As I said in the other thread, AGT's Champions series was genius and has worked so well with an insane level of talent, but unfortunately Syco's f***ed over so many of the winners and most memorable acts that I doubt many of the biggest or best would come back laugh.gif I guess you never know though.

A celebrity version seems like the only idea worse rn than another normal series laugh.gif The last one was a disaster, and nobody is going to be chomping at the bit to see some Love Island/TOWIE flops and a couple of soap stars singing each week. If it was a sort of mini thing during Children In Need or Stand Up To Cancer, fine, but it's not really something they should do as a whole "normal" series. One of the big problems of a normal series is the lack of investment in winners, what's the point if they won't do anything after, and a celebrity series is hardly going to make a chart star out of Megan from Love Island or Gemma Collins after a couple of times singing ok on TV.

Yeah it’s a shame Syco screwed over so many of the big names. The only thing is that the exposure for numerous weeks on tv might be appealing for acts who are now struggling (like Leona, Alexandra etc). It could be a good opportunity to remind people why the won and reignite interest in them. Other than that, I can’t see anyone wanting to return after the way they were screwed over lmao

Posted by: ThePensmith 14th February 2019, 11:29 AM

Well - and I put a disclaimer here in case this statement comes back to bite me on the bum that what I say next is null and void in the event it happens - Olly certainly wouldn't do an All Stars series. He's not said himself but he's hinted that after his use as a whipping boy for all that was wrong with the 2015 series he doesn't fancy being that heavily involved again. And who can blame him when he's a coach on a series getting more viewers than either of the last two series of X Factor had and he has another sell out tour later this year?

JLS I can't see doing it - partly because Oritsé's current brush with the law is still looming over him, but also because JB seems quite happy being a farmer and presenter these days, Marvin likewise, but substitute farmer for DJ. Aston would be plausible enough a representation I suppose. Diana Vickers would be great too.

It'll be interesting to see how ITV copes without it in its absence. I imagine that their autumn Saturday schedules without it will end up being to them what Saturday nights are to the BBC at the times of year that Strictly isn't on.

Posted by: pippa 14th February 2019, 02:47 PM

If the rumours are true acts such as Olly Murs wont do it as they dont need to as they have had a very successful career.
In my opinion this would be more suited to former contestants/winners such as Ben Haenow, Sam Bailey, Rak Su, Eoghan Quigg, Leon Jackson, Marcus Collins etc and i would predict Louisa Johnson will be one of the first signed.
The acts mentioned had short lived success so having further association with the show can really only boost their profile.
Other acts such as Leona Lewis, Olly Murs, James Arthur etc will take all the guest performance slots.
I do like this idea,i know most wont but i hope the rumours are true as it could provide wonderful trip down memory lane when the show was something huge.
The only thing we are guaranteed is Steve Brookstein wont be part of it tongue.gif

We... really don't need both laugh.gif I mean I'll watch, on paper it's great as I've said with the AGT series currently, but there's so many reasons why it won't work in theory - especially with last year's panel! If they did manage to get back a good bunch of the biggest/best names and fill the gaps with talented international contestants, it'd be maybe ok, but it's so bad for so long it's gonna take more than that. Also unlike AGT with some viral/really impressive acts, I can't think of many from worldwide X Factor, other than ones I just love for their music laugh.gif Francesca Michielin or Reigan Derry would kill me off I'd be so excited but they wouldn't light up the viewing figures!

Not to mention, part of the reason is that people are tired of so much X Factor, 2 series in one year is only going to accelerate that surely??

Posted by: Handmade Heaven 15th February 2019, 12:58 PM

^Exactly!

How can this plan (that includes a celeb version no one was asking for) do anything but damage the brand even further?

Posted by: ElectroBoy 15th February 2019, 01:42 PM

I really don't see who would want to go back... I mean sure they could probably get back the likes of Chico, Wagner, Tesco Mary etc.

But acts with actual talent/ that had something aren't going to back. Also how many people have actually spoken out about the show over the years? Would they want to come back?

I appreciate they're doing all they can to try and save a dying format, but I think the axe would be kinder.

Posted by: TheGrinch 15th February 2019, 01:59 PM

Leona lewis coming for a second wind

Posted by: Jαsє 15th February 2019, 04:44 PM

I'm so far beyond ready for the resurrection of Diana Vickers!!!!!!

Posted by: RobBob 15th February 2019, 04:58 PM

I feel like they'd go for the sort of contestants who have found themselves into minor celebrity roles or West End, like Stacey Solomon, Ray Quinn etc.

I'd have thought they'd have a problem luring back in the amount of contestants they've shafted over the years...

Posted by: LMLou 15th February 2019, 05:05 PM

Fairly excited for the All Stars one but not really the Celeb one
The normal series should be rested for a good 3/4 years

Posted by: Tombo 15th February 2019, 05:53 PM

This is so exciting, I am really looking forward to the seasons this year. I might even tune into BGT Champions, I haven't seen many recent series of it but it will be cool to see a mix of classic acts and some that I missed.

I am looking forward to lots of X Factor contestants coming back. It would suck for the ones who come back and audition for the judges to just give them a no laugh.gif
That is if they will still run that aspect in the same sort of way.

I would like to see Amelia Lily and Misha B back.

Alexandra Burke seems to be busy with musicals but hopefully she could come back.

There have been so many great acts over the years, Luke Friend is under-rated. Abi Alton was very talented. There is just such a broad spectrum of acts but then as others have said, it depends if they would want to go back and how they perceived their treatment by it the first time round.

Kitty Brucknell would probably go back if they asked, I would root for her again if she did!

Saara Aalto also is incredible.

I hope they actually have some decent celebrities for the celebrity version.

Posted by: blacksquare 15th February 2019, 05:54 PM

They need to get a classic judges panel for this to work.

Posted by: TheGrinch 16th February 2019, 12:32 AM

Ruth Lorenzo

Posted by: Adam 19th February 2019, 12:46 PM

I could see a few of our faves doing it. Fleur's solo single did nothing, even after a Celeb stint, I think she might swallow her pride and just do it. She seems to still get on well with Simon. Same with Louisa.

Saara I'm not certain would get asked but if she did, why not? A few more weeks exposure, it can't harm. And Queen Habibis, obv. Ha

Posted by: Liаm 19th February 2019, 01:33 PM

Saara said she wouldn't do it, I suppose you're right about some of the less successful gay niche ones we love though- I'm sure there'd be a couple who'd think "sod it what's to lose" laugh.gif I can see it either bombing and being nearly all terrible people, or it'll be one that we love on here but still flops because the public don't care, I'm very sceptical that they'd get back all the big ones they'd need for it to be a success.

Posted by: Alex! 19th February 2019, 01:44 PM

Cher Lloyd or I don't want it.

Posted by: pippa 19th February 2019, 09:52 PM

Ruth Lorenzo would be wonderful to see back.
Ideally the judging panel would be Dannii Minogue, Cheryl, Louis and Simon.
That line up was the best judging panel.

Leona Lewis, James Arthur and Shayne Ward likely to be in

Leona's already won x

Posted by: ElectroBoy 19th April 2019, 10:04 PM

I just don’t get why anyone would want to do an Allstars series unless you’re someone like Chico, Jedward or Stevie Richie

Posted by: jakewild 19th April 2019, 10:08 PM

no chance would leona do it. unless she's a judge.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 19th April 2019, 10:24 PM

Leona and Shayne make sense - but James Arthur is a bit strange. He's still having hits!

Though I'd love for this show to do to a former contestant what the AGT series has done for Susan Boyle.

Posted by: PaulM1983 19th April 2019, 10:52 PM

I hope Leona doesn't do it. Her voice is not where it used to be. I'd worry she'd be out embarrassingly early.

Is it? She was fantastic performing One More Sleep on The X Factor final last year.

You can barely hear Leona tbh the girl contestant overcome her voice

Posted by: PaulM1983 20th April 2019, 11:29 AM

Leona's had some very rough performances over the last few years where she hasn't been able to control her pitch, her voice has cracked or she hasn't been anywhere near the big notes. She's had various health issues and I'm sure that's contributed but I suspect overuse and not looking after it properly in the first few years after winning played a big part in that.

Posted by: Envoirment 20th April 2019, 02:06 PM

I'm sure Leona will do fine, especially as the X-factor usually has good sound systems/she'll prepare herself for the performances. The biggest critics of her voice are her biggest fans unforutnately. Usually the reaction to her live performances is generally very positive on social media. And whilst her voice isn't what it was back in 2006, she still has an amazing voice and with the right song choices I'm sure she'll hit it out of the park.

Part of me really wants her to perform "Ave Maria" if she is indeed a contestant.

I hope they only have serious acts on the All Stars versions and no joke acts. Shayne Ward/Leona Leona/James Arthur/JLS/Diana Vickers/Laura White/Alexandra Burke/Matt Cardl/Rhydian etc. It could actually be a very good show if done right.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 20th April 2019, 02:07 PM

I reckon they'll pronbably have one joke act (Honey G or Chico hopefully tongue.gif)

I'd also like Same Difference to be back laugh.gif

I’d love Same Difference to come back! ‘The Rest Is History’ is no joke, either... tongue.gif

Posted by: Mack. 20th April 2019, 03:57 PM

Probably Ruth Lorenzo would be in possibly. And maybe Jedward...

Posted by: Spiceboy 24th April 2019, 10:25 AM

I'd be up for watching an All-Stars version of the show, and I haven't watched it for many years now.

I would like to see the classic judging panel though - Simon / Cheryl / Danni / Louis (or Mel B in there somewhere wub.gif ) as that is the judging panel associated with it's glory years.

Contestants should be:
- Leona Lewis
- Joe McElderry
- Matt Cardle
- Shayne Ward
- JLS
- James Arthur (even if I can't stand him)
- Cher Lloyd
- G4
- Alexandra Burke
- Louisa Johnson
- Rhydian or Leon Jackson
- Stacey Solomon
- Rebecca Ferguson
- Diana Vickers

Jokey / Fun act one of the following only:
- Jedward
- Chico (I'd like Chico as the original one)
- Honey G (really wouldn't want her tbh)
- Wagner

Would be incredible if they could also get but I don't think they have a chance:
- Little Mix (no flipping chance)
- Olly Murs (again can't see it at all)
- One Direction (hahaha hilarious as if)

Posted by: Liаm 24th April 2019, 10:28 AM

Idk Leona is still really loved by the public. When she appears somewhere on TV, it's almost always positive on social media!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 24th April 2019, 09:22 PM

I wonder how recent they'll go - I reckon we could see Ben Haenow and Sam Bailey, perhaps Matt Terry as well. I don't think they'll all be the 'big' winners.

They don't need 'winners' as such. They need memorable characters or ones who actually had some hits away from the show. Leona Lewis would be the ultimate one really as she is the whole package, the incredible talent and the initial humongous success. Acts like Cher Lloyd, Chicio, Diana Vickers, JLS... acts who didn't win but went on to achieve success away from the show, will bring in far more viewers than Matt Terry, Sam Baily and Ben Haenow would (I actually loved Ben Haenow tbf lol).

They are never going to get the likes of Little Mix, Olly Murs or any of One Direction, it needs to be acts who are memorable and had some success, but who's success has dried up so could do with a publicity boost which could potentially give them a second shot.

Posted by: Calum 24th April 2019, 11:36 PM

This whole idea just seems really messy to me if I'm honest. laugh.gif I feel like if they're going to have any winners participating, it should be a Champions series where all winners are up against each other (the likeliness of that happening being incredibly slim).

If we're going with characters that made it to live shows, excluding any winners, I'd probably want to see:

Fleur East
Amelia Lily
Cher Lloyd
G4
Same Difference
Misunderstood
Jedward
Chico
Wagner
Luke Friend
Saara Aalto
Kitty Brucknell

There's a lot of finalists I just can't see wanting to come back for whatever reason, and with the likes of JLS it might be a bit of a risky move having them involved given what Oritsé's been in the headlines for recently.

Posted by: cantthinkofaname 25th April 2019, 02:59 PM

Cher Lloyd coming back would be such a dream. Especially if it helped boost her persona a bit again wub.gif

I think in an All-Star series there is seriously no need for a joke act but lbr there will probably be like 3 or so.

Do we think there's even a slight chance of Ella Henderson using this to aid with her comeback?

Posted by: Liаm 25th April 2019, 11:55 PM

Yeah it's far less about getting winners - look how many didn't do anything in the first place! For this to do as well as Simon clearly wants it to/they need it to, they need the names who actually had some success on board but idk how many of those would actually do it. On paper there's so many line-ups that could work but I can't shake the feeling that we're gonna end up with like Honey G, Matt Terry and a boyband made up of Sam Callahan, one of Union J and Nicholas McDonald laugh.gif

Posted by: ThePensmith 30th April 2019, 04:32 PM

I said this a few pages back but I don't see JLS doing it. Namely because Oritse's future is still hanging in the balance - or rather the hands of the law - at the moment but even if it wasn't I get the impression it's not the right time for Marvin, JB or Aston. A shame really given it's 10 years in July since 'Beat Again' went to number one so it'd be a fitting opportunity.

If Leona or Alexandra aren't involved I'd be very surprised. As others have cited Leona would have the potential to do a Susan Boyle off the back of this which would be no harm to her at all.

He also says all the winners are coming back - I assume he means most? If so I assume we'll see the likes of Matt Cardle/James Arthur/Joe McElderry/Louisa/Sam Bailey/maybe even Little Mix? It certainly looks like they're going for a talented all stars as opposed to having "joke" acts. Although I suspsect they'll have joke acts on for the audition part of the show if it is indeed like the BGT All Stars competition?

Hopefully Leona will wow everyone once again with her talent. I know she's taking this seriously (she not long went on a vocal retreat to help improve her voice). I'm really hoping she'll manage to get to the final and blow everyone away with "Ave Maria" in her operatic technique. If it's a public vote, I don't think she'll win though if the likes of James Arthur/Little Mix/Matt Cardle are there. I'm not sure she'll manage to snag the mum/teenage girl votes.

Posted by: Jαsє 7th July 2019, 11:44 PM

I wonder if people will be performing their own songs or covers?

Whatever happens, Leona is the rightful winner happy.gif

Posted by: JosephAvery 8th July 2019, 08:17 PM

Imagine it being like AF Idol with their original songs *.*

Posted by: Botchia 8th July 2019, 08:21 PM

I'm also intrigued as to how the format will work if they're stripping it over a week. Will they have a few each night in a BGT semi final format and then a file? Or will they have like 12 contestants and narrow it down each night? Hmmm

Anyway looks like we're getting BGT Champions first in September, then Celebrity X Factor then All Stars in November so we have quite a while to wait for All Stars!

Posted by: Liаm 8th July 2019, 08:23 PM

I've just got a horrible feeling it'd be like 1st out Louisa, 2nd out Alexandra, 3rd out Leona laugh.gif

If James is in it, I'm almost certain he'll win. He has a pretty large fanbase online.

Posted by: dobbo 8th July 2019, 09:18 PM

"All" of the winners. Yeah right, show me Steve Brookstein and I'll believe you.

Surprised they've got all those names though. This will be a good one to follow to see how they get on against each other and for the nostalgia factor (what with Louis returning as well).

Posted by: Prettylittlebry 8th July 2019, 09:32 PM

Amelia Lily would be awesome.

Also, perfect opportunity for Ella Henderson to comeback? 😛

Posted by: danG 8th July 2019, 09:35 PM

Steve Brookstein coming back and properly slagging off Simon would be TV gold but that's clearly not going to happen.

I doubt James Arthur will be taking part, he said a few weeks ago in an interview that he isn't and wouldn't do it just now because his career doesn't need it yet.

I would hate for Leona to do it and not win, I hope she chooses her songs carefully and really works on her vocals to nail them. There is one act who would prove a real threat and I think its Joe McElderry, he has a very dedicated fan base, someone posted on another thread that he has won 5 other reality shows since X Factor.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 9th July 2019, 11:40 PM

Ya Joe could go on and win again. Regarding leona, with how things are she hasnt anything to lose I dont think so I would like to see her back as I would love to see dannii minogue back as a judge.

Alexandra truly is clueless. The UK hates her why would she even sign up for this.

I mean don't get me wrong, it'll be amazing to see her perform again, but she's gonna be out 3rd at best

What are y’all basing this on? Not doubting it just curious because I didn’t know the public detested her (I mean she did win).

There was A LOT of hate towards her during her stint on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 for being "arrogant".

Posted by: Jack 11th July 2019, 10:37 PM

Ever since okay dot com and Strictly, she's not been liked at all. She went through a really tough time on Strictly and I really still don't get it sad.gif.

Posted by: kye 12th July 2019, 06:30 AM

i think it’s a bad move for her. if she’s really good, she’s gonna be ‘showing off’ and arrogant again. if she plays it down she’s ‘lost it’. she won’t be able to win.. and i don’t just mean the competition.

her team will probably be hoping that she’s able to turn it all around and i really hope she can as the public are fickle.
but when i went to see strictly on tour, they were literally booing her when she danced, it was heartbreaking.

Posted by: Jack 12th July 2019, 08:28 AM

sad.gif so so sad. It was lovely to see her at Pride last year because she got such overwhelming support and she even got emotional saying it's nice that people do still support her.

I dunno. She's just finished a very popular stint in The Bodyguard touring different cities hasn't she? A lot of people were asking for the soundtrack (as in the one with her recorded vocals)

Also, the public will forget about everything when they are reminded exactly why she won XF I reckon.

She did the Bodyguard before strictly as well.
Homegirl gets trending on twitter whenever she does a TVappearance and it's not a good thing.

Very saddening to see tbh. She's one of the UK's finest all rounders. She sings, she dances, she performs and she puts her heart in whatever she does. The UK public are vicious and lowkey racist

The Sun claims to know the first 2 contestants on X Factor All Stars:

"The Sun claims Dinah Jane from Fifth Harmony, who finished 3rd on "X Factor USA" in 2012 and Samantha Jade, who won "X Factor Australia" in 2012, will take part on the All Stars edition of "X Factor".

"Fifth Harmony's Dinah Jane 'signs up for X Factor All Stars'

Former Fifth Harmony singer Dinah Jane has reportedly signed up for The X Factor's All Star series.

Dinah Jane rose to fame on The X Factor USA's second season in 2012.

After originally auditioning as a solo artist, she formed girl group Fifth Harmony together with Ally Brooke, Camila Cabello, Normani Kordei and Lauren Jauregui.

The five piece made the final where they finished in third place, going on to sign a record deal that saw them release three albums.

In 2018, the group went on an indefinite hiatus to pursue solo projects.

Now The Sun newspaper reports that Dinah has signed up to the upcoming UK All Stars version of The X Factor.

An insider told the newspaper: “Dinah has a record deal but this is a great chance to let people see who she really is. She will be good competition.”

The tabloid also claims that X Factor Australia winner Samantha Jade is also set to compete.

Host Dermot O'Leary recently teased that the new spin-off would welcome back "a few of the winners, a few of the sort-of nearly winners and a few of the more eccentric people."

As for what British acts we can expect to see, 2008 champion Alexandra Burke is also rumoured to be making a return together with Ray Quinn, who was runner up to Leona Lewis in 2006.

Wagner, Honey G and Jedward have also been rumoured for a return.

However a number of past contestants, such as Rylan Clark-Neal and James Arthur, have ruled themselves out of competing."

Dinah Jane I'm screaming, that's a worse barrel scrape than a lot of the BGT Champions line-up laugh.gif Samantha Jade I'm here for, she will wipe the floor with most acts we could put forward. I didn't expect to have any international acts on, Francesca Michielin while we're at it plz x

Because she's the girl on the end from a girl group who hasn't been active for a few years now.

Yes Fifth Harmony were big, but the average UK XF viewer is hardly going to care. On here sure as BJ love Fifth Harmony. But its hardly a viewer pull

Posted by: Liаm 16th October 2019, 01:59 PM

I love 5H but wouldn't even recognize her if she walked past me on the street! The majority of viewers in th UK won't care about their two big hits a few years ago, and certainly won't know the one who never really did anything in the group laugh.gif

Posted by: Adam 16th October 2019, 02:01 PM

I guess you could argue it either way... yes those things may be true but they haven't signed FH, they've signed one fifth and not one of the most important fifths in the eyes of the public... from another country. Is it better than Rachel Hylton but you can see why people might think it a little weak.

5H harmony weren’t that big here Work From Home aside.

They never managed a successful album did they?

Their UK career really died as soon as Camila left and I imagine it was the same on a WW scale too.

Camila was the star of that band and the only one who had anything about her. Demi said it on one of the early live shows and she was SPOT ON.

So yeah if this was a US show Dinah would be a bigger pull but ask a UK person who Dinah Jane is they’ll likely have no clue.

Posted by: Liаm 17th October 2019, 04:44 PM

I mean both of them are, to me getting random international people just feels like none of the big or memorable names from our own series would do it so they had to find a few others to fill it laugh.gif Which is fine, the international acts saved BGT Champions tbh, I guess they can't help it if the likes of Leona, Matt Cardle, Rebecca, Shayne Ward won't do it but when it's called All Stars you don't expect an XF Aus winner and "the one off Fifth Harmony"

I guess it might end up being refreshing though having "out there" choices with another shot at the crown

Posted by: Spiceboy 24th October 2019, 10:22 PM

I was genuinely looking forwards to this but now I think it just sounds like trash. I mean seriously one fifth of Fifth Harmony lol. Nobody even knows who they are bar Camilla and the one who duetted with Sam Smith... And then an Australian winner that again nobody knows blink.gif

I thought Leona was supposed to have signed up to this? Not here for X Factor from around the world tbh I want the UK ones, and if they can't get them back then don't bother doing it. There is plenty to choose from afterall come on...
- Steve Brookstein
- G4
- Shayne Ward
- Andy Abraham
- Chico
- Leona Lewis
- Ray Quinn
- Leon Jackson
- Rhydian Roberts
- Same Difference
- Alexandra Burke
- JLS (or a member of JLS maybe rather than 5th Harmony aka Aston Merrigold)
- Eoghan Quinn
- Diana Vickers
- Ruth Lorenzo
- Joe McElderry
- Olly Murs
- Stacey Solomon
- Jedward
- Matt Cardle
- Rebecca Ferguson
- One Direction (I mean total no chance bu Louis maybe lol)
- Cher Lloyd
- Little Mix (again fat chance lol)
- Marcus Collins
- Amelia Lilly
- James Arthur
- Jahmene Douglas
- Christopher Baloney (oops sorry Maloney)
- Union J
- Rylan Clark
- Ella Henderson
- Lucy Spraggen
- Sam Bailey
- Ben Haenow
- Fleur East
- Andrea Faustini
- Stereokicks
- Jake Quickenden
- Louisa Johnson
- Reggie and Bollie
- Matt Terry
- Saara Alto
- Rak Su
- Dalton Harris

All the above are name / acts who came top 3, or did well after the show or are remembered... surely they can get a decent line up from the above. I mean I know they aren't going to get Olly, One Direction lads or Little Mix but surely they could have got a member of JLS rather than Fifth Harmony and some decent UK acts who have nothing to lose from doing it (Leona tbh sadly).

Posted by: Spiceboy 24th October 2019, 10:25 PM

Also Paula Abdul judging seriously wtf? She has nothing to do with X Factor or even the UK? Surely they can get some of the previous judges back I mean again:

- Simon
- Louis
- Sharon
- Cheryl
- Nicole
- Danni
- Mel B
- Gary
- Tulisa
- Kelly
- Louis
- Rita
- Nick
- Robbie
- Robbie's wife whatever her name is

Really they should be trying to get the All Star judging line up which is Simon, Cheryl, Danni and Louis. But Tulisa would do it at the drop of a hat let's face it. Mel B would very likely be up for it (also still a high profile name attached to the show), Louis was supposed to have loved it.

Posted by: pippa 25th October 2019, 02:37 PM

They really should have the old judges back.
The ideal panel to pay homage to the days when the show was massive is Simon, Louis, Dannii and Cheryl.
I would accept Sharon in there too.
The X Factor fails to accept, the constant changing of judges has damaged the show.

Little Mix’s show will probably be the more real less scripted one of the two and they have current knowledge on what it takes to be successful in the streaming world.

Simons losing his touch lately. I think Little Mix’s show might do better. X Factor hasn’t produced a star since the streaming era become prominent in the charts.

I’m guessing that all stars has been axed because of the lack of stars they got to sign up though. An all star series would’ve worked like
5 year ago though when the show was still in a pretty decent-ish place. I’m relieved it’s not going ahead in a sense.

That could be a factor, but by the time the XF version airs people will already be fatigued of XF for another year, and the brand itself is constantly dwindling anyway. Little Mix's will be fresh, new, on the BBC, and they'll have a lot more support behind them from fans etc.

Little Mix have been plugging it on tour too, so I assume people will remember it and make a point of watching when it starts / is promoted.

So they’re expecting to turn round a show in one month? Why is anyong going to care about who wins after they’ve known them for one week?

I saw that but simon himself said in the sun it will have live shows in Birmingham Arena a week long in December.

Posted by: ThePensmith 4th November 2019, 04:12 PM

What an absolute hot mess this show and indeed the whole format has turned into. It's literally the pop reality TV equivalent of a crazy ex-boyfriend or girlfriend going around after being dumped loudly proclaiming to anyone who'll listen that they're fine, whilst engaging in behaviour that suggests they quite patently aren't.

Simon has been trailing this now axed All Stars series since the start of this year. This fakakta yabbering onto Dan Wootton that he had the idea before Little Mix decided to do their show for the BBC is as false and staged as this show has been for the last six/seven years of its existence. And his glib declarations about how clued up he is about K-pop is beyond embarrassing.

One thing that Cheryl said about him in an interview years ago is absolutely spot on. When something's not working, he wants no part of it and/or dismisses it ever happening to begin with. When something good is happening that he's not got full involvement with, he wants to take the credit or try and outdo it with a knock off version that misses the point completely. I point you all in the direction of Girl Thing who he tried (and failed) to launch in 2000 after the Spice Girls happened.

It's probably going to anyway given how low ratings for Celebrity have been but I really hope this comes back and bites him on the backside. Poetic justice indeed.

Plus why not just give an already established band a shot and help them get their name out there? There’s absolutely no way he’s going to put together a group in a week and them last a week afterwards. kink.gif

Posted by: Klaus 4th November 2019, 06:25 PM

If he thinks he’s making a successful group in one month, he’s deluded.

It’s as though he’s trying to kill the competition (The Masked Singer, Little Mix) by killing his own show.

And the fact he’s acting as if it’s an original idea when Popstars: The Rivals did it years ago

Posted by: Neil 4th November 2019, 06:27 PM

The fact they're turning this around so quickly just reeks of desperation. Shame about All Stars, I was looking forward to that - in fact I think it's exactly what the format needed to remind people why they liked it so much in the first place.

Posted by: Tombo 4th November 2019, 08:04 PM

This is absolutely ridiculous. I am apalled!

I was so looking forward to seeing ex contestants return for All Stars.

Luckily the article says "There is every possibility next year there could be three X Factor shows — Celebrity, All Stars and another group show." so at least maybe it will still air next year.

It seem ridiculous to be launching a band when he has literally put together V5 on the celebrity version so what is the point in that if they are gonna be creating new groups next month?

I seriously doubt that he has any chance of getting the Christmas number one with the winning band.

Posted by: Jordan Lee 4th November 2019, 09:48 PM

I think X Factor needs a two year break tbh.

Bring it back in 2022 or even 2023 but it would fare better if they put it on hiatus then brought it back in a few year down the line with a fresher feel to it.

We don’t want an all stars version we just want a decent X Factor series.

How incredibly embarrassing.

I echo everyone else, I was looking forward to some familiar faces.

Posted by: troylovesmusic 5th November 2019, 10:58 AM

It just comes across as petty trying to get one over Little Mix . The Band idea could have waited and happened some time next year if he really wanted to do it especially as he’s got a few groups on the Celebrity Version ( No Love Lost and V5 in particular) that have potential to do decently.

Posted by: pippa 5th November 2019, 07:10 PM

I was truly looking forward to All Stars and i am very disappointed it is not happening.
It is understandable why previous contestants do not want to do it, like us, they see that X Factor is passed its sell by date.

Posted by: Jonjo 5th November 2019, 11:06 PM

It's ridiculous that he's doing this and it's very, VERY clear that it's all in spite and nothing else. He needs to take a break. He's in full panic mode and it's ruining and killing the show completely.

Is it bad of me to admit it's quite hilarious to watch? Hilarious but also when you consider the level the show was at 10 years ago quite a fall from grace. It's going to take one almighty bounce back for him to recover from this but this is of his own undoing.

Also... why say biggest boy group or biggest girl group. If anything there’s a gap in the market for a mixed group in my opinion. I wonder how many people will actually apply for though theres hardly any time to rehearse for them.

I'm sure nearly everyone who 'auditions' will be scouted.

Posted by: lewistgreen 6th November 2019, 10:30 PM

I’m actually surprised this has never reared its head before now under this format considering Popstars and Popstars: The Rivals gave us some of the biggest bands in the history of pop. I’m intrigued by it, but also feel like it’s just going to fall flat on its arse ratings wise.

Yeah me too, I mean yeah it's got bad enough with Celebrity but at least we've had Megan, V5, Victoria, Kevin, who have taken it seriously, as well as Jenny who it's been lovely to see grow in confidence and enjoy it. Plus as much as it's been a total mess and a joke thanks to acts like Vinnie and Martin even being there let alone lasting so long, they had the right idea in theory with a number of the contestants, it's just the voting and results were a shambles and it just careened off course to the point of being a joke off of that laugh.gif

The fact they've rushed this out just to spite Little Mix, even Louis can't be arsed, there's only 4 episodes, it makes me wonder how much worse it'll get to the point where I'm actually curious enough to check it out.

Posted by: Jordan Lee 11th December 2019, 07:24 PM

They got this and Celeb the wrong way round.

Someone else said this and I agree laugh.gif

With the Celeb version we know them (well we’re supposed to) so it takes less time for us to get invested in people we already know. If you like someone anyways you’ll support them. That should’ve been the four episode long series and the band should’ve been the longer series over a period of weeks where you get invested in the members. Have like three shows of boys, three shows of girls or something idk.

Also that Tallia storm was so set up. Like she’d have auditioned had she not been guaranteed to get through. I feel for any girl who’s in a band with her if she gets in. She acts like she’s on Madonna’s level of fame already laugh.gif laugh.gif also surely there’s a gap in the market for a mixed group. Why limit and make it boy group or girl group.

Meh. It wasn’t bad but the show itself has just lost the sense of fun and in escapable TV it once had.
It used to be my favourite thing to watch. Even during the week I’d always be on social media seeing what the contestants were singing that week, looking at the themes each week. Now even when it’s actually on I’m not that invested in it. It’s a bit like I’m watching it out of habit. I really feel a break would do the brand a whole load of good.

To be fair, their original plan was to have X-Factor: All-Stars so the short run probably made sense then. It doesn't with the band idea, but it was literally slapped together at the last minute because they needed to get something to the air.

1.45m is a disaster for any primetime show, let alone... this. Shocked it’s got one more series - if the show was an artist signed to Syco, it would have been dropped years ago!

Wouldnt shock me if he done it before the ones he’s been caught for too and it being young kids from when he worked in Spain.

Im surprised he admitted it as I’m sure he was denying it not long ago but it seems like he had to with all the proof of what was there. I had strange vibes off him when he was on the show tbh not thinking he was anything like what he was but he did come off very insincere and a bit forced. The coke video what went round of him too added to that as well.

The only thing I’m worried about with tonight and the post-Show success of the winning group is the lack of a connection they’re going to have with the public? Not only will there be a lack of group chemistry, we’re not going to be able to warm to them like we would have done on a normal show. I’ll be shocked if any success comes from this at all.

However, I am here for a stomping bop of a winning single! No ballads please Simon x

I didn't watch the show and didn't hear any of the band members sing. But when the groups were both put together, I looked at the pictures of both groups and girls looked so much better. This might be a shallow approach to evaluating groups, but I remember back when they put One Direction together. The first time I saw a picture of them from Spain, I knew Simon had a real moneymaker there. The boyband that they put together for this show just didn't have the look.

Anyway, I'm watching the performances right now and the girls sound really good.

Only because very few people are watching and even fewer are voting! The British public just gave us Boris Johnson, sooo.

A girl group winning when they have this show on against Little Mix's and just lost Little Mix from their roster, hmm, call me cynical but that is quite neat for them...

Posted by: WhoChristmassy 16th December 2019, 12:31 AM

Well it was 50/50 and the girl group were definitely much better laugh.gif

Posted by: Liаm 16th December 2019, 12:32 AM

Just seen the girls' performance, that was great! I think considering they barely had any time to get it together and gel as a group, they actually seem to have real potential. Real Like You is an absolutely terrible name but then Little Mix is hardly a great name and that didn't stop them.

I'd not be surprised if they barely bothered with them tbh though given the low viewing figures laugh.gif It doesn't help it was all rushed through, so they're not gonna have a recorded song to put out fresh from their win. Maybe waiting til January will be better to launch I guess

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 16th December 2019, 12:45 AM

Is their single not going straight to release?

I was thinking the same *eyes*

As soon as I'd read that they had an original and the boys didn't, I kinda knew they'd won laugh.gif I feel like the focus was all on the girl group with this, right from the start (and it kinda bugs me just coz I know it's done out of spite and not necessarily coz Simon wants them to be a success or whatever - but this could def be the cynic in me laugh.gif)

But hey, I really like the girls song! They have a lot of potential and more girl bands is a good thing for me! biggrin.gif (Especially as rn LM are the only ones really doing anything and they won't be doing it forever).

Very excited to hear more from these girls.

Also in regards to the name of the group, pretty sure 90-95% of all groups names are horrific aha!

Posted by: Cameron 16th December 2019, 07:28 AM

I mean Simon doesn’t really have any big UK acts left on his label... So I can imagine him at least trying an era with the girls. Also wouldn’t be surprised if Leona signed back to Syco.

Posted by: TomHo 16th December 2019, 04:19 PM

It is really weird that they don't have a winner's single. Surely I thought they would have released the song Kelli wrote as they performed it twice on the show.

The first time they performed it together, it was amazing and definitely seemed like a winning performance.

I liked the boys too, they had some really good singers.

Megan didn't seem to really have a proper winner's single on the celebrity version either.

Posted by: ThePoguesmith 16th December 2019, 05:11 PM

Just 1.7m tuned in for the final of this last night. Ding dong, the show is dead.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 17th December 2019, 01:55 AM

Those figures are bad for a prime time sunday night slot.actyally they are bad full stop.

Posted by: Botchia 18th December 2019, 11:25 PM

And yet despite those ridiculously low numbers, ITV have agreed to have another series next year lmao (presumably of the regular series). If that series flops, it's hard to see it surviving beyond that. At least this year it has the spin-offs excuse.

I think bgt plays a massive part tbh in X factor being renewed

Posted by: Liаm 19th December 2019, 12:16 AM

Was it not renewed until 2020 anyway prior to Celebrity and The Band flopping? I do think it was BGT though, they seem have a deal with Simon that includes both shows. I think they should just do All Stars and then bow out for sure because it's such an embarrassing decline.

Yup. Spend the next six months negotiating with notable X-Factor contestants, do a proper All-Star and just bow out. The X-Factor formula of doing things have become outdated with streaming anyway.

I agree, it would be the best way to go and possibly bring the show back with a brand new and fresh format in about 5 years time.

Posted by: pippa 19th December 2019, 04:53 PM

I think it is the only way X Factor will draw some decent viewing figures by doing a good All Stars Show.
That said, i cant see it happening, some of the winners alone have been treated badly.
Returning to a show that isnt a ratings success anymore is a risk and acts like Little Mix and Olly Murs wont risk taking part as they dont need to.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 7th February 2020, 06:44 PM

(wasn't sure where to post this, went here as it's the most recent series)

The Sun are reporting that The X Factor will be rested for a year - to return in 2021.

Posted by: LMLou 7th February 2020, 06:51 PM

I think its gonna need a longer rest than a year if they want the return to have any success

Posted by: Jordan Lee 7th February 2020, 07:13 PM

This is good news tbh.

I don’t want to see it axed but the XF we got last year was horrible to watch tbh. Having time off screens will hopefully give time to buck ideas up and hopefully take things back to a format what’s uncomplicated.

Posted by: lewistgreen 7th February 2020, 07:45 PM

I wonder what ITV will fill the time slot with tbh as there’ll be no BGT Champions either so they’ve got 12 weeks to fill pretty much

Posted by: Liаm 7th February 2020, 07:58 PM

I honestly just think it won't come back laugh.gif

Potentially Masked Singer S2?

Or maybe an entirely new show! Intrigued to see what it is though.

Posted by: kye 7th February 2020, 08:00 PM

i can’t see past a second series of the masked singer tbh

Agreed smile.gif The show has been a smash and I can see a 2nd series in the XF slot, before it moves there permanently next year for Series 3

Posted by: ThePensmith 8th February 2020, 12:09 AM

Unsurprising. I think Masked Singer will undoubtedly go in its place given it's surprising success. Either that or ITV are about to find out the hard way what it's like to have the losing side for the first time in over a decade.

Posted by: tommie 8th February 2020, 01:54 AM

Yeah, in the US The Masked Singer is now in its third (!) season despite just launching last spring. The producers are clearly going to milk that one.

With that said, either Simon needs to put on a good final season or completely revamp the format to modernize it with the streaming taken into account (then again - why not do an entirely new format?).

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 17th February 2020, 04:07 PM

X Factor needs a huge change as it just came so stale. I really think they were so lazy with the themes repeating the themes over and over again which reuslted with the same songs always getting used. They had so many choices to change that. I used to enjoy when they would do a Take That week or a Madonna week and have the artist there. I also think they really need to realise the show isnt about the judging panel and in the later years it all seemed about the judges more than the contestants. They also need someone who isnt afraid to really criticse performances on the show, the comments Simon had for Vinnie Jones on the celerity version for example were just pathetic as he couldn't sing but going by simon and all the other comments you would think he had the voice of Mariah Carey.

What even happened to the girl band? I actually thought their winning song was pretty good and they didn’t even release it.

Posted by: Jordan Lee 3rd May 2020, 12:34 PM

I’m thinking they could’ve been planning to have the girl band come back with a brand new single debuted on BGT live shows but now that’s been postponed who knows.

They have potential though but I get the feeling Kelly Marie (was that her name the main writer in the group) may have better success on her own as opposed to being in a band.

Yeah agreed she wrote good songs.

I guess they are all young enough to stick together and do something when this is all over

Posted by: troylovesmusic 3rd May 2020, 11:07 PM

There still together Real Like You the girl group I follow them on Instagram and they do Insta lives quite a lot and post pictures and videos but obviously there’s only so much they can do with what’s going on right now .

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 4th May 2020, 03:32 PM

I wonder had any songs been drawn down before everything happened and was there plans in place for a single?

Posted by: Alex P 4th May 2020, 05:58 PM

I think it would have been worthwhile getting a song out at any point in the past few months. A big promotional campaign isn’t really needed these days and they definitely needed something out there to keep them in the publics mind.

Why their winning song wasn’t released is beyond me given it was quite good.

Posted by: lewistgreen 4th May 2020, 08:51 PM

They certainly look like they’re gearing up for something now!
