It's hilarious how awkward they all are, Una speaks so much crap.
9:30 IS ANYBODY HAVING REALLY LOUD SEX (OMG!!!!)
Apparently Xenomania have lots of unheard Sats materials.
I hope some will leak eventually. Maybe in 2060, but I'll be waiting till then.

Watching Ghost Hunting w/ The Sats again in celebration of it being October now. Living for Mollie's meltdown "please don't say that!!"
What About Us is 59p on iTunes this week.
Remember to vote in AFSC what closes tonight x
Smart move to reduce and capitalise on Mollie being in the public eye
Mollie and Vanessa are like opposites, I'm sure Vanessa said she believed in something after she saw a fortune teller on Sats 24/7. Poor Mollie
I always found Anywhere With You a highlight of Living For The Weekend, which a lot of people didn't agree with (reject Katy Perry demo my a***). Almost on a million streams on Spotify, far ahead of other album tracks! Winning! #TasteAlwaysWins.
I was looking into the Little Mix forum and seeing the impact 'Black Magic' had on being the lead single and how it helped Little Mix get over a rather disappointing era in Salute and it made me think how huge 'Wordshaker' could have been had 'Ego' been the lead single and not 'Forever Is Over' followed by 'One Shot' and 'Here Standing'.
Then, imagine had 'Higher' been the lead single from 'Headlines', I honestly feel like this could have been a SMASH around Europe and that's not me just being deluded, I honestly think if the label had more faith in them at the start of the 'Headlines' era then they could have pushed 'Higher' around Europe. I remember they had meetings in Germany and they were going to release 'Higher' but moved onto 'Notorious' instead what got no promotion worldwide although it's opening sales is actually incredible omg.
The more I look into 'Living For The Weekend', it never really had a big budget, did it? I feel like for working with E the budget would have been bigger and maybe that's why they got 'Lease Your Love' which was refused by almost everyone. 'What About Us' not being promoted around Europe / Australia was also a huge, huge, huge mistake. It got to #44 in Germany without ANY promotion and #27 in New Zealand.
The release of 'Not Giving Up' killed them as they managed to recover from 'Gentleman' a little bit by 'Disco Love' going top five.
Forever Is Over should not have been the single the album was released off. For a single that hit number two and is nearly certified single, I can only fault it for where it came in the release pattern. FIO -> Ego -> Album release -> Wordshaker/One Shot/Denial/other, in whichever combination for post-album.
Una has shared that the girls have discussed the possibility of a reunion and will most likely come back together in "two years." She said a few of the girls are very keen on it, herself included. You know Vanessa is not one of them.
i could see a JLS/Saturdays reunion tour in the future actually.
But yeah Nessa can jog on, Rochelle can do all her parts and actually hit the notes
I think it'll be more of a case that Vanessa will realise she needs the group and come back round to the topic of a reunion.
But that Ego note can only be sung by Vanessa tho
I love the bitter fans here, I missed you guys.
Sidenote, Promise Me has actually finally hit me lmao wtf
Faster deserved better
Who you calling Bitter???
I used to dislike both Promise Me and Faster but they worked their way into my ratings overtime
One of my favorite Sats moments from 2:40-2:55. Mollie 'accidentally' exposing Rochelle.
When was that? Looks around the time of On Your Radar. Must have missed it but as if any of them get ready THAT quickly!
I can't cope.
Mollie and Una are tragic
Wild Bobchelle appeared! You’re supposed to warn us!
So mimed in places but Vanessa at the beginning was amazing!

This ustream killed me.
Rochelle ringing Flo rida and then realising he was in jail, then accidentally giving out Chipmunk’s number to everybody (Old school pre vanilla media trained Roch was the best ) Frankie admitting to wearing no knickers. Una cursing
Mini Sats reunion AKA my three favorites AKA the future Sats lineup.

Bless Una for still calling it a hiatus.
Walked into a department store here in Michigan yesterday and For Myself was playing
Their Live Lounge cover of Winter Wonderland is on the new album The Sound of Christmas-Live and exclusive at the BBC.
I'm rewatching Chasing The Saturdays this weekend and forgot how many great moments there are. Recording Not Giving Up, Mollie's awkward date with Calvin, the LA County Fair and Vanessa eating fried butter, random cameo from The Wanted. The banter between Mollie and Vanessa/Frankie/Rochelle is everything. Ben and his injury got so much attention though

The Saturdays are the 72nd most played ever on BBC Radio 1.
Top 10 most played
01. What about us
02. Up
03. Disco love
04. Ego
05. Missing you
06. All fired up
07. Issues
08. Notorious
09. My heart takes over
10. Forever is over
Surely a mistake as higher would be top 10???
Higher was their most played song on radio 1 last year with 8 plays followed by UP with 7
Remember The Saturdays had to pull out of supporting Justin Bieber in America due to Rochelle being pregnant
Not sure where that list was pulled from but maybe Higher is registered under "The Saturdays & Flo Rida" and not under The Saturdays.
Una on Instagram recently has been showing Ben what an idiot he was.
Just thinking about how close the girls got to breaking through outside the UK and wondering what could've been had they not gotten baby fever. What About Us was gaining traction in Germany and did decently well in New Zealand, they were doing that France promo, WAU almost broke the Top 100 on US iTunes...and then it all came to a screeching halt. They were fortunate to get spots on shows like Jimmy Kimmel (how they pulled that off I'm not sure) so I don't know what it was that truly ended their international efforts. Did the song underperform in other markets considering the amount of promo so they decided to pull the plug? Or was it really due to Rochelle's pregnancy?
On a somewhat related note, even Disco Love saw some international success that showed its potential. It charted in the most countries only behind WAU. Getting that Hungarian smash.
What About us got serviced to radio too late. I remember they were #101 on USA iTunes before their today performance and their performance got interrupted with a Obama message, legit typical.
They were also going to support Justin bieber in America but couldn’t due to Rochelle, that legit would have been so big for their status and following and they probably would have lasted a bit longer and got better material in the future and a much bigger following
I had a dream last night they had a cute bop comeback but it flopped.
I’m another one who had a dream about them recently. I dreamt it was me planning their reunion (without Vanessa apparently) 😂
Speaking of "without Vanessa"
Oh god
They look great. It seems to be impossible for all five of them to be together at once.
Mollies episode on The Cube is on Challenge! The girls are all there, making me wish they were back together again!!
The girls' joint company, Day and Night Ventures Ltd, was dissolved in July. Odd that they've waited this long.
They were probably hoping one of them would be on another reality show for the ££££
Tbf the girls haven’t been together proper for yearss
As a five piece I very much agree it always seem to be threes or fours
Chasing Lights rate going on now!

Closing next weekend!
Vote for Notorious in the AF Idol please!!!!
Not Good Enough came on a pop playlist radio on Spotify and I was thinking how great it sounds. Such an underrated song.
It is underrated indeed!
Remember The Saturdays were working with Demi Lovato in the studio
Remember The Saturdays were due to support Bieber on his USA tour
Thank you Rochelle x
Honestly Rochelle's uterus saved them from the utter embarassment of potentially scoring a very minor hit in the US (like #80) before flopping into oblivion with Gentleman
a billboard hit is better than none?
I'd rather have no hit than to be known as the people that released Gebtleman
Think I’d have preferred WAU to chart in the US!
Y the gentleman h8 tho x
Rugby star Ben Foden marries his girlfriend after two weeks of dating
Gahhhh
Mollie dislikes Forever Is Over!
I can't stand Matt Edmondson. Trust him to have horrific taste in Saturdays songs.
My top 3 would’ve probably been
1. Higher (without Flo Rida)
2. Up
3. Issues
It shouldn't be top 3 but Forever Is Over is a bop so no shade pls x
1. Ego
2. Higher
3. All Fired Up
Well even Rochelle has said "Never say never!!" Especially seeing the JLS comeback.
TRIGGERED!!!
Ina Wroldsen in an interview:
Least favourite track you have wrote?
I’ve done so many songs I don’t think have aged well! One I always think of is Higher by The Saturdays. The opening lyric - “I’m doing nothing, ‘cause then at least I’m doing nothing wrong” - makes no sense and the song is just like, what? It’s fun to listen to the old stuff and see the progression. I miss some of the naivety I used to have.
Ina, girl!
Ew

They’ve updated their twitter profile and pic
They’ve updated their Instagram profile and pic
They’ve updated their Facebook
They’ve updated their website and got it back up and running again
They’re trending on twitter
I will be so happy if they come back together next year, with Chasing Lights / Headlines level of quality music though!
I’m ready for it. The world is ready. Frankie, Mollie and Una are ready.
I want the saturdays artist page back.
Rochelle was just drunk from her Instagram live.
It is probs their old management doing this to try and get WAU to platinum.
#bringbacktheSatsforum
BBC Radio 2 we’re talking about it today also saying they could reunite next year lmao
Where is all this coming from but I’m here for it
Also no one talked about Up going Gold! FINALLY! But it was much faster to get there than the other songs that just got given Gold. I NEED THIS TO HAPPEN, but I feel like the updates are due to the What About Us remix trending on Tik Tok.
No Aaron done a what about us yesterday once they were trending
Ahh there you go then. Hopeful?
PLEASE!!!!! I’ve wanted them to reunite since the day they split!
Come on What About Us pt 2.
Would love them to reunite but fully expecting any reunion to be a get together/tour rather than new music
Even if they released new music, can’t see it doing well (sadly)
Teasing us tbh
Frankie not including ego , not giving up, what are you waiting for and disco love
Or all fired up
:Frankie;
Frankie was popping a baby out during Disco Love, she probably forgets it exists.
She spoke about Disco Love on Scott Mills’ show on 5 Live a couple of weeks ago and how she had to be stuck in the campervan She initially confused it with 30 Days which she said she didn’t like
'Disco Love' is overrated.
even if there are no immediate plans, i think it's encouraging that they were trending + there was some buzz around the idea!
Their manager Peter liked a comment on their Instagram saying how there is a demand for them to return. He knows they can make some pennies.
Una's playlist is just going to be Gentleman on repeat... I remember her saying it was their best single lmao oh Una
Really enjoying the B-Sides being on Spotify!
OMG... was just listening to Flashback then Don't Let Me Dance Alone came on afterwards and I bout popgasmed.
The single of 'If This Is Love' has just been (re?)uploaded to Spotify:
Underrated bop.
Omg I can't believe they're doing this *.* If This is Love is one of there best, justice for it!
Yeh I don't know why so many people don't like it, okay it's rather non-sensical (not a real word, I am aware), but it's a bop and it was one of the songs that made me fall in love with them.
Why is 'Lease My Love' in the NZ iTunes chart? Random!
omg imagine if this led up to a reunion announcement! As the tweet says it’s the first in a series.. can’t wait to see what new mixes we will get!
Vanessa’s playlist including her original but also one of their best songs Unofficial
How this ended up being JUST A B SIDE. It’s better than most of their album tracks. ‘I could go on and on with reason I should stay, I could go on and on with reason I should go away ‘ is iconic.
Bring them back, I’ve had 2 bottles of wine and I miss them.
All fired up still remains fresh as f***.
Think this could be my favourite from The Saturdays! I think it was the first song I heard from them. Strong memories of the video with the coloured tights!
The new mixes sound great!
these are great really loving them
Woah! That Sticky Club Remix is quite something!
I'm assuming these single rereleases are in attempt to push for few more Certs.
I should imagine What About Us is on the cusp on Platinum, If This Is Love and Work could be close to Silver, next for Gold would be Just Can't Get Enough, unless Issues overtook, it picked up quite a lot of sales when Julia Michael's song was in the charts. Who knows, would be interesting to have an update.
The sticky remix is my favourite!
Chasing Lights is £3.99 on iTunes!
Thanks Liam
So Higher might get platinum as well in a few years with how much it's streamed. Honestly I can't see any more certifications for a while though Maybe one of Work/If This is Love could go silver but they don't do great on streaming so I can't see where that 50k is gonna come from. Same for JCGE/Issues going gold as well.
The UP album is almost top 200 on German iTunes!
Smashing it in Hungary!
Hungary iTunes Albums:
2. Up
3. Chasing Lights
4. Wordshaker
Thanks for the update! I was curious.
I'm convinced if they decided to wait a couple more months, released Wordshaker off the back of Ego and managed to record a couple of the Headlines! tracks replaced the couple of duds, pushed One Shot as a single, then re-released the album as a Deluxe version in the Summer (Maybe with Higher as the re-release single)... they would have 2 Platinum albums. 'On Your Radar' being released in December was also a choice.
I agree, they have so many missed single opportunities it's crazy.
Wordshaker: Lose Control, One Shot
On Your Radar: Faster, Get Ready Get Set, Last Call
LFTW: Leave A Light On
GH: 808
I know they weren't huge touring artists or album sellers, but they sold quite well for singles and should've pushed for more.
They actually had an X Factor slot for My Heart Takes Over but they were replaced with a pre-recorded Justin Bieber performance. They were then demoted to Xtra Factor but cancelled it. It would have made On Your Radar a much bigger success and I guess we would have got another single which probably would have been The Way You Watch Me but Faster / Do What You Want With Me could have been big selling singles, especially the latter.
I think by the time The Saturdays arrived, televised promotion was becoming much bigger with the likes of X Factor and BGT etc. The Saturdays' way of promoting on lots of daytime/weekend chart-based TV programmes was a method that worked wonders for Girls Aloud and Sugababes throughout the Noughties but it was becoming more outdated at the turn of the 2010s.
I also think The Saturdays were viewed as a Girls Aloud stand-in whilst they were on hiatus, so the public were here for their singles but weren't invested enough to properly buy into their albums. Also, I think Girls Aloud were pretty well-liked by critics as far as pop bands go, which I don't think The Saturdays had, which may have affected their sales.
This isn't a slight on the girls btw, I love their music and they worked extremely hard. I just think they had a fair bit stacked against them.
Their single sales are pretty impressive to be honest, over 4 million singles, all in all they have probably sold about 5 million records which, considering they were very much UK based and never really hit the big time, isn't bad at all.
Another favourite that packs a lot of nostalgic value. I remember listening to this following a year 7 relationship break up!
The what about us performance legit didn’t even put it back top 200 on iTunes!
I think they performed what about us because frankie had returned from pregnancy and their strictly performance was very last minute, I believe Robbie pulled out?
I know people usually grown at pop bands covering 80s classics but I love this cover! The radio mix is better than the video mix, but the video itself is great - so fun and cheeky!
JCGE might be their worst single for me oops, I love cheese but it’s just too much
We'll get Work next week then. I hope it manages to pick up a few sales.
JCGE is my least fave of their whole discography. Hasn’t dated well for me
OKAY but I'm having a blood orange gin in the sun and I'm enjoying it far too much!
#JusticeForWork next week! We should start a campaign to get it into the iTunes charts.
Just Can’t Get Enough is an absolute bop, if y’all can tell me a better comic relief / sports relief song I’ll argue against it.
Also Rachel Stevens - Some Girls is better than a lot of Saturdays singles, let alone Just Can't Get Enough!
I always found it a bit unusual that they used a different mix for the Just Can't Get Enough music video than what was played on the radio and ultimately what they included on Chasing Lights. What was the rationale? The Radio Mix is definitely superior!
Remixes missing from these digital reissues so far:
If This Is Love (Moto Blanco Dub) [7:47]
Up (Wideboys Dub) [6:01]
Up (Sticky Dub) [5:20]
Up (Hypersonic Mix) [3:20]
Issues (Digital Dog Dub) [6:52]
Just Can't Get Enough (Wideboys Radio Edit) [3:25]
They could have thrown Instrumentals on too!
I appreciate the effort though, it's going to look so neat once they've finished reissuing them all I'm sure I've said this before but I would love for Girls Aloud to get the same treatment.
No jay baby no
Uptown Girl is a bop
Spirit in the Sky is also a guilty pleasure.
This was another favourite of mine at the time! All the singles from this era were great tbh. A shame it couldn't go Top 20 for them but I guess it did alright for a fifth single?
Complete and utter BOP. It would've peaked at #17 if it wasn't for MJ's death as well which is fine for a 5th single in the download era I agree. Can we just relieve this as well:
I play this performance a lot
Vanessa is one of the favourites to take part in Strictly Come Dancing this year. Watch her get eliminated round 1’
Finally
Liking The Dealer remix of Forever is Over!
Didn't like this as much as their previous singles at the time, but it has similar nostalgic value and I do like it much more now.
Another case of B-side is better than single.
Wordshaker could have been made instantly better if they switched 'I Can't Wait' with... I dunno, probably 'No One'.
No One is quite forgettable tbh, not a song I think of really.
https://audioboom.com/posts/7606500-the-saturdays
Has anyone else listened to this? The guys of Right Back At Ya! (a podcast that celebrates 00's pop music and is honestly the funniest podcast I have ever listened it) have done an episode about The Saturdays. Such a nice trip down to memory lane! Made me re-discover some forgotten album tracks as well.
They have a new fan in New Zealand *.*
Get that NZ smash, girls!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jv4MYqzg-P4
There’s a lot of buzz around this in Ireland. Una about to get that first Irish number 1!
Another classic! I kinda forgot what a great run of singles they had. They were definitely flying the girlband flag high with Girls Aloud on hiatus and Sugababes on their way out.
Una #1 on Irish iTunes!
Their live performances truly became tragic during the promotion of Greatest Hits and What Are You Waiting For! You can tell they couldn’t really be arsed anymore.
I feel like this one is quite underrated / overlooked in favour of the full-on pop bangers. I really like it! It's a bit like a summery version of 'Issues'.
Just checked out the critical reception on Wiki - yikes, they were harsh!
Frankie was the lead singer, I'm not surprised
This is fine, it just doesn't quite go where I need it to. Towards the bottom of their singles discography ngl
The acoustic version is lush
I think Missing You gets a lot of hate because it missed #1 and was released instead of Higher. The amount of promotion Missing You got was the most I’ve ever seen an artist get but it mainly before it was released and it even got to 99.7% on Livepopbars before it started free falling and ended up debuting at #3. I still feel like Higher would have somehow been even bigger had it been released as the lead but in general Missing You was a good album seller and Headlines was a huge success.
Missing You is very overrated and when you hear it for the first time in a while it still sounds a bit fresh in comparison to their other singles!
They’re still managing 1.3m listeners a month on Spotify which is pretty good!
Issues has now managed to pass 10m streams and What About Us has now managed to pass 35m streams... almost 1m behind Higher
Current Top 10 atm
What about us
Higher
Ego
When love takes over (lol)
Issues
Disco Love
All fired up (FINALLY)
Greatest Hits Megamix
Just Can’t Get Enough

Missing You! (Would be nice if this can climb a bit too)
“I miss them all a lot,” she says. “I get very nostalgic especially at this time of year because it is now 13 years since we all first met and started as The Saturdays. I miss strutting around in heels on stage as well. I am still in touch all the time with all the girls so when the time is right, I wouldn’t rule out a reunion.”
Una giving us the closest hope yet.

I never knew there was a Notorious remix featuring Chipmunk until now.
Cheryl Hole is doing a podcast on The Sats and Mollie is a guest: https://ggg.worldofwonder.com/episodes/the-saturdays-with-riyadh-khalaf-and-mollie-king
Una has moved back to Ireland and has been teasing something exciting coming soon. I can see her releasing another album, focusing on the Irish market and continue an Irish television and radio career.
On a side note, I’m still confused why The Saturday’s artist page was taken away while there is still an artist page for Girls Aloud.
The Popjustice page is constantly active, The girls are fairly busy, The Saturday’s social media pages are still active and a reunion is still possible with 3/5 of them meeting recently.
LOL @ them talking about their schedule and not realising how busy they would be when they first started.
Their biggest tour was 14 dates in the UK, their promo was morning TV shows once every few months and their music videos were one day affairs in studios and on beaches.
Listening to the Cheryl Hole podcast now and isn’t it fab really bringing back loads of mems!
Una’s new single “Until You” is being premiered on RTE Radio 1 tomorrow morning

Una is #6 on Irish iTunes.
Their cover of Christmas Wrapping is #19 on Hungarian iTunes!!
Year round Sleighage.
@jaynecollinsmac “Like being in a time warp with these two lovely people. Lots of memories with @FrankieBridge , @MaxGeorge and I all working on the same project! @TheSaturdays @thewanted“
Hmm interesting. Frankie working with their old manager Jayne and Max from the Wanted on something...
Really weird she’s working with Jayne after everything that happened following Wordshaker
What even happened with Jayne?
I can't remember the name of their other manager (was it Peter?) he was awful... He legit just let them go on holiday and do the bare minimum 24/7

Very fittingly, 'What About Us' has just been certified Platinum!
Yay, it's about time! All the biggest girl groups of the past 25 years have at least one platinum single, so I'm glad The Saturdays have finally joined that league.
I guess it won't be too much longer until Higher becomes their second platinum single - maybe in a year? Other girl groups with two platinum singles: Sugababes, Girls Aloud, Atomic Kitten & All Saints.
Yeh, 'Higher' is getting more streams than What About Us so I would guess that it's on 540,000?
Mollie King has played The Saturdays 25 times on BBC Radio 1 this year.
They’ve been played 29 times in total throughout 2020, despite being inactive for 7 years.
Rochelle is interviewing Una on This Morning today!
God Rochelle just called Una’s new single “Until Now” and ignored Una when she corrected her. What a mess
Rochelle was so awkward to Una. You could see Una was like 'eh' the whole time. I've never liked Rochelle's presenter persona.
I love to see a Saturday on TV so much in 2020 but I don’t get how she’s so successful on The Hit List and especially if I catch This Morning while she’s on her presenting is so bland. Mollie is a better presenter, this made me scream the other day
Why was One Shot (esp the Starsmith remix) never released as a single? Rediscovered it recently and it's on constant replay *.*
All Fired Up was released 9 years ago on this date!
Also the What Are You Waiting For? re-issue was released today
When the B-Side is a cover and has 3x the streams of the single.
So it seems like it's their last week of reissues, HOWEVER let's dream that they decide to release 808 next week. It's actually Tik Tok ready.
'All Fired Up' entering their top 5 on Spotify feels correct.
Down with the 'When Love Takes Over' cover.
Una dating a Hollywood A Lister might just be the best story of 2020.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-8778403/Sam-Claflin-Una-Healy-messaging.html
Really random but just watching Aaron Renfree’s live and he just said that it was between What Are You Waiting For & 808 to be released as the last single and apparently the girls didn’t even know which song they were flying out to go record the video for. Madness. Justice for 808!
That is so THEM.
808 would have been a great last single. I loved What Are You Waiting For at the time as well!
Typical Sats wrong single choice. I really think they had the most missed opportunities of any girl group.
Chasing Lights
One Shot
Lose Control
Puppet
Get Ready, Get Set
Faster
White Lies
Last Call
808
I still get mad over the way the on the radar campaign was handled but at the same time the singles choices were perfect, I would have preferred faster over 30 days or do what you want with me but by going with 30 days it followed a #1 single!
808 would have been a perfect final single but I wonder how different the video would have been
I feel like they wanted 808 as the single but the record company got funding for the video etc from First Choice and realised the set would suit WAYWF more so went with it. I do like it but 808 would have smashed!
Yeh the missed singles ops were countless really... You missed 'Wildfire', 'Leave A Light On' and honestly I wouldn't have been mad with ''Wordshaker', Anywhere With You' or 'Here Standing'.
'Finest Selection' is now Gold! I'd love another of their albums to get there!
'Higher' is very much on the cusp of Platinum and I should imagine 'Issues' and 'Just Can't Get Enough' can't be far off Gold now.
How many sales is gold again, 100,000?
Pull through Higher!!
I wonder if higher could outsell What About Us? It’s always higher on streaming playlists
I meant for album!
With 'Mollie King' being in the spotlight today on Buzzjack, I thought I'd give you an approximate sales update for The Sats albums.
albums:
Chasing Lights (400,000)
Headlines! (290,000)
Finest Selection: Greatest Hits (100,000)
On Your Radar (93,000)
Wordshaker (91,000)
Living For The Weekend (50,000)
Headlines!, On Your Radar, Wordshaker and Living For The Weekend could all collect new certifications relatively soon.
Singles wise 'Higher' will be their next song to go Platinum and their cover of 'Just Can't Get Enough' and 'Issues' are next set to go Gold. In regards to singles going 'Silver', I'd say 'Work' could get there eventually, I predict it to be on around 160,000 sales right now, so it might take YEARS.
Chasing Lights was just below Chemistry by Girls Aloud in a 2019 OCC list of best selling girl band albums; Chemistry was on 395k that year so I don’t think Chasing Lights will have sold much more than its 2013 total of 385k.
Headlines was just below One Touch by Sugababes on the list. Last know total for One Touch was 220k in 2009 but I doubt it’s added that many sales to that total.
Greatest Hits Megamix is 133 on iTunes. Another campaign?
It got to number 93 I do believe.
Well... at least it did "something", I was going to help out but I already have Finest Selection downloaded.
Has there been any interviews where one of the girls has said the reason why the group never came back together? I have watched interviews from round about the greatest hits era circa 2014 and they always said a new album was on its way and they weren’t splitting, I’m quite curious to know what actually happened
Ahh that's a shame, it did look so good to see them all so close to certification, at this rate it seems like they won't see anything for YEARS to come then. At least it's still nice to see their singles getting there.
Rochelle is adding celebrity cook/author to her résumé!
Only just discovered ‘I Say Okay’ by them, it’s so good how did I miss it at the time.
No baby no
The On Your Radar album is so amazing though, I Say Ok and Promise Me are the only duds
All fired up is still timeless
I SAY OK IS A BANGER AND YOU WILL ALL DEAL!
TF IS WRONG WITH YOU ALL!?
I’ve always liked I Say OK.
I've been obsessed with The Saturdays again lately. Glad the topic is still alive. I've been eating "Ego" and the underrated "Not Giving Up" all day everyday.
I went through all their single videos on YouTube a couple weeks ago and watched some of their live performances. There really is quite a stark difference performance wise between their first & their final single, which is always good of course!
Ego is one of my favourites by them, never really clicked with Not Giving Up.
Ego is ironically one of their songs I skip regularly, and I'm normally a big fan of any other single/most album tracks.
I completely forgot about 'No One'... not terrible just a bit boring (similar to the majority of the second half of Living For The Weekend). Personally I kind of like 'Open Up' as cheesy as it is.
Open Up is one of my fav songs of theirs! ‘I tried but babe, I couldn’t get a taxi’’
White Lies and Last Call are still the most underrated songs on On Your Radar!!

The saturdays did some great tunes. I have all their albums and singles.
I’ve been binge-watching The Saturdays 24/7 on YouTube over the past few days and wow how I miss them. With this whole trend of groups reuniting and getting back together it’s high time they throw their hat back in the ring
Girlband reality TV was a real peak for the gays!
Excuse me!!
We are assuming it's coz she has no lines in that song coz otherwise...
Over 'Forever Is Over' and 'Gentleman'? Frankie... u ok!?
wasn’t that the single she missed promo for cause she was pregnant? probably doesn’t have any memories of it.. at least i hope that’s what it is.
If they were asking for "Fave songs to sing and perform live" or something I'd understand that logic. But you can surely enjoy a song even if you're not a part of it?
I was just going to post this! I think Frankie misspelt Gentleman 🤣🤣
Has there even been a pop group that HASN'T ever got back together? It seems like The Saturdays might be the only ones in history.
Girls Aloud, Spice Girls, Sugababes/MKS, JLS, Westlife, All Saints, Pussycat Dolls, Take That, Busted, S Club 7, Steps....
I know it's only been seven years but there isn't even a slight hint that it's even been a discussion for them.
I feel like Frankie didn’t actually like the music she was putting out with The Sats.
She’s never really been a pop music kinda girl has she?
I’m sure she loved performing them etc, but I can’t imagine her actively listening to them?!
It still upsets me that 808 was never single! It popped off on Tour!
I adored the final tour, It was genuinely one of the best concerts I’ve been too!
They gave it everything!
I love that she's shown love to What About Us
hahaha the Disco Love erasure is REAAL
She probably doesn't even have a hidden vocal on 'Disco Love' to be fair, so that's no surprise at all.
God 'LFTW' is truly slogging it's way to a certification isn't it. I can't believe with their biggest hit being on it that it and their last full album released during the streaming era that it hasn't even managed Silver.
Yeah I doubt it's at all close to going silver unfortunately. I'm not sure if we've had an official sales total since 2014, but in April 2014 it had only sold 25,000 (after 6 months on sale - and with the era being pretty much dead at that stage, I doubt it sold many more physicals/downloads). Another 35,000 sales is a huge mountain to climb.
Like tommie says, What About Us and Disco Love's streams are negatable due to being reduced to the average of the next 10 tracks on the album - and most of those songs are not doing great numbers on Spotify.
I wouldn't be too surprised if its weekly sales figure is only in the region of 20-30 sales, at a push.
> Watch it go silver next week now
~
Regarding On Your Radar, I'll always think it's a shame that it rather emphatically spoiled their streak of Top 10 albums. It's my favourite album of theirs!
#23 must have come as a huge shock to the label/the girls (it would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall when they found out that position ). The 5 individual member CD covers and the box set with DVD suggests that there was quite a lot of confidence that it would be a strong seller.
Looking back, its first week sales of 18,044 doesn't look too bad... but evidently not strong enough for a November release. #20 sold 20,314 and #10 sold 34,754. The Saturdays' previous highest first week sale was under 23,000... so that's another sign of over-confidence from the label, to have scheduled it late into Q4.
It seems like they must have had a huge amount of faith in My Heart Takes Over being a smash, but it was such a misfire (very ironic that it's ended up being one of their most streamed songs!).
If only the album had been ready to go straight after All Fired Up. I think a September release would have been considerably less risky. 2 weeks after All Fired Up, only 12,380 was needed to get to #10.
On Your Radar is one of my favourite girlband albums. Shame it wasn't as big at the time but still full of hits.
I was hoping at the time that they'd attempt a re-release with 'On Your Radar', tack a feature on 'White Lies' or 'Get Ready, Get Set' followed by '30 Days' and relaunch the album in attempt to get it into the Top 20. I feel it in my bones that 'White Lies' would have ended up one of their most successful singles.
'White Lies', 'Faster', 'Get Ready, Get Set' and 'Do What You Want With Me' would've been big/decent hits I think. MHTO bombing probably put them off 'Last Call' too which I think would have been a hit too...
Also, I still stand by 'My Heart Takes Over' as a single choice... I just think they shoulda pushed hard with more promo.
they should have released the remix of ‘my heart takes over’ that sounded like ‘don’t hold your breath’ as that was a stormer! i guess it went against the whole video concept they had though.
the remix video of the digital song has 1.3m views on youtube, i think thats there most for a remix
A song called 'Glitterball' is on Mollie's discography page for 2021.
Here for the White Lies love!! Always thought it should've been a single!!
I’ve been listening to Up a lot lately and my GOD what an absolute BANGER it is
Refusing to accept that's 13 years. Point blank refusing.
13 YEARS?! I think it's underrated, okay it doesn't make that much sense, but it's a bop.
Omg
13 years?? I dont like it
13 years! Wow. I remember getting the CD single for my birthday
lol old
13 years ago? Wow.
Living in Australia this totally passed me by it wasn’t until Up that I’d come to know who The Saturdays were.
I remember hearing it for the first time, my Father was driving me and my sister in an open top Jeep through the Suffolk countryside and it came on Radio 1 after an interview and for some reason I understood that the members were all of the girls from S Club 8.
I remember seeing the video for the first time on TV and I loved The Saturdays ever since 😂
Not a whole lot said about The Saturdays, but still nice to see her talk about her music career including S Club Juniors!
What is taking them so long to get back together?
Tv presenter Rochelle
Vanessa not liking or interacting with Frankie and Mollie on social media (and vice versa)
Una’s constant WhatsApp messages
That above video was just one section of the interview i think, they cut to a break at that point and said there would be more from Frankie afterwards, so presumably the bit after the break went over her time in The Saturdays in more detail.
I was watching it on my lunch break but had to attend a meeting for the final part
i’m not sure what Vanessa’s issues are now with the girls tbhb
In regards to The Sats, she spoke about how the girls didn't really know what was going on until the gig in Dublin where Mollie found her crying in bed with the curtains drawn and she also talked about getting admitted to a specialist hospital at the same time she was supposed to be doing the 'My Heart Takes Over' music video.
'Higher' is now PLATINUM!!
Yay finally for higher what’s next do we know?
Released 10 years ago this week ( ). For me this is a timeless bop, one of their very best
I loved it when it was released but it would be in my top 5 now, pods not too 10 either. It was a cracking song in 2011 though.
Honestly as much as these girls are the butt of jokes for their messy performances and lack of sales, it was REALLY brave for a girl group to make a dance album and release stuff like All Fired Up and Not Giving Up. Seriously. They absolutely nailed that sound and it's a shame it completely flopped for them.
i honestly think the saturdays are the most overrated group to those in the LGBT+ community.
AFU is an enduring classic. It sounds quite distinctly 2011 but somehow still fresh.
I was pleased to see it do so well for them at the time.
I actually wasn't huge on 'All Fired Up' at the time but it's massively grown on me over the years - I'd consider it one of their best now! Where has time gone
all fired up for me is my fav now
it's nowhere near as aged as the other tracks and would probably do well if released now.
missing you is my absolute fav from these girls & it makes me sad when people hate it! i thought it was quite unique at the time and frankies first verse was so good.
Ego was and still is by far my fave song from them, its one of their few songs that i have always enjoyed.
Yes, Ego is fantastic. Ego, Up and Higher are my top three.
I seem to be the only Notorious stan
I loved all of their singles except Forever is Over, Issues and Gentleman. So consistent with their releases.
Disco Love
So now The Wanted are back together too...
COME ON GIRLS.
rochelle, frankie + mollie have well-paid, much cushier gigs on tv + radio now. i can’t see it happening for a while
I'd personally love it to happen; more so in light of the sad news we've been dealt this week from the Girls Aloud camp.
Equally if they're not all in that place yet, there's no point forcing it. There's nothing worse than when bands come back and you can tell they're not really feeling it.
the saturdays weren’t really feeling it the first time around sooo
the energy the girls gave at the end of their time was horrific, no energy and cba
we need a saturdays singles rate
https://goss.ie/showbiz/una-healy-hotly-tipped-to-appear-on-major-reality-show-269375
Una would be great in the jungle/castle judging by their ghost hunting. I hope this happens!
I swear Una has been rumoured for years but I'd love her to do it this year.
EDIT - Yup.
https://www.thesun.ie/tvandshowbiz/5724727/maura-higgins-una-healy-itv-im-a-celebrity/
Pretty much the same article in 2020.
I'd love to see Una on there I feel like she'd be so good!
'Up' was justifiably though briefly in their top played on Spotify. I'm assuming the fact that the Album and Radio Edit streams are split has something to do with that. Still makes me chuckle how their cover of 'When Love Takes Over' remains so popular. Gross.
surprised just can’t get enough hasn’t passed 10m yet! only 500,000 away
It’s really sad to see that performance of WAYWF I actually went to see the Greatest Hits tour before they split and I feel like they really gave it everything.
Been visiting On Your Radar and Living For The Weekend (Since hearing No it just sounds like a Sats track) there’s so many bops which honestly would work even now.
It’s just a shame they never had an edge it was all very pose, hand movements and mime a lot of the time.
Will always be a Stan but you can see why popularity dwindled because at times it was cringe even as a bubblegum pop fan when they’d just stand there and awkwardly try to remember the minimal choreo (They loved to dramatically switch positions too)
i don’t actually think they get as much credit as they deserve, they did promo more than anyoneee. their choreography was just awful but they managed to main relevant for so long and they never ever got a big primetime tv slot. it’s sad they only managed graham norton once and never got bgt or x factor, especially the latter where they were dropped last minute and refused to go on xtra factor
The Saturdays were released at a time when it was fine to just pose and do hand movements. Little Mix are really the first proper all singing girl band (sorry PCD) to incorporate full choreography into their routines.
So is Una doing I'm A Celeb?
It seems frankie will be!
In an alternate universe 'I Can't Wait' is track 4 on 'Wordshaker' and 'No One' was the 'Forever Is Over' B-Side.
Such a quality mid-tempo.
Frankie is doing I'm A Celeb. I hope she'll be more interesting than Vanessa was.
She's favourite to win before launch night.
they still have 1.4m listeners on spotify They are still getting more listeners than JLS
Higher coming for 50m in the next couple of months which is insane.
wholesome to see all sats doing stories for frankie and commentating on her stuff minus vanessa
Has 'Chasing Lights' (The Album) been removed from anyone else's Spotify or is it only me?
I still see Chasing Lights on spotify, thats stange.
Vanessa was in the studio with Bimini the other day. Interesting combination!
I actually wonder how Vanessa makes money these days. All she seems to do is go out to restaurants
I wonder would the other girls reunite without Rochelle in the future. She seems set on not wanting to do it but I can see the others doing it.
I think Una even said she’d do something but doesn’t know if all of them would be apart of it.
Up has reached 429,000 in sales and was streamed 1.3 million times in 2021.
https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/forgotten-second-singles-did-these-follow-ups-deserve-better__35281/
Sad that it's such a slow burner now, it should be in their top 5 most played on Spotify. Pop cult classic.
Agreed, Up really is one of their best songs.
Not their cover of 'When Love Takes Over' becoming their 3rd most streamed on Spotify over 'Ego'.
Only them.
Why has this become popular all of a sudden?
It’s on a lot of work out playlists
I'm surprised to see Not Giving Up in their Popular Top 10 at #10! Plus there's a remix of What About Us at #9. I can't remember what they've replaced... Issues and Disco Love? Was Up in there at some point?
How has it almost been 8 years since they were active?
Come on Rochelle! Do it for the gays.
It's weird to think that they've been apart for longer than they were together. I'm struggling to imagine a reunion ever happening, as much as I'd love it to. They all seem so content with what they're up to nowadays, which is good for them of course.
Mollie Frankie and Una would do it I think
there would have to be some serious money in it for them + 3 of them have pretty cushty broadcasting gigs so it won’t happen. the cash is in touring + they didn’t do particularly well there so there’s no incentive for them to do it. as long as rochelle continues to get the big presenting gigs, we have no hope
Yeah there's literally no reason for them to reunite. They were a great band but they'd never be able to recreate the magic of their heyday so some things should just be left in the past where they belong.
I’d love them to come back with a dance feature, new album and tour...
In reality I went to the Greatest Hits last tour and it wasn’t exactly full (lots of the top rows were empty)
And didn’t they have a Groupon deal for half price in some locations?!
So I just can’t see it unless they need the money and do smaller tours?!
I mean I’m sure they could make money reuniting but not whilst they’re earning decent figures.
the saturdays walked so little mix could run
I doubt they'd ever come back for a whole tour given how unsuccessful their last two tours were but I would love to see 'One Night with The Saturdays' in London maybe - that could sell well given it's only one night and the right venue.
I think a performance ten years after splitting up or maybe for the 15th year anniversary after Chasing Lights was released (2023 Autumn) - that would be cute.
Notorious really hurt them and the On Your Radar campaign, Headlines tour sold out in minutes and probably could have been upgraded to an arena tour, Notorious even opened with great sales and then had a poor chart run as it wasn't really supported by radio.
Gentleman was the final nail in their 99 lives.
I’d love them to come back, they represent such a fun time in life for me to be honest but I don’t see it happening. I’m sure Frankie said recently she wouldn’t go back to singing.0
i remember how wild the forum was when they went to #1
In all honesty, All Fired Up if released today would still do well, TIMELESS CLASSIC. Those 16 writers knew what they were doing
it was a serve
the video is their best too and it's so simple
I absolutely loved The Saturdays and would love a comeback of some sort!
The Saturdays actually made so many poor choices...
Following What About Us with Gentlemen...
Wordshaker era was so bad (promo wise and the whole styling)
Headlines saved it luckily!
The campaigns really started to feel meh with Living For The Weekend (The cover was so bland and it was a bit of a mess)
It’s a shame as they had some iconic songs (I even loved half the dross) but I can see why sales dwindled with poor decision making / thought.
What about us was just the best feeling as a fan though! When that hit number 1 we all went wild!
I feel like Notorious did very well to debut at #8 with the OA/OS method, but this resulted in them struggling to find momentum for it in the following weeks! When the CD came out it only climbed back up to #21. Funnily enough it managed to climb to #18 a week after without the physical boost, so that suggested that they mistimed the CD release.
9 weeks inside the Top 40 is better than many of their singles achieved though, so that was a positive to take from how the release of Notorious was handled. Maybe if they'd done a traditional held back release it would have been more like 5 weeks Top 40, even if it's likely they'd have got a better peak position for it.

Up spending 19 weeks in the Top 40 was truly remarkable! All Fired Up deserved so much more.
Their label deciding to abandon the 'On Your Radar' album and not even try with a post-album single, that was a shame really. I don't actually mind '30 Days', but I'm not sure what the idea was behind them releasing a stand alone single like that (I know it was eventually included on 'Living for the Weekend'). It didn't really do much for them, and they could have spent that time trying to course-correct the album they'd only just released?
Their career was so messy!! With a few high points. I always felt like they were on the cusp of getting bigger, but it never really happened. 'What About Us' felt like things finally were coming together for them, so in typical Saturdays style they well and truly unravelled it with its follow up!
30 days was cute but when you had the likes of faster, get ready, get set and white lies just sitting on an album, it was crazy that they were passed up in favour of it. the album had done so poorly that the gp wouldn’t have known where the tracks had come from.
i’ll also die on the hill that wildfire was leaps + bounds ahead of gentleman in quality - that really should have been the a-side. it was so much more where the uk music scene was at that time. gentleman was very clearly meant for an american audience, the rap section listing off a list of largely american men, as if lamar odom and larry king were households names here?!
had they gone what about us > wildfire > disco love > not giving up i think a different story would have played out.
Wildfire is pop perfection
'Wildfire' would have been a better choice (I mean, anything would). I'd really love to see how it would have panned out if they followed up 'What About Us' with 'Not Giving Up' (knowing they had that the whole time, and 'Disco Love' didn't exist yet).
I can't imagine they'd have survived long into the streaming era anyway, but they could have easily have squeezed a few more hits and perhaps one more studio album out of their run had they not catastrophically f-ed up with 'Genntleman'.
Their taste was certainly questionable because they were all super excited and passionate about Gentleman. Although Una said years later that it became a least favourite for her because whenever they performed it they sensed tumbleweed from the crowd. I seem to remember they were apathetic about Not Giving Up and surprised that it was a fan favourite.
They really needed to follow up What About Us with a song that was somewhat similar. For some reason I’ve not given Wildfire much attention over the years, but I just listened to it and I agree that it had more potential than Gentleman! Trust them to make it the B Side to it
I also agree about the songs you mention from On Your Radar, Kye! I’ll always find it curious their label decided to launch a dance-pop heavy album with a ballad single. Their decision making was wild! I think the album really should have been ready to release directly after All Fired Up.
As much as I blame their label/management for their shocking decisions at times, I have to admit that looking back these girls just weren't good enough.
It wasn't until I saw other girl groups after them that I realised how lazy and sloppy The Sats were. Little Mix and Fifth Harmony blew them out of the water vocally and work ethic wise and even GRL were giving amazing performances on their first single release.
They definitely had bops and they looked SO GOOD together and yeah they had nice harmonies and some of them were decent singers but they had so many performances and chances to impress people and gain new fans on TV and they always sucked. Their performances of What About Us and All Fired Up were always atrocious.
They didn’t often get the opportunity to do major TV performances did they? I think their budget was a bit of an ongoing issue for them and may have held them back.
Their earliest performances included being a support act, lots of nightclub appearances & shopping centres, which was a fairly low level start, in terms of honing their performance skills. The regular GMTV & This Morning performances, with their basic set ups and camera work, always shone a spotlight on sloppy choreography. I feel like those sort of performances were always a bit phoned in because they didn’t allow for anything extravagant.
What I’m getting at is that if they’d had the chance to “level up” earlier on in their career, such as gaining experience with The X Factor appearances, then maybe they’d have honed their skills & generally been able to put on more of a show?
I think we saw occasional glimpses of what The Saturdays were capable of. Their “So You Think You Can Dance” performance of Notorious was good, I thought!
Towards the end of their run, they were totally going through the motions. I feel like I can sense their boredom when they performed What Are You Waiting For on This Morning
Little Mix had a very different journey from the very start, which I think put them in better stead to become a far more polished act. If you think about it, before they’d even released their first single they had a string of major performances under their belts thanks to The X Factor. They weren’t stuck in a perpetual cycle of This Morning performances.
Well honestly I remember their Greatest Hits medley on Tumble and that was a PERFECT opportunity to really let loose and sell some tickets for their tour and even though they had a HUGE empty space they just stood still for half of it and done some basic arm movements as usual. They had 5 big songs to showcase and they didn't even bother.
Their Paul O'Grady performance of Forever Is Over was traumatic, they performed Missing You on some big TV shows and it was dodgy miming and crap dancing and their Ant and Dec performance is only known for Mollie's bum note so they definitely had chances on bigger stages and never made a good impression.
Even in America when they launched on Jay Leno with a live band and vocals both Una and Vanessa were shocking at points and Rochelle completely changed the melody of the chorus.
The Sats had no budget though...
It was obvious they were clawing cash from all sorts of brand deals to keep them afloat.
I don’t doubt they made a lot of money but it was totally different back then labels focused on chart positions / every single needed to succeed with decentish sales...
I’m sure they would have looked / seemed more polished if they had more of a budget which included some clever choreo (They tried to stay with old school moves (Steps etc) but times were changing especially half way through the 6 year stint they had.
Considering Peter Loraine ran Bananarama's fan club at one point, I think he didn't properly push them to do more probably thinking that it would have that shambolic drunk-girls-on-a-night-out appeal that Bananarama had, except it just didn't work with The Saturdays and it just came off as shoddy and sloppy since they were put together by a (supposedly) professional management.
it’s also worth noting that they didn’t give themselves a lot of time to rehearse for their performances. those of us that followed them know that there was always something happening with them - biggest thing being the pregnancies, it was a miracle they managed to get anything done. plus, they always seemed to be on holiday
i always thought part of their charm was that they weren’t quite as polished but then when you see some of the bigger performances, i wished they’d put a bit more in it.
Their tumble performance was announced two days before so they wouldn’t have had much time
Now N-Dubz are even getting back together.
Today's date is 14 years since the release of their debut single 'If This Is Love'!
with the issues screen grab *.*
I was going to say that that’s not from the video…
Yeah for some reason the Issues video also has an If This Is Love picture lol, who knows why that mistake happened!
14 years! Can't believe that.
For all their ups and downs, I certainly didn't think they'd last anywhere near as long as they did when they started out.
The Sats to return please with All Fired Up part 2 x Jax Jones
I still miss them
I don't actually miss them... However, I do miss seeing them together. Not a massive fan of Rochelle's 'I hated being a popstar' stance. You can tell Una would give her left leg for a reunion.
Of course, if they did reunite, I would be there front row crying.
Mollie was presenting on This Morning today.
I heard from someone ITK today that The Saturdays considered reforming this year, but Rochelle wasn’t up for it.
Why does Rochelle wanna forget that she was ever in a girl group so bad
Oh Rochelle
I wonder if the other 4 would ever consider doing it without Rochelle? I know that wouldn't be ideal, and I'd totally respect it if all 5 of them are on the same page as each other that it's 5 or nothing. I'd certainly rather 5. However if 4 of them have reached the point that they'd really love to do it, maybe they should just go for it? Maybe if they told Rochelle they will do it, it could prompt Rochelle to have a change of heart if she experiences fear of missing out. The thing is, if she feels that her lack of involvement means that the others definitely won't go ahead, then she'll likely never feel motivated to do it, she'd be the one holding the cards. Unless she has a sudden change of heart of course... but she's been pretty persistent about having no interest in it.
It's so crazy that it's been 8 years since they were last active. It felt like there was a wave of interest in them again when all the singles were being reissued, I seem to remember there being some viral tweets. It would be a shame if they let opportunities pass them by. It would be so fun for them to revisit those times, I'd love to see them perform again.
I would love one final song from them
Mollie GETTING them that Radio 1 Plays
Frankie getting them those ITV promos
It would be such a shame for them never to reunite when they did so well in staying relevant for so long.
So many other girlbands came and went during there time and they were still charting when Little Mix were.
They could definitely release some of the albums on Vinyl at least I’m sure they would sell well.
just re release all fired up tbh, still sounds like a smash
Rerelease not giving up.
Not surprised she said no. Another reason why she has always been my least favourite.
Random but I always absolutely loved this performance!
I wish they had done more stuff like this.
I don’t get what she has to lose out on by doing it. I know she has a couple of shows but it’s not like she is a huge solo star, she can easily do a reunion alongside the tv shows she presents… Marvin did it why can’t she? Unless she just doesn’t want to perform anymore which is fair enough I guess.
I feel like Mollie is probably in the best position of them all right now, Rochelle is just a This Morning stand by isn’t she? You know, rochelle has been the only one that’s spoke publically about not wanting to return to The Saturdays! I hope they return for a top 10 iTunes smash and make a massive £20 while sellling their tour on itison and TRUST ME, i will BUY
I think, especially after listening to Rochelle's episode of Steven Bartlett's podcast recently (The Diary of a CEO), I've made peace with the fact that it's still not the time for her. She's not in that place in her life where she wants to revisit whilst she has her presenting / baby brand / the interior design thing she does on W at the moment (which just seems to be "Here, have a white and beige k!tchen with bifold doors and an island". I digress)
Which you can understand on one hand - let's not forget that her and Frankie were both in S Club Juniors and OK, there was a gap of about five years between their last single and The Saturdays' first. So they basically were in pop longer than any of the other girls in one form or another.
But that time will eventually come, and probably when we least expect it. I dare say Peter Loraine and Fascination, knowing how meticulously they've done other reunions in the past - Steps, Bananarama, All Saints - will ensure this is done serving everything we want!
Kind of LOVE that 'Last Call' is now in their top 10 most played on Spotify, what an absolute gem.
NGU has done well in YouTube views too over the years. Which is deserved. Need it to become a TikTok hit.
Last Call was always the best ballad on OYR. Should've been a post-album single and Where My Heart Takes Over should've been paid dust especially when gems like Faster and White Lies were sitting right there.
Can’t believe white lies didn’t get its moment! I’m not even particularly a Sats fan but I love the at track!
Last Call is great! Happy to see it get some attention. White Lies is another good one too. Whilst I like Where My Heart Takes Over there were better choices for single 3.
My Heart Takes Over was a brilliant choice of single it just didn’t perform as good as we all expected, I think the X Factor promo being cut last minute really affected the single and album performance. I’m guessing Faster would have been the logical third single tbf
My Heart Takes Over was a terrible single choice I think. I like the song a lot but its chart performance leaves a LOT to be desired and I think is largely responsible for On Your Radar's peak position. I adore Last Call and if they really wanted a ballad, it would've been the better option, though I think Faster is the biggest missed opportunity for a single release and I believe it would've been a top 10 hit at least. X Factor would've potentially helped it into the top 10 but I don't think MHTO was ever destined to be much of a hit sadly.
Need to disagree. I love Last Call but My Heart Takes Over is an amazing ballad. (Side eying those who are calling it Where My Heart Takes Over too lmao). On Your Radar really deserved a campaign as long as Chasing Lights. I would gladly have had them repackage it with 30 Days to bridge the wait until What About Us.
Also, did On Your Radar not sell like 18k first week? Which is very respectable. Also releasing it in Q4 didn’t help either.
I think My Heart Takes Over was a brilliant single choice and is one of threat only singles that I regularly listen to. X Factor being pulled significantly impacted on its success unfortunately.
I have such wonderful memories associated with the album release and it breaks my heart that it doesn’t have the peak it deserved.
Just to reiterate others, from a commerical point of view My Heart Takes Over ended up coming across as a bad choice for them. A pretty terrible singles chart performance (only four weeks in the Top 200 was quite shocking!) and On Your Radar missed the Top 20 off the back of it.
Even though its first week sales seem rather good (particularly compared to nowadays!) in the context of Q4 2011 they were a bit meh. Particularly considering they did multi formats (which still wasn't a very common thing to do in those days. Imagine if they'd only released a standard CD and Deluxe CD!). I think the label had a lot of confidence and high expectations in On Your Radar to justify doing the individual member artworks and a box set.
Maybe the proposed X Factor performance was the key that was needed for it to become a hit, but many other singles of theirs did a lot better despite not having major TV slots. Which really suggests that My Heart Takes Over didn't connect by their usual standards.
It was kind of an odd choice to release a predominantly pop-dance album off the back of a ballad. I think the album should have been released directly after All Fired Up. Then release Faster, which personally I believe would have been a strong enough choice to be able to do well as a post-album single! I feel like My Heart Takes Over might have been better served as an album track gem, with fans saying for 11 years how it should have been a single
'My Heart Takes Over' was, on paper at the time at least, the best to be the ballad single imo. It's one of the most bizarre flops I can think of. The song is strong. The video suited the time of year and I really think had it got that XF performance it was rumoured to get, it would've propelled it to being a decent sized hit. But without that type of promo, it bombed. Casual fans weren't interested for whatever reason and the non-fans they won over with 'All Fired Up' wouldn't be interested when all they would have wanted was another banger.
Would MHTO have sufficed better in late Winter (ala 'Issues')? After 'All Fired Up' they should've probably stuck with that sound and gone for something like 'Get Ready, Get Set' or 'Faster'. Just NOT 'The Way You Watch Me'! LMAO.
I think 'Last Call' is nice. But I think it'd have performed very similar to MHTO/not much better. Especially as I think, in hindsight, following up AFU with a big ballad was probably their mistake?
Lets be honest though...
NOT RELEASING 'WHITE LIES' AT ANY POINT WAS A HUGE MISFIRE.
Looking back objectively, On Your Radar should have been the killer double platinum campaign. It's still their most consistent album for me and the one I revisit the most. "Notorious" and "All Fired Up" were and still are that killer 1-2 punch of opening singles so that set it up perfectly.
But I think "My Heart Takes Over" was an ideal choice for third single - it was the right time of year for it, it had wider crossover appeal and the video was gorgeous, and I don't believe it deserved to foot all the blame for the album then not doing as well.
Those with short memories may forget but between "All Fired Up" charting and "My Heart Takes Over" being released, that was when Una announced she was pregnant with Aoife and when Frankie took her sabbatical, which as we now know was for her depression.
That did set off a chain of "Are they gonna split" type rumours which sad but true, was still happening as commonplace for a girl group back then, and which, on a wider public scale, did somewhat overshadow the fact a new single and album were imminent.
Also I remember seeing the girls during promo for "My Heart Takes Over" when they filmed a TV show - think it was The Album Chart Show special they did, I remember because Olly Murs and JLS filmed theirs that night too, and I was in the audience for all three. It was just the four of them cause of course this was when Frankie was still off of promo duties. They were juggling all that with the arena tour rehearsals - at some point something would have to sacrifice one thing over another.
I don't really remember The X Factor performance rumour. It's a shame if it's true that was on the table because it does bring up a "what could have been" style scenario. But on a positive at least the arena tour was everything they deserved and more. I saw the Wembley show and I was so proud of them when they did it, especially because exactly two years before I'd seen them at my students Union Christmas party (when someone bottled Mollie - how dare they?) so it was a bit of a YES moment for me. Like "Go on girls!"
I still say "30 Days" should have been tacked onto a deluxe reissue with the tour DVD. It had no place being on Living For The Weekend TBH.
I’m sure they were actually announced on the show the week prior to which they were to perform, weren’t they?
my heart takes over is nice but it’s not what the public wanted from them. it should have gone notorious into all fired up and faster lead the album.
i know they did the album chart show performance of ‘faster’ and it was starting to get played on radio but then it got pulled. i guess they thought with una being pregnant and what was happening with frankie, it would be easier to have a vanessa and rochelle led single.
I like a bit of 'My Heart Takes Over' but it was in no way strong enough to release an album off the back of, particularly in Q4. Very unfortunate what happened with the lined-up X-Factor performance though.
I remember at that exact same time both them and Pixie Lott released a single which drastically underperformed, taking their respective albums with it.
They're so lucky they weren't dropped at the start of 2012 when you think about it.
Still hoping for the All Fired Up Tour DVD 😂 (or for it to at least leak online)
Now is this time for them to return with Little Mix on a break.
I honestly think they’d get some hype with good promo and be able to sell tour tickets.
It would all need to handled properly though not a half assed attempt.
The limited support from Notorious was quite bizzare considering it’s amazing start, it really struggled on airplay didn’t it!
They'd be perfect for some Pride festival slots.
My Heart Takes Over is legit one of my favourite Saturdays singles!
Whilst I know I said it wasn’t the right choice for single three I do absolutely love My Heart Takes Over. I remember the first time I heard it. Listening to Radio One via a radio app on my phone.
YESSS WE BETTER KEEP STANNING MHTO!!
A bit late but just chiming in to say that the week they were 'rumored' to be on X-Factor performing was also the same week they were filmed meeting Little Mix for their VT. I don't think it's a coincedince that the producers bothered to send a camera crew to the rehearsals of The Saturdays for a 20 second clip if they weren't also performing that weekend.
i still can’t believe they never really got that big promotional slot, I mean they got Strictly but that had no affect what so ever back then
didn’t even realise Mollie is due to give birth this year!
I just still can't get over their B-sides...
'I Can't Wait' and 'Flashback' are better than half of 'Wordshaker', in fact they probably should have had 'No One' and either '2 am' as the B-sides.
Don't let's get started on 'Wildfire', it could have been their LM 'Touch' moment. HUGE hit potential.
I love 2am lmao.
The fact that Wildfire was given B-Side treatment over Gentleman absolutely baffles me. I still blame Una for hyping Gentleman up saying that it’s her favourite… Then hating it when the fans didn’t react well to it!
I love 2am as well actually!
2am and Open Up were two of my favourite songs on Wordshaker when it first for released.
2am is so cute! Reminds me ever so slightly of Madonna - True Blue lmao.
'Open Up' is a certified BANGER though! What a bop.
'Open Up' was actually one of my early favourites. Okay sorry about the 2am shade, I think it's only one of my lowest streamed by them because Last.fm has it as '2am', '2 am' and '2 A.M.', but at least we can agree on the No One/Flashback switch.
Also hating how underrated the whole 'Wordshaker' album was/is in general seeing as it gave us 'Ego', 'One Shot' and 'Wordshaker' (title track).
...'One Shot' not being a single, curses me monthly as well.
