WHAT A LEGEND! I absolutely love her (personality wise & as an actress)
Not seen all of these but this is how I'd rank the ones I have seen: 1 Notes on a Scandal 2 Iris 3 Philomena 4 Chocolat 5 Mrs Henderson Presents I just loved the scheming character she played in NOAS and feel like it was one of her most multi-layered performances (you really sympathise with her at times too despite being an utter bitch) and very different to her usual sort of roles which I admire about it a lot too. Iris and Philomena are completely heart-breaking in similar sorts of ways and had me almost in tears numerous times The other two are nice enough performances but not exactly her best work, more of a filler nominee in those years... I've heard she's brilliant in Mrs Brown so I'd love to see that at some point too. It's a bit OTT how awarded she is by the BAFTAs though, she had almost nothing to do in "A Room with a View" so can't believe she won for that She didn't have much to do in "My Week with Marilyn" too but at least they only nominated her that year and didn't give her the actual win. I absolutely loved her in Victoria & Abdul too so I'm hoping she can add to her (already impressive) tally this year |
