From January next year, the National Lottery will be moved from BBC1 to online only after 21 years thanks to a decision decided by Camelot.

What do you make of this?

As I'll never win - so much so that I don't even buy a ticket anymore - I don't really care where or how it is shown.

I usually check my numbers on the net, the Lottery show is rather pointless, just for 10 to 15 minutes

Same for me, I buy a ticket every Saturday but I've always got better things to do on a Saturday evening than watch a gameshow where even the host and contestants look bored rigid.

Hope the game shows continue as I usually really like them. Could easily have one on in the middle of the week if it doesn't need to be tied to Saturday night any more.

Anyone remember how utterly huge this was back in 1994-95? I was only little (six) but everyone was talking about it, the ads were on TV all the time, my parents were addicted to it and watched it religiously (never won). ITV had to actually put the numbers up live on screen during Blind Date as otherwise they'd lose millions of viewers every Saturday night.

It's odd actually now how small it is compared to its mid-90s dominance, even my Grandma just goes online now to check her numbers when she bothers to play. This is a brilliant site, searches your selected numbers for every week of the Lottery's history and sees how much you would have won, and inevitably how much you would have lost:

http://www.lotterysearch.org/

Putting the usual 'family birthdays' lot in for me, the most I'd have won in one go is £45 tongue.gif Overall had I played every week since day 1, I'd have won £512 in 22 years but lost £2,000 on buying the tickets!

I'd have got 5 numbers in one of the March draws last year...and only £500 for my troubles. My sixth choice was two balls out and would have bagged me half a million. Only six numbers gets you anything anymore, it was more worth playing when five got you something reasonably notable too, I haven't watched it in years so won't miss the show.

I guess they're all made by production companies who can try to negotiate another slot, but it'll probably be the end of them on Saturday night.

Maybe BBC1 will start showing films on Saturday nights again?

The National Lottery draws are returning to TV screens as ITV have now secured the rights to air them! ohmy.gif

Stephen Mulhern will be the presenter of the 90 second slot which will initially air during BGT.

Channel 5 must be annoyed that they didn't get the rights, who even plays the Health Lottery anyway?

And there it was with no draw, but the results of the National Lottery draw. Disappointed.

I suppose it's good that we get the results of the draw rather than nothing.

Sort of related, former National Lottery game show 'Win Your Wish List' is coming to Channel 5 and will be hosted by Gino D'Acampo.

To be fair, I expect 'Gino's Win Your Wish List' will be quite a bit cheaper than Big Brother, and will be targeted at a different audience.
