37 91 209 HAIM - Don't Save Me
36 20 211 Miley Cyrus - We Can't Stop

A lot has changed this year with quite a few titles sliding down the chart from last year's AQ positions - firstly Tom O'Dull Odell who bombs 25-69 although if anything I'm more surprised he managed to get that high last year. Sadly also falling out of favour are Calvin's 'I Need Your Love' plus two drum n' bass tracks of the time 'Lost & Not Found' and 'Afterglow', the latter sliding out 16-53 - it's not the only casualty from a semi-final position as Miley Cyrus is also down 20-36, missing out on an AQ by a single point. Also out this year are Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Selena Gomez, Imagine Dragons, Foxes and Mariah Carey, you'll all have to remember to nominate those again next year. Meanwhile there's a very impressive climb for HAIM with 'Don't Save Me' leaping 91-37 perhaps helped by the release of a new album this year. Likewise with London Grammar returning with a new song this week they are up 80-50 with their debut 'Wasting My Young Years'. It's also pleasing to see Le Youth and Chris Malinchak climbing ten places each, although both are still well outside the top 40. From those that weren't nominated last year Lana Del Rey and Mutya Keisha Siobhan impressively come close to AQing (particularly for the latter given it wasn't much of a hit), although there are two such songs yet to appear.

Next Year's AQs... but not progressing any further tongue.gif

35 ** 212 P!nk (feat. Nate Ruess) - Just Give Me A Reason
34 08 212 Avicii vs Nicky Romero - I Could Be The One
33 74 213 Jessie Ware - Imagine It Was Us
32 ** 214 Arctic Monkeys - Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High
31 27 223 Clean Bandit - Mozart's House
30 79 226 John Newman - Love Me Again
29 23 227 Britney Spears - Work Bitch
28 48 228 Lily Allen - Hard Out Here
27 18 228 HAIM - The Wire
26 39 229 Lorde - Royals
25 15 243 Klangkarussell (feat. Will Heard) - Sonnentanz (Sun Don't Shine)
24 47 252 London Grammar - Strong
23 17 253 Lady Gaga - Do What U Want
22 59 257 OneRepublic - Counting Stars
21 19 258 Martin Garrix - Animals

Sadly 'I Could Be The One' seems to have lost a fair few supporters this year but it thankfully just about hangs on to an AQ slot and thus freeing up one of my nominations next year. It ties with P!nk whose 'Just Give Me A Reason' was somehow forgotten about last year. Maybe if Michael had actually voted this time, it wouldn't be in this position. kink.gif The highest title not nominated last year however goes to Arctic Monkeys who now join 'Do I Wanna Know' in the AQ zone with their follow-up hit. A lot of big leaps from nominations to AQs this year starting with Jessie Ware who has the only "non-hit" of this section. It also seems that Buzzjack are loving Sir Sir John Newman again, perhaps James Newman nearly representing us at Eurovision inspired people to listen to John instead. The momentum for London Grammar not only helps 'Wasting' but also puts 'Strong' in the AQ zone. Despite Lorde remaining on hiatus she's seen a boost this year too with 'Royals' up 39-26, and also climbing in are Lily Allen and OneRepublic. A mixed bag of replacements really, and I could certainly do without OneRepublic and P!nk.

Semi-Finalists dance.gif

20 52 267 Lady Gaga - Applause
19 12 271 1975 - Chocolate
18 29 275 Arcade Fire - Reflektor
17 22 276 Duke Dumont (feat. A*M*E) - Need U (100%)
16 14 278 Zedd (feat. Foxes) - Clarity
15 51 286 Drake (feat. Majid Jordan) - Hold On, We're Going Home
14 24 293 Avicii (feat. Aloe Blacc) - Wake Me Up
13 09 322 Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble
12 35 322 Lorde - Tennis Court
11 21 336 Icona Pop (feat. Charli XCX) - I Love It
10 04 339 Paramore - Still Into You
09 02 352 CHVRCHES - The Mother We Share
08 10 354 Justin Timberlake - Mirrors
07 11 361 HAIM - Falling
06 03 364 Little Mix - Move

We swap one Lady Gaga song for another with 'Applause' leaping 52-20 to overtake 'Do What U Want', and even pre-controversy I always preferred this one so that's good with me. Likewise Avicii is here with 'Wake Me Up' to make up for the loss of 'I Could Be The One' which is great to see. In other dance songs news, we lose 'Animals' and 'Sonnentanz' from the semis for 'Need U (100%)' and 'I Love It', whilst 'Clarity' remains just about where it was. Two "non-hits" also climb in to get a second chance this year in 'Reflektor' and 'Tennis Court', I'm not really a fan of either but it is good to see a few 'surprise' semi-finalists. Speaking of surprises, Buzzjack hate magnet Drake also gets a huge boost with what is admittedly one of his more pop-friendly songs in 'Hold On' which is pleasing to see. It continues to be all change near the top with three of last year's auto finalists dropping out (and CHVRCHES were even looking like dropping out of the top 20 until the final batch of votes)...

Direkt Till Finalen yahoo.gif

05 06 398 Disclosure (feat. AlunaGeorge) - White Noise
04 07 417 Lana Del Rey vs Cedric Gervais - Summertime Sadness
03 05 421 Bastille - Pompeii
02 13 440 Daft Punk (feat. Pharrell) - Get Lucky
01 01 472 Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know?

However we get three amazing replacements in 'White Noise', 'Summertime Sadness' and 'Get Lucky'. Literally 3 for 3 and with the best two of last year's top five remaining in. It means this is the 2nd year in which Lana has gained an auto finalist - the first being 'Video Games'. Bastille remain in and rise to third with with it being no change at the top this year for Arctic Monkeys.

REFLEKTOR in the semi final???!!! I never thought I'd utter those words, slay cheeseblock.png

Great to see Daft Punk do much better, though shame about the drop for CHVRCHES. This is still easily my favourite year yet, these votes were so tough.

A good year for Lorde, we like to see it *.* (surprising to see 'Tennis Court' so far above 'Royals' but both moving up a tier yay). Great to see London Grammar and OneRepublic gaining AQs too. Shame about CHVRCHES dropping out of the top 5 and Chase And Status plummeting out of the AQ zone though.

Ben Pearce up 4! If I keep nominating him he might become an AQ in... 2029. 'Booyah' is too low. 'Afterglow' plummeting is completely wrong and I can only presume half of its votes somehow got subsumed by Becky Hill's album. Wow what happened to 'I Could Be The One' ohmy.gif and I barely know of that Jessie Ware song, surprised it's so popular. Great climb for 'Tennis Court'!

Oh no I liked all these songs. Especially that Fall Out Boy song which was different to anything else in the charts at the time. I should have voted in this.

I usually don't like acoustic singer songwriter songs but Another Love I liked, yes the start of it is a bit boring but once it starts building up it is great I think.
