A Happy New Year to all, and here are (roughly) my favourite 40 songs of 2017. As always, Sia does very well in these lists and grabs 3 entries, which is more than anyone else
Niall and Zayn also grabbing two entries apiece, with Liam and Louis getting one each and poor Harry nowhere to be seen! A good year also for Declan McKenna who grabs two entries. Special mention also to 'Run Up' which managed to sneak a place in the Top 40 without ever having made the Top 10 in my personal chart! 1 Danny L Harle - 1UL (HCP 1) 2 Imagine Dragons - Whatever It Takes (HCP 1) 3 Anne-Marie - Ciao Adios (HCP 2) 4 Robbie Williams - Mixed Signals (HCP 1) 5 Clean Bandit feat. Zara Larsson - Symphony (HCP 1) 6 Niall Horan - Slow Hands (HCP 2) 7 Carly Rae Jepsen - Cut To The Feeling (HCP 1) 8 Pink - What About Us (HCP 1) 9 Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Holy Mountain (HCP 2) 10 Declan McKenna - The Kids Don't Wanna Come Home (HCP 1) 11 Charlie Puth - How Long (HCP 1) 12 The Script - Rain (HCP 1) 13 Zayn feat. Sia - Dusk Till Dawn (HCP 1) 14 Ed Sheeran - Shape Of You (HCP 2) 15 Rag'N'Bone Man - Skin (HCP 3) 16 Hurts - Beautiful Ones (HCP 1) 17 Louisa Johnson - Best Behaviour (HCP 1) 18 Niall Horan - Too Much To Ask (HCP 2) 19 Zayn & Taylor Swift - I Don't Wanna Live Forever (HCP 1) 20 Dua Lipa - New Rules (HCP 2) 21 Rita Ora - Anywhere (HCP 1) 22 Sia - Move Your Body (HCP 1) 23 Little Mix feat. Stormzy - Power (HCP 3) 24 Kiesza - Dearly Beloved (HCP 4) 25 Louis Tomlinson feat. Bebe Rexha & Digital Farm Animals - Back To You (HCP 2) 26 OneRepublic - No Vacancy (HCP 2) 27 Liam Gallagher - Wall Of Glass (HCP 4) 28 The Chainsmokers & Coldplay - Something Just Like This (HCP 4) 29 Julia Michaels - Issues (HCP 3) 30 Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean - Feels (HCP 2) 34 Sia - Santa's Coming For Us (HCP 1) 35 Liam Payne - Bedroom Floor (HCP 4) 36 Katy Perry feat. I like your subtle different shades of blue colour scheme!
My favourites on your list are 'Dearly Beloved' and 'All Time Low'. Wall Of Glass, Run Up (although I didn't like this much at the time, only now) and The Man are good tunes too! Good end of year chart! This post has been edited by The Diplomat: 2nd January 2018, 06:00 PM |

1 Danny L Harle - 1UL (HCP 1) haven't heard this bizarrely 2 Imagine Dragons - Whatever It Takes (HCP 1) excellent probably my favourite of theirs along with Demons! 3 Anne-Marie - Ciao Adios (HCP 2) this was a grower in the end and I guess it shows her voice off well. heavy on the other hand never grew and is just mediocre! 4 Robbie Williams - Mixed Signals (HCP 1) 5 Clean Bandit feat. Zara Larsson - Symphony (HCP 1) 6 Niall Horan - Slow Hands (HCP 2) 7 Carly Rae Jepsen - Cut To The Feeling (HCP 1) 8 Pink - What About Us (HCP 1) 11 Charlie Puth - How Long (HCP 1) 13 Zayn feat. Stormzy - Power (HCP 3) 27 Liam Gallagher - Wall Of Glass (HCP 4) I doubt he'll top this in terms of solo tracks. 28 The Chainsmokers & Coldplay - Something Just Like This (HCP 4) 29 Julia Michaels - Issues (HCP 3) 30 Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber - Despacito (HCP 3) 31 Train - Play That Song (HCP 5) really didn't like this and I'm usually a fan of their music especially hey soul sister! 33 Calvin Harris feat. Hey Mango!
Looking at this list I'm realising how many of these songs I LOVE I'm going to comment on probably most of them 1 Danny L Harle - 1UL (HCP 1) Such a bop It entered my chart quite late compared to yours but still got a #8 peak (or something I can't remember and can't be bothered checking) Great to see this your top single of 2017 2 Imagine Dragons - Whatever It Takes (HCP 1) Another amazing song Imagine Dragons have blown me away this year. Believer was instant with me and I still play it quite frequently (remix on the album included); Thunder took me a little while to get into but once it grew on me I fell in love Whatever It Takes I loved from the beginning but I kind of forgot about it after a while in favour of Thunder / other album tracks. Now I'm back into it 3 Anne-Marie - Ciao Adios (HCP 2) This was great at first but a bit forgettable now Shame as I really liked Alarm & Do It Right 4 Robbie Williams - Mixed Signals (HCP 1) My personal favourite from Robbie's album I love how it was written by The Killers too 5 Clean Bandit feat. Zara Larsson - Symphony (HCP 1) 6 Niall Horan - Slow Hands (HCP 2) 7 Carly Rae Jepsen - Cut To The Feeling (HCP 1) I still don't get why Carly Rae Jepsen is so adored on BJ She's had a very small handful of decent songs but I just couldn't get into this one :/ 8 Pink - What About Us (HCP 1) 9 Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Holy Mountain (HCP 2) Great to see this so high I have you and the chart show to help with me discovering this gem I still prefer Liam though 10 Declan McKenna - The Kids Don't Wanna Come Home (HCP 1) Another song which I only listened to thanks to seeing it on here long long ago I haven't really listened to much of Declan since this one, but I think I should do 11 Charlie Puth - How Long (HCP 1) 12 The Script - Rain (HCP 1) 13 Zayn feat. Sia - Dusk Till Dawn (HCP 1) I'm glad this gave Sia another #1 here but I wish she was more prominent 14 Ed Sheeran - Shape Of You (HCP 2) I still love this 15 Rag'N'Bone Man - Skin (HCP 3) I much much much prefer Skin to Human. People always give Ed Sheeran hate for being so overplayed, but I don't think I ever got into the car December/January last year without hearing Human 16 Hurts - Beautiful Ones (HCP 1) Haven't heard this 17 Louisa Johnson - Best Behaviour (HCP 1) 18 Niall Horan - Too Much To Ask (HCP 2) 19 Zayn & Taylor Swift - I Don't Wanna Live Forever (HCP 1) 20 Dua Lipa - New Rules (HCP 2) This only made it to #2 here? Chart injustice of the year 21 Rita Ora - Anywhere (HCP 1) Rita missing out on another official #1 22 Sia - Move Your Body (HCP 1) 23 Little Mix feat. Stormzy - Power (HCP 3) 24 Kiesza - Dearly Beloved (HCP 4) 25 Louis Tomlinson feat. Bebe Rexha & Digital Farm Animals - Back To You (HCP 2) 26 OneRepublic - No Vacancy (HCP 2) I loved this, I really wish it would've done something officially Their whole last era kind of underperformed too, despite Wherever I Go, Kids & Let's Hurt Tonight all being 10/10 I thought OR we're supposed to be releasing loads of singles throughout 2017? 27 Liam Gallagher - Wall Of Glass (HCP 4) Soooo goooood Not that it's any competition... but Wall Of Glass beats Holy Mountain anyday Liam's whole album is brilliant and I wish both WOG & the album had done better in my chart 28 The Chainsmokers & Coldplay - Something Just Like This (HCP 4) This is definately not as bad as I was expecting, or how people make it out to be 29 Julia Michaels - Issues (HCP 3) 30 Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber - Despacito (HCP 3) 31 Train - Play That Song (HCP 5) 32 DNCE feat. Nicki Minaj - Kissing Strangers (HCP 4) The first song here I actually don't like (that i've heard) Nicki saves it a bit but I still don't really like it 33 Calvin Harris feat. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean - Feels (HCP 2) 34 Sia - Santa's Coming For Us (HCP 1) 35 Liam Payne - Bedroom Floor (HCP 4) 36 Katy Perry feat. Skip Marley - Chained To The Rhythm (HCP 1) 37 Declan McKenna - Why Do You Feel So Down? (HCP 4) 38 Major Lazer feat. PARTYNEXTDOOR & Nicki Minaj - Run Up (HCP 11) The better of the two Nicki Minaj songs in your 2017 Top 40 I still listen to this a bit, shame it only made it to #11 here 39 The Killers - The Man (HCP 6) AHHH I'm so glad The Killers managed to sneak in here. The Man is literally one of my favourite songs of 2017, and one of my all-time favourites from The Killers already. I fell in love with this instantly, and then fell in love with the next single... then fell in love with the entire album. I wasn't expecting much from The Killers in 2017, but they sure delivered 40 Jon Bellion - All Time Low (HCP 1) AHHHH....again. Did you accidentally number your Top 40 backwards because both this and The Man are straight up perfection? Obviousl I love this too. And his album. I was practically playing All Time Low on a daily basis between November 2016 & April 2017, as well as playing it in the album too (which is actually amazing, have you heard it? Some brilliant tracks there.) Great chart |

I like your subtle different shades of blue colour scheme! My favourites on your list are 'Dearly Beloved' and 'All Time Low'. Wall Of Glass, Run Up (although I didn't like this much at the time, only now) and The Man are good tunes too! Good end of year chart! Yeah I wanted a way of separating each set of 10 songs and that seemed to work pretty well Good favourites, 'Dearly Beloved' is so under rated, I wish more people knew it! Thanks hey mango hope you had a lovely Christmas and new year (probably eating Mango's ) 1 Danny L Harle - 1UL (HCP 1) haven't heard this bizarrely 2 Imagine Dragons - Whatever It Takes (HCP 1) excellent probably my favourite of theirs along with Demons! Hey Rob, happy new year to you too, I had a great xmas thanks, hope you did too! And yes I may have eaten the odd mango (seen as it's the best fruit going) and actually bought one today too 1 - Can't believe you haven't heard 1UL, you need to rectify that immediately! 2 - Agreed, although this actually edges it over Demons for me! 3 - It was very instant for me and yeah vocally she sounds brilliant on it 17 - OK I'm happy with that 27 - Yeah it was very good, but you never know, he could come back with something even better next year 31 - I'm surprised you didn't like this, although I suppose it is a bit more musically cheesy than their usual stuff... 39 - Yeah it's good but you're right they've done better. Thanks |

Hi Mango!
Nice to see Declan at #10 - by far my favourite song of his, I probably shouldn't give away spoilers but it will most definitely be in my EOY Top 10 I don't remember you loving Ciao Adios that much but it must just be my brain It is a great song, even if it is a step away from her trademark sound. Great EOY |

I was practically playing All Time Low on a daily basis between November 2016 & April 2017, as well as playing it in the album too (which is actually amazing, have you heard it? Some brilliant tracks there.) Great chart Hi Dexton, wow that must be the most extensive comment on any of my charts yet! 1 - I was obsessed with it at the time and I still love it! 2 - I'm the same, I do like Believe and Thunder but this is far and away the best thing they've done and was SO instant too! 3 - Not forgettable at all for me, I still play it regularly 4 - Yeah it's definitely the standout track on the album and you can hear the Killers influence all over it 7 - She's basically adored because she's a female pop star personally I like her because it's catchy out-and-out pop, which you don't hear so much of these days. 9 - Well in that case I'm happy to take the credit for getting you into it. It's such a tune! I must admit though, I prefer Liam's album to Noel's 10 - You should check out Declan's album if you haven't already. 13 - She was all over my year end Top 40 last year, she just hasn't released as much this year I guess. 14 - Shhh, don't let anyone hear you say that 15 - Completely agree, Skin is ten times better than the over-rated and over-played Human! 21 - I've got a feeling she'll get one soon though... 26 - I loved this too, so much so that I feel #26 is a bit low for it in this chart but oh well... yeah they made that announcement didn't they that they were going to basically release loads of stuff throughout last year, so I'm not really sure what happened with that 27 - I have to rate Holy Mountain higher but as I said Liam's album is definitely better as a whole, and one of my faves of the year 32 - Oh really? I think it's the best thing they've done! 39 - I actually wasn't blown away by the album like I was with their others but this song was decent. 40 - Haha! Yeah I remember obsessing over this at the time too, but don't seem to have gone back to it much. I've heard the album yeah and it's pretty good but I haven't listened to it for a while, I might have to add it to next week's playlist Thanks for commenting! Hello Mango! Here are my favourites from your Year-End chart: 1 Danny L Harle - 1UL (HCP 1) 2 Imagine Dragons - Whatever It Takes (HCP 1) 3 Anne-Marie - Ciao Adios (HCP 2) 5 Clean Bandit feat. Sia - Dusk Till Dawn (HCP 1) 14 Ed Sheeran - Shape Of You (HCP 2) 18 Niall Horan - Too Much To Ask (HCP 2) 20 Dua Lipa - New Rules (HCP 2) 21 Rita Ora - Anywhere (HCP 1) 23 Little Mix feat. Stormzy - Power (HCP 3) 25 Louis Tomlinson feat. Bebe Rexha & Digital Farm Animals - Back To You (HCP 2) 26 OneRepublic - No Vacancy (HCP 2) 27 Liam Gallagher - Wall Of Glass (HCP 4) 28 The Chainsmokers & Coldplay - Something Just Like This (HCP 4) 33 Calvin Harris feat. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean - Feels (HCP 2) 35 Liam Payne - Bedroom Floor (HCP 4) 37 Declan McKenna - Why Do You Feel So Down? (HCP 4) 38 Major Lazer feat. PARTYNEXTDOOR & Nicki Minaj - Run Up (HCP 11) 39 The Killers - The Man (HCP 6) 40 Jon Bellion - All Time Low (HCP 1) Thanks for commenting Sergej, and I'm glad you like so many songs from the chart |
