A new international Swedish Supernatural thriller starting on BBC4 with a double episode from 9pm, looks very promising. =========== There are so many horror-film influences in this schlocky, hugely enjoyable Swedish supernatural thriller – The Shining, Paranormal Activity, The Ring, The Blair Witch Project… There are call-outs to each and every one. Just the premise – a group of young men and women head to an isolated mountain ski lodge for a holiday – will have chiller-lovers quivering in anticipatory glee. The lights flicker and there are sinister thumping noises in the night. Indeed something terrible happened there 20 years ago that stopped the lodge from ever being open to the public. Naturally the locked door to a cellar opens by itself. It’s terrific fun. The little group is led by the insufferable Johan, who has big plans to buy the abandoned lodge. But his sensitive girlfriend Hanne knows that the place is very, very wrong. Settle back and prepare to wallow in the opening double bill. Source: Radio Times =========== |

It's all very much like a Stephen King novel so far!

A tad formulaic and slow in places, but it looked beautiful and was suitably atmospheric, along with that Scandinavian charm. Will hopefully stick with this one.

I agree, it was slow in places, it did pick up a gear in the second episode, interested in the Jessan character, I think she is linked to the dead family in some way, the series looks promising, but has me interested. Most Scandi dramas do start of pretty slow, and turn into classics by the end.

Well, that was all rather ridiculous - complete with a teaser of an ending

This fell on a dull squib in the end, I just knew the plot from episode 5, what was going on, and one by one they were getting killed off. Just felt like an Agatha Christie movie. If they make a follow up based on the ending, I'm not going to bother watching it.

It started off well, but I wished I hadn't bothered in the end.
I'm still not sure who killed Osvald, in the basement ? |
