Another topic with some amazing information. I wuite suprises by some of the chart runs outside the main chart especially "Plese Stay". Thanks again for all the information. Cant wait to see the airplay information.

Fantastic historic figures. I used to remember all her chart runs for her singles. I sadly still retain much of this information haha. At least this saves me having to.

UK performance outside the top 75 is very interesting. No wonder it racked up another 500k after 2004.

It would be great if there was a Top 200 in the 80's, because I would love to see what Kylie! - The Album's chart run would look like! w00t.gif

There was a few months at the end of 2008 where ChartPlus didn't publish any issues, so I don't know if Kylie charted within the positions #51-#100 on the Airplay Chart within these months. I know you can find the #101-#200 positions of the Singles and Albums Charts from these few months on UKMIX, but not sure where you can find the #51-#100 positions for these few months for the Airplay chart. Does anyone know? unsure.gif

#85 All the Lovers

56. [31] Time Bomb
97. [RE] All the Lovers

11. [NE] The Best of Kylie Minogue

Suprised that Time Bomb missed the Top 50, as it was there all week/most of the week.

It would have been easier if Step Back in Time was included on The Best of - I think the majority of people downloaded it from Greatest Hits (1992)

Bugger! I know it's done decently all things considered, but a #31 peak for 'Timebomb' is so unjustified. Equally annoying is it reached #6 on iTunes, if only it was released at the beginning of a week.

The Official Charts can have some weird chart rules at times, so I just wasn't sure if they were going to be combined. tongue.gif

I'd like Step Back in Time to enter again too - it must have just narrowly missed the Top 200 following the Diamond Jubilee performance, as it was Top 200 on iTunes virtually all week!

Posted by: SweetCandy 15th November 2012, 06:34 PM

Why did it do that did she perform it on tv or 59p on iTunes?.

If it carries on being 59p for a few weeks it could easily out peak its current peak of #76.

I think it could easily climb this week, although maybe miss out on the Top 75. But if it could do it the following week, that would be great!

Posted by: Jạy 15th November 2013, 07:31 PM

It was on 116,935 sales in June 2009, which I think is the last sales total we had for it.

I guess 128k makes it one of the worst selling #1s? It's a shame, it deserved more.

I'm not sure how much I was expecting but I was pleased to see it was approaching 130k. Would be interesting to see how 'Red Blooded Woman' has performed in comparison (I see it was 11k behind when a load of Kylie sales were revealed in 2009). Perhaps a little over 120k?

I was always curious as to whether this included the download sales for the track which weren't chart eligible at the time (pre-downloads inclusion in chart calculations).
It did well on the separate download chart at the time

Reckon it is around 155k now then, maybe 160k with the recent sales and streaming.

Yes good point re the downloads that were recorded separately in 2004. Back then download sales were low but perhaps 10k in total not attributed? Forgotten now when downloads were fully included think it was sometime in 2005.

Remember when download sales were only included for chart purposes the week before the physical release date? Think that ended 2006. Confusing!

Yeah, April 2005 before the downloads were included in the chart. And even then it was all a little complicated - a physical version had to be available in shops etc etc

I guess it's a case of relative sales given the year. With IBIY being released at end of 2004, the majority of it's sales were split over 2004/5 and probably amounted to roughly 125-130K (at a guess)
That figure would've placed it at about #40 or better in the Year-end chart for 2004 or in the lower 30's for 2005 Year-end chart

Comparing this to the Year-end for 2013 the #30 track sold 437K and the #40 track sold 365K

Even in the YTD for 2004 IBIY was #63 with 81K sold, YTD for 2013 had the #63 track selling 284K

I Believe In You seems to have been fading out.
The arrival of a plethora of Kate Bush albums in the lower end of the albums chart perhaps pushed KMO out?

Would like to say RIP to Hanboo from UKMIX forum who had compiled the majority of the Kylie chart runs you see on the first page.

RIP Hanboo.

It should climb into the Top 100 this coming week as it's been doing well consistently on itunes. 'The Best Of' might even sneak into the Top 200 again

I don't think she will - in recent years, the #200 of the Year End Charts have sold ~90k+ which 'Into the Blue' won't have managed, even with streaming included. Shame though.

Shame, it should have sold more, radio dropping it like hot stone once it missed the top ten severly dented its chances of a slow descent as per 2 Hearts and All The Lovers.

^Thanks for those!

The last figure for 'I Believe in You' was from February 2014 where it had sold 155k. Presumably the OCC round to the nearest 5k but it's good that its now more close to 160k than 155k!

EDIT: The again, that was inevitable since it re-entered the chart this summer!

Posted by: Jay ジ 17th January 2015, 04:36 AM

Sales figures from the mid 2000s will probably always annoy me! laugh.gif 160,000 sounds awful in today's terms, and isn't suggestive of how big 'I Believe In You' actually was at the time. It spent 4 weeks in the Top 5, which is her second longest Top 5 stay when it comes to Parlophone singles. As we know, one of those weeks at #3 only needed 7,000 sales for the week.

The total figure for 'On A Night Like This' is an injustice too, but that only managed 5 weeks in the Top 40. I'm glad that 'Love At First Sight' finally became silver certified at least!

Looking at her singles sales in the Parlophone era, 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' pretty much looks like a fluke compared to the others.

It's all relative to the era the songs were released.

Giving 2002 Year-End Charts as an example:
#55 Love At First Sight
#60 In Your Eyes

If you compare that to 2014 Year-End Charts
#55 sold 386,000
#60 sold 353,000

Posted by: florenceminogue 17th January 2015, 01:15 PM

And even in 2004 Year-End

#54 Red Blooded Woman
#63 I Believe In You

Bear in mind, 'I Believe In You' made #63 year-end with only 4 weeks sales

Posted by: Jay ジ 17th January 2015, 07:06 PM

All The Lovers is quite close to 400,000 sales. When do we think it will go gold?

Posted by: liamk97 1st June 2015, 11:27 AM

It had sold 370k as of March 2014 and 317k as of January 2011, which is 54k in 3 years and 18k per year, which would suggest it'll pass Gold at the end of the year. However, I doubt it is still selling at that rate, plus it had boosts in 2011 and 2012 when it re-entered a couple of times, so we've probably got until late 2016 to wait.

Posted by: pippa 7th June 2017, 01:33 PM

Her Christmas album managed that amount (a 10th) so hopefulloy the new album can at least match that. That said, Kiss Me Once, fell well short of that figure.

Posted by: Regina 7th June 2017, 01:44 PM

It was helped by being out at a high sales time and being something of a novelty type product.

Posted by: liamk97 7th June 2017, 03:28 PM

Fever had sold 1.682m as of November 2006, so has only sold 31k in the 126 months that have passed (~246 copies sold per month). Seems to suggest there's a lack of Kylie stock and copies aren't getting reissued.

Posted by: Regina 7th June 2017, 03:55 PM

Or just a lack of interest.

Posted by: liamk97 7th June 2017, 04:02 PM

Lack of interest = lack of stock, I imagine, but there's definitely got to be a lack of stock. I'd find it hard to believe one of her best selling albums wouldn't have received purchases when she released X, Aphrodite and Kiss Me Once unless there was just a lack of stock in stores. It's the same with Madonna, outside of The Immaculate Collection and Celebration, which just seems odd to me when you consider other hugely successful acts are always getting their back catalogue stocked up and receiving various re-issues.

I'd think the issue is that you can get all the Fever singles plus her other singles on her various compilations released in those 126 months. She's released two official ones, not counting the various GHs that were released without her permission...

'Can't Get You Out of My Head' has sold a combined 1,263,985 copies (1,195,229 sales; 68,756 streams) and 'Especially for You' has sold 1,011,639 (1,008,057 sales; 3,582 streams).

It is wonderful she has 2 million selling singles based purely on sales, not downloads, streams etc.

If Cant Get You Out of My Head was a monster hit in this era like it was originally, it would easily be over 2 million.

To be fair if you go into records shops all of Madonna's and Kylie's albums are available. Maybe not in supermarkets (although I would say that Like a prayer constantly appears in supermarkets).

Light Years is number 19 in the update. This will likely fall dramatically as the week progresses due to the limited availability of the vinyl, a top 100 placement at the end of the week would be wonderful for what i call her best album.

(Thought I'd reply in this topic because the 'Golden' topic didn't seem to be the place for me to replying specifically about 'Light Years'!)

With how much Light Years has sold so far this week, I'm pretty confident that it will end up somewhere within the Top 60, even if it sold nothing more Tuesday through to Thursday!

Sales so far: 1,728 [Physicals: 1,703 | Downloads: 6 | Streaming: 19]

Sainsbury's Twitter account stated that there's 2,500 copies of the Light Years vinyl, so it's interesting to see that there was still just under 800 copies out there, as of the end of Monday (or perhaps some of these remaining copies hadn't left the distribution centres yet, and will find their way onto shelves soon?)

Fever was even more limited, with only 1,500 copies. This was reflected in its chart performance - it re-entered at #89 with 1,219 copies sold. Presumably its vinyl sales were 1,100+ (taking into account downloads/streaming contribution).

Looking forward to finding out a new sales figure for Light Years! Just over 478,000 as of June 2009.

I am too, even though I know it probably won't have increased that much. Fever sold 22k between June 2009 and June 2017, so maybe ~495k for Light Years?

Posted by: Jay ☆ 30th May 2018, 08:14 PM

It'd be great if this vinyl ended up being the driving force needed for it to pass over 500k, but I wouldn't be surprised if you're right with that prediction and that it's still a bit adrift of that target!

Light Years is #21 today, with 1,939 sales [Physicals: 1,905 | Downloads: 8 | Streaming: 26]. Great to see it managed to sell just over 200 physicals yesterday. biggrin.gif I shouldn't jinx it, but it seems like it should be safe for Top 40? In recent weeks anywhere between 2,000 and 2,200 has been enough to be Top 40.

Posted by: pippa 30th May 2018, 08:22 PM

It would be wonderful if Light Years can get past the half a million sales at some point. It is deserving of more but i would settle for that.

Very pleased at that! Light Years is a classic Kylie album, potentially my very favourite, so to see it shift enough vinyl to get back in the Top 40 feels like it affirms its status in Kylie's discography.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 3rd June 2018, 08:21 PM

I'd probably call it my favourite Kylie album too. There are tracks like 'Koocachoo' and 'Loveboat' that I wouldn't ever listen to as standalone songs but in context of the album when you play it through they work like magic.

Posted by: liamk97 4th June 2018, 11:37 PM

I've always been a fan of 'Loveboat' - it's so much fun!

There's only one misstep and that would be 'Bittersweet Goodbye'. Not because it's a bad song, but because it's so jarring in the context of the album. Maybe it could have been a B-side?

Posted by: pippa 5th June 2018, 01:55 PM

Bittersweet Goodbye is needed on Light Years. On the album it showed another side of Kylie and also gave the album a breather from the fast paced songs.

If i was to drop a song from the album it would easily be Koocachoo, its the only song i skip when i play the album and i play the album alot.

Posted by: liamk97 5th June 2018, 02:11 PM

I've grown used to 'Bittersweet Goodbye' being on there and I guess it's placed in the best position it could be, following 'Please Stay' which has a more melancholy feel to it than most of the album and preceding 'Butterfly' which has an intro that reminds me of the dawn (which is referred to in 'Bittersweet Goodbye'). I just think there could have been a more suitable track to act as a 'break' from the fun fast paced songs.

Posted by: pippa 5th June 2018, 06:31 PM

Bittersweet Goodbye and Fragile from Fever are both breaks in the albums that work extremely well when listening to the albums. With that said, has she ever performed any of these two tracks live as i dont ever recall seeing any performances of the songs.

I've never seen Fragile as the Fever equivalent of Bittersweet Goodbye; it sounds sonically similar to other songs and there are a couple of other slower paced songs.

Bittersweet Goodbye was performed on the Anti Tour btw. She nailed it too.

HMV sale has started and there are a few Kylie titles reduced so should help with extra sales -

Kiss Me Once £3.99 (Coming for that Gold certification)
Fever £3.99
Aphrodite £3.99
Abbey Road Sessions £3.99

Will be nice if it helps out but I'm sure they're usually priced quite cheap anyway.

Just went in to HMV Oxford St and they have a decent display of Hits + in the offers section from £7.99 to £4.99 - I know it’s usally around this price anyway but good it’s getting some exposure, would love to know it’s updated sales.

Ooh good that it's on display. It's a great collection that probably doesn't get as much attention as some of the others so I'm happy it's got that exposure on top of the discount.

Posted by: liamk97 21st September 2018, 12:29 AM

Just reviewing Kylie's sales... I wouldn't be surprised if 'I Believe in You' was certified Silver before the year is out. It has a similar amount of UK streams and sales to 'On a Night Like This' which went Silver earlier this year.

That will probably be her last certification in the singles for quite a while though. Even accounting for streams, I think 'Spinning Around' and 'Higher' are too far off from Gold and 'Slow' stands a better chance at reaching Silver sooner than '2 Hearts', but is still a way off too.

Can't see anything from her albums reaching new certifications either. I don't think Ultimate Kylie shifts many copies now (Amazon only seem to be selling second hand copies) and it's not on Spotify. The 2012 Best of Kylie probably shifts reasonably well in comparison to the rest of her discography but that too is not on Spotify (although it used to be) so Gold may be a way off.

The list features 17 of her PWL singles (by far the most entries on that list), and strangely no 'Word Is Out' or 'Celebration', considering the list begins at 45,000, they both must have sold really low during their original releases. Anyway I've decided to list all of Kylie's entries on that list with their original sales figures.

05. ESPECIALLY FOR YOU [Ft Jason Donovan] = 856,100
06. I SHOULD BE SO LUCKY = 659,700
14. HAND ON YOUR HEART = 424,900
16. THE LOCOMOTION = 356,700
21. WOULDN'T CHANGE A THING = 333,200
36. JE NE SAIS PAS POURQUOI = 288,600
39. GOT TO BE CERTAIN = 276,400
44. TEARS ON MY PILLOW = 249,100
46. BETTER THE DEVIL YOU KNOW = 234,100
57. NEVER TOO LATE = 186,000
77. STEP BACK IN TIME = 148,300
81. GIVE ME JUST A LITTLE MORE TIME = 139,800
85. WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO = 133,400
100. SHOCKED = 106,900*
104. IF YOU WERE WITH ME NOW [FT Keith Washington] = 100,300*
141. FINER FEELINGS = 48,000
145. WHAT KIND OF FOOL (HEARD ALL THAT BEFORE) = 46,000

There are a few different estimates for Kylie's PWL singles. I've tried to base my current estimates on the list that the OCC recently revealed. Some chart enthusiasts may (rightfully) disagree with the OCC but this way keeps things consistent and the sales at least seem correct relatively speaking (aside from Give Me Just a Little More Time which has certainly been overestimated - by about double, I believe - and I have left out of my list for the meantime).

KMO and Abbey Road are also in their sale for £3.99 and Hits+ is being decently displayed in stores for £4.99.

Abbey Road seems to be available widely for some time at rock bottom prices.
It would be lovely to get a full update on all sales for Kylie's albums from OCC.

Really annoying but we don't get an updated total for KM94. sad.gif The source we get classes it totally as a new entry. They did the same when the PWL albums were re-released instead of giving their post-1994 sales like they do for other albums.

nocheer.gif Disappointing as there is nothing new about it apart from the fact it’s issued by BMG (Which is linked with Deconstruction).

Almost understand the Cherry Red releases being new entries (even though it was annoying) but not this.

Some Updates from UKMIX =

Dancing = 83,208* [100k Estimate]
Stop Me From Falling = 40,520* [55k Estimate]

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 10th October 2018, 10:21 PM

Are those download sales, and the estimates being with streams added?

Posted by: liamk97 10th October 2018, 10:27 PM

They're both combined estimates. The first figures are a mix of official figures and estimates from when said songs were outside the official chart but still within the sales-only chart. The second figures are estimates of what said songs have sold as of now.

Great that Dancing is at c. 100k - higher than many of her top ten singles!

Posted by: liamk97 19th October 2018, 11:48 AM

Given the opening posts a bit of an update. The Top 200 chart runs for 1994-2001 are back (so You Disco Needs You returns!) with notes regarding chart rules at bottom of the singles and albums chart sections. Also got sales-only, streaming and downloads chart runs added.

Thanks guys, and thank you Jay for explaining the "compressed" rule in the Spice Girls chart run thread - I used that to base my disclaimer notes on. kink.gif

The sales/download run for 'Dancing' is very erratic indeed, although it's nice to see how enduring it was.

By the way, Jay, am I missing a position for 'Only You' in the official chart? If it was #155 officially when #59 in the sales chart, could it have made the Top 200 when #86 on sales?

I know it’s not a Kylie album (but certainly the only reason I own multiple copies is due to the sleeve and inclusion of TOMP) but does anyone have any sales or chart information on the Delinquents soundtrack for the UK? Did it even chart here - I can only seem to find that it reached #20 in australia.

I could be completely wrong, but maybe soundtracks weren't able to count towards the official chart in the UK at the time? I remember hearing something about that when The Greatest Showman soundtrack was number one last year.

That can’t be right because Grease was a huge #1 album in the 70s, as was Saturday Night Fever...

Posted by: ___∆___ 7th May 2019, 08:21 PM

I think it would have been eligible for the compilation charts rather than the main album chart but I can’t find any information on it or if it did chart.

It was quite a big PWL release and was issued on CD, Vinyl and Cassette - the film did better than many believe in the UK (Box Office #1 and over 1 million in its first week) and the soundtrack of course included a #1 single so would just find it odd if the soundtrack totally flopped.

Shame Golden not showing up in the mids too. Will those streams stay assigned to TARS or be added to SBIT?

So this explains why TARS is racking up the sales...it’s been collecting all the sales equivalent album streams because it has been the biggest physical ‘greatest hits’ seller!!!

I know it’s her hits but I’ve never considered TARS a GH due to how different the versions are - also it’s by far my least listened to Kylie album, I appreciate what she done with the versions but nothing beats the originals IMO.

Agreed though I guess there are no other ‘valid’ hits albums they can assign the streams to so without TARS those streams would just go to the parent studio album I guess???

Body Language was rather unfortunate to be released in a competitive week, but truthfully it should have been able to hold its own considering it was coming off the back of Fever.

X would have easily been #2 the week before as the actual #2 (Westlife) sold 54k. They only narrowly beat her to #3 on its actual release week, leading by 1.3k.

I remember it being frustrating that George Michael released the same week as Kylie in 2014, but it seems Kiss Me Once was very lucky to even make the Top 3!

Fully agree on all your comments. Body language on the back of the huge success of fever should have done more as pre release I had high Hope's of another number 1.

Posted by: Jay ☆ 11th July 2019, 07:02 AM

She certainly had a lot of lucky & unlucky moments!

Thank goodness Spinning Around was well-timed. A #2 comeback would have been fine I suppose, but less of a triumphant "I'm back!" moment.

On a Night Like This was certainly very lucky to place at #2. The 2-11-18-25-40 run was sadly quite poor for a #2. It should have done so much better!

Love at Fight Sight missing its opportunity to be a #1. cry.gif I feel it would have gone down as being a bit of a "non-#1" moment with the chart run it subsequently had though (8-11-21-33-40).

Good timing for In Your Eyes to be released in advance of the big Will Young/Shakira/Nickelback week. #2 a week earlier would have been lovely though!

Slow definitely seemed like a bit of a fluke #1, but I'm so glad she made it. Crazy to think it's almost 16 years since Kylie last had a #1 single.

Red Blooded Woman's sales for #5 were very strong for 2004! I guess it could be argued that it being released alongside Toxic might have helped pick up a few more sales than in another week.

Unfortunate that Come Into My World, Chocolate & Giving You Up missed out on being Top 5 hits! Into the Blue being robbed of Top 10 cry.gif

As for the albums, I'm glad Kiss Me Once made it to #2 but it was evidently very lucky to get that high.

Mid to late 2000s was such a competitive time with amazing sales! Almost 69k to end up at #6! A shame that Body Language missed out on being a Top 5 album, although she did far better than Britney who entered at #14 with In the Zone in the same week ( cry.gif )

Mid to late 2000s was such a competitive time with amazing sales! Almost 69k to end up at #6! A shame that Body Language missed out on being a Top 5 album, although she did far better than Britney who entered at #14 with In the Zone in the same week ( cry.gif )

Always found it interesting that 'Red Blooded Woman' wasn't that far off the first week sales for 'Slow' despite peaking at opposite ends of the Top 5. Maybe 'Toxic' did help it out a bit but Kylie did promote the single like crazy.

Thanks for those sales re: Get Outta My Way! Yeah I was gutted it wasn't more of a hit. sad.gif I remember it being midweek #8 too.

That week of November was very competitive indeed! As I say though, Kylie really should have been able to her own off the back of Fever. 69k may be fab sales today but it was a 50% drop on the first week sales for Fever and was lower than X and Aphrodite (I guess both those albums had factors that helped her sales out but I'd still have expected Body Language to open with bigger sales). Really gutting for Britney that week though! I was always confused as to why that album appeared to do less well than her other albums when it was home to one of her most defining hits.

Posted by: Spiceboy 11th July 2019, 10:42 AM

I remember being really shocked Body Language went in at #6, thought she would lose her record deal off the back of it lol. laugh.gif But sales were very high which is what matters at the end of the day. In The Zone's #14 peak is such a poor reflection of it's success for Britney!

Posted by: Medellíam 11th July 2019, 11:33 AM

Body Language eventually sold a respectable 400k which I guess may have been a better result than anticipated following its initial performance, but probably much lower than the originally expected. What it needed was a successful campaign in 2004, much like In the Zone had:

2003:
Body Language: 265,000, 63rd best seller
In the Zone: 125,000 145th best seller

2004:
Body Language: 110,000, 165th best seller, 375,000 in total
In the Zone: 363,000 51st best seller, 488,000 in total

'Toxic' and 'Everytime' both helped In the Zone return to the Top 15. 'Red Blooded Woman' was had a heavy promo schedule but could only help Body Language return to the Top 40 for one week (#28). By the time 'Chocolate' was released, the album was out of the Top 100 and only briefly returned.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 11th July 2019, 11:51 AM

Double platinum at minimum would have been expected of body language and while it did well it wasnt what most people wanted from kylie, ok album but disappointing too.

Posted by: pippa 11th July 2019, 01:07 PM

At the time i think Kylie should have went with an album more commercial.
The sounds of I Believe In You, Giving You Up and White Diamond would have been a more natural sound follow up to Fever.
Had this route happened the follow up to Fever would have easily crossed double platinum and possibly achieved triple status.

I think it's fair to say 'Me Against The Music' caused it to bomb initially in the UK, but the other two singles rescued it kept it bobbing along and picking up quite big sales over time.

BL lacked a killer single apart from Slow, Secret (Take You Home) was good and it was foolish that it wasn't released.

It’s crazy how those sales were as high as that for not even being top 40 YTD.

Those sales now are like the equivalent to a million seller in those chart days.

Pretty much! I mean the 265k that Body Language sold in 2003 would have been enough for 8th in last year's best sellers list, with 8th in 2003 selling just shy of 1m.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 19th July 2019, 01:15 AM

Shows how much sales in general have really dropped off.

Posted by: pippa 20th July 2019, 01:43 PM

In its current chart run it would be good if Step Back In Time can clear 100,000.
As it is intended as a long term seller it may eventually get to platinum sales.
If a new edition comes out in quarter 4 it could give the release a strong sales lift if it was promoted in some way.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 20th July 2019, 02:55 PM

Ideally it will sell and sell in low numbers over the next few years as thats generally how greatest hits turn into big sellers.

Posted by: ___∆___ 20th July 2019, 07:09 PM

Hoping it ends up like the Maroon 5 GH’s - Even though it only reached #35 it has been a constant seller and spent 107 weeks in the Top 100 so far.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 20th July 2019, 07:44 PM

Yes that's a great example and a chart run like that would be great, plus the maroon 5 g hits isnt far of platinum, I think it sells on reduced price.

I always thought it was an error on her wiki page - The album is a budget priced rehash of ‘Hits +’ (Which also went silver), I’m impressed that this version managed it to, I always remember it being widely available in HMV, Woolworths etc., in their 3 for £10 or chuckEd into their sales for £2.99 so it must have picked up constant trickle sales, it’s also still in print too.

As I've said, I got some numbers for you guys cool.gif Basically I'm in contact with someone who has access to a database containing UK sales. Asked that person for a bunch of Gaga updates and after that, Medellíam PMed me asking if it's possible to get some Kylie updates from my source and since I'm a big Kylie fan, I asked immediately. Didn't want to be a pain in the ass and ask for too many numbers at once, so I asked just for a few eras, but seeing how nice this guy is (and he is a huge Kylie fan cheer.gif ), I have no doubt he'll be willing to send me more numbers, of course when he isn't too busy at work. Thank you for this info! Great to have some updates. I Believe In You is so close to Silver!

Posted by: Medellíam 29th July 2019, 10:12 PM

Starting with the albums, here's how they've increased in the past 10 years (since the June 2009 update):

Light Years: +15,648
Fever: +29,084
Body Language: +4,001
Ultimate Kylie: +28,454
X: +12,317

Pretty small trickle sales really. Poor Body Language selling ~5 copies a week on average!

The last update we received for Fever was 1.713m in June 2017 so seems to be selling ~70k a week on average.

Ultimate Kylie, as we know, has long since been out of stock (since 2011, I think? Would make sense if they wanted to push Best of Kylie in 2012).

-x-

On to the singles:

Spinning Around: +84,385
On A Night Like This: +71,989
Kids: +64,588
Please Stay: +8,083

Can't Get You Out of My Head: +266,195
In Your Eyes: +37,885
Love at First Sight: +80,408
Come Into My World: +22,689

Slow: +37,496
Red Blooded Woman: +19,675
Chocolate: +9,978

I Believe in You: +52,501
Giving You Up: +3,284

2 Hearts: +25,236
Wow: +51,342
In My Arms: +24,431
The One: +17,159

Obviously 'Head' is miles ahead. 'Spinning Around' and 'Love at First Sight' being second and third for trickle sales is expected too, however I'm pleasantly surprised to see 'On a Night Like This' not that far behind! I suppose that does include sales from the 2012 Abbey Road version which may have helped (I believe it received airplay and had a physical release). It passed Silver in May 2018, so seems to be selling ~300 copies a week.

'Come Into My World' has relatively decent trickle sales, although I guess benefits from being on her biggest album. Likewise, decent showing for 'The One' all considered, proving my point I made earlier in the anniversary thread that it's become more known with time.

In April 2018, we received some pure sales info for Kylie's singles: 'Spinning Around' was on 314k, so ~45k from streaming; 'Head' was on 1.205m, ~165k streaming; and 'Slow' was on 135k, ~20k streams.

Pleased to see 'In Your Eyes' has passed 200k, having previously been certified Silver based on shipments and not sales. I was hoping 'I Believe in You' was on the verge of being certified Silver but it seems we're still a while off.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 29th July 2019, 10:20 PM

Love at first sight clearly the 2nd best selling on fever and wow really was the biggest hit by far from x. Would love light years to pass the half a million and it should eventually get there.

Been working out some streaming totals based on the figures we received today and the pure sales estimates based on the list supplied by the OCC from April 2018, then applied them to the streaming list also supplied by the OCC. It would seem 'Get Outta My Way' and 'Where the Wild Roses Grow' are around ~140k, 'Better the Devil You Know' is on ~370k, 'I Should Be So Lucky' is on ~735k, 'Locomotion' is on ~455k, 'Confide in Me' is on ~210k, 'Hand On Your Heart' is on ~510k, 'Timebomb' is on ~75k and 'Never Too Late' is on ~195k.

Interesting how all the singles from the Light Years era outsold the Fever singles with the exception of the lead single. Just proves what kind of an impact one huge single can have.

Posted by: pippa 31st July 2019, 02:13 PM

The importance of a strong lead single should never be under estimated.
From reading your post i tallied up the singles from Light Years and Fever (not including the leads).

Light Years accounts for 592,521
Fever accounts for 553,697.

Posted by: aeroco 31st July 2019, 03:08 PM

Yes but singles sales quickly declined year on year from 2000....The 2nd and 3rd Fever singles initially did better than the LY ones though Kids/ OANLT seem to be doing as well as or better with downloads and streams.

2003/4 were particularly terrible years for single sales. IBIY/GYU suffered the greatest.

@BigMixer send me the list whenever you want, however, I need to let you guys know that for anything before 1994, my figures will be off. I noticed when looking for Madonna's older hits that a lot of them had very low units compared to OCC articles, and it was the same for pre-1994 songs by other artists like Kylie and Whitney. I emailed OCC operations and this was their response:

Hi,

Ah yes, this is because the data on our system only goes back to when the online was first created – Week 4 1994.

Unfortunately it is very tricky to find data before this date as we used to record chart metrics/figures on paper before this. So the article which was published last year would have combined all these figures+ to get the total DUS.

So you won’t be able to find overall totals combined on the OCC online, you will just have to run a bespoke chart for all commercial models to find the physical, digital and streaming since 1994.
---
I checked for Kylie's older stuff e.g. Better the Devil you know and the numbers were indeed a lot lower, so I can find all SPS from 1994 to today, but before 1994 will probably be only from OCC articles

Posted by: BigMixer 31st July 2019, 07:52 PM

Yeah unfortunately the OCC only have post-1994 data in their archives, however, I do have access to lots of estimates for Kylie's pre-1994 singles based on things like Year End Charts so it is possible to work out reasonably accurate overall totals. But anything you can supply is much appreciated indeed! Looking forward to the next list!

Great update thank you. Really chuffed ATL is flying towards 500k and Dancing racking up deserved sales and streams with every bit of promo. ITB doing better because of streaming too. Should have been included on SBIT!!!

Yes BTT and PYHU are mixed up...BTT had a decent chart run and I remember it being over 50k a while ago.

Flower...it won’t have sold much more but I’m assuming it lost 10k sales because they were disqualified before the instant grat rules were changed.

Ooh can we have Right Here Right Now, The Other Boys and At Christmas sales too?

was about to ask if you guys have any requests before we move on to the 90s biggrin.gif

Never understood RNRN flopping, remember enjoying it before I even fully got into Kylie.

Everyone just post your requests so I can send everything to AJ.

If we could get sales for 'Your Disco Needs You', 'Crystallize', 'Right Here, Right Now' and 'Black & White' so I can fill in the gaps on the front page, that would be fantastic. I'd also be interested in seeing the total for 'Love Affair' as the OCC reported that was Kylie's best selling album track (I'm just unsure whether they included streams in their total or not). Perhaps 'Beautiful', 'Raining Glitter' and 'What You Waiting For?' too.

For the albums, Greatest Hits (the 2002 version, unless the OCC have decided to combine its sales with the original 1992 version, which I know will mean there will be missing pre-1994 data), Showgirl: Homecoming Live, Boombox, Kylie: The Albums 2000-2010, Aphrodite Les Folies: Live in London and Kiss Me Once: Live at the SSE Hydro would help complete the first page.

Nervo/Jake Shears/Kylie - Other Boys
Kylie - Absolutely Anything & Anything At All

Desperate for all the Deconstruction sales but they will be part of the 90s update cheer.gif

Thanks again cheer.gif

Forgot to post, AJ calculated the expected units for the Golden era for this whole year

Golden : 20k
- Dancing : 45k
- Stop me from Falling : 20k
- Golden : 8k
- A Lifetime to Repair : 9k
- Music's Too Sad Without You : 35k

Posted by: Medellíam 31st July 2019, 11:03 PM

As I had calculated, 'All the Lovers' is approaching 450k and 'Get Outta My Way' is on 140k. I'm going to assume the 68k figure belongs to 'Better Than Today', which was on 51k by the end of its chart run.

'Higher' had 338k pure sales as of April 2018, so ~30k from streams and proves it was definitely left off Kylie's Top 40 Most Streamed Tracks list by the OCC.

'Into the Blue' over 100k is quite decent for it - it had 58k sales as of the end of its chart run, however this didn't include streams as it left the chart before streaming was incorporated; the streams it had accumulated in 2014 will have been added to its total when streaming was added in July, as they were for all songs. When I saw it was Kylie's 4th most streamed song, I did wonder if we'd get a huge climb on that 58k.

Great to get a much anticipated total for 'Dancing' - might have hoped it was closer to Silver but it'll get there eventually and that is nearly 100k shifted outside of being in the chart. Great number for 'Stop Me From Falling' too - I'm guessing the Joe Stone remix helped its streams out a lot as that was on a fairly popular playlist.

Last estimate for Aphrodite was 315k to the end of its chart run, so it's added 17k since then.

Kiss Me Once adding 2,368 since the last update in April 2018 - that's like ~40 copies a week which is actually much more than I'd have expected! laugh.gif

Last total for Golden was just 4 weeks ago (147,953) so it's selling just under 400 copies a week still!

wub.gif Thanks very much AJ & BigMixer, and Liam for the extra stats!

Particularly interesting to find out what Dancing has sold. biggrin.gif I look forward to that certifying Silver someday. Crazy that it's on a higher total than Slow! I'm impressed that Stop Me from Falling is approaching 100k too.

Nice to see that Kiss Me Once is on the verge of 90k!

Putting these two eras next to each other what a return to sales glory between KMO and Golden - Queen of chart comebacks wub.gif

Great sales for dancing, it should eventually pass 200k which is Brill and stop me from falling will easily pass 100k both bigger sellers than too 10 hits such as in my arms, please stay and come into my world.
Musics too sad with you has almost the same sales as golden and a lifetime to repair combined which is great as it's a far better song.

Posted by: pippa 2nd August 2019, 12:25 PM

Dancing on higher sales than her last Number 1 Slow is just a magnificent result.
As we have said many many times, the chart peak of Dancing does not reflect its success.

Really impressed with dancing sales and it will easily pass 200k and its deserved as it was her strongest single since all the lovers.

Thank you AJ and BigM.....good to see the bonus albums have added some numbers, every little helps! Interesting how there is a separate sales total for the 92 Greatest Hits since 1994 - hopefully that means the 2002 reissue has its own separate total.

At Christmas racking up the streams and sales - excellent.

RHRN and WYWF - biggest missed opportunities ever.

I believe this is for the reissue as that went Platinum (300,000 sales). It wasn’t available for very long tbh so the 4,000 figure must be old copies in record shops etc.,
