Also, I believe the last known official figure for Music was 1,594,045 from March 2006 - 37,795 in 12 years and 8 months.

For comparison, Like a Virgin and Ray of Light had sold 45-50k between November 2006 and October 2017 10 years and 11 months.

Last known sales for 'Frozen' happen to be a year ago (582,353). It's averaging over 300 copies a week.

It's her third Platinum certified song, following 'Hung Up' and '4 Minutes', although 11 of her songs in total have sold 600k+.

From the OCC regarding 'Like a Prayer':

QUOTE
No surprise, then, that it was Madonna’s sixth Number 1 in the UK, staying there for three weeks. In total, it’s sold 628,000 copies – it was the 11th bestselling single of 1989 – and has amassed almost 18 million audio streams in the UK since Official Charts started counting in 2014.

Puts its total at ~808k (I say approximately, the ratio for premium and ad-funded streams are different and that's not been differentiated. Also, no video streaming total) which is 15k more than the previous total of 793k given last August.

We have a new entry to the album chart this week: The Very Best of Madonna: Radio Waves 1984-1995. It's an independent release from 2016 and seems to feature live versions of songs within the years stated in the title. No idea why it's charting now - me and Jay were discussing it and we think it's an error from the OCC, particularly as The Immaculate Collection has suddenly disappeared.

Nevertheless, it becomes Madonna's 29th charting album.

The sales of Music the album always shock me.

It’s never seen of as being one of her best albums by the fans.

Whenever I see lists of people rating her albums it’s always like the forgotten album.

Confessions felt much bigger than Music and seemed like a real moment in her career despite it being on lower sales although I guess Music followed Ray of Light and was released in a high sales climate.

Christmas 2000 had crazy high sales which helped Music a great deal. It sold 245,911 copies on Christmas week and that was at #4! ohmy.gif As you say, being the follow-up to Ray of Light will have helped and I think that being linked to Guy Ritchie and living in the UK gave her even more exposure in the media.

Music was a huge era for her , American pie and music were both number 1 hits in the charts and in radio. She was adored during these times, not abused like she is now.

She had the Brixton gig her first live gig since 1993 and then she launched the tour .

This album is totally not forgotten by fans .

I may have exaggerated by forgotten but it’s not spoken of as much as albums like Ray of Light and Confessions are in terms of the second phase of her career. I follow Madonna fan sites on social media and rarely see any posts connected to that era. I definitely think Confessions seemed bigger as an era but maybe that’s due to my age I was 5 when Music came out but close to 11 when Confessions did so I remember it more.

Even American Life seems to be a preferred album to it although that may just be in terms of fans and not the GP.

OCC:

Corinne Bailey Rae's vinyl revival bop Put Your Records On was a new entry in at Number 2 in February 2006, 10,000 CD and download sales behind Madonna's Sorry. But fast forward 13 years and the tide has turned. Corinne's bridesmaid hit has now sold 70,701 more downloads while it's streaming figure of 40.5 million swamps the 3.4 million achieved to date by Madge's 12th chart topper. Overall, Put Your Records On is BRIT Certified Platinum with combined sales of 656,000.

A shame they didn't give a figure for 'Sorry'. sad.gif Streaming ratios now differ depending on whether they're premium or free streams, but if we pretend the ratio is still 1:100 for all streams, that would be 34k sales from streaming. Pure sales for 'Sorry' stand at ~205k, which would put its total sales at ~240k. I imagine its actual sale total is close enough to that figure.
