Doctor Blind Chart - 30th August 2020 The Top 5 is shuffled very slightly, however there is a new #1 this week for Canadian born Jayda Guy (Jayda G) who nudges 2-1 to claim a week at the top for the summer infused “Both Of Us”. That run at number 1 may be shortlived however as Dubliners Fontaines D.C. eye-up a second #1 with “Televised Mind” continuing to ascend and this week moving from 4-2. It is the band's second Top 10 hit of the year following “Liberty Belle” which peaked at #3 in February; their debut hit single “Too Real” shot to #1 in January 2019. Dance dominates this week's Top 10 with the aforementioned Jayda G at number 1, former chart topper “For You” from India Jordan gently descending 3-4 and the 14-6 surge of the new SG Lewis single “Impact” which features the vocals of Robyn (someone not unknown to the #1 spot here) and leftfield house music producer and rapper Sheldon Young, aka Chanel Tres. Moving up the Top 10 and fusing the sound of jazz with 2-step garage is the new Moses Boyd and Joe Armon-Jones track “2 Far Gone” which inches up 10-8; it is already the third Top 10 hit of the year for Boyd following “Stranger Than Fiction” (#1 in January) and “Shades Of You”, a collaboration with Poppy Ajudha (#5 in March). Apart from “Impact” the only other Top 10 entrant is Icelandic singer/songwriter Jónsi with “Swill” charging 11-7. Jónsi last hit the Top 10 almost a decade ago in December 2010 with “Around Us” (also #7). With 6 new entries - the highest at just 38 for newcomer JW Francis and debut single “New York” - and double-digit climbs few and far between (5 make leaps of 10 but just 1 exceeds this), this week's chart remains becalmed at the end of a fairly quiet summer. The biggest climber is up eleven at 37 for chart veterans Everything Everything and “Violent Sun”, the 3rd hit from their forthcoming 5th album Re-Animator, due in a fortnight.
