A disappointing Doctor Who figure on first look but with context, it doesn't seem so bad. Pretty consistent with everything else on the night, and with pretty good competition from Emmerdale (in what is traditionally one of its highest rated days of the year, in its normal slot). I'm hoping it gets a good +7 figure!
Not too bad fr Doctor Who. Pleased to see Luther just about winning the night overall!

20:30 The Cruise: Shanghai to Sydney - 2.8m (12.6%)
21:00 Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? - 3.4m (15.5%)
Decent figures for Eastenders considering what their ratings have been like recently. 5.52m is their highest since 24th April (5.64m) and the second episode just 400k less is pretty good for an out-of-slot episode.

Great retention for Eastenders, particularly for a Friday which typically sees a bit of a drop from the rest of the week. That's the highest Friday figure since 9th March. No episode next Monday and there's an Emmerdale clash next Tuesday, hopefully that won't spoil the momentum for Eastenders too much.
The Greatest Dancer makes its debut tonight, what's everyone expecting from the ratings? Faces a head-on clash with The Voice UK which opened last year with 5.64m (with little competition). Let It Shine debuted on Saturday 7th January 2017 and rated 6.25m, for comparison. That too faced little competition (only clashing with The Voice for the last 25 minutes). I think both shows could rate similarly, perhaps low 5 million each.
4.5m for The Greatest Dancer I think and then stablise around 3.5-4m.
I'm really intrigued by how The Greatest Dancer will do.
It will either flop at under 3m or be around 5m I feel.
Solid night all round for both sides. Fantastic Beasts was about 1m higher than I thought and BBC was really solid.
Michael McIntyre topped the night with 6.15m proving it can hold up without a Strictly lead in!

Seven who?
5.2m for Millionaire last night, the highest rated episode of the revival so far! (the first episode last year got 5.1m)
Oooo interesting considering it was on at 8pm rather than the usual 9pm!
ITV must be very impressed if they've commissioned two more series, and one airing very soon!
Tbf it was their lowest rating show of last night sandwiched between Dancing On Ice and Manhunt both above 6m!
Excellent scheduling from ITV there and beating BBC One in every slot on their stronghold night!!
Ooh great that Manhunt managed 6m+! I believe it's stripped this week so maybe it's ratings will hold up well.
5.7m for Manhunt last night. Really good retention, has anyone been watching? Is it good? I was intrigued by the trailer.
Manhunt concluded with 6.2m and had a big effect on Silent Witness which returned with just 4m.
I had a feeling Manhunt but we ahead but no where near that much!
I reckon Cleaning Up will pull in big figures tonight as well so it may not climb very much, if at all.
Some consolidated ratings for NYD coming in!
Luther topped the night once again with a massive 8.8m excluding devices, so it should be over 9m on four screen data. Doctor Who finished with 6.9m, so will be over 7m with four screen data. Corrie was slightly ahead with 7m and was second highest show of the night.
Over 6m for Cleaning Up and just under for Bradley & Son. Silent Witness up slightly to 4.3m.
where were those 6m on NYD to see Bradley in Doctor Who
Bradley & Son was actually a tad above 5m...6m is the consolidated figure for last week's episode. Either way, really strong night for ITV last night!
Cleaning Up did very well, as I expected. The combination of Sheridan Smith / heavy trailing / coming off the back of Manhunt no doubt enticed a lot of viewers.
Death in Paradise returned with 6m (31%) last night. It's the lowest opening rating since Series 1 but it's the highest opening share.

A great return for Call the Midwife, just a 2.1% drop from last year. Quite the drop for Vera after achieving its highest series opening rating last year. It opened against McMafia last year (which rated 4.07m) and also had a boost from the return of Dancing On Ice which rated 7.5m, so I guess the stronger competition and lower lead-in this year justifies the drop. 5.6m itself is a good rating though, especially against a nearly 7m rating.
A lesser second week drop for Dancing On Ice, down 900k (13.8% decrease) compared to last year's 1.5m drop (19.7%), but I guess the series opener last year had a lot more 'curiosity' views.

Better for Silent Witness thanks to poor competition. Eastenders finding it hard to stay above 5m now but I'm not at all surprised; all momentum from Christmas and New Year has been lost and we've still got next week to endure before we finally see Mel and Hunter (and Sharon) back.

21:00 The Paras: Men of War - 1.7m (8.6%)
Steady drop for Death in Paradise, similar to last year. The share remains above that of last year.
That's pretty decent for Eastenders, I was expecting sub 5m again as there's not really much to keep viewers interested at the moment. Their highest share of the year too!

Nothing for The Voice UK yet. The Greatest Dancer dips under 4m but with half the decline of last week's decrease. Needs to stabilize now though - apparently it has a head-start on The Voice UK next week so will be interesting to see if that helps.
The Greatest Dancer Ratings

20:10 Vera - 5.5m (26%)
Call the Midwife climbing above the 7m! This series has been getting a good reception and that appears to be benefitting the ratings. I think when Vera finishes in two weeks time, its ratings will jump to the 7.5m mark, depending on what replaces Vera.
Dancing On Ice and Vera rating very similar to last week too.

Silent Witness and Eastenders pretty much swap ratings in comparison to last week. Silent Witness above the 5m mark looks much nicer.
Some consolidated ratings for the week 7th to 13th January, including all devices:
Call the Midwife joins Luther and Manhunt on the list of programmes to pass 9m in the ratings, adding over 2m to its overnight to bring its total to 9.11m. Vera rated 8.05m (up 2.45m from its overnight), Cleaning Up rated 8.68m (up 2.68m), the first episode of Silent Witness rated 7.63m (up 3.62m). Manhunt had an average of 8.97m across its three episodes (8.75m for just TV sets) which is the best average for a new ITV drama since Broadchurch in 2013.

Not sure what the NTAs got last night yet but the BBC seemed largely unaffected with Eastenders and Silent Witness rating pretty much the same as yesterday.
Not great for Eastenders to be under 5m already this early in the year. Hopefully they can be consistently over 5m again when Mel/Hunter and Sharon return next week.

2016: 5.48m (25.5%)
2017: 5.39m (25.3%)
2018: 4.55m (21.9%)
2019: 5.00m (25.8%)
Last year saw the awards switch from Wednesday to Tuesday.
Wednesday 23rd January
BBC 1
19:00 The One Show - 3.06m (16.2%)
20:00 DIY SOS: The Big Build (repeat) - 3.06m (15.3%)
21:00 Danny Dyer's Right Royal Family - 2.6m (13.8%)
ITV
20:00 Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad - 4.9m (25.5%)
21:00 Cleaning Up - 4.8m (25.9%)
Cleaning Up slows its decline although it won't be wanting to fall any further. Seems like last night's episode was well received with a twist towards the end, so that might help it out.
Thursday 24th January
BBC 1
19:30 Eastenders - 5.12m (28.2%)
-
20:30 Eastenders - 4.15m (21.8%)
21:00 Death in Paradise - 5.37m (27.7%)
ITV
21:00 The Paras: Men of War - 1.5m (7.7%)
Like last week, Thursday gives Eastenders its highest rating of the week. Don't know what brought it above 5m again, although that was short lived dropping 1m for the second viewing.
Death in Paradise slipping away now - last year saw Episode 3 rise from 6.08m to 6.27m so it's nearly 1m down year-on-year.
Friday 25th January
BBC 1
19:00 The One Show - 3.14m (18.2%)
19:30 FA Cup Match of the Day Live: Arsenal vs. Manchester United - 6.13m (31.6%)
22:00 BBC News - 4.41m (28.7%)
ITV

20:45 Casualty - 3.66m (20.2%)
21:35 Mrs Brown's Boys (repeat) - 3.02m (19.1%)
ITV
19:00 Celebrity Catchphrase - 4.6m
20:00 The Voice UK - 4.9m

Sunday 27th January
BBC 1
20:00 Call the Midwife - 6.86m (30.3%)
21:00 Les Misérables - 3.74m (18.6%)
ITV
18:00 Dancing On Ice - 6.1m (30.8%)
20:00 Vera - 5.8m (27%)
Very good for Dancing On Ice to be back above 6m - from what I hear it seems like an entertaining series even with the Gemma Collins drama aside! Seems to be helping out Vera too which achieves its highest rating this series.
Not good for The Greatest Dancer; seems like losing the Michael McIntyre lead in has had a negative effect, despite having the advantage of a head start on The Voice UK, which continues to pull in stable ratings (although down on last year).

6.62m - Emmerdale [6.70m - 6.47m - 6.61m - 6.51m / 6.63m - 6.82m]
5.53m - Eastenders [5.20m - 6.13m - 5.81m / 4.99m]
EastEnders a distant third in the soap averages.
That’s got to be one of the lowest figures for Casualty in a while?
Tbf it includes a clash episode and Friday 9pm episode (which always bombs in the ratings so I don't know why they persist with showing it there)
Monday 28th January
BBC 1
19:00 The One Show - 3.96m (21.7%)
-
20:00 Eastenders - 5.14m (25.8%)

Series high for Silent Witness; still lower than it's used to but at least it is still time-shifting really well.

21:00 Death in Paradise - 5.65m (27.7%)
ITV
21:00 Death Row with Trevor McDonald (repeat) - 1.8m (8.7%)
Cleaning Up is really good, are those ratings decent?
They are decent, yes, but it has lost 1.5m viewers since the first episode. I think ITV would probably expect more but it's time shifting well too.

The Greatest Dancer averaged 3.75m (20.2%) over the course of its run. For comparison, Let It Shine in January-February 2017 averaged 4.65m. That said, the difference between The Greatest Dancer's highest and lowest rating was 1.37m compared to Let It Shine's 2.56m, so whilst Let It Shine had higher ratings, The Greatest Dancer was more consistent. I think it's worth another series on that basis, at least they should know what worked and what didn't and tbf it did hold up well against an established brand like The Voice. To be nearly up 1m for the final was pretty good going too.
Not a bad drop for Baptise although it's one of those shows that doesn't have much room to fall. It consolidating well though.
Dancing On Ice seems to be suffering from losing Gemma but still a decent rating.
Dire for Eastenders on a Monday.
Wow EastEnders has absolutely collapsed. That low on a Monday in February is absolutely dreadful!
Was above 5m on Tuesday though, which is strange? Maybe it needed tape-checking.

Poor EE.
Oh dear at Alan Partridge, what has happened there! I guess putting it at the awkward half past slot doesn’t help though
Baptiste doing ok, but nothing special when considering the slot and how well The Missing did....
They need to stop with trying these awful comedies in such a high profile slots tbh. All of their recent big hits grew from either BBC Two or 10:35 slots and these days it almost feels like setting them up to fail from the start!

Game of Thrones has been posting some huge consolidated figures for Sky Atlantic - these are combined figures for the 2am and 9pm showings:
Episode 1: 5.25m (TV) | 5.54m (all devices)
Episode 2: 5.85m (TV) | 6.14m (all devices) [all-time high!]
Episode 3: 5.73m (TV) | 6.08m (all devices)
HUGE figures for a pay TV channel that can only be accessed via Sky or Now TV. These figures wouldn't look out of place on BBC One and ITV.
I'm looking forward to seeing how much it adds in the 28 day figures...hopefully well over 7m!
Wow, that’s crazy! Can’t see it ever happening again.
I corrected myself I got mixed up with the Sundays/Mondays But still high!
Odd that episode 2 was the highest when it was essentially a warm up for episode 3!
It's also worth adding that Thronecast which has been airing after the main broadcast has reached a series high of 904k / 928k...HUGE in its own right!!
Adele: In Her Own Words averaged 1.1m (7.8%) on Channel 5 on Friday, hence the resurge of her music on the iTunes charts.
Britain's Got Talent averaged 7.4m (40.3%) on Saturday.
British Academy Television Awards averaged 3.6m (19.7%) on Sunday, up on the 3.48m (18.9%) of last year's ceremony.

EastEnders hit a new all time low overnight rating last night at 9pm with just 2.9m viewers
The new £87m set not due to be completed until 2023 sounds worthwhile
EastEnders last four ratings: 2.9m, 2.7m, 3.7m, 2.8m
EEK. Something needs to be done quick!! I know 3/4 have been thrown into random silly slots but one of those was for a normally scheduled edition of the show without any notable competition.
love island getting better ratings than eastenders lol
Emmerdale and Corrie are also posting really low figures but EastEnders' are making them look really good lmao
Very strong figures all round!

Shocking ratings for BGT
Hollyoaks are getting their highest ratings since 2014
Through Monday to Thursday that week, Hollyoaks pulled in more than a million viewers on E4 each evening, with three of the episodes becoming the highest-rated of the year. These consolidated figures include those who watched via recordings and catch-up.
The first-look episode on Wednesday, September 18 performed particularly well, as 1.06m tuned in on E4 to see Ste interrogated by the police and Yasmine realise that she'd lost her hearing in the blast.
Hollyoaks also saw rises in its target demographic, with the show's overnight ratings for the week up 15% year-on-year among the 16-34 audience across Channel 4 and E4. Consolidated figures for 16-34s were the highest since 2014, one of the show's most successful years for ratings.
Wow! XF are really in the pits! When are ITV going to wake up?!
Oh dear this could go way below 3m then
I'm... not overly surprised, BGT Champions didn't exactly do much better did it? I'm not sure the general public are that interested in these "spin off" versions.
8.92m for England v South Africa yesterday morning - peaked at 12.8m!! Huge for the time of day.
Meanwhile, there's now a 1m gap between X Factor and The Wall. The former had 3.1m and the latter had 4.1m...the wheels have truly come off X Factor this year!! Shockingly low.
AXE FIX FACTOR!!
That's great figures imagine it would be more than that with watching the match at the pub.
His Dark Materials got over 7m viewers on Sunday which is fantastic!
2.5m viewers for X Factor last night The Wall was 2m viewers ahead of it...
Those ratings are so so bad for X Factor that it can only mean one thing. AXE EASTENDERS!! Shame viewers were so low. I caught Lizzo's promo on it. Shame she didn't get more viewers for a bigger boost.

I was in London at that time a few of my friends crazy to watch Silent Witness (BBC 1).
"Five million viewers for BBC’s annual Sports Personality of the Year last night, 8.6m at peak"

Christmas Day TV ratings:
Gavin & Stacey: 11.5m
The Queen's Speech: 7.7m
Strictly: 5.6m
Michael McIntyre: 5.2m
Call the Midwife: 5.2m
EastEnders: 5.2m
Corrie: 4.5m
Mrs Brown's Boys: 4.4m
Emmerdale: 4.1m
f***ing hell at Gavin & Stacey!
Is that a big figure these days?
Why did so many watch the queen's bloody speech?! It usually gets like 3 million Guess that's the tories trying to prove a point r.e Corbyn not watching it.
The Queen’s Speech gets such high overnight ratings because the antiquated system for measuring overnight ratings , which involves sampling about 10,000 UK households with a box that tracks what people watch on terrestrial TV, has an inbuilt bias towards shows that skew towards an older audience, and to programmes that are more likely to be ‘event’ TV. I imagine when the +7 consolidated ratings come in, its ratings won’t have moved as much, and will be taken over by programmes that people didn’t feel the need to watch live.
I’m also assuming The Queen’s Speech accounts for all broadcasts on BBC, ITV and Sky?
Just shows that there needs to be a real shake up in Christmas TV scheduling! Of course Gavin & Stacey was hugely hyped anyway and it would be hard to recapture that with any programme but for it to be more than double the next highest rated programme (disregarding The Queen as that is a mainstay!) shows there needs to be a lot more creativity.

If these ratings are based on 1000 boxes in olf people's houses, then how can we ever take thrm seriously at all?
Yeh the schedule has been the same for the past decade Give or take.
