No-one talking about IDS' brain fart of an idea to raise the retirement age to 75? Knobhead.

well, it's a) utterly deplorable, b) a rude discovery that IDS had managed to slip back into the cabinet and c) not directly affecting most of this forum because we're all being short-sighted.

I mean a big part of it is this 16-year timeline, the arrogance of assuming the Tories will be in power for the next 16 years while they piss off their base like this, optimistic even with their cockroach-like ability.

That's nothing. Tories want it at 85 in 50 years time.

Average life expectancy in Glasgow for a bloke is 73 :/ similar picture across Wales and the north of England.

If he keeps on at this the SNP gonna pick up the pensioner vote at Indyref2 an all

All policies made up by people completely out of touch with reality. Longer at work means more strain on business and how do we get young people in to jobs when the old keep them cos they can't afford to retire? Absolutely shite policy.

The good news is that Duncan Smith is not back in the Cabinet. It is a think tank proposal, not a formal government one.

Further increases in the retirement age are inevitable but the idea of increasing it to 75 within sixteen years is a political non-starter. It also raises the question of what all these people would actually do. There are plenty of jobs which people struggle to do in their sixties; expecting them to continue into their mid-70s is simply impractical.

They assume they will always win due to voter suppression and a one party state media and establishment, plus planks like Chris.

Dumping this here as the original topic was locked and it didn't have relevance anyway.

You assume that they believe depression exists. Their attitude towards MH care suggests they don’t

They have one mission, to kill off the benefits system and those who rely on it

I couldn't sign onto the benefits system this summer as I'm classed as a newly-arrived migrant and not recognised as a legal resident in the UK. But France doesn't recognise me as living there either (which, on the other hand, is perfectly accurate as I don't have a flat lease for the entirety of this summer).

They just want to get unemployment figures down as low as possible and avoid helping those in need if they can.

Fuck off man. When you can't return to the country of birth as a legal resident when you've lived in it for 20+ years, then the rules are quite clearly a problem.

So you were born here? Then you're a British Citizen and can come and stay here and claim benefits any time you like? Or are you a French citizen? Am a bit confused.

Chris as usual you've got no idea what you're talking about. Constant right wing soundbites.

Do everyone a favour and stop trolling.
