I am excited to hear the new James Arthur track, I have got it queued

I dont usually join this thread so early so thanks for clearing this up.

I'd say the subtitles are usually "biased" toward who will chart highest, but I'm sure exceptions were made for the likes of Britney and Mollie King. Bruno Mars should get a mention though, how about "Murs and Mars"?
(But chart saviour John Legend is most worthy of subtitle honors *.*)

I think music industry should discount the prices of all songs for good considering the fact that streaming is almost beating sales.
I would buy more songs if they sell for 0.69 cents!!!

Apologies if this has already been mentioned in a previous thread, but I see Mariah-AIWFCIY made it's first appearance on the 22nd Sep - a little earlier than usual.
No sign of any of the others yet, though.

I don't think it'll be #1 tbh.
Quite underwhelmed by 24K Magic anyway. Not exactly the kind of huge comeback i was hoping for from him especially after his involvement in 'Uptown Funk' too.
hope there's a better 2nd single aka like GaGa..

Sadly its not the 90s or 00s (when alternative rock or un-poppy dance could do well) and pop music or dance pop does tend to do best these days on sales.
The subtitle reflects the acts who will do best based on prediction.

Mollie Kings former band has an.entire forum dedicated to it on Buzzjack so any new release from her was bound to make the subtitle.
Her release didnt do well because it didnt recieve much AirPlay iirc.

Not feeling this new Bruno Mars track as much as I'd hoped. We all knew it was going to be something similar to "Uptown Funk", but this doesn't seem as strong. A grower perhaps?

11. Zara Larsson - Ain't My Fault [Disappointed to see this dropping so much, I'm hoping that she manages to get a new peak next week but she doesn't seem to be increasing as fast on Spotify as I expected, I thought it would go top 10 but now i'm expecting a peak of around #11-13]

Why is janet devlin going the wrong way....
This is the usual way with Janet's music. She starts well through pre-orders, then falls for the rest of the week on iTunes.
The main reasons for this are:
1. She's an independent artist who has a limited budget & receives no mainstream airplay. If she received radio play she'd easily make top 30 at least.
So her sales rely in the main on her core fanbase.
2. Janet sells through her own website.
I'm not sure how much of the sales traffic goes through her site instead of iTunes, but she was offering signed polaroids & photos with digital downloads through her site.
3. Janet's fanbase is based on her social media presence, and is very international.
She has more US fans than UK fans, and was in New York for a gigs, interviews and promo last week.

I really will be backing them for a #1 with this track. This would be my favourite #1 of 2016 if the track gets there.

There's a twist regarding the results, which is why they can only fit one guest in, presumably. Apparently they're going to announce a bottom three then open the voting again.
Posted by: Ryan. 9th October 2016, 01:44 PM
I'm not sure that's going to add to much time as all that is really being added in is a second results announcement just for that final 3 which surely won't take more than a minute or two. If there is going to just be one guest then they will still have to do a lot of padding to fill the gap.

Sorry to go all maths on you, but a 70% lead would appear as 0.59 (for the song in 2nd place) which he has held consistently for the past week at times reaching 100% (0.50).
If you MEANT ‘push 2nd place to 0.3’ that is actually a 233% lead.

Spotify is astonishingly popular in Sweden, the No.1 regularly gets 200,000 plays a day, which is roughly half of what we'd expect a No.1 to get here, and the UK has a population seven times the size!
So going by the UK system the No.1 would get about 14,000 chart sales a week from Spotify and about 350 digital sales from iTunes, so it’s really not worth counting.

We won't. Sweden's population is about a 10th of ours, and Spotify is actually a proud Swedish company, so it's not really a great comparison. I don't think sales in the UK will decrease much more than they have, probably just a very slow and slight decline.
Posted by: Bjork 10th October 2016, 09:07 AM
why not? if all Scandinavian countries have converted to streaming, why wouldn't the rest follow? cannot see the difference between opening your computer then going to itunes and playing an mp3 you've previously bought vs. opening your computer going to a streaming site and play a song... I see a huge difference with owning a physical CD or vinyl but not with an mp3

Not everyone only listens to music on a computer. What if you listen to music on your phone but you don't have unlimited data? What if you already have a large iTunes library that you're perfectly happy with and you only buy the odd Now comp or Adele CD to add to it now and then? What if you like burning songs on CD to play in your car? Not everyone wants to pay £10 a month because they don't want or need access to unlimited songs.
In some European markets, downloads never really took off in a big way in the first place for some reason. Even before Spotify, iTunes sales in Sweden were quite low.
In the UK, we're still downloading 1.5 million tracks a week. I think if streaming was going to completely kill the downloads market it would be a lot lower than that by now. I mean, what are people waiting for?

It still gets great viewing figures even if it's not at its peak anymore.
The Sunday release is very confusing though, not sure what they were thinking. Although I'd be more annoyed if songs still peaked on week 1, thankfully they don't now.

The post added absolutely no value to the thread. You can have an opinion if you're diplomatic, but out and out trolly posts just to get a rise out of people are just pointless. It's not personal, anyone who posts things like that about any artist will be deleted.
And I'll leave it there.
Posted by: Houdini 10th October 2016, 03:16 PM
My comment definitely was not to get a rise out of anyone and couldn't do that anyway (unless if Little Mix themselves read this forum). Not everyone's opinions can be the same which is the whole point of a forum.
And really what is so offensive about what I said anyway?

Kideko's been steadily increasing constantly for the last 24 hours. Hopefully can break the top 10 soon.
Also expect the new Maroon 5 track to show up somewhere in the top 40 today.

Well yes and no. He's moved on from the generic sound of 2012 to the generic sound of 2016 (the song sounds a lot like The Chainsmokers). I do like 'Starving' a fair bit, but it probably isn't your thing

That Dan & Phil song is awful.
I don't get why charity songs are so awful.
Yes, the causes are GREAT but the quality of the music is often awful.
There are exceptions like Girls Aloud vs Sugababes, One Direction - One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks), Little Mix - Word Up, Amarillo, 500 Miles, Islands in the Stream etc

I've (controversially) mentioned before that my enjoyment of Chainsmokers songs is completely the inverse to their chart peaks. Roses (the lowest peaking) is a great track in its own right, #Selfie (second lowest) tons of fun in a nightmarish sort of way - the backing track coupled with the demented vocals always sounded wonderfully claustrophobic to me, really giving you the feeling of being in some mad club with irritating revellers downing shots and taking selfies. The main 'character' is meant to be a bit horrifying in a what-the-hell-have-we-become sort of way.
The other two hits are just really dull generic pop tracks, neither with the odd beauty of Roses or the pleasingly chaotic madness of Selfie.

... The EDM, Tropical House, Future Bass and Progressive House Band perhaps.
The Internet Is Here up to number 4...sounds like a novelty song from the 80s.

Selfie is intended to be a social commentary song. I really like it (along with the similarly named Nina Nesbitt song too).
Don't Let Me Down is great apart from the really annoying drop.
The drop in Closer is dreadful, it sounds like a kids' toy made that sound.
What is up with that Weeknd song, DAFT PUNK are supposed to be on it, I can't hear it, it just sounds like a generic PBR&B song and is nowhere near as good as the epic The Hills

They are both hilarious and have great videos.
The added spoken lyrics to 500 Miles are funny too such as "when I come."
Islands in the Stream was also fab!
