So with the upcoming Royal Rumble coming our way in a weeks time I thought it would be fun to rate each and every Rumble match from 1988 up to 2014.
You must simply give out one 11 & three 10's. Hopefully you'll have seen all of the Rumble matches if you're that much of a dedicated WWE Fan
Here's the respectable years & template!

I don't think I'm gonna be able to do this. I've only seen the 2011, 2013 & 2014 Royal Rumble matches in full. I would have watched the 2012 rumble match but I didn't have internet connection over the weekend that it took place and for all the pre-2011 rumble matches I didn't know about any streams that I could watch it on.
2000 is my favourite rumble! Not only because of the rumble match itself, but the whole PPV was that damn good! In particular Triple H vs. Cactus Jack; Street Fight! (One of my all time favourite matches!)
And of course we also had Hardyz vs. Dudleyz; Tables Match, with THAT spot from above the entrance by Jeff! *.*
Agreed that the 2000 Royal Rumble was the best (although the less said about the swimsuit competition the better). Rey Mysterio starting from first winning the 2006 Rumble was pretty iconic as well.
Right I'ma kick start this off then

According to Me 2014 is the best one....
Argh, I don't know how anyone can give 1989 a 5!
I'd have to do this from memory as most (especially in the past 15 years) of them all roll into one in my mind.
6 1988 - I agree, it was more of a prototype at this point, not enough people in it and not enough talent.
10 1989 - The first proper one - I loved it from the moment Demolition drew 1 and 2 until the point John Studd redeemed himself for a career as a huge heel.
8 1990 - A bit of a step backwards - although it is memorable for the point that Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior started trading punches.
10 1991 - the first one I ever saw, the first wrestling PPV I ever saw in fact. As a result it holds really good memories for me, even if it wasn't the greatest ever line-up or ending.
11 1992 - hands down the greatest Rumble ever - Ric Flair entering at number 3 and staying until the end to win the title. The moment where he clears the ring only to meet Roddy Piper is legendary.
6 1994 - I had this on VHS for some reason, but definitely not a classic with a pretty stupid ending.
10 2000 - this was a good one, shown on channel 4 if I recall, so the first I saw in a long time.
I really can't remember which was which of the others. However, I'll happily give a higher rating to any where it wasn't basically wrestlers 1 and 2 the whole way through with nearly everyone else getting knocked out after about 30 seconds. Those Rumbles are awful...that one where Nexus kept on chucking everyone out was the worst. At least Stone Cold did that in a fairly entertaining way.
02 1999 this was so bad! It felt like it dragged too
10 2000
11 2001
09 2002
07 2003
03 2011 - Re-watched this last night, for a 40 man Rumble they could have had so many more surprises.

Need to re-watch the others, can't remember a thing!
Sorry Richie I didn't really enjoy the earlier rumbles much might have to re watch that one to see if it can improve on me though. The 1992 was the best of that century hands down.
Ok I'll put in my to do list for the week to re watch that rumble then. Tbh I'm fairly sure I enjoyed it more so I may knock my points up once I've seen it again.
It will be quite hard to rate most of these as I've only seen 3 rumble matches in full and they were at the time of when it took place. For the others already knowing the winner and the power of hindsight could affect my rating but for the 2000 rumble match I will give that at least a 10 because I know I would have loved watching that Live and The Rock was my favourite wrestler then so him winning would have made me enjoy even more.
I still need to watch many more rumble matches before I can give my final ratings so I will edit this as I go along.

Is there a particular deadline for this?
The 1990 RR is brilliant. The start was a lot better than the ending for me, but it was fantastic and the crowd were absolutely brilliant! The first 10 or so superstars all consisted of some of the most iconic superstars and performers of all time. Ted DiBiase, Marty Jannetty, Roddy Piper (MASSIVE reactions to him and his moves!), Jake the Snake, Macho Man, Bret Hart, Dusty Rhodes and Andre the Giant! And then, obviously we have the moment between Hulk and Warrior.
Plus Edge was in the crowd wasn't he or was that Wrestlemania #flopfanknowledge
Just a few more days left for this. You have till the 30th Jan!
I have one to add...
02.0 2015
Yep, except you're being too kind.
1 out of 10 for the 2015 Rumble = the worst they've ever done.
The Rumble was good I thought until Daniel Bryan got eliminated was enjoying until that point, then it all pointed to Reigns.
I thought the whole thing was awful - at least Bryan being eliminated "early" made me take notice.
Six contestants spent less than a minute in the match, a further four spent less than three minutes and less than half were in there for more than five minutes. The ring barely got busy throughout and the way Kane and Big Show teamed up to clear the ring slowly and methodically pointed to the most obvious ending they've had in years. Everyone was so upset that the "surprise" that Rusev was still in it barely registered.
The funny thing was...they ended Smackdown with wrestler after wrestler coming down to a full ring to whet fans' appetites and then never went anywhere near that.
last day to get the rates in. C'mon
right Pablo I'm sorry but I'ma have to take your votes from where you got up to as the deadline was yesterday.
The result probably won't give much as only 4 people voted but either way we should still find out who the victorious one is from those who did vote!
RESULTS TIME !!!
starting off at 21 is the 1999 Royal Rumble, you know the one that Mr Mchanon won last eliminating Austin who wrestled him from the top two positions and finished as the last two people in the match . Really served no purpose as he didn't take part in any title match at that years Wrestlemania. It also marked the first time a females wrestler took part in the form of Chyna. Next up was the 1995 rumble where again the first two lasted all the way to the end as this was the first of HBK's back to back rumble victories when he eliminated The British Bulldog. In at 20th was the 1997 rumble won by Stone Cold Steve Austin making it the first of his 3 rumble wins, he last eliminated Vader. Yokozuna won the 1993 Royal Rumble which comes next at 19th place, he went on to defeat Bret Hart at Wrestlemania but then Hulk Hogan somehow got himself into a match with Yoko after saving Bret Hart from a post beat down and quickly won the title the same night.
The very first Royal Rumble all the way back from 1988 is 18th won by Hacksaw Jim Duggan, a fairly boring first Rumble if I'm honest and finally to round this off we have the 2006 Rumble at 17th. This was the one where Rey Mysterio was deemed the ultimate underdog and won the match in dedication to his late friend Eddie Guerrero, a much loved popular wrestler who passed away in 2005. Rey won the World Championship in a triple threat which included Randy Orton and the champ defending in the match Kurt Angle.
16. 2006 = 14 Points
17. 1988 = 13 Points
18. 1993 = 12.5 Points
19. 1997 = 11 Points
20. 1995 = 9 points
21. 1999 = 6 points
No surprises so far. 2006 really peeved me off. Pretty sure, iirc, Rey just latched onto the bottom of the rope for practically the whole rumble?
Next bunch now as the 1998 Royal Rumble slips out at 16th place, this was the one where Stone Cold eliminated The Rock last to win his 2nd consecutive rumble match and this was the one which starred all 3 of Mick Foley's different characters, Cactus Jack, Dude Love & Mankind. The next 3 position are all a dose of jointh positions. We see two brilliant Rumbles out at 15th in my opinion, especially the 2009 one where Rey & John Morrison were the first two starting it out and The Undertaker come out half way through plus the return of Rob Van Dam. Santino broke The Warlords record of 2 seconds by being eliminated in 1 second. The match was won eventually by Randy Orton. The 1996 match I knew pretty much all the entrants bar a few, very enjoyable match with an early Triple H entering in 1st position and lasting towards the end almost but his good buddy Shawn Michaels once again won the Rumble making it 2 years in a trot.
Back to the last decade as we see 2005 the controversial Cena/Batista ending which Batista claimed the victory and 2007 was the first time The Undertaker won the Rumble having entered numerous times previously and also a whole 10 years earlier to be precise entered in the same draw 30 2008 saw HBK and Taker start off the Rumble and dominating the majority of it before both were eliminated by Mr Kennedy. Remember him? Cena was out of action in late 2007 with an injury and was expected to return mid way into the new year but surprised everyone and came back even earlier than timetabled and won the match eliminating Triple H last. Finally at 13th is the 1994 Rumble which had the original controversial ending where Lex Lugar & Bret Hart both won making it the first time we had a joint Rumble winner. Stuck in the same position was the 2004 Rumble, Benoit was placed as the 1st entry and outlasted 29 other men to win the rumble knocking Big Show off last. Sadly the mention of Benoit's record for longest time in a rumble match and the quote of him being a former Rumble winning has been completely ignored from record books based on the tragic events some 3 and a half years later. P.S. the 1996, 2009, 2005, 2008 & 2004 rumbles deserved better. I enjoyed them all thoroughly so shame they aren't higher but oh well it is what it is especially when only 5 people took part
JOINT 12th. 1994 & 2004 = 17.5 Points
JOINT 13th . 2005, 2007 & 2008 = 17 points
JOINT 14th. 1996 & 2009 = 16 points
15th. 1998 = 14.5 points
Interested to see the 2008 rumble, don't think I've seen that one, Undertaker & Michaels starting escapes me.
Taker and Michaels starting was brilliant booking. Especially with the way things had planned out!
Results continuing shortly ~
12th place and 11th place will be up around 11.
In at #11th is the 2010 Rumble, this one was where Dolph Ziggler & Evan Bourne started the match with CM Punk in his 'Straight Edge Society' phase, he went rambling on between the time gaps between entries 4,5 & 6 before getting eliminated by Triple H. Beth Phoenix also became the 2nd woman in history to enter a rumble match and managed to eliminate The Great Khali. This was eventually won by "THE RATED R SUPERSTAR" Edge who had been out for 7 months with an injury and eliminated his then recent tag team partner Chris Jericho!
10th 2010 Royal Rumble match - 20 points
Bizarrely enough I watched the 2012 last night once again, this had some comedy fun in the beginning with Mick Foley, Ricardo Rodriguez & Santino Marella. All 3 commentators entered the match with Booker T lasting the longest. Michael Cole entered at 20 but was immediately confronted with entry 21 in KHARMA *.* who became the 3rd woman to ever enter the match. She managed to eliminated Hunico before Dolph dumped her over. 1988 Royal Rumble winner 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan appeared for the 25th annual Rumble but lasted under a minute being eliminated by Cody Rhodes. The final two men came down to Jericho and Sheamus with Sheamus eventually claiming the victory with a Brogue Kick to Y2J whilst he was on the apron.
11th - 2012 = 18 points
p.s. I got these two the wrong way in terms of posting but this is 11 and the 2010 one was 10th.
IIRC the 2012 Royal Rumble had the longest "final 2" segment, ever. I could be wrong, but I'm sure I read that somewhere!
I thought 2012 was alright, get's more stick than it deserves, Road Dogg was in this right?
2012 wasn't bad actually, I enjoyed it. The commentators bit was a bit stupid though, especially since there were plenty of wrestlers who could have taken those three spots.
Well only The King's bit. I liked Cole getting involved just for Kharma to come out tbh. I wouldn't be saying this if she wasn't in it and therefore agree with you but I liked it for the confrontation especially coming out in the next entry after Cole's
10th & 9th place coming in the next hour or two. Will definitely continue this tonight with a few positions!
Posted edited Sun 15th Feb!
after several attempts to get on with this to then put it on hold is ridiculous but here is some more positions!
9th : 2011 Royal Rumble Match 2011 = 22.5 points
This one was where we had CM Punk entered 1st and dominated the first half of the match with The New Nexus, we saw the returns of Diesel and Hall of Famer Booker T. Chavo payed homage to Eddie with a load of 3 amigos to several wrestlers, Hornswoggle and Cena ended up eliminating a few wrestlers. Cena was eliminated by The Miz who wasn't in the match and Santino was the last man chucked out by the Rumble winner of that year ALBERRRRRTTOOOOOOOO DEL RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIO!!!!
Just skimmed through and I missed another joint position which is still to come so everything has been upped a position and we're now at #8.
8th : 1990 Royal Rumble Match = 24 Points
This was the first of two back to back Rumble match wins for Hogan, can't really go into much detail as I haven't watched it enough to dissect anything about the match and what went on but the one time or two that I've watched this rumble I found it very enjoyable for what it was. Hogans win went on to Wrestlemania where he wrestled the late 'Ultimate Warrior' in the main event. Future WWE wrestler and HOF Edge was present in the crowd for that match at Mania as well!
--
1989 Royal Rumble Match = 24 Points
So this match I saw a few weeks back and after disregarding it at first I bumped my marks up a little as it was a bit better than I thought although nowhere near the best rumble even of that time! Big John Studd won this rumble last eliminating Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase, it also had the original record for shortest time in a rumble match until 2009 when The Warlord got tossed straight out by Hogan at 2 seconds and Andre The Giant eliminated himself early on when Jake Roberts brought a python into the ring! Starting the match we also had both members of Demolition Ax & Smash too!
The CM Punk / Del Rio rumble should have been lower and the 1989 and 1990 ones much higher up!
Joint #7 = 24.5 Points
1991 & 2014 Royal Rumble
Can't find any highlights video for 1991!
Batista won the 2014 Rumble with this match being dominated by The Shield (Reign's 12 eliminations) and CM Punk's last appearance in WWE before walking out the next night.
Hulk Hogan won the 1991 rumble in which The Undertaker made his debut!
6th - 2003 Rumble - 25 Points
Now this was my first Rumble that I saw as I hadn't long started watching WWE properly till end of 2002. The Monster Brock Lesnar back in his prime managed to outlast 29 other superstars including Undertaker, Kane, a early John Cena, Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels & RVD to name a few. HBK and Jericho started this match up off where Jericho eliminated Shawn early on before Michaels got some revenge attacking Jericho later on nearer the end setting up for their Wrestlemania feud!
5TH
2013 Royal Rumble - 27 Points
John Cena won this rumble making it his 2nd Rumble match win in his illustrious career! Nothing else worth noting apart from Jericho starting the Rumble against Ziggler, Ziggler has begin the Rumble on two seperate occasions, this one in 2013 & 2010. Daniel Bryan also at one point in the match on the apron getting brogue kicked I think, onto Kane and for a 30 seconds he was caught in Kane's arms before Kane dropped him eliminating Bryan from the match. I think everyone was more interested in the match that followed which pitted CM Punk against The Rock in which Rock would win his first title since 2002 and would ultimately end Punk's lengthy reign as champ at 434 days!
4th - 1992 Royal Rumble 28 points
and this needs no introduction really, was the first Rumble to have the WWE (WWF at the time) title at stake and featured all the top old skool wrestlers including Big Bossman, Roddy Piper, Tito Santana, Sid Justice, Ted Dibiase, Undertaker, Hulk Hogan and the winner Ric Flair. If you haven't seen this Rumble then what the hell are you doing with ya life! Best 90's Rumble for me
There has never been a better Royal Rumble than 1992 - I'm assuming those of you who didn't vote for it haven't seen it.
3RD MOST VOTED ROYAL RUMBLE IS 2002 = 30.5 Points
This Rumble featured The Undertaker entering in #9th draw and clearing house also eliminating both Hardyz before getting eliminated in shock fashion by Tough Enough winner at the time MAVEN!!! Triple H also made his highly anticipated return chucking Kurt Angle out last to go on and defeat Chris Jericho at that years Wrestlemania for the Undisputed World Title!
Which leaves 2000 & 2001 battling it out, which Rumble match year did you vote for. All shall be revealed in a bit
#2 is.........................
ROYAL RUMBLE 2001 = 42 Points
this Rumble was won by Austin which would end up being his 3rd Rumble match win, the first two being back to back. We saw a celeb entry in the form of Drew Carey and surprise returns at the time from Big Show, HonkyTonkMan & Haku.
The below video really pinpoints the main slice of history though which was Kane's damn near impressive performance of eliminating 11 guys, a record that lasted until Roman Reigns last year!
YOUR WINNER IS....
2000 Royal Rumble = recieving 52 points.
YES so the Rumble you voted for as your winner is the 2000 Royal Rumble which The Rock won last eliminating Big Show!
Brilliant top 2! 2000 is my all time favourite PPV. The whole card was solid!
Thank you for doing this Rob, I know we've all been quiet these past few weeks or so, but it's still appreciated!
