We start with the thread with the news of:
QUOTE Toronado, Dawn Approach, Al Kazeem and Cirrus Des Aigles are the headline names among an array of European stars entered for the third Qipco British Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday October 19.
Cirrus Des Aigles, the 2011 winner of the fixture's showpiece event the Qipco Champion Stakes, could bid to recapture Europe's richest 10-furlong race after being defeated in the race last year by Frankel. Frankel was the star name during the first two years of British Champions Day, guaranteeing the nascent fixture a high profile, and with the unbeaten superstar now retired to stud duties a new headline-grabbing attraction is required. That could come in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, which Toronado and Dawn Approach are both entered for, raising the tantalising possibility that the pair may resume a fierce rivalry that currently stands 2-1 in favour of Dawn Approach. Dawn Approach won their first two meetings, in the 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes, before Toronado struck back in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last week. Toronado also holds an entry in the Champion Stakes, as does his stablemate and 1,000 Guineas winner Sky Lantern, plus the British, Irish and French Derby winners (Ruler Of The World, Trading Leather and Intello). Britain's leading older racehorse Al Kazeem, winner of the Prince of Wales's Stakes and the Coral-Eclipse, is another engaged for the race. The Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes, being run as a Group 1 for the first time, has doubled in value to £500,000 and attracted a plethora of European talent. The first three home in the British Oaks (Talent, Secret Gesture and The Lark) join the first three in the Irish Oaks (Chicquita, Venus De Milo and Just Pretending) and the German Oaks winner Penelopa. Last year's winner Sapphire and The Fugue represent the cream of the older generation, while Germany's Nymphea and South Africa's Igugu head the overseas raiders. The Queen could be represented on Champions Day after her Ascot Gold Cup winner Estimate was entered for the Group 3 Long Distance Cup alongside Michael Owen's Brown Panther. Former Gold Cup winners Rite Of Passage and Colour Vision also figure, as does France's Gloomy Sunday, an impressive Group 3 winner at Sandown in May. Lethal Force, Society Rock, Sole Power, Soft Falling Rain and Sea Siren lead the entries for the Group 2 Sprint. This post has been edited by Mack'sXmasSack: Nov 9 2017, 11:20 PM |

Yes! Got the winner of the Rose of Lancaster Stakes with David Livingston winning at 15-2 with Telescope second and Noble Mission third. well done I occasionally go to the races. Not that I know much, but friends and family are mad on it. They have concerts afterwards sometimes too...bonus! My failsafe method of picking winners is to go for those that have names linked to songs or pop stars or sci fi. Sadly, I'd have gone for Telescope.... |

Good day for you, SevenSeize.
3 wins today, a runner-up in the Champion Hurdle and a third in the Arkle. Fantastic Quevega winning her 6th Mares Hurdle. What a horse she is. The first ever 6-time Cheltenham Festival winner surpassing Golden Miller's record. The Champion Hurdle tainted by the sad news of Our Conor who had be put down after a heavy fall. Quite a shock in the Arkle. 33-1 Western Warhorse for David Pipe and Tom Scuadmore pipping Champagne Fever on the line. Here's the racecard for tomorrow |

Only a second for me today with Ballyalton in the opener at 20-1
Well done to Sire De Grugy for winning the Champion Chase. Bad news though about a second fatality with Akdam in the Fred Winter and also wishing a good recovery for Bryan Cooper who sustained a broken leg in the same race. |

got Morning Assembly and Katgary on e/w (9/1 and 8/1 respectively), as well as Balthazar King. didn't have much luck with Clondaw Kaempfer and Dunguib in the 2.40
really unfortunate to hear the news re: akdam & bryan cooper! |

good day for me; Arctic Fire, The Giant Bolster & Pearlysteps all placed in e/w bets thus far! still got Tanks For That to go in the last race
on the other end of the spectrum, had a separate bet on Silviniaco Conti to win + a failed placepot (never had much luck on those this wk anyway) good on you Mack for backing On His Own, almost a winner there even! |
