The 4-CD has just gone to No.1 on UK Amazon. £19.99. Bit dear though. One disc is £10.99

Posted by: pippa 20th August 2022, 10:06 PM

£19.99 is not bad for the 4 cd collection when 1 is £10.99.

Is that predictions for the end of week? Would be great if Madonna could hold on Top 10 in the US but I’d be happy with Top 20. Would be cool if it can outpeak You Can Dance which was #14 in the US.

Predicted for #1 in Australia! Also midweek #2 in Germany.

Madonna has the most bought album in the US midweek Top 20:

Lmao at some albums selling only 25 copies!

It's great how much this album is being a Week 1 success.
I truly didn't have high expectations for its chart fortunes, but it's been knocking it out of the ballpark.

Not going to think about Week 2, just enjoy the hit it is at the moment.

Madonna nostalgia is always going to be more popular than new material.

Posted by: Liam.k. 27th August 2022, 01:40 PM

#3 and 14k sales is so much better than I expected, in fact double the sales I thought it would achieve! Very happy with its progress around the world too.

The album was #2 on sales and downloads in the UK and #48 on streams. It's definitely taken away streams from 'The Immaculate Collection' which was #70 last week and disappears this week. For comparison, 'Madame X' was #33 on streams upon debut.

Sales paragraph from Music Week:

QUOTE
The first and only act to register 50 No.1 hits on America’s Dance Club Songs chart, as published in Billboard, Madonna achieved the feat in February 2020, when I Don’t Search I Find – from her Madame X album – reached the summit some 37 years after the double-header Holiday/Lucky Star started the ball rolling with a five-week residency atop the list. To celebrate the achievement, Madonna herself has curated the new compilation Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones, which includes some remixes and some original versions of the songs, all newly remastered. Debuting at No.3 (14,132 sales), it is her 28th Top 75 album and 23rd Top 10 entry. It is now a little more than a decade since she last reached No.1, doing so in April 2012 with MDNA.

Latest projection was for #8! However sales are really close so it could easily miss the Top 10.

.@Madonna becomes the first female artist to earn new top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 in each of the last five decades (1980s, 90s, 00s, 10s and 20s).

Madonna Becomes First Woman to Earn Billboard 200 Top 10 Albums Each Decade Since the ‘80s
By Keith Caulfield | 08/29/2022

Her remix retrospective 'Finally Enough Love' starts at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and tops multiple other charts, including Top Album Sales & Vinyl Albums.

Madonna becomes the first woman with newly charting top 10 titles on the Billboard 200 albums chart in the 1980s, ‘90s, 2000s, ‘10s and now the ‘20s. The Queen of Pop’s new remix compilation, Finally Enough Love, debuts at No. 8 on the Sept. 3-dated chart. She’s just the 10th act to have achieved this distinction – and the other nine are all solo male artists or groups comprising men.

Madonna notched her first top 10 album on the Billboard 200 with her self-titled debut effort, which reached the top 10 dated Oct. 6, 1984 (rising 12-10), and peaked at No. 8 two weeks later (Oct. 20, 1984). She logged a total of five top 10s on the Billboard 200 in the 1980s (Madonna, Like a Virgin, True Blue, the Who’s That Girl soundtrack and Like a Prayer), seven in the ‘90s (I’m Breathless: Music From and Inspired by the Film Dick Tracy, The Immaculate Collection, Erotica, Bedtime Stories, Something to Remember, the Evita soundtrack and Ray of Light), six in the 2000s (Music, GHV2: Greatest Hits Volume 2, American Life, Confessions on a Dance Floor, Hard Candy and Celebration) and four in the ‘10s (Sticky & Sweet Tour, MDNA, Rebel Heart and Madame X).

Of those 23 top 10s, nine reached No. 1: Like a Virgin, True Blue, Like a Prayer, Music, American Life, Confessions on a Dance Floor, Hard Candy, MDNA and Madame X.

Acts With New Top 10 Albums on the Billboard 200 Chart in the 1980s, ‘90s, 2000s, ‘10s & ‘20s:

AC/DC
Def Leppard
Paul McCartney
Madonna
Metallica
Ozzy Osbourne
Robert Plant
Prince
Bruce Springsteen
James Taylor

Meanwhile, McCartney (including his work with Wings), Springsteen and Taylor’s streaks stretch back six decades to the ’70s, and that’s not counting the output of, and McCartney’s driving contributions to, The Beatles, who landed 17 top 10 sets on the Billboard 200 in the ’60s (and 15 more since).

Highest Charting Dance/Electronic Remix Album in More Than a Decade

Finally Enough Love largely consists of previously released dance remixes, as the set celebrates Madonna’s 50 No. 1s on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart. She remains the first and only act with at least 50 No. 1s on any single Billboard chart.

Finally Enough Love is the first remix album to reach the top 10 on the Billboard 200 since 2014, when Beyoncé’s six-track More Only EP debuted and peaked at No. 8 on the Dec. 13, 2014 chart. The last remix album to chart higher was Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never: The Remixes which debuted at No. 1 on the March 5, 2011-dated chart. And, Finally Enough Love is the highest-charting dance/electronic remix album in more than a decade, since Lady Gaga’s The Remix debuted and peaked at No. 6 on the Aug. 21, 2010, chart.

Top Selling Album of the Week

Finally Enough Love is also the top-selling album of the week in the U.S., as the set launches atop Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart with 28,000 copies sold. It also debuts at No. 1 on Top Current Album Sales.

It’s her eighth No. 1 on the 31-year-old Top Album Sales chart. (It launched on May 25, 1991.) Among women, only Taylor Swift has more No. 1s on this chart, with 10, while Beyoncé is in third, with seven.

The retrospective was available in either a 16-track standard album and an expanded 50-track deluxe set. Physical album sales comprise 23,000 (12,000 on vinyl and 11,000 on CD) and digital album sales comprise 5,000.

Finally also starts at No. 1 on Vinyl Albums with 12,000 sold – Madonna’s largest sales week for a vinyl album since Luminate began tracking sales in 1991. The 16-track standard album was available in multiple color variants exclusively sold through Target, Walmart and Amazon, in addition to its standard black LP. Its 50-track version was available in in a limited-edition box set with six LPs (6,000 manufactured globally).

Finally additionally launches at No. 1 on both Top Dance/Electronic Albums and Tastemaker Albums. The former ranks the most popular dance/electronic albums of the week, by equivalent album units. The latter tallies the top-selling albums at independent and small chain record stores.

Madonna Ties for Fourth-Most Top 10 Albums on Billboard 200 Among Soloists

As Finally Enough Love marks Madonna’s 23rd top 10, that ties her with Bob Dylan for the fourth-most top 10s among solo acts.

Here’s an updated look at the artists with at least 20 top 10 albums on the Billboard 200, from March 24, 1956, when the list began publishing on a regular, weekly basis, through Sept. 3, 2022.

Most Billboard 200 Top 10s:

37, The Rolling Stones
34, Barbra Streisand
32, The Beatles
32, Frank Sinatra
27, Elvis Presley
23, Bob Dylan
23, Madonna
21, Elton John
21, Paul McCartney/Wings
21, Bruce Springsteen
21, George Strait
20, Prince

(Notably, The Kidz Bop Kids music brand has collected 24 top 10s, in 2005-16, with its series of kid-friendly covers of hit singles. The franchise’s early albums were performed mostly by anonymous studio singers, although later releases focused on branding named talent.)

^ yes this has helped second week early position

with no tracks on the popular playlist it was never going to hold up well (week 2)

will be interesting to see if the vinyls and cd collections decrease in price throughout the year!

I may get it if the vinyl does decrease but it would need to be about half price for me to be tempted

Also interestingly, she's ahead of both Steps and Aitch who both beat her in last week's chart.

I imagine Aitch could still overtake despite being #31 in the update - don't know sales for today, but last Tuesday saw #17 sell 1.8k and #31 sell 1.3k so Aitch could easily overtake when you consider his his streaming advantage. Anyway, I'm happy that the album is likely to stay Top 40 for a second week which I did not expect at all.

2nd week is better than I thought, she should stay top 25.

Be interesting to see how long the streams keep this album in the chart at the expense of TIC. Demonstrates how her earliest hits still achieve the most streams I guess!

It's a decent strategy tbf laugh.gif It wouldn't have changed anything last week and it makes week 2 not look too disastrous!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 31st August 2022, 08:49 PM

I expected the album to do a 4-62 out type chart run so to be in with a shot for top 20 this week is a great result.

Posted by: aeroco 31st August 2022, 08:54 PM

It won’t plummet because of the streams…also that 50 questions video she did was very good and could bring some old fans back for a physical purchase.

The vinyl shipments are coming at the right time and will prolong the album in the upper reaches of the chart.

Like others, I truly expected a drop out of the Top 40 on second week, so the possibility of staying Top 20 is brilliant (almost better than I expected it to do first week!!)

So it’s probably fair to assume 1500 ‘streaming’ sales?

Posted by: -Jay- 1st October 2022, 11:46 AM

Not to take away from it but it is being majorly helped by the fact it’s acting as a Greatest Hits in terms of her streaming! Taking the place of Immaculate Collection. So unless for some reason the streaming reverts back to Immaculate Collection then we can expect Finally Enough Love to hang around in the Top 200… indefinitely? thinking.gif

How do they decide which Gh album streams go to it doesn’t make sense?? Album streams should only count if that album is selected and played in full by someone otherwise it’s so passive and ridiculous?

It used to be the case that the most bought album of the week got the streams (so sometimes it would alternate week by week) but I believe now the record company can choose which album gets the streams.

Posted by: CJK 1st October 2022, 06:39 PM

I don't care that it's helped by streaming of the major hits as a Greatest Hits.

Other acts do 10-15 different formats to boost sales and make No.1, others add every colaboration to their album to keep it alive, and there are lots of GHs that benefit in the same way.

If it's the chart rules then good for Madonna this time - especially as streaming has gone against her singles success for years.

I guess this will be her streaming album now unless the label opt to change it for the charts.

This should easily go gold by year end or maybe even sooner? I think when the Celebration tour is in the UK this album could perhaps return to the top 40 again? But it’s definitely done rather well so far.

I guess this will be her streaming album now unless the label opt to change it for the charts.

Definitely will achieve before year end; would only need to achieve just under 1k a week to make it by the last chart of the year and it's already managing 1.5k+.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 26th March 2023, 06:15 PM

It's her best chart run for a good while.

Posted by: Voodoo 1st April 2023, 01:21 PM

This "achievement" has nothing to do with the album itself. It's just catalogue streams that count towards it in expense of The Immaculate Collection. coffee.gif

Posted by: ChrisJK 1st April 2023, 01:31 PM

Yes, yes... we know.
Just like every other Hits Collection in the charts.

But it's the way the album charts work now, so we're just fans celebrating an official achievenent, whatever way it has been gained biggrin.gif

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 1st April 2023, 06:05 PM

Ya its no different so many other albums on the chart as its just the way the album chart works now,

Looks like she beat both Steps and Aitch to a certification. Who’d have thought that when they kept her at #3?

Only because all The Immaculate Collection streams are being allocated to this though. It's another way streaming is abused to inflate sales. Steps have attempted it too with The Platinum Collection but of course TIC has all those huge hits.

I am glad for Madonna of course, she deserves another certified album but claiming she beat her competitors is a bit silly really if it were real sales she would likely still be below both.

If The Weeknd can do it I don’t see why Madonna can’t. The pure sales were still much better than anybody expected which is a win. We all know where the “sales” are really coming from, it’s certainly not as egregious as what Mabel and Dua Lipa have done, tacking random features onto their albums

I'm not saying she can't do it, I'm saying it's cheating when you allocate sales from one album to another. Of course others do it too but statements saying "she beat Aitch" who has no other album to transfer those sales from is a bit ridiculous really. blink.gif

Understandable but if those streams had helped her get the #1 ahead of Aitch and Steps (I wish) would you still believe it wouldn’t have really “beaten” them?

Well that's not the same really. I'm not disputing the chart positions or the sales I am just saying that claiming it has beaten Steps and Aitch is a bit silly since it has essentially cheated it's way to it in a way that Aitch especially cannot do. Steps have likely done the same giving Gold or TUC sales to Platinum Collection they just don;t have any streaming power laugh.gif

I get what you're saying, but personally I think it's silly to say that Madonna (or her team) has "cheated" their way to the chart sales Finally Enough Love has achieved. Cheating is, effectively, not following the rules or acting in a dishonest way. No rules have been broken; the OCC wouldn't allow it.
It's like saying Ed Sheeran cheats his way no a No.1 single. Nope... he's just used the formats available to him to get ahead.

If we're going to say that Madonna (or Ed) cheated, then we may as well say Steps cheated their way to a No.1 album by releasing multiple formats, and signing some of them, all in week one, knowing their fanbase would buy all or most of them and inflate their sales. They didn't cheat... again, they just used what was available to them to get the success.

Madonna did not beat Steps or Aitch in week one... but it will always be on record that Finally Enough Love did spend a lot longer in the charts that the two albums that beat its chart position in week one, and it ultimately racked up more "chart sales" than they did as well.

Posted by: tommie 3rd April 2023, 12:14 PM

I mean, it's a bit silly that regular single/album versions probably are being counted towards Finally Enough Love and not just the actual versions presented on the album.

Posted by: No Sleeep 3rd April 2023, 12:29 PM

To be fair though the OCC doesn’t differentiate between remixes and originals so that’s consistent with their rules

I know alot of it is fake sales as they say but that applies to most albums these days but that's how the market works but I have to say when this was released first I expected nothing more than about a 3 week chart run and a struggle to go silver months later and here we are with one of her best chart runs for a long time and heading for gold and outselling her previous studio album, it's a job well done.

Finally Enough love is on 88,394 sales and Madame X is on 62,631 (sales are from this weeks sales thread in the chart forum)

Madonna compilation Finally Enough Love is back in the Top 75 for the first time since January, re-entering at No.27 (3,635 sales). Madonna’s health woes doubtless provided some impetus but the real reason the album - which debuted and peaked at No.3 last August – is back in the chart is the release of a new 6 LP ‘rainbow edition’ of the set, which typically sells for more than £130 and provided 54.64% (1,986) of its sales in the latest frame. The album’s to-date consumption of 88,394 units is higher than Madonna’s latest studio album, Madame X, which has sold 62,531 units since its June 2019 release.

My estimate for the album prior to this week was 84.8k so I was bang on! ohmy.gif

Happy to get an update for Madame X too, wasn’t expecting to get that.

Posted by: vibe 8th July 2023, 06:56 AM

Do we know how many units of the 88,000 are physical?

Posted by: Liam.k. 9th July 2023, 02:17 PM

1,649 of sales last week weren't from vinyl, obviously the vast majority of them coming from streams. The overall total of 3,635 is the second highest weekly chart sales - more than what it sold at #18 in its second week!

I'm just missing a couple of positions if anyone can fill in the blanks?

The success of the album is such a huge surprise. Great sales and her best chart run for a very long time.

Well it became clear quite early into its chart life that it is streams of her hits (original versions) that is going towards Finally Enough Love's sales. So technically it's not this album and the specific mixes included on it that is the sustained success here. It just so happens that this album is acting as a representative for Madonna hits being streamed... which feels fake to me, but hey, that's the OCC's system for you. If they specifically only took into account the mixes, then the album would have had a considerably shorter chart run once the pure sales dried up.

The Spotify stream numbers for the remixes, which are worldwide, are quite low. The majority of the tracks haven't passed 1 million in 18 months.
