With a possible duet with Robbie Williams:

Not sure about the re-release, if there is enough new material, I'll buy it, otherwise I'll pass.

the Robbie duet is for Robbies own album

The album went Gold in the UK, why not re-release? laugh.gif I do love this album.

Posted by: liamk97 6th September 2016, 04:04 PM

I was expecting her to at least re-promote this Christmas so a re-release is not a surprise. I don't think it'll out-do the first chart performance or end up being a release that returns every year like Michael Buble's album, but I think it'll easily return and stay Top 40 over the course of Christmas.

Posted by: pippa 6th September 2016, 05:13 PM

She could add a bonus DVD of the concert she did last year which was wonderful in addition to 2-3 new songs.

Posted by: Regina 6th September 2016, 05:15 PM

FFS.

Posted by: pippa 7th September 2016, 01:16 PM

The downside of a re-release by Kylie is she has never really pulled a good re-release off. In the past her re-releases have largely gone un-noticed. I really feel they missed the boat completely on the Fever re-release and likewise with Ultimate Kylie.

It will be very interesting to see how she promotes the album this Christmas, without good promotion again it could get very lost in the Christmas releases. I would hope she can get a slot on Strictly or the X Factor at the least. To Kylie's credit she did lots of promotion for the album last year and it worked as the album sold over 100,000 in a 7-8 week frame.

Posted by: slowdown73 7th September 2016, 08:33 PM

Ultimate Kylie was re-released? I don't recall that. I agree they missed the boat with the reissues of Light years and Fever.

Looking forward to seeing what extras will be included on Kylie Christmas. Maybe the SAW remix of Every day's like Christmas plus a few new songs and a DVD. It's a great album so I'll probably buy it again.

Posted by: Regina 7th September 2016, 08:56 PM

It was only re-released in Australia to go with the Homecoming tour I think. All it had was a new cover and the video DVD with it.

Her re-releases were never really "let's attack the charts" tbh, more "here's a few nice remixes and b-sides". This is the first time she's actually gone and added brand new songs.

Posted by: liamk97 7th September 2016, 11:48 PM

Back in the day, I'm sure re-releases were only a thing to either mark an anniversary, for if the original release flopped or to add a couple of remixes/B-sides that fans may like, as Regina said. Nowadays, it's usually done to capitalise on the success of an era because the album market is in such a low state that it's hard to get multiple big selling albums, or to bridge the gap between the end of the album's original campaign and the release of the next album, because it's hard to remain relevant if you have so much as a year's break from the limelight.

It's not like she's rinsing it though year after year like Buble? There are still sales to be had and it gives us some new songs and promo while we wait for a new studio album

This is a bit of a moot point, considering this upcoming Christmas will only be its second Christmas in existence! kink.gif

With a re-release planned, she's already following in the footsteps of Michael, who also re-released his Xmas album a year following its original release. So that could be taken as being an indication that Kylie would like 'Kylie Christmas' to be an annual thing. I wouldn't blame her if she wants to milk it for all it's worth, given that it did pretty well for her last year.

I'm personally not opposed to the re-release, in fact I'd welcome it if it includes a DVD of her Royal Albert Hall concert!

Posted by: pippa 8th September 2016, 01:20 PM

I am not opposed to the re-release, i am actually happy to see her really pushing an album for a change as i dont think she has done this for a while. Buble did a re-release but to his credit the album is selling naturally ever since. Buble hasnt promoted it the last 2 years and it has still managed to sell extremely well in the Christmas period.

Jay i am with you, i would welcome a DVD release of the Albert Hall Concert as in honesty it was only when i watched the concert i got more into her Christmas album. I also loved the updated versions of the songs (non-Christmas) she performed and i loved her rendition of I Wish it Could Be Christmas Every Day.

A DVD inclusion, the Robbie duet (which surely will be a proper single) and 2-3 other songs would persuade me to purchase the album for a second time.

Posted by: Regina 8th September 2016, 03:20 PM

We don't know the Robbie duet is for the Christmas album though. I hope it's not, she had enough features on it as it was.

Posted by: pippa 8th September 2016, 04:02 PM

Good point, i just assumed the Robbie duet was recorded and it was for the re-release.

laugh.gif I thought that after I posted it but Buble had a huge album in his first year where as Kylie 'only' sold 100k so I don't blame her for going after the lucrative Christmas market for a 2nd attempt as there are still sales to be had and she's well aware a new studio album would struggle in Q4.

I think she could get equally as big sales this year with some great promo.

Posted by: pippa 9th September 2016, 02:10 PM

The Christmas album keeps her in the spotlight which helps when she releases the new studio album. If Kylie releases her new studio album at the right time she could achieve another number 1 album.

Posted by: slowdown73 9th September 2016, 11:09 PM

Kylie's album sales are still relatively good when you compare them to other artists like Britney who has dropped 2-41 this week.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 10th September 2016, 10:52 PM

Ya i agree, while i was disappointed that kiss me once didnt sell more its done brilliantly comparing to Britney.

Posted by: Regina 10th September 2016, 11:00 PM

But Britney has done something Kylie hasn't managed for nearly a decade, she's taken her sound and evolved it to not only be different but modern and managed to not sound trend chasing. She didn't play it safe and as a result is getting amazing reviews for it.

You mean BS has taken a different approach to audio-edit her "can't sing" voice?

Posted by: slowdown73 11th September 2016, 09:59 AM

I don't like the new Britney album. Its the first one I haven't bought. Her voice sounds awful and is better suited to generic pop ie. Max Martin. Kylie has a much better voice than Britney anyway and what I liked about Kylie Christmas was some of the songs showed a real mature sound.

Posted by: mr_pmt 11th September 2016, 10:37 AM

To be fair, with Britney's new album it's the first time she's sounded actually human in a decade.

Posted by: Regina 11th September 2016, 10:48 AM

Can we cut this bullshit "Britney can't sing" tearing down one singer to make another one look better thing out right now?
Glory shits over Kiss Me Once and most of Aphrodite. Kylie ha sbeen doing safe watered down pop for too long and needs to change it up, Britney DID change it up
and it payed off.

"KMO did better than Britney's new one" doesn't change the fact that it is still one of Kylie's worst performing albums, dropped like a stone and had no hits on it.

Posted by: Joe. 11th September 2016, 11:22 AM

Also, Kylie gets support in the UK, a lot from radio 2, one of the biggest stations for album sales and does promo here too. Britney hasn't been touched by mainstream radio for years and never comes here either.

Without commercial support or promotion, Britney's sales are pretty much 99% from fans alone, whereas Kylie, whilst still having lots of fans, gets some casual support too.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 11th September 2016, 11:09 PM

Kylie does have some casual support or the Christmas album would not have sold as well as it did and likewise Into the Blue would not have got as high as number 12, while it wasnt a huge hit it was a hit nonetheless. Into the Blue also managed a top 10 position (number 9) here in Ireland which was much higher peak than quiet a few of her singles here. Into the Blue was a far bigger hit than Britneys recent one in the UK.

Im not slagging Britney to make Kylie look better, each to their own, i did like some of Britneys earlier work but i have said this many many times, Britneys constant miming on shows, concerts etc put me right off her, going to a live concert for someone to mime is pathetic for me and i just lost all interest in her. I also havnt enjoyed anything from her in years.

While Kiss me once was a disappointing album i liked into the blue as a song (not up there with her best singles) i also loved les kiss and and liked the title track.

Posted by: pippa 12th September 2016, 01:21 PM

With all things considered Kylie is still managing to sell much better than many other acts from her own era and some who followed after. Kylie is just as relevant as Madoona, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, U2, Mariah Carey etc.

I am fully aware the named artists have bigger American careers but that was never a country that Kylie really did well in. From the artists i listed, Kylie's Kiss Me Once album sold more than the last albums from the listed singers and Kylie's Christmas Album in particular well out sold them.

Each album is individual tastes by any artist, in my own opinion Britney's new material is awful but i am aware there are many who love it. Kiss me Once was not Kylie's best album by a long stretch but it was not awful either.

So...not relevant at all.

Posted by: pippa 12th September 2016, 04:50 PM

Relevant can be debated, but Kylie has remained relevant to her fans if nothing else, otherwise we would not be even discussing her.

Posted by: Regina 12th September 2016, 05:22 PM

That goes without saying though, everyone is relevant to their fans laugh.gif

Posted by: pippa 12th September 2016, 08:07 PM

With Kylie still keeping a large fanbase. I still firmly believe the Christmas album was purchased by casual customers rather than just Kylie fans.

Posted by: Regina 12th September 2016, 08:23 PM

"large" fanbase. Okay.

Posted by: pippa 14th September 2016, 02:31 PM

Do we know the date of the re-release?

Posted by: Joe. 14th September 2016, 02:42 PM

Kylie did HUGE promo for the Christmas album. She was on every big promo slot. I actually think given she was on Strictly, Graham Norton, Royale Variety, John Bishop, TOTP, heavy R2 support, the sales were slightly under what they should have been. I think it will sell this year though. I really hope she pops up for a performance or 2.

Posted by: pippa 15th September 2016, 01:36 PM

It is important she promotes again this year to attract casual buyers and i would believe its something she will do. It would be wonderful if she could sell in the same quantities as she did last year.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 16th September 2016, 12:42 AM

I think the quality of the re-release will determine how well it might do, if we get a proper re-release with extra songs and hopefully the dvd from last Christmas show it may do very well, im looking forward to see what additional material will be added.

Posted by: Mullo 7th October 2016, 02:52 PM

For some reason Kylie Christmas has re-entered the Irish chart at #11 this week! Can't figure out why!

Posted by: Rob Spears 7th October 2016, 06:08 PM

Surely some sort of mistake?

Posted by: pippa 7th October 2016, 06:38 PM

I am just after seeing this link as well, to my understanding many of the hmv/xtra vision shops are closing at the moment in Ireland and cd's are selling extremely cheap to clear the stock.

I looked up the Irish Charts and there is a tonne of re-entries and huge climbers so this reason looks valid. It is wonderful to see the album get a new peak almost a year after its release.

Shawn Mendes was the number 1 album in Ireland last week and i see it has dropped to number 63, must be one of the biggest falls from number 1 in any chart around the world.

Posted by: mr_pmt 7th October 2016, 11:00 PM

New peak in Ireland? f*** me.

What was its original peak again?

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 7th October 2016, 11:07 PM

14 was the original peak,a new peak is great but itsca shame it's just missed the top 10.

The album is number 35 here in Ireland this week down 24 places. Still great seeing it on the chart and hopefully it will stay this coming week as well.

Wonderful it remains on the chart giving the album a better chart run for Ireland.

I'm strangely excited by 'Stay Another Day' and 'Everybody's Free'.

Posted by: Qween 26th October 2016, 09:48 PM

Stay Another Day and Wonderful Christmastime should both be fab, the latter I can finally listen to without wanting to CLAW MY EARS OFF upon realisation that McCuntney is bringing me some level of joy.

I would be happier for it to be Rozalla and i would have an interest to see how she covers it.

Called Kylie Christmas – Snow Queen Edition. Out on November 25th. The Mika duet is the first promo single. No date for that yet that I can find.

Posted by: pippa 27th October 2016, 08:18 PM

She is doing the promo route single approach again by the looks of things rather than going with an actual single.

The new Robbie duet isn't there so it must be for Kylie's new studio album as the rumoured duet does not appear on the track-listing for Robbie;s album either.

Posted by: Regina 27th October 2016, 08:23 PM

Robbie said he's releasing it sometime in 2017. And it's a confirmed duet.

Im still hoping it will have the dvd of the royal albert hall concert.

Also i think November 25th is far to late to release it, i think it should have been released mid november at the latest. I wonder will the original album pick up sales before the re-release hits the shelves.

Posted by: pippa 1st November 2016, 03:23 PM

The earlier the release the better for Christmas albums as they have such a limited shelf life. I would think it should be released now.

Posted by: slowdown73 1st November 2016, 07:39 PM

I doubt the reissue will do that well. It will be mostly fans who buy it. Kylie is in a different market to the likes of Buble. She will need a lot of promotion for this to do well and from what I've read the promotion will be scaled back significantly this year.

Posted by: Rob Spears 1st November 2016, 08:57 PM

I'm not buying the whole album again, but I will cherry pick the new tracks.

Posted by: pippa 1st November 2016, 09:06 PM

If she has scaled back the promotion it is likely the album will not do too well in the charts. I will re purchase it myself if it has the DVD that i long for but if not i will only be cherry picking too.

ANyway, the cover

No doubt her hair is parted the wrong way or she is wrong for advertising sugar...

01 It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
02 Santa Claus Is Coming to Town (feat. Frank Sinatra)
03 Winter Wonderland
04 Only You (with James Corden)
05 Stay Another Day
06 Christmas Wrapping (with Iggy Pop)
07 At Christmas
08 I’m Gonna Be Warm This Winter
09 Every Day’s Like Christmas
10 Wonderful Christmastime (with Mika)
11 100 Degrees (with Dannii Minogue)
12 Let It Snow
13 I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday
14 White December
15 2000 Miles
16 Santa Baby
17 Christmas Isn’t Christmas ‘Til You Get Here
18 Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
19 Oh Santa
20 Cried Out Christmas
21 Christmas Lights
22 Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good)

Christmas Lights is the Coldplay song and Stay Another Day is obviously the East 17 classic. I've never heard At Christmas before, so either an obacure cover or new song.

Hopefully this version does get combined with the sales of the original - I'm sure the OCC rules allow two releases of an album to be combined so long as the original tracking list is in the same order as it originally appeared (no matter how the new songs are placed).

I hope that's not the case because if so, this new version would count separately. Only You & Christmas Wrapping have been swapped around, and 100 Degrees has been moved up quite a few positions.

Maybe the rules have changed since 2003, but GA's 'SOTU' re-release had some tracks taken off (and replaced with new ones) and the order of the remaining original tracks was changed slightly, but it was still combined with the original release.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 3rd November 2016, 02:34 AM

I think the sales will be combined with the original release and classed as re-entry when it comes back into the charts. Sia released a deluxe of her album last week and the chart just shows it as having a huge climb rather than a new entry.

Posted by: pippa 3rd November 2016, 01:40 PM

In most cases re-issues are counted in with the original, to mind i cant think of any that were counted separately.

Amy Winehouse

Yeah, there was a couple of years (2007/8) where a lot of re-releases were separated. Back to Black was one (although was since combined following its return to #1 after her death), Michael Buble's Call Me Irresponsible was another. Not exactly sure why that was the case.

I just remember the re-release of David Guetta's Nothing but the Beat (a 2.0 version) being separated and I'm sure the reason given was because the original tracking list wasn't in its original order. I'll try and do some digging.

Posted by: Rob Spears 4th November 2016, 06:47 AM

^^ Yes it was something like that. Possibly a couple of tracks were excluded on the re-release?

Posted by: Mullo 4th November 2016, 11:39 AM

Brand new original track 'At Christmas' will be the single from the new Snow Queen version

Posted by: pippa 4th November 2016, 12:37 PM

On reflection i think Atomic Kitten first album was counted separately when they re-released after Kerry leaving.

Is at Christmas going to be a real single or just a promotional single?

I won't be buying this again, I was barely even supportive of the original release. I'll just acquire the new tracks.

Not with the sticker, or the news of the single

The cover would be amazing if she didn't look like she was in the middle of giving a blowjob whilst on a cocktail of drugs.

Inspired by NatIm's Come to Life clearly.

I think the rule for combining editions is to include all songs from the standard edition in the new one. The track order shouldn't matter.

No, that was more R NAT desperately trying to find an alternate revenue stream.

Posted by: slowdown73 5th November 2016, 10:31 PM

The new cover is cheap and tacky looking - the original was far better and more mature looking for her age. I think the reissue will be lucky to go top20 again unless there is significant promotion. I suspect it will sell overall a fraction of what it did last year. Maybe 20-30k.

Posted by: Regina 5th November 2016, 10:54 PM

And another 20-30K is a bad thing? It's a much larger amount than it would have gotten without a re-release.

Also, in the original cover she's basically in a corset with added aheer material, she's actually wearing more in the new one. It's fun, bright and a bit tacky which is far
more Kylie than the other one.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 6th November 2016, 02:25 AM

I would be happy if it can go top 20 again this time around, its hard to call. The new cover is very tacky, i dont like it.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 6th November 2016, 08:14 AM

The new cover just looks cheap to me.

Posted by: liamk97 6th November 2016, 11:08 AM

I'm sure it's not expected for the album to sell as well or better than last year (although it's not out of the question), but Kylie usually gets very good TV promo and I'd say that would be enough to return to the Top 20. As Regina said, the re-release will allow it to do much better than it would without - I can't think of any Christmas albums that got a second wave of success without one.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 6th November 2016, 06:26 PM

Her promo will likely determine the success of the album, if she does a good bit of promo the album could do well. Also i hope the Christmas concert is televised again this year (ideally on a more mainstream channel as this would really boost sales.

Going from the tv add Everybodys free sound ok but i would have preferred a fast version. Flower would easily fit on the Christmas album based on the version of Everybodys free. Flower is such a great ballad and while i know its not happening adding it to the Christmas album may have brought more fans to it who may have not bought abbey roads.

Yeah, I can only really see a top 75 return for a week or two which it may well have achieved anyway without a re-release. It all seems a bit pointless.

Posted by: Qween 19th November 2016, 04:57 PM

I'm sure the effort and money spent on this re-release is MINIMAL so if it does maybe add 20/25k to the total then that doesn't seem like a bad result. I mean the original outsold KMO as is so it makes sense to try and flog a (cheap, not quite) dead horse.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 19th November 2016, 11:21 PM

She is booked for the X-factor final......

I am hoping the concert maybe shown on main stream TV also maybe BBC1

I can see it selling OK.... some of the songs may do ok too.. like the Boots advert etc...

all depends on how much promo she will do....

Kylie Xmas was 89 on this weeks album sales chart without any promo so it can sell with a few pricing strategies etc

Posted by: mr_pmt 19th November 2016, 11:54 PM

Is she really booked for X-Factor final?

Well I am looking forward to the re-release... biggrin.gif

Posted by: liamk97 20th November 2016, 11:51 AM

I wouldn't be surprised if Kylie was indeed booked for the final. They do seem to like her appearing on the show and they did have Rod Stewart on the final last year - I know Kylie is a bit more relevant with younger audiences than he is, but it shows that it doesn't necessarily need to be just current big names on the final.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 20th November 2016, 03:20 PM

Remember she has been filming a film in Australia. She is due to sing on an X-factor style show in France this coming week and will be UK soon to prepare for her RAH shows.

She will do some promo no doubt and will want all sales from 2015 and 2016 releases of Kylie Xmas to count from next Friday so will do little promo before that...

I am really loving At Christmas!!! Hope we see a video

Posted by: mr_pmt 20th November 2016, 03:58 PM

I still think 'Christmas Isn't Christmas 'Til You Get Here' is crying out to be used in an advert some time. That's emerged as by FAR my favourite of this whole Christmas endeavour, it encapsulates all the essentails for what is required of a great, cheesy feelgood Christmas song.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 20th November 2016, 06:23 PM

Agreed. love Christmas Isnt Christmas

Posted by: Qween 20th November 2016, 06:49 PM

Oh no, it's the WORST of the originals. Every Day's Like Christmas (particularly the remix), 100 Degrees and White December are all STELLAR though.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 20th November 2016, 07:04 PM

I hope its true about her been booked for the X Factor final.

If she promotes Everybodys Free it could chart.

Posted by: Living4Love 21st November 2016, 08:57 AM

She can probably get around top 30-50 if she performs at X Factor. If not it's probably going to be 50-70. She needs to make more promos to get the album higher.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 21st November 2016, 09:34 AM

I am sure it will easily go top 40 on release week. Not selling many on Amazon but her gift wrapped versions from her website will have sold well. Even Kylie's loyal followers will get her 1st week sales of 3k then some extra sales of the 2015 album at 3.99 and 4.99 prices will boost it.

I would presume of she is in France on Thursday that she will be back in UK for Friday's release...... maybe Chris Evans will have her on Radio 2 again....

Kylie Xmas was 165th in UK charts last week, 89th in sales with 800 copies sold.

hear Kylie is on telephone from Australia to BBC Radio 2 breakfast show tomorrow...... lets see if that's true

I think they will just push it on the week of her Christmas concert show and then it's just "wait and see" approach.

Posted by: pippa 21st November 2016, 07:43 PM

I think Kylie will make a top 40 return with the album and climb as she promotes accordingly.

Posted by: mr_pmt 21st November 2016, 08:06 PM

She's premiering 'At Christmas' on Radio 2 tomorrow morning at 8:15... is it going to be a "single" in the same way 'Every Day's Like Christmas' was last year?

Posted by: SmileyKylie 21st November 2016, 09:49 PM

World Premiere of At Christmas from 8.15 on Chris Evans Breakfast Show tomorrow......

Another midweek release from Kylie..... zzzzzzzzzz

may get some extra pre-orders though I suppose

Problem is there are so many big releases on 25th..... she may struggle....

Posted by: Living4Love 22nd November 2016, 06:16 AM

Why can't she just do a Friday release? There's much more chance of charting. At Christmas will probably chart at 150 at most. High chances of not charting at all when it's a midweek release.

Still hoping the boots advert can take off......

Posted by: mr_pmt 22nd November 2016, 06:19 PM

It's pretty terrible. Parts of the backing remind me of S Club 7's 'Reach'.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 22nd November 2016, 09:46 PM

i am now pessimistic for this edition...... not much effort gone into it.... maybe it will just squeeze top 40 as the 2015 version will sell a few copies as cheap.....

she really should go for the Rozalla cover as a single and push it.......

Posted by: Living4Love 23rd November 2016, 05:42 AM

After listening to the new single, I think it won't chart at all. Nowhere in the top 200. The album will be around 30-50.

Posted by: pippa 23rd November 2016, 02:24 PM

The choice of single is wrong, she had much better choices to go with it. Not releasing Everybody's Free is yet another mistake, the approach of choosing singles and how they are released is going from bad to worse. Everybody's Free has the exposure of the Boots add, this combined with a tv performance would have provided Kylie with a much stronger chance of charting with a single and also attracting sales to the new edition of the album.

The Christmas album was handled very well but they fell down and have done the same again this year on getting the single release from the album correct.

Posted by: Qween 23rd November 2016, 02:38 PM

I'm glad she isn't going with Everybody's Free purely based on the fact it sounds awful (based on the Boots) advert. The album sold very nicely last year based on having no hit single, Leona sold about the same of her Christmas album and has a BIG hit single to go along with it in the form of One More Sleep. I honestly think 120k (maybe 150/160k) by the end of this year is an excellent result for her given it's nearly double her last studio album.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 23rd November 2016, 10:31 PM

At Christmas doing nothing at all and no songs playlisted for coming week on Radio 2.

I think we may see a song off the album pushed in a week or two .. the Everybody's Free is only 2 mins 10 seconds long and most of that instrumental so doubt it will be a hit either unless it gets a remix etc

Posted by: slowdown73 23rd November 2016, 11:11 PM

The new song is very disappointing. Her voice sounds awful and the song just isn't anywhere near as strong as most of the tracks on last year's album. The track sounds very dated and like a left over. I really do think the re-release will struggle.

Posted by: slowdown73 24th November 2016, 08:53 PM

Received snow queen edition today from HMV. The Mika collaboration is ok but not keen on the East 17 cover. Overall, the new tracks aren't as strong as the songs from the first edition but nice to get a handful of new songs. Everybody's free is really nice but way too short in length.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 25th November 2016, 12:36 AM

love Stay Another Day

Love Everybodys Free

debuts at 165th on Uk ITunes on release - does not bode well at all ........

needs to have sold a lot of physicals on her website to have a chance of a top 40 next Friday

up to 91st now

and ...... the Royal Albert Hall concert has also been released on ITunes..........

well moved up to 13th ahead of quite a few of her rivals so thats better news..... lets see with lack of 2 CD, vinyl etc may suffer

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 25th November 2016, 02:21 PM

I've just had a listen to all the new tracks, all is well except At Christmas, Everybody's Free (to feel good), and the duet with Mika.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 25th November 2016, 04:22 PM

The new songs are doing ok on ITunes all top 200 and Everybodys Free just breaking top 100..... looks like they are being cherry picked from the album instead of full album which isn't a bad thing

Royal Albert Hall been released on ITunes also - money making and nothing else.... should really have been part of new issue

Posted by: Rob Spears 25th November 2016, 05:40 PM

Love 'Everybody's Free (To Feel Good), but it feels like half the song has been cut.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 25th November 2016, 10:28 PM

up to 89th on ITunes...... not bad seeing as Vaults from John Lewis Advert is down to 99th...

Stay Another Day also climbing nicely.....

Album slipping....

Kylie confirmed for Jonathan Ross Christmas special. airs on 10th December and will be filmed midweek before her concerts take place. Great line up to... Miranda Hart and David Walliams and Paul Hollywood....

then X-factor final on the Sunday?? 11th?

Christmas is the theme for next week on X-factor.... this could be good also for Kylie as they may use some of her album for intros etc.... ? Cowell loves a Minogue....

Posted by: pippa 28th November 2016, 08:28 PM

Sluggish start for the album, Number 33 in today's midweek chart update.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 28th November 2016, 09:21 PM

yes... will be lucky to stay top 50 this week it seems....... will probably sell around 3.5k...... not surprising... not available in many supermarkets, not promoted at all except in core fan base.... only 6 new songs, no dvd or video stuff like behind the scenes etc... only digital and 1 CD version ... very little incentive....

at least she has promo coming up... singing with Mika on Italian TV on 6th dec, J ross in UK on 10th... rumoured X-factor Sunday 11th, concert 9 & 10th. (pretty sure this will also make a TV appearance before Xmas) and French dancing with Stars final on 16th Dec confirmed......

definitely will be some price promos also no doubt.........

sold 1.2k last week so I think that is 108.5k total...... lets hope it gets over 125-130k after 2016

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 29th November 2016, 12:30 AM

It will probably drop through out the week and end up top 50, hopefully as she promotes the album will climb and at the least manage 25k in its run this year.

Posted by: pippa 29th November 2016, 02:25 PM

Number 37 in today's mid-week chart information, down 3 places from yesterdays update.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 30th November 2016, 02:05 AM

It would be great if it could hang on in the top 40 but its probably unlikely.

Posted by: Qween 30th November 2016, 06:37 AM

Top 50 for a re-release still at the tail end of November isn't that bad a result. Top 40 would have been nicer obviously but the promo nearer to the day might help shunt it up there.

Is this the first time a Kylie re-release has managed to re-enter the charts, re-releases of Fever and Light Years failed to do so to my knowledge and i dont know what other albums she re-released.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 30th November 2016, 04:17 PM

That's flop-tastic !

Posted by: mr_pmt 30th November 2016, 06:02 PM

There isn't much incentive to buy this beyond hardcore collectors... well, even I haven't bothered.

Posted by: pippa 30th November 2016, 08:43 PM

True but the casual buyer who did not buy it last year may purchase this year, it has potential and may pick up in the coming days/weeks once promotion comes into play.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 1st December 2016, 12:10 AM

Im hoping she will at some stage when she does promo, all her promo slots last year resulted in a climb.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 1st December 2016, 11:13 AM

She sings AT Christmas on Jonathan Ross. was filmed yesterday and will be shown on Saturday 10th.... looks like she is sticking with getting a single this year which is good.

I predict a video and At Christmas remixes EP will drop next Friday as a warm up for her concerts on Friday and Saturday.... fans buy it to get it up the ITunes charts and then its promo on J Ross and if rumours true on Xfactor on Sunday as good promo..... on a theory but I really think some kind of single push will happen this time

At Christmas is also Song of the week on BBC Radio 2 playlist

She is definatley going for a top 40 hit with this..... just needs streaming increased

Santa Baby has now eased into top 250 on ITunes and also inside top 200 on Spotify which is great.....

I think her Christmas Wrapping is also on a main Christmas playlist on Spotify and collecting good streaming

Posted by: pippa 2nd December 2016, 01:20 PM

I sometimes think, would performing Santa Baby and pushing it to finally enter the top 75 be a better move for her to get a single into the charts and also attract album sales. Santa Baby has sold reasonably well and sold more than some of her singles that have charted in a higher position and this why i am starting to believe it is worth promoting.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 2nd December 2016, 01:31 PM

Santa Baby into top 100 on Spotify with 60,000+ streams

top 200 on ITunes....

Kids also at 166 on UK Spotify with 41,000 streams thanks to being added to 'Throw Back Thursday' list

Album continues to suffer with no promo...... could get lost this next week.......

Posted by: SmileyKylie 2nd December 2016, 05:46 PM

Number 41 this week..... Official Charts have used the old CD cover for the re-entry......... doubt it will stay top 75 this week unless she drops price and does some promo but I think most promo geared for week starting 9th Dec...

Posted by: pippa 2nd December 2016, 07:00 PM

It is annoying for the album to miss the top 40 by 1 position. That said, it is wonderful to see the album back in the charts and with sales of around 5,500.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 2nd December 2016, 07:13 PM

Military Wives were at 42nd with 5812 so I expect Kylie Christmas sold 6k..... not too bad for mid November.... now can she push it in the coming weeks?

Kylie on French TV right now and she looks STUNNING. She performed Night Fever

Posted by: mr_pmt 2nd December 2016, 08:30 PM

Probably more like about 112,000.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 2nd December 2016, 10:48 PM

I'm hoping it can make a top 40 return with some extensive promo, but to be honest it probably didn't even need this re-release. I can honestly say I like none of the new tracks even remotely. sad.gif

Posted by: slowdown73 3rd December 2016, 12:21 AM

For a reissue with very little promotion, 6k is better than I was expecting. I can't see it making much of a recovery though unless there is more promotion.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 3rd December 2016, 02:51 AM

So near but yet so far at number 41, its sales are better than i thought though.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 3rd December 2016, 08:12 AM

it was probably Snow Queen 4k, 2015 version 2k.......

luckily its all called Kylie Christmas so its not an album that missed the top 40........ smile.gif

the problem is the supermarkets don't seem to be stocking it this year after massive promo with Tesco last year

Still think we will see an At Christmas Remixes EP drop next Friday

Posted by: mr_pmt 3rd December 2016, 10:06 AM

21 copies away from the top 40 apparently.

It's not a huge deal for me, like was said I consider it just an extension to its chart run rather than a seperate charting #41 album.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 3rd December 2016, 09:22 PM

21 copies and most likely streaming cost her a top 40 return, i am happy this is been registered as a reentry than a new album, chart records will show this as an extended chart run.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 4th December 2016, 09:42 AM

Santa Baby as always going well...... up to jumped from 103rd to 72nd on Spotify streaming yesterday with 81,000 streams!!!! looks like it may return to the official Charts top 150 this week......

Posted by: Joe. 4th December 2016, 04:02 PM

They've added 'At Christmas' to the X Factor Talk Talk sponsor adds.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 4th December 2016, 04:25 PM

for tonight's show??????

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 4th December 2016, 05:20 PM

The album isnt top 100 here in Ireland this week cry.gif its disappointing considering she was has number as number 11 with a new peak for the album just a few weeks ago.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 4th December 2016, 06:31 PM

BREAKING NEWS.... Kylie in UK album charts this week..... 31st best seller in downloads, 44th in physicals....... combined 41st..... not in top 100 for streaming

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 4th December 2016, 09:54 PM

That would indicate she may stay top 100 this week huh.gif

Has it???? On Sunday 11th? Where is it confimed please?

Posted by: SmileyKylie 5th December 2016, 04:21 PM

Kylie Xmas top 70 in todays midweeks..... not bad seeing all the new album releases.... lets hope she can climb a few spots as promo kicks in... but likely this weekend is going to be her moment of sales...... with some price promo etc and tv promo

Kylie confirmed at 69th in the midweeks, everyones favourite position

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 6th December 2016, 12:02 AM

She should stay top 100 based on that and with promo on the way it should help the album climb. A good X Factor final performance should help her.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 6th December 2016, 09:45 AM

CONFIRMED: Xfactor on 11th December

BIG PROMO WEEKEND....... concerts 9 & 10th, J Ross 10th, X-factor 11th

Posted by: pippa 6th December 2016, 02:23 PM

If this doesnt boost sales nothing will.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 7th December 2016, 09:26 AM

confirmed. Kylie, The Weeknd and Little Mix performing on X-factor.

Album now low 70's in midweeks....

Posted by: pippa 7th December 2016, 02:06 PM

Is Kylie one of the duets?

Posted by: SmileyKylie 7th December 2016, 02:08 PM

no because 5the duets are usually on Saturday and she has her concerts to do.... so will be Sunday.

rumours are she is mentoring the finalists too

Here she is on Italian TV on Mika show

At Christmas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjsRTBk-hvg

Posted by: Rob Spears 7th December 2016, 06:33 PM

She will probably sing 'At Christmas' which will be her third wasted opportunity performing on TXF.

Posted by: mr_pmt 7th December 2016, 07:57 PM

Well it makes sense if she does, as it is the single. Shame it's an embarrassingly bad song though.

Posted by: pippa 7th December 2016, 09:35 PM

She should sing i wish it could be Christmas Everyday as it was amazing in the Christmas concert she did.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 7th December 2016, 10:57 PM

I think she is going for the single to do well ..... she has the promo all lined up in the same week..... and the right promo for all ages..... she just needs a good reaction... they obviously like the song... it got put on the album at the last minute etc... its from the same writers of Get Outta My Way no? which is my favourite Kylie song... it is Xmas cheese.....

what it needs is a video and an EP to be released on Friday to give it a ITunes chart boost before promo

Posted by: SmileyKylie 8th December 2016, 09:45 AM

kylie did a gig at The Ivy in London..... nice intimate Xmas gig with Alan Carr and co ......

good media promo today

now A-listed on BBC Radio 2 for next week
Live performance on Facebook at 5.30pm - Warner UK have tweeted
Jonathan Ross Xmas Special Performance - Saturday 10th
X-factor Performance - 11th December
2 gigs at Royal Albert Hall - 9th & 10th Dec

If she cant get her 50th top 40 hit with this song then.......

+ will we get a video tomorrow or even a remixes EP? ready for start of chart week.......

Posted by: pippa 8th December 2016, 03:07 PM

Even with all that promotion i sadly cant see the song making the top 40. The album should benefit and start climbing.

Posted by: Qween 8th December 2016, 04:17 PM

I'd be VERY happy with top 75 for it, though I think it's more likely to be around #90-120.

Posted by: pippa 8th December 2016, 04:42 PM

Low Top 100 would be the best i would have my expectations for this single.

Sales maybe, but streaming will kill her so I think around #88.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 9th December 2016, 08:11 AM

She has defo done At Christmas for Jonathan Ross as it is pre-recorded last week,

As for x-factor I am hoping for an a 5-6 min Xmas medley....... maybe Stay Another Day into At Christmas into Everybody's Free

she is also mentoring x-factor stuff I think so could get a album songs a boost

as for streaming.... - only needs to be added to a few big Spotify Xmas play lists and grabs the streams

Posted by: SmileyKylie 9th December 2016, 10:21 AM

Sadly looks like no EP, no video......

cant even find the album in most shops...

Kylie looks like just fleecing fans of their money at her pop-up shop with £10 baubles and £15 CDs....... and then the concerts this weekend

very sad again....

Posted by: Tinasha 9th December 2016, 10:26 AM

It won't go top 40 unless they add the song to the Christmas Playlists on Spotify. Is she on any of those?

Posted by: SmileyKylie 9th December 2016, 10:57 AM

the effort is not great....

if she had released an EP of remixes and a video fans would have bought again this week + the crossover from her TV promo would have made it a minor hit...... but nothing....

Posted by: pippa 9th December 2016, 09:01 PM

The album is number 65, i do believe this is a positive indication for the coming week with promotion lined up,Kylie should be entering the top 40 or maybe a little higher.

Santa Baby returns at number 95. As i previously mentioned Kylie should perform this and finally get it to register as a top 75 hit.

Posted by: slowdown73 9th December 2016, 10:36 PM

The single won't reach the top 100. Why would it? Nothing she has released recently has troubled the charts much.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 10th December 2016, 03:25 AM

well jut been to the concert.

BRILLIANT

even a duet with Katherine Jenkins......

Loved At Christmas...... but LOVED Everybody's Free even more...... sang it so well......

Posted by: SmileyKylie 10th December 2016, 04:51 PM

good to see album getting an iTunes boost. 135th yesterday morning now up to 81st. only ITunes but a good signal. Lets hope this weekends promo goes well

65th in Official charts this week .... 61st sold just over 4,000 copies so I would think around 3.8-3.9k sold..... not too bad.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 11th December 2016, 12:33 AM

took a while but At Christmas moved into ITunes top 200. started 283 before the J Ross Performance and moves to 155th

Album moved from 85 to 63 on ITunes

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 11th December 2016, 01:21 AM

Hopefully at Christmas keeps climbing, it depends if she performs on x factor now or whether it has even a slight chance of entering the top 100 officially, the album is showing good signs of having a good climb this week.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 11th December 2016, 09:30 AM

Santa Baby 63rd most streamed tune on Spotify.... hit the over 100,000 streams mark on Saturday.... 101,562 ...... that's big numbers, especially as Eartha Kitt version also hit over 90,000!!!!

At Christmas now up to ITunes 147th...... if it could just climb a little throughout the day that would be good. I am not sure how well it sound performed at Wembley but lets see if she does

it.

Kylie Christmas up to ITunes 56th..... that's up nearly 100 places since Friday.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 11th December 2016, 07:14 PM

So here we go. Kylie's big opportunity to sell some records....... X-factor may not be the show it was, but still big viewing figures and lots of music fans so lets see what they have given her to work with

At Christmas up to 129th on iTunes before the show

Kylie Christmas up to 53rd on iTunes before the show

Posted by: Rob Spears 11th December 2016, 08:16 PM

What did she perform? She is getting slated on Facebook...

Posted by: SmileyKylie 11th December 2016, 08:58 PM

Sings Everybody's Free on Xfactor and does it very well........ but could have done with another song too lol. getting great feedback on twitter

Everybody's Free up to ITunes 159th

At Christmas up to ITunes 115th

Kylie Christmas up to now up to 37th (with 15 compilations ahead of her)

Lots of people angry that the contestants came on mid performance.... what they don't know is that the song is only 2 mins 10 seconds long.... so they had to add some extra and I think it was very good way of doing it.....

However I would have liked At Christmas to have been performed too

ITunes update

At Christmas up to 84th

Everybody's Free up to 149th

Kylie Xmas 38th

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 11th December 2016, 10:41 PM

Im just after watching it now, it was ok but nothing special. I hate saying this but if i wasnt a fan of Kylie it would have been a performance i would have probably forwarded after a minute or two as it was boring.

I really think she should have went for a full on Christmas performance, if she had performed i wish it could be Christmas everyday half as good as she did on the kylie Christmas show i think she would have had the place on their feet.

I def cant see her in the official top 100 this week unless she is with Santa Baby.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 11th December 2016, 10:59 PM

Santa Baby will defo be in top 100..... was 95th last week and has 2 versions in ITunes top 400 and streaming big numbers too......

At Christmas has climbed nicely to 84th..... probably people catching it on Xfactor adverts and J Ross catch ups..... pity she didn't sing this..... it was her best shot and with the right dancing and Xmas set would have done well.

Posted by: pippa 12th December 2016, 02:38 PM

Kylie Christmas up to 53rd in midweeks. Good to see..... its moved up on ITunes since Sunday night so fingers crossed it can move inside the top 50.

Santa Baby up to 87th in midweeks and still streaming strong....

I found it quite curious that it was included as part of the pre-performance Kylie career highlights reel.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 13th December 2016, 10:52 AM

Who ever put the montage together for X-factor obviously loved that song..... smile.gif

I heard a rumour the record company not happy with the success of snow queen...... - well try putting a video out, price incentives, a better CD booklet, a vinyl, a DVD inc in CD and then the right songs for promo...... idiots....

Posted by: pippa 13th December 2016, 02:34 PM

The X Factor montage was surprising, songs like Please Stay, Get Outta My Way and Wow were very prominent, i do like Wow and its the best of these songs but it was on the reel twice.

I am sure the record company expected more in terms of sales from new edition but what did they expect, as on the whole it has not been handled all that good. The album should increase sales for this week and next but,likely not enough to say it was the correct move to re-release it. I think had Kylie just promoted the original album it would have sold in more or less the same quantities.

When an artist reaches a certain stage in his/her career, the record company expects the artist to sell by its name but this thinking is clearly outdated.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 13th December 2016, 03:59 PM

Get Outta My Way is the Kylie song that underperformed ........ its the perfect pop song and should have been the lead single from Aphrodite.

Minogue and her crew know how to make £££ from..... her merchandise etc makes her the money...... the pink pound is still worth a lot to her. Everyone saying thanks to her for the merchandise but are buying a bauble for £10 each..... its more than a CD costs so she makes loads of cash from stuff that like this. Fans should tell her to concentrate on music these days and put money into it.

Posted by: pippa 13th December 2016, 04:34 PM

Getta Outta My Way is not a perfect pop song. It is basically a bad-rehash of Love at First Sight. Based on the merit of the song it did not under-perform,what it did manage was to kill album sales off as it done nothing for the album.

All The Lovers was the perfect lead single and it rightly ranks among Kylie;s biggest selling singles. It is also likely the last big hit from her.

I agree about the pink pound, and i would believe music is probably the only thing Kylie does not make much money on. Merchandise, tours, tv appearances etc is her income now. I fully agree she needs to concentrate on her music, especially for her next album. I find it frustrating she has spent so much time recording songs as one off's or collaborating on extremely weak collaborations that are doing nothing for her career except wasting time and money.

Christmas album ticked a box but the output in addition to the Kiss Me Once output in general is way below Kylie standards.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 14th December 2016, 09:25 AM

At Christmas needed that X-factor performance.... they listened to silly media about Everybodys free being Xmas number 1 ..... idiots

At Christmas was primed... on verge of ITunes top 100, radio play, at least some streaming... already getting used to it as was on J Ross the day before.....has Xmas in the title.....

Warner, Parlophone and Kylie the only ones to blame for poor album sales

I still hope for a remixes EP of At Christmas on Friday... or even a crappy video.... but I am continually disappointed.

Posted by: pippa 14th December 2016, 07:49 PM

Once again, they are not handling or managing things correctly and sadly its all becoming a repetitive mistake with Kylie and team. They do not appear to be even trying to secure success anymore.

At Chritsmas is now on one of the main Spotify Xmas playlists so will get streaming over the coming days... dropping down iTunes though as the album does the same....

Yeah it's now added to the "Christmas Is Coming" & "Christmas Party" playlists - nice to see
It was already on the Topsify "100 Greatest Christmas Songs Ever"

Pity they wouldn't replace 'Christmas Wrapping (with Iggy Pop)' with 'At Christmas' on the "Christmas Pop" playlist - as that's the Xmas playlist with the biggest number of followers

Posted by: SmileyKylie 15th December 2016, 11:17 AM

I know... Christmas Wrapping is getting very good streaming lol... its actually one of my favourites too and she performs it really well.....

Posted by: SmileyKylie 15th December 2016, 04:09 PM

Well the J Ross show is repeated tonight on ITV but she wont sing until around 11.40pm but should get a few 'At Christmas' sales .....

lets see if she does anything tomorrow....

she has the Questions and Answers to do also which she advertised on twitter and mentioned yesterday so she may have some promo....

I also expect some pricing strategies next week .. maybe a day of £4.99 or £5.99 ITunes etc....

Still hoping for a video/EP smile.gif)))))

Posted by: SamJudd 15th December 2016, 04:27 PM

'Everyday's Like Christmas' should also be given a push, as it's definitely one of the best A-Mas songs of all time.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 15th December 2016, 06:32 PM

She doesn't push any songs these days.... that's the problem.......

she releases and lets them flop

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 16th December 2016, 01:53 AM

I agree she does let them flop, the way her campaigns are handled are baffling. The Christmas album was handled well last year apart from not pushing one song as a single, they missed a trick by not really pushing only you which had potential to be a hit. Kiss Me Once was handled badly but it was a weak album to make it worse.

Kylie would be better taking a step back and putting out decent material and promoting the hell out of it instead of doing bits of this and bits of that that are not benefiting her career in any great deal.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 16th December 2016, 09:38 AM

well no EP , no video.......

Kylie Xmas reduced just £2 to £8.99 will hardly make a difference.....

At Christmas - a complete mess again..... even Radio 2 must soon start be lose faith in her......

Posted by: florenceminogue 16th December 2016, 10:05 AM

Why 'At Christmas' isn't reduced to 59p on iTunes from today is beyond me!

It needs that to get it noticed and hopefully move up the iTunes chart - in turn drawing attention to the Album

Posted by: SmileyKylie 16th December 2016, 11:51 AM

Yep I don't understand her record company either

At Christmas could easily get a top 75 hit for her and be added to playlists for next year etc

but they just don't care..... more bothered about selling baubles at £10 each

Posted by: pippa 16th December 2016, 02:08 PM

The problem lies with the decisions been made by the team, everything is becoming more and more like less than a half baked attempt. The new Christmas album version is an utter mess and its almost like they are pulling out all the stops to prevent At Christmas getting a chart placing.

Posted by: pippa 16th December 2016, 06:12 PM

Number 45 for the album this week, it improved as the week ended.

Posted by: liamk97 16th December 2016, 09:44 PM

'Christmas Wrapping' was played on Eastenders tonight. Get that promo! biggrin.gif

Posted by: mr_pmt 16th December 2016, 09:45 PM

I really love her version of 'Christmas Wrapping'. It has that cheekiness I sometimes like from her.

Posted by: liamk97 16th December 2016, 10:03 PM

It's my second favourite from the album, '100 Degrees' in first place. Like you say, it's cheeky and there's so much character in the lyrics. I know that's how it was when The Waitresses originally sang it, but there's just something extra great about the way Kylie does it.

Posted by: slowdown73 17th December 2016, 10:50 AM

How much has this sold in total now?

Posted by: liamk97 17th December 2016, 11:00 AM

I'd say about 123k.

Posted by: Qween 17th December 2016, 02:26 PM

I've been absolutely loving the album this year, more so even than last year. I think it helps that I love all the covers (Christmas Lights and Stay Another Day are vast improvements on the originals) and it's probably the best collection of festive songs on any album I own.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 17th December 2016, 04:12 PM

well must have sold another 5.8-6k this week.......

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 17th December 2016, 06:00 PM

Hopefully the album can hold up this week and sell the same or more,id love if it could creep into the top 40.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 17th December 2016, 07:55 PM

She needed to sell at promo prices to get top 40....... hopefully stays top 75

Real pity about At Christmas as it seems to be getting better streaming now....... could have been a top 75 hit for her and a solid hit for years to come..... looks like it will be forgotten, especially with no video.......

Posted by: slowdown73 17th December 2016, 11:18 PM

With very little promo this week, I suspect the album will fall and may end up bottom 60s.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 18th December 2016, 06:35 PM

At Christmas now streaming top 200 in UK..... over 40,000 streams a day

Santa Baby now 56th for first 2 days of the chart week with over 200,000 streams combined... = 2000 sales on Spotify...... already

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 18th December 2016, 06:40 PM

For now my hope is Santa Baby creeping into the top 75 for the first time.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 18th December 2016, 07:12 PM

Sadly Santa Baby not selling enough downloads........ not been in top 200 for ages and although a few versions around it really needed a top 100 iTunes solid week

its steaming in 56th for first 2 days o the week on Spotify is god though.

Posted by: pippa 19th December 2016, 08:55 PM

Santa Baby is number 77 in the midweek chart information, with some luck she will finally cross the top 75 line. She so should have promoted this when on X Factor final.
The Christmas album has dropped to number 62.

Santa Baby 77th in this weeks midweeks.......... needs heavy streaming to continue as not being purchased enough.......... I think it will just miss out again on the top 75...

Kylie Xmas down to 62nd in midweeks.... should stay top 75 by Friday and sell another 4-5k

Posted by: pippa 19th December 2016, 11:49 PM

I would be delighted with number 75 at this point.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 23rd December 2016, 11:40 PM

Congrats to Santa Baby which charts at 77th this week just a place behind its highest of 76th back in 2007. This week it sold around 9.5k!!!!

Kylie Christmas down at 61st but not bad and another 5k sales.... that's about 23k of sales this year?

I would have thought At Christmas may have charted top 200 around 190ish? but doesn't seem so

Posted by: slowdown73 24th December 2016, 10:31 AM

Santa baby so close to making the top75 and it will drop next week so won't happen this year.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 24th December 2016, 03:35 PM

Santa Baby had over 145,000 streams and was 45th most on Spotify yesterday

At Christmas was 59,000 and 137th most on Spotify (a missed opportunity for Kylie to have a big Xmas hit year after year with this...) I would do a remix EP for 2017 with a video.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 25th December 2016, 11:03 PM

Santa baby 30th most streamed on Spotify.... over 200,000 streams on Xmas eve.... Eartha Kitt version 26th with 240,000+

At Christmas up to 130th with over 79,000

Posted by: pippa 28th December 2016, 02:55 PM

Santa Baby has come so close but so far from top 75. It would be wonderful if it could eventually get there.

Posted by: tommie 28th December 2016, 09:14 PM

I like the fact that Santa Baby never made the top 75, yet it's sold well despite of it.

SANTA BABY congrats with 11,902 sales this week (well mainly streaming)

Kylie Christmas spends its last week in the top 100 this time around at 88th selling around 2,600 copies.

Posted by: gooddelta 30th December 2016, 11:46 PM

A 2000 b-side becoming a hit single after all these years...will Kylie's legendary chart impact never end?

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 31st December 2016, 01:22 AM

Im happy it has an official top 75 peak as it has sold so well and better than some of her much higher charting singles, good to see the Christmas album get another week top 100 and over 2500 sales.

Lets hope Kylie makes a 2017 return with some strong music,but after kiss me once im not getting my hopes up.

Posted by: jark 31st December 2016, 12:20 PM

Kiss Me Once is a perfectly good album. Not her best, far from her worst. People are too hard on it.

Posted by: liamk97 31st December 2016, 12:54 PM

^ Absolutely. I love the run of songs from 'Feels So Good' to 'Kiss Me Once' and 'Into the Blue' was a glorious, instant, lead single.

I just want something a tad more experimental that makes you think "wow!". Kiss Me Once had great pop songs but was largely Kylie-by-numbers. Funnily enough, the most experimental tracks were the two that remained bonus tracks. An album that develops on those and the likes of 'Like a Drug', 'Sensitized', 'Your Body' etc. would be great. Stylish pop songs without sacrificing catchiness.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 31st December 2016, 09:51 PM

I love Kiss Me Once and sounds well produced. Just handled wrongly and they still do not know how to handle the timings..... Into the Blue was doing great then they took the single version out of iTunes when it was top 10 and left the album version floating low. cost her a top 10 chart..... from then on it got worse.....

Posted by: slowdown73 1st January 2017, 11:57 AM

I really don't like Kiss me once as an album. There are some good tracks but it was an abysmal campaign and many wrong choices. Into the blue is a highlight and standout track.

Posted by: mr_pmt 1st January 2017, 03:27 PM

I really was not expecting her to be top 75 with 'Santa Baby' at all, good on her!

Posted by: ___∆___ 1st January 2017, 07:57 PM

Glad 'Santa Baby' has made the Top 75 - probably outselling many of her higher placed hits.

Disappointed with the performance of 'Kylie Christmas' - was expecting at least a few weeks Top 40 nocheer.gif

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 2nd January 2017, 09:51 PM

I had thought Christmas would make the top 40 but disappointed it didnt, it barely managed 30,000 sales. I wonder what it would have sold in its original had she not re-released.

I estimate it to be at 160k, which actually places it a couple of places away from her overall Top 20 (according to other estimates, of course)!

Posted by: pippa 5th January 2017, 02:13 PM

Those sales are wonderful for a song that has peaked at number 72.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 26th October 2017, 12:20 PM

I think Kylie Xmas should be sold at £3.99 this year and bag a few more sales........ some of the songs could still be used on adverts etc or anything Christmassy and added to Xmas playlists on streaming.

Posted by: pippa 26th October 2017, 04:15 PM

It would be wonderful if it could even garner a top 100 return at some point this season.

It's my second favourite from the album, '100 Degrees' in first place. Like you say, it's cheeky and there's so much character in the lyrics. I know that's how it was when The Waitresses originally sang it, but there's just something extra great about the way Kylie does it.

Spice Girls version (or Melanie C and Emma duet) all the way wub.gif I love how they re-worded it to suit them
"Bah Hum, No that's too strong!
'Cause it's my favorite holiday
But all this years been a busy blur
Don't think I have the energy
To add to my already mad rush
Just because it is the season
The perfect gift for me would be
Completions and connections left from last year
World tour, aeroplanes and babies.
Met some guys but never the time
Most of 98 was along those lines."

When I saw posts in here, I was dreading her re-releasing or re-promoting it for a third year in a row. laugh.gif

Posted by: liamk97 30th October 2017, 03:23 PM

I wouldn't mind nor would I be surprised if she did do a performance of one of her Christmas songs. Not a full on re-promotion, but I could just see an opportunity arising somewhere. It could be a good chance to let the public know she has new music coming early next year too.

Posted by: pippa 30th October 2017, 03:55 PM

It wouldn't be a bad choice if a promotion slot came up and she performed a Christmas song. I am sure the plan behind the album was for it to pick up annual sales. A performance of any kind or interviews at this time of year can only benefit her and also inform people she is back with new music next year.

Posted by: liamk97 6th December 2017, 02:15 PM

'Santa Baby' is appearing at #97 in today's midweek update. It's currently on ACR but will be reset to SCR the following week. Should be on for another re-peak this Christmas!

Posted by: pippa 6th December 2017, 02:50 PM

A re-peak would be wonderful, at this point i am happy to see go back into a top 75 position as it took so long to finally make it there and become a registered hit for Kylie.

Does anyone think the album has even a slight chance of making a return to the top 100 over the next 2-3 weeks?

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 6th December 2017, 02:59 PM

I can see 'Santa Baby' maybe going top 40 this year.

There was me saying she'd never have another top 40 hit again. laugh.gif

Posted by: liamk97 6th December 2017, 04:10 PM

Yeah I was thinking it could be in for a chance at reaching the Top 40 too actually. As for the album, I think it would only re-enter the Top 100 if it received a really good discount.

Posted by: pippa 6th December 2017, 05:05 PM

Santa Baby going Top 40 would be deserving. While not a Kylie song or Christmas song i would rank highly, it has nonetheless sold impressively and is among some of midtable best selling Kylie singles. Many of Kylie;s other hits have a higher peak position on much lower sales.

Posted by: tommie 6th December 2017, 05:37 PM

She's already at #61 on Spotify, so I imagine there's a good chance at her going top 40 this year. At least it'll re-peak.

Posted by: pippa 6th December 2017, 07:59 PM

Its therefore likely, Santa Baby will be making a reappearance on the official Top 100 this coming Friday.

Posted by: liamk97 6th December 2017, 08:39 PM

Should be, as it wasn't Top 100 on the Monday update!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 7th December 2017, 03:34 AM

Kylie Christmas is the 15th best selling Christmas album of the century in the UK: http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/the-official-top-20-biggest-selling-christmas-albums-of-the-century__17392/

'Santa Baby' re-enters at #98 on the UK charts. It's #64 on the streaming chart (where its peak is #53) but does not make an appearance on the sales-only chart (which makes a change!).

Posted by: liamk97 10th December 2017, 12:59 PM

It should do. For reasons known only to the OCC, the Christmas songs all re-enter on Accelerated Chart Ratio before being reset to Standard Chart Ratio so that will help boost the song alongside the increase of streams it will naturally receive.

Would be wonderful if this could secure a Top 40 position this Christmas!

Is this true? That's really interesting if so. I wonder if Elton John's Step into Christmas will repeak again this coming week then. He out-peaked his #24 original position by hitting #19 this week making it a top 20, which I found fascinating. Also Mariah Carey is #2 AGAIN with AIWFC! cheer.gif

It might not be her FINAL Top40 hit. We have a new album in the New Year don't forget - depends how the new single is pushed. I'm not overtly optimistic but it could reach the lower end of the top40.

Posted by: liamk97 17th December 2017, 01:42 PM

I think Kylie will still be able to achieve a Top 40 on debut with a new single. It'll probably be Top 10 on the sales chart and let down by streaming, but that'll probably still be enough to reach the Top 40 overall.

Posted by: liamk97 29th December 2017, 10:17 PM

Yaaas! So happy to see it in the Top 40 after so many years seeing it have a #76 peak.

Sold 15,161 chart sales (1:150) plus whatever else adds to its total when you look at its 1:100 chart sales, so that puts its total nearing 240k. At this rate, it'll end up in her Top 10 best sellers by the end of next Christmas! I'm holding out for some updated sales, including streams, for Kylie this coming year, what with her releasing new music and it being her 50th birthday (an update on all sales like Music Week did for Madonna's 50th would be much obliged! teresa.gif).

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 30th December 2017, 02:56 AM

If the chart rules dont change Santa Baby will easily end up in her top 10 best selling singles, this is good and bad. I always like to see Kylie do well but she has so so many other songs i would prefer to see sell as well.

The album should get some traction this year as it has been a good year for Kylie.

Posted by: ___∆___ 25th September 2018, 07:14 PM

^^ I really think it will get some decent sales and that Parlophone will be keen to push it into supermarkets etc., for around £5.

I’m also hopeful that due to the renewed interest in Kylie that some of the songs aside from SB will feature on compilation albums and streaming.

Posted by: pippa 25th September 2018, 07:28 PM

If they can stock in supermarkets at that price, the album would be positioned to potentially pick up extra sales.
If if could add another 20,000 sales it would be a good outcome.

I'm always happy to see anything kylie on the chart, I wonder will the golden tour dvd be out on in time for Christmas? If kylie Christmas can get traction this year it should eventually manage 200,000 sales which would be great. If golden is re released kylie Christmas should be placed near it on the shelves as people may buy both.

Posted by: ___∆___ 26th September 2018, 12:27 PM

^^ Yep it needs to be part of HMVs buy any item and get Kylie Christmas for £2.99 to get those impulse sales - I think it will do well in general regardless this year as lots of lapsed fans seem to be back following on from Golden so they will hopefully seek out KC.

Posted by: pippa 26th September 2018, 01:39 PM

Kylie through the Golden campaign has won back some extra fans that she lost through the Kiss Me Once era.
As a result, Kylie Christmas in theory should benefit from this.

Posted by: ___∆___ 5th October 2018, 10:25 AM

With Kylie headlining the Magic Christmas show which has now sold out I’m expecting here to sing a decent amount of her Christmas songs along with Dancing etc., so the album could get a boost from that.

Only if the dealer price is below a certain amount - it’s being sold directly by Amazon rather than a 3rd party seller, maybe they are using the opportunity to clear through overstocks?

Yes retailers can sell for any price they like, as long as the dealer price hasn’t been lowered then they’ll count towards the main chart. They are also being sold directly from Amazon so will definitely count.

Had a re-listen to this today and I wish they just stuck to the idea of a disco-infused Christmas album and ditched most of the dreary ballads. The album doesn't get going until 'Christmas Wrapping' for me but there's still some trimming to be made from this point too.

I can see why they recorded cover songs but I'd rather more originals. Songs like '100 Degrees', 'White December' and 'Christmas Isn't Christmas 'Til You Get Here' all really shine and an album worth of material like this would have been fantastic. A shame they didn't rectify this with the extended Snow Queen edition.

This is how the album has been performing on digital formats:

iTunes:
#222 United Kingdom

Apple Music:

#300 Ireland
#659 United Kingdom

Christmas Isnt Christmas should have been the lead single off this album. Its a classic fun festive tune

Posted by: pippa 3rd December 2019, 10:18 PM

A disco infused Christmas album would have worked and a route they could have done successfully.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 3rd December 2019, 11:18 PM

Would have been interesting, maybe if she does a 2nd christmas album she will go that route.

Posted by: ___∆___ 5th December 2019, 08:59 PM

Wish they would give this a tiny push each year (Leona has had adverts on Instagram to stream OMS). I did however see the CD prominently displayed in HMV.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 6th December 2019, 01:00 AM

Ya me too especially when she is out promoting, it would be good if it was an annual trickle seller.

Posted by: Medellíam 6th December 2019, 07:30 AM

Just noticed 'Every Day's Like Christmas' sneaking in at the bottom of the iTunes Top 1500, placing at #1336. I guess being highlighted on the Official Charts' list of new Christmas 'classics' may have spurred a few sales?

Posted by: SmileyKylie 6th December 2019, 07:42 AM

Yes its been there a couple of days

Thing is with Kylie, she doesnt need to promote Xmas songs too much as she is releasing new music and new CDs etc,

Leona and Mariah are reliant on their Xmas hits at the moment.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 6th December 2019, 11:47 AM

True,,without their christmas song each both leona and mariah are struggling to get in the charts but they are lucky both have brill christmas songs, both all I want for christmas and one more sleep are miles better than Santa baby or anything on kylie christmas.

I always find it odd that they don’t try to promote it each year - just some social media coverage would help with streaming etc.,

Kylie owns the rights to KC under darenote so it’s in her interests to promote it!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 7th December 2019, 06:03 PM

It makes no sense that doesn't. I wonder is it selling anything at all.

A new one although it’s doing absolutely nothing for sales.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 8th December 2019, 02:30 PM

If that doesn't help sales nothing will.

Posted by: pippa 9th December 2019, 02:56 PM

With a price like that, it should be selling a couple of hundred copies.
Do have an updated sales total on Kylie Christmas.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 10th December 2019, 12:34 PM

I think it's on about 145k.

Posted by: pippa 10th December 2019, 04:03 PM

Very similar sales to Golden.

Golden: 152,222
Kylie Christmas: 145,370

Posted by: Medellíam 11th December 2019, 01:00 PM

Happy that Golden is pulling ahead. It'll be nice to see Kylie Christmas add to its total each year too but Golden is definitely the better album.

Thanks for those, AJ.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 11th December 2019, 01:12 PM

Ya I agree, I'm happier having golden in higher ses than kylie Christmas.

Posted by: pippa 11th December 2019, 02:26 PM

I would welcome sales been added to both but Golden ideally will always stay ahead of her Christmas album.
Golden is the much superior of the two.

Both should have at least another 10k sales in them over time.

Posted by: aeroco 12th December 2019, 05:40 PM

Don't forget KC will be making most of it's trickle sales this month so it'll close the gap again on Golden.....in time it will outsell Golden I reckon as it will do better on streaming.

Posted by: pippa 12th December 2019, 05:47 PM

The 7k lead that Golden currently has, is easily caught and it is likely Kylie Christmas will have access to casual sales each Christmas.

This and golden will be neck and neck with sales in the next 2 years.

Posted by: slowdown73 28th December 2019, 11:11 AM

Kylie Christmas has done fine for a Christmas album although I do think the reissue was quite poor in terms of the quality of the new tracks. It also omitted the french bonus track ‘night fever’ which should have been included.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 28th December 2019, 12:37 PM

It's a shame it didn't go top 10 as sales wise it's way head of tge number 2 kmo and it's on par with the number 1 golden.

Just for a bit of analysis I made a note of the Snow Queen streams on Spotify from the 4th December to 12th December...9 days....current popularity levels...

1. Santa Baby up 8.380 million
2. At Christmas up 948,000
3. Santa Claus is coming to Town up 672,000
4. Every Days Like Christmas up 446,000
5. Christmas Wrapping up 290,000
6. It’s the Most Wonderful Time up 251,000
7. Winter Wonderland up 250,000
8. Christmas isn’t Christmas up 206,000
9. Oh Santa up 129,000 (it’s on the 100 Greatest Christmas compilation, having its best year yet)

Rest aren’t adding much sadly. Only You and Wonderful Christmas Time up 63k, White December, Warm this Winter and Let It Snow around 40k.

Posted by: ___∆___ 14th December 2020, 10:15 AM

Love that ‘Oh Santa’ is getting a boost - that’s what we need to start happening each year with various tracks appearing on playlists.

It’s such a feel good Christmas album, I love her version of ‘Christmas Lights’ wub.gif

Posted by: aeroco 14th December 2020, 12:44 PM

Sadly the last three tracks aren’t even adding 1000 a day and Stay Another Day and I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday just over.

The top nine above can all have the best years yet, I’ll keep an eye on the numbers. Oh Santa already added more this year than it has each previous year. It’s on 665,968, early December it was well under 500,000.

I Largely believe Kylie has moved on from Kylie Christmas.
The album and Kiss Me One feel very contract albums.

Posted by: Jay❄ 24th December 2020, 03:05 PM

Yesterday I had a listen to Kylie Christmas Snow Queen Edition (at the same time as BuzzJack members Joseph, Maurice and Harry cool2.gif ) and I felt the same way about the album as I usually do. There's definitely some great moments on there, but overall it is a bit too long and some of the covers are misfires (which was probably inevitable considering the number of songs she tackled).

Firstly, here's my ranking of the originals:

1. Every Day's Like Christmas
wub.gif If there was any justice this would be a chart hit that returns every year. It's very touching and romantic. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like the production has quite a melancholic vibe to do it, which is an interesting contrast to the lyrics. I love the Stock Aitken and Waterman remix because that provides a different mood, more uplifting.

2. At Christmas
While there is a slightly juvenile quality to this song, in terms of her production and vocally delivery, this isn't a bad thing - it's a very fun and cute bop. Funnily enough, like with Every Day's Like Christmas, this song also has a contrast - upbeat production, but the lyrics are actually incredibly depressing! ohmy.gif

3. White December
Another great original. I'm not surprised to see that critics singled this out as a highlight of the album! It has all the ingredients for a great Christmas song - the drumming in the verses, the jingling bells... it feels nostalgic, but also contemporary at the same time. For some reason I love how she sound in the pre-chorus when she sings "Oh, just got me praying for snow".

4. Christmas Isn't Christmas 'Til You Get Here
This is such a strong and catchy uptempo! music.gif It's so jolly and puts me in a good mood. Although it's not my ultimate favourite original, I do think this would have served as a great lead single in 2015, with 'Every Day's...' as a great follow up to it. As much as I actually love Only You, with hindsight I think it's pretty puzzling that the label chose it to launch the era with it, when they had a song like this at their disposal. I feel like it gave the impression that Kylie didn't have much confidence in her own original Christmas songs, which is a shame. I think if you're going to do a Christmas album you really should start off with an original. Imagine if Leona Lewis had released a cover version as a 1st single instead of One More Sleep? She now has an original song do incredibly well every year... and Kylie doesn't. Such a mistake!

5. 100 Degrees [with Dannii Minogue]
I have to confess that I didn't really get the appeal of this song a few years ago. I thought it seemed very out of place, sonically. And I still think that, but now I don't consider this to be a negative point. It's just so much fun, and I think it was quite clever to include a song referencing what an Australian Christmas is like. This song feels authentic and thoroughly Kylie-esque. It's delightfully camp and the Minogue sisters sound fabulous together.

6. Cried Out Christmas
Quite forlorn sounding, but also sweet. Not the most essential original here, but it sits comfortably on the album and I wouldn't skip it.

7. Oh Santa
I'm a bit ambivalent about this one. It kind of puts me in mind of her attempt at doing an original Santa Baby - it's not a direct copy, but it has that slightly sensual tone to it. This song does stick in the mind though, it's catchy. Although it's my least favourite original, I still think it has its place on the album!

Overall I think Kylie did some great work with these new tracks. Whoever designed the track list for both the 2015 release and 2016's Snow Queen didn't do a very good job imo. I suppose the idea behind it was to have the familiar classics at the top to draw people into buying it, but I really think there should have been a smattering of originals much higher up the track list. They were worthy of that. I think it's a bit crazy that you don't reach a new song until track 7 on either the 2015 or 2016 versions of the album. Christmas Isn't Christmas 'Til You Get Here being towards the end of the album? Madness!

~~~~~
Here's my ranking of the covers:
1. Only You [with James Corden]
I feel like having this at the top would be a very unpopular choice for many of you. Perhaps it being a single benefits it in my affections, because I'm very familiar with it - I played it so often in 2015. I genuinely do find it to be an incredibly lovely version of the song though, and Kylie's vocals sound beautiful. It's weird to me how James Corden's singing voice comes across as sounding so much like his speaking voice. laugh.gif There's certainly no mistaking that it's him, and I can't help but think she could have chosen someone with a more pleasant voice for this duet. I mean he sounds fine, he can sing. Actually, I don't think that this song needed to be a duet - Kylie would have sounded incredible on this all by herself. I suppose it's quite funny to have a song that isn't about Christmas at the very top, but I think it's the delicate and pretty production that gives it a Christmassy feeling. Despite my positive comments, I will say that I don't think this needed to be a single, far less the album launch single.
2. Christmas Lights
I've only played Coldplay's version of this once according to my Last.fm (last year). I feel like I've probably heard it a few times on radio/TV over the years, but it hasn't proven itself to me as a Christmas staple. To all intents and purposes this may as well be a Kylie original, for me! I think that helps its placing here. For some reason the word "warm" comes to mind as a description for this song... it just makes for a pleasant listen. Maybe I should hear Coldplay's version more often!
3. 2000 Miles
It appears that I gravitate towards Kylie's takes on slower/ballad covers! This is a gorgeous song, and vocally she sounds like she really connected with the wistful quality of the lyrics.
4. I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday
It's one of the most fun and festive Christmas songs ever, and Kylie really does it justice! The best uptempo cover here.
5. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
I was kind of surprised how high I ended up placing this, and I also have a feeling people here will be a bit nonplussed to see it this high up. I feel like this might be the most covered Christmas song of all? Very overdone, however Kylie's is very easy listening and I enjoyed it - I think in the future I would gravitate towards her version over many others. I think Kylie pushed herself vocally on this, and the outcome is great.
6. Stay Another Day
I appreciate that the production & Kylie's vocal delivery tapped into the very sad nature of this song's lyrics (particularly in the verses). The original is such a classic but I might just prefer Kylie's version!
7. Let It Snow
Short and sweet! Delightful cool2.gif
8. I'm Gonna Be Warm This Winter
It's enjoyable. I associate this song the most with Gabriella Cilmi, but I'm liking Kylie's version.
9. Santa Baby
I'm not particularly keen on this song whoever sings it *gasp*. I mostly appreciate it in terms of it giving Kylie a regular presence every Christmas time, and out of all the versions of this I've heard, I would say I like Kylie's the best. I just don't love the song, but I wouldn't turn it off if it started playing though.
10. Wonderful Christmastime [with Mika]
I can never put my finger on exactly why, but for some reason I don't like Paul McCartney's original. It irritates me a bit. Kylie and Mika don't convince me into liking their take on it either, oops.
11. It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
I think I would have preferred a more modern sounding approach to this song. There's an attempt to make it sound like this is like a standard from decades ago, but I don't think it works. Not her finest vocal performance either.
12. Winter Wonderland
It's a really average version and she sounds a bit annoying on it. It really pales in comparison to Leona Lewis' version! Leona really put her all into her version and made it sound exciting, and so festive with that Phil Spector vibe. She's my go-to version of Winter Wonderland. Gwen Stefani's version is good too.
13. Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)
Hmm, this is completely unseasonal sounding and makes it seem unnecessary. Maybe if I listened to it in isolation I'd feel more favourably about it? I'll come back to it. I'm still amused that she promoted a Christmas album on The X Factor with a performance of this song!
14. Christmas Wrapping [with Iggy Pop]
I go on a journey with this song. For the first quarter of it I think that it's enjoyable enough, but boy does this begin to drag as it goes along - this really didn't need to be 5 minutes long, and Iggy Pop in particularly becomes increasingly annoying. By the time the song ends I conclude that it's very irritating. It's also very Americanised - I don't think Kylie really sounds at home singing this one.
15. Santa Claus Is Coming to Town [with Frank Sinatra]
Ugh, this is a complete misfire. A posthumous duet leads to a very fake listening experience, and understandably zero chemistry between them vocally. Kylie doesn't sound good here anyway and obviously Frank's vocals sound detached from the point of view that they were recorded so long ago. Clearly everyone involved in this really thought they were doing something special here, but it's really not. 'Kylie Christmas' gets off to such a bad start having this and a couple of other blah covers so high up the track list - they do the rest of the album a disservice because there's much better stuff on the album the deeper into it you go. Anyway, there's really no need to ever listen to this version of 'Santa Claus...', particularly when Mariah Carey's version exists!
^ I would definitely scrap every song after Santa Baby in my above rank.
Kylie Christmas re-entered the UK Top 200 at #195 on 25th December!
Didn’t it make it to a similar position last year too? Pretty sure it managed to just sneak in for a week.
When does everyone venture into giving KC a spin (assuming you all do kink.gif ).
Kylie needs a Mariah ‘It’s Time’ campaign to remind everyone of its existence.
1st December and no earlier! biggrin.gif
Usually around mid-November, and I always go straight for my absolute favourite - Christmas Isn't Christmas Till You Get Here wub.gif
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 6th November 2021, 01:42 PM
Its not my go to Christmas material but i do give it a few spins.
Posted by: ___∆___ 6th November 2021, 02:27 PM
I’ve given it it’s first stream of the year but it’s too early for me at the moment too - I’ll be playing it heavily in December like always though.
'It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year' returned to the TV airplay chart last week, re-entering at #88.
This is its (incomplete) chart run (I'm missing 2018 and maybe a bit of 2019):
NE: 77-72-62-61-64 (first entry: 05/12/15) 5w
RE: 63-62-69-69-72-64-92 (second entry: 26/11/16) 7w
RE: 69-65-68-58-53-51-65 (third entry: 25/11/17) 7w
RE: 45-38-31-35 (fourth entry: 05/12/19) 4w
RE: 57-41-34-32-32-23-26-24-87 (fifth entry: 12/11/20) 9w
RE: 88 (sixth entry: 18/11/21) 1w
Total: 33w
Id like this to take off some year instead of santa baby.
Posted by: pippa 19th November 2021, 10:22 PM
While highly unlikely, another Kylie Christmas song entering the charts would be welcomed.
Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 19th November 2021, 10:29 PM
Ideally 'Christmas Isn't Christmas Till You Get Here', keep hoping and praying that it gets used in an advert each year.
Posted by: pippa 19th November 2021, 10:33 PM
It would make a great addition to the right advert.
Kylie Christmas coming for another couple of thousand sales by year end.
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 20th November 2021, 12:11 PM
Do we have any idea how much it sold last Christmas, 1k is prob about all it will do.
Posted by: tommie 20th November 2021, 12:14 PM
I'd assume it'll sell maybe 3-5k. It seems to be its usual numbers when Kylie doesn't promote it.
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 20th November 2021, 02:48 PM
If it could get that amount it would be great, it would bring it to around 170k I think.
It was at 153k at the end of last year, so it might be around 155k now. I guess clearing 160k this Christmas is possible.
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 20th November 2021, 02:52 PM
Kylie christmas, golden and disco are all so close together with sales, for me disco and golden would ideally pull ahead but christmas will probably be more of a trickle seller each christmas and extend its lead.
Posted by: Liam.k. 2nd December 2021, 02:46 PM
'It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year' jumped 88-17 a couple of weeks ago, surpassing its previous peak of #23 that it set last year. It fell to #19 last week.
I find it interesting the music channels have favoured this over 'Santa Baby' which has both the Top of the Pops performance and the 2010 Love Magazine video to choose from. I guess the popular Andy Williams version doesn't have a music video so they show Kylie's instead.
I wish KC would get a boost and spend a few weeks in the charts each year, I know most people don’t seem to like it but I love that we have a Christmas album
Posted by: pippa 3rd December 2021, 12:44 AM
I had hoped it would gain a chart presence since its release but it never happens.
That said, it attracts sales but not enough to re enter but helps increase its total.
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 3rd December 2021, 02:50 AM
When the album was first announced I did think it would return to the charts at Christmas on and off but I've come to accept it wont happen as it hasnt done so apart from the snow queen edition which didnt do aswell as hoped.
Posted by: tommie 3rd December 2021, 06:05 AM
Yeah, it keeps selling at least in miniscule amounts (I think around 3-5k a year) - obviously it's not enough to re-enter but at least it keeps ticking along and probably sells more over the Christmas period than most of her catalog albums.
Posted by: SmileyKylie 18th December 2021, 06:52 PM
At Christmas currently Kylies 5th most popular streamed song on Spotify. Coming up to 22,000,000 streams.
Doesn't get featured enough.
Indeed and i would say this was the intention when released that they could capitalize on the christmas market,
Well it helps her streaming end of Nov to early Jan. She can add stuff when she likes too.
We know being more of a streaming force is a big BMG objective going forward
Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 19th December 2021, 03:11 AM
I know bmg have worked hard to increase her streaming but sometimes I feel it's like pissing against the wind for kylie and so many other artists.
Posted by: aeroco 19th December 2021, 09:00 AM
Yes, sadly the majority of the Kylie Christmas and Snow Queen are only achieving fan streams…think only SCICCTT and Oh Santa are going to outperform previous years…Santa Baby and At Christmas not quite best years but decent and who knows they could still achieve better numbers. The rest seem to have all fallen back or were minimally streamed anyway.
I made a note of each tracks totals at the end of Christmas last year and 1st December so I’ll have a look via desktop later and post updates.
