish entry in total! Signed to VIZE's label, Sofia met German DJ le Shuuk at VIZE's studio in Berlin where they hit it off and came out with a fantastic collaboration. Sofia is Spanish/English and we're hoping that our combination of Germany and Spain in Spanish can bring home the goods for a second time.
Will lightening strike twice in the nation of clouds?
robbed </3
rep d’askorza dance/EDM entries are just another breed
Thanks Cody!! Glad you enjoyed it!
I agree, we were robbed blind this month 😔
Don’t come crawling when this turns out to be this years big eurodance hit
République d'Áskorza at 150
In celebration of 150 contests of République d'Ashton/Áskorza, we have made a playlist featuring some of our highlights from the past 15 (!!) years of BJSC entries. Spanning the full length from Push The Button to Ich Hass Dich, this is a tour of the tracks that shaped our nation. We hope you enjoy!
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcC_tpug_FPL30OEzsx4RdNP6pVVDy2Rj
Neea goes All The Way to the Final!
All The Way is a sublime slice of 80s inspired Finnish Retropop, taking after our previous entry Kateus but this time sung entirely in English! We hope Neea can go all the way to the top of the leaderboard in BJSC 152!
First top 10 in nearly 2 years 🥹
Will update OP soon but thnx everyone who loved Chinchilla!! So happy y’all liked it!
Molly Sandén returns for République d‘Áskorza
The nations beloved first winner, Molly Sandén, has returned to BJSC for the fourth time in the main contest (sixth overall) with her incredible track „Vi ska aldrig gĺ hem“ (We’re never going home). With a sound that reminds you of Robyn, Molly has created a sublime track dedicated to that feeling of a night you never want to end
We’re in SF1 and would love your support
I need to update this badly
But after 6 years we won again!!!
Enjoy our winning entry Undecided!
We cannot wait to welcome you back to Morpeth Cove again
congrats on the win, you ate with this, such a bop! gone straight onto my playlist, im obsessedd!
It’s been almost a fortnight and I’ve still not actually fully processed this
Like Undecided just came on shuffle between Come Over by Dagny and what would have been my entry to 165 except that Botanikka has chosen war and committed a war crime by kidnapping our national hero against her will (not too late to find a non-war crime alternative Addy!). And I just didn’t have it pegged at all as a winner. Or tbh anything more than like 24th
