He had to go after what he admitted.

I think this could be controversial but I think he will find it much easier to get back into football in comparison to Ched Evens. I mean he's crazy to cheat on his misses with any girl but I struggle to believe he knew she was 15 years old / the nightclub should be taking as much of the blame.

I think the nightclub scenario, while still stupid and wrong, is slightly understandable. Admitting to 'grooming' an underage girl is not - he must have known her age by then.

After Adam Johnson pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity with a child and one charge of grooming then the club really didn't have a choice but to sack him. 12 caps for England, 2 goals. He must known her real age shouldn't he?

It will be a very long time if he plays professional football again.

I'm interested to see if he admits that he knew the age of the girl or if his lawyer suggested if he pleaded guilty he would get a far better sentence, I could see the judge being more lenient on the situation due to the girl being in a nightclub though and I still don't think he'll get the Ched Evans treatment.

The club had to do it. It'd be interesting to know what the grooming charge consisted of - whether it was that he continued to text her for a while after they'd first met, for instance.

They really had no choice. I will be interested to see how this plays out, why was a 15 year old in a nightclub anyway? She must have known who he is.

Sunderland definitely made the right decision sacking Adam Johnson, what he did was wrong and is unacceptable. The thing is that his girlfriend Stacey Flounders is very beautiful so why he would want to look elsewhere is baffling to me.

The club were completely right to sack the guy. I think most companies in the majority of sectors would sack an employee for something like this.

I think meeting in a nightclub is a reasonable defence for 'i didn't know they were underage' because the blame then should be on the nightclub for breaking the law but technically the law was broken. If he knew her age at the time of the 'sexual contact' or whatever they are calling it then that's all on him and he has no defence at all. I think all of it really hinges on when he found out she was underage. If he never found out until he was arrested then I'd probably feel a little bit for the guy as you can't really blame him for assuming a girl he met in a nightclub was over 18. If he knew then all that evaporates as he made a choice to break the law.

He sent explicit texts to the girl which have been revealed by the Mirror so I doubt he'll be getting back into football any time soon.

According to the news today he asked for a kiss in return for signing her shirt - and things went on from there.

Completely right to sack him. Speaking as a fan though, it might be difficult to replace him. Although he hasn't been the same since the allegations began and now it's pretty clear why.

His career and life is ruined now. It's a shame because he is a very talented footballer but what he did was unacceptable.

5 - 10 years happening

I'm guessing five years and out in two and a half, wouldn't surprise if he worked again.

Apparently from what I read, what he did would be considered more acceptable than Ched Evans... I guess being a higher profile footballer would help him too. I suspect he will end up in a white collar minimum security prison.

No chance he'll return to football now I think. Will get five years sentence minimum hopefully.
