Melodi Grand Prix is back this Saturday with the first of five semi-finals! One song will progress from each (plus a wildcard after the fifth semi-final) to join six pre-qualified songs in the final.
The four songs in the first semi-final are available to listen to now and they are: Stina Talling – “Elevate” Jorn – “Faith Bloody Faith” Blåsemafian – “Let Loose” Beady Belle – “Playing With Fire” The pre-qualified songs are: KEiiNO – “Monument” (To perform in first semi-final) TIX – “Ut Av Mørket” (To perform in first semi-final) Stavangerkameratene – “Barndomsgater” (To perform in second semi-final) Kaja Rode – “Feel Again” (To perform in third semi-final) Atle Pettersen – “World On Fire” (To perform in fourth semi-final) Rein Alexander – “Eyes Wide Open” (To perform in fifth semi-final) Very excited to have Rein Alexander back, and as an auto-qualifier! *.* Obviously very hyped for KEiiNO as well, I feel like it's a bit too soon for them but they have continually delivered with their post-Eurovision material so this is a guaranteed banger and excited that we're getting it so soon. After Norway gave Alexander Rybak another turn with that song, and KEiiNO still being the most recent televote winners, anything half decent and I feel like it could be game over for all the other acts |

KEiiNO coming to save 2021! If anything I'd say the argument with them is to strike while the iron is still hot and they've got a better chance of repeating or improving on their success now than they would do in three years or so and they've consistently been able to produce high quality scandipop tracks so my expectations are very high!
I think their track actually drops this Friday so hold on to your knickers girls! |

To say 2020 for me wasn't dominated by the KEiiNO album would be a lie. Super excited.
I've never really seen Melodi Grand Prix live before, this year that may change. |

Pretty much exactly what I expected.
I really hope they get a chance to represent Norway again. |

This is OUTSTANDING. I feel like it's got so much going for it. Well done KEiiNO!! I am so glad to hear Alexandra taking the lead for most of the song too. I do like Tom's voice but there were parts of Spirit Of The Sky that were a bit questionable from him.

Hmm, so I'm the only one a tad underwhelmed? If Norway send it, I hope it's because it genuinely turns out to be the best song in MGP and not just based on their name because I can't see it improving upon the success of "Spirit in the Sky". I think they had some better tracks on the album, particularly "Black Leather" and "Would I Lie".

Loving Monument! Initially I thought the same about them finishing similar to Spirit in the Sky but I wonder if they'll be received much better by the judges this time around? They'll get a good public vote as they've only built on their successes from the last time and I'd say this song is just as good! Could be a wise move as there's a lot of potential to grow!

I remember the first time I heard Euphoria and Only Teardrops and I said everyone else may as well stay away. I have that feeling again with this

I do think juries are somewhat influenced by hype and bookies odds, so they might be more generous this time (assuming Norway send them). Spirit in the Sky had virtually no hype in 2019 and nobody saw it as a serious contender to win the public vote, so they felt comfortable putting it at the bottom of the rankings.

I feel the same way, it is no doubt fantastic (and miles better than any of tonight's semi final tracks) and I'm sure in a live setting it will come to life, but it's certainly not as instantly joyous as 'Spirit In The Sky' was. I hope Raylee pops up in a semi final at some point, 'Wild' still slaps hard! |
