Her first chart-topper was 16 years ago, back in 2001 - "Lady Marmalade", her collaboration with Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim and Mya. A year later, in 2002, Pink had her first solo number 1 - "Get The Party Started". 2 more chart-toppers followed - "Stupid Girls" and "So What". There was no European chart broadcast on MTV Europe between August 2012 and the end of 2013, otherwise Pink might have had 2 additional number ones - "Blow Me One Last Kiss" and her duet with Nate Ruess, "Just Give Me A Reason". |

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe)
Here is the chart of September 16, 2017: 40 39 38 37 36 Macklemore - Glorious 6 Down 35 David Guetta & Justin Bieber - 2U 34 33 Robin Schulz & James Blunt - OK 5 Down 32 Portugal. The Man - Feel It Still 3 Up 31 30 Shawn Mendes - There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back 5 Down 29 Chris Brown - Questions 2 Up 28 Charlie Puth - Attention 27 26 Enrique Iglesias - Subeme La Radio 4 Down 25 24 Avicii - Without You 4 Down 23 Bruno Mars - Versace On The Floor 22 Jonas Blue & William Singe - Mama 4 Down 21 Jax Jones & Demi Lovato - Instruction 4 Down 20 19 18 Miley Cyrus - Younger Now 17 16 French Montana - Unforgettable Stay => 15 The Script - Rain 2 Down 14 Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee - Despacito 13 DJ Khaled & Rihanna - Wild Thoughts 5 Down 12 Imagine Dragons - Thunder Stay => 11 10 9 Dua Lipa - New Rules 4 Down 8 7 Axwell & Ingrosso - More Than You Know 3 Up 6 5 Katy Perry - Swish Swish 22 Up 4 3 Calvin Harris, Pharrell Williams & Katy Perry - Feels Stay => 2 Pink - What About Us 1 Down 1 Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do 1 Up "What About Us" falls to number 2 after spending 2 weeks at the top. In fact, most of Pink's number ones have spent fewer than 3 weeks at the top... Taylor Swift scores another chart-topper wirth "Look What You Made Me Do". She reached number 1 with "Shake It Off" and "Blank Space" in 2014. The most interesting case is "Bad Blood". The song did appear in the chart (judging by the corresponding editions of MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20"), MTV Europe just never played it! It supposedly spent one week at number 1... however, unfortunately, I wasn't able to watch that particular edition of the chart! I will always wonder whether MTV Europe played "Bad Blood" at least during that edition... or they skipped the number 1!?... |

Of Pink's singles, only "Get The Party Started" has spent more weeks at the top of MTV Europe's European chart - 4. Zayn scores his third number 2 hit with "Dusk Till Dawn" - the previous 2 were "Pillowtalk" and "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" with Taylor Swift (whose "Look What You Made Me Do" was last week's chart-topper but is now a place below Zayn and Sia). Could "Dusk Till Dawn" finally give Zayn a number 1? And MTV Europe finally played "Sun Comes Up" by Rudimental and James Arthur - weeks after it appeared in MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20"... |

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe)
Here is the chart of October 7, 2017: 40 39 Chris Brown - Questions 15 Down 38 37 Charlie Puth - Attention 36 Martin Solveig & ALMA - All Stars 19 Down 35 34 Portugal. The Man - Feel It Still 15 Down 33 Jonas Blue & William Singe - Mama 32 Louis Tomlinson & Bebe Rexha - Back To You 11 Down 31 Logic - 1-800-273-8255 11 Down 30 29 28 27 26 25 Rudimental & James Arthur - Sun Comes Up 11 Down 24 Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee - Despacito 9 Down 23 22 21 Avicii - Without You 3 Down 20 Imagine Dragons - Thunder 7 Down 19 18 French Montana - Unforgettable 6 Down 17 Axwell & Ingrosso - More Than You Know 8 Down 16 15 14 Calvin Harris, Pharrell Williams & Katy Perry - Feels 7 Down 13 Rita Ora - Your Song 3 Down 12 The Script - Rain 1 Down 11 10 9 Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do 5 Down 8 7 Dua Lipa - New Rules 4 Down 6 Zayn & Sia - Dusk Till Dawn 1 Down 5 Avicii & Rita Ora - Lonely Together 4 3 2 Sam Smith - Too Good At Goodbyes 1 Down 1 Pink - What About Us 1 Up "What About Us" by Pink is at number 1 for a fourth (nonconsecutive) week. Thus it equals the 4 weeks spent at the top of the chart by "Get The Party Started" back in 2002. It's also notable that MTV Europe played 2 songs by Avicii - "Without You" and "Lonely Together". Usually when there are 2 songs by the same artist in a particular edition of this chart, MTV Europe just play one of them... |

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe)
Here is the chart of October 14, 2017: 50 49 48 47 46 45 44 43 42 41 Niall Horan - Too Much To Ask 40 39 38 Louis Tomlinson & Bebe Rexha - Back To You 6 Down 37 Martin Solveig & ALMA - All Stars 1 Down 36 Jonas Blue & William Singe - Mama 3 Down 35 Chris Brown - Questions 4 Up 34 DJ Khaled & Rihanna - Wild Thoughts 33 32 31 Avicii - Without You 10 Down 30 29 28 27 Portugal. "Too Good At Goodbyes" returns at the top for a second (nonconsecutive) week. Sam Smith's only other chart-topper - "Writing's On The Wall" - spent a sole week at number 1 so at least by this metric "Too Good At Goodbyes" is now his biggest chart hit. |

"What About Us" by Pink is back at number 1 for a fifth (nonconsecutive) week - a total accumulated over 4 separate runs at the top! Thus it improves on the achievement of "Get The Party Started" by becoming Pink's first song to spend 5 weeks at number 1 in this chart! She first appeared in the chart with "There You Go" back in 2000... Well, Pink has waited for 17 years to score her biggest hit! |

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe)
Here is the chart of October 28, 2017: 50 49 48 47 46 45 44 43 42 Charlie Puth - Attention 41 Louis Tomlinson & Bebe Rexha - Back To You 1 Down 40 DJ Khaled & Rihanna - Wild Thoughts 2 Down 39 38 Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee - Despacito 37 36 Kygo & Justin Jesso - Stargazing 35 The Script - Rain 14 Down 34 Chris Brown - Questions 5 Up 33 32 31 30 Katy Perry - Swish Swish 12 Down 29 Niall Horan - Too Much To Ask 28 Logic - 1-800-273-8255 Stay => 27 26 Axwell & Ingrosso - More Than You Know 3 Down 25 Imagine Dragons - Thunder Stay => 24 French Montana - Unforgettable 4 Down 23 Rudimental & James Arthur - Sun Comes Up 22 21 20 Calvin Harris, Pharrell Williams & Katy Perry - Feels 3 Down 19 18 17 Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do 1 Down 16 15 14 Dua Lipa - New Rules 13 12 11 Portugal. MTV Europe played just 8 songs from the Top 20 during this edition of the chart. I don't think this is acceptable. For example, I really don't understand why the keep on skipping CNCO's "Reggaeton Lento" when they could play the version that is a collaboration with Little Mix. After all, they did play both "Despacito" and "Subeme La Radio" - and their videos are the versions which are only in Spanish!... |

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe)
Here is the chart of November 11, 2017: 50 49 48 47 46 45 DJ Khaled & Rihanna - Wild Thoughts 44 43 42 Martin Solveig & ALMA - All Stars 41 40 39 Lauv - I Like Me Better 5 Down 38 The Script - Rain 1 Down 37 Axwell & Ingrosso - More Than You Know 36 35 34 French Montana - Unforgettable 10 Down 33 Calvin Harris, Pharrell Williams & Katy Perry - Feels 11 Down 32 31 Taylor Swift - ...Ready For It? 30 Kygo & Justin Jesso - Stargazing 6 Up 29 Craig David - Heartline Stay => 28 Rudimental & James Arthur - Sun Comes Up 10 Down 27 Paloma Faith - Crybaby 7 Down 26 Niall Horan - Too Much To Ask 7 Down 25 24 23 Stefflon Don - Hurtin' Me 2 Down 22 21 20 19 Dua Lipa - New Rules 18 Khalid - Young, Dumb & Broke 7 Up 17 16 15 Avicii & Rita Ora - Lonely Together 5 Down 14 13 12 11 Sam Smith - Too Good At Goodbyes 2 Down 10 Charlie Puth - How Long 1 Up 9 8 Portugal. The Man - Feel It Still 2 Down 7 6 5 4 Pink - What About Us 3 Down 3 Zayn & Sia - Dusk Till Dawn 1 Down 2 1 Rita Ora - Anywhere 26 Up This is the twelfth time in 2017 that MTV Europe played songs placed below the Top 40. "Your Song" by Rita Ora reached number 2 in the chart earlier this year. Now "Anywhere" does one better by jumping from number 27 to number 1... The problem is that I don't think this is deserved (at least yet) - apart from the UK, the song isn't having success anywhere in Europe so far... |

Euro Top 40 - (as broadcast on MTV Europe)
Here is the chart of November 18, 2017: 50 49 48 47 46 Craig David - Heartline 17 Down 45 44 Calvin Harris & Kehlani - Faking It 43 42 41 Rudimental & James Arthur - Sun Comes Up 13 Down 40 39 38 Paloma Faith - Crybaby 11 Down 37 U2 - You're The Best Thing About Me 36 35 French Montana - Unforgettable 1 Down 34 33 Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Holy Mountain 32 31 30 29 Calvin Harris, Pharrell Williams & Katy Perry - Feels 4 Up 28 Kygo & Justin Jesso - Stargazing 2 Up 27 Stefflon Don - Hurtin' Me 4 Down 26 25 Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do 24 23 J Balvin & Willy William - Mi Gente 22 Dua Lipa - New Rules 3 Down 21 20 Khalid - Young, Dumb & Broke 2 Down 19 18 N*E*R*D* & Rihanna - Lemon 17 Liam Payne - Bedroom Floor 16 Avicii & Rita Ora - Lonely Together 1 Down 15 14 13 12 11 Sam Smith - Too Good At Goodbyes Stay => 10 Portugal. The Man - Feel It Still 2 Down 9 8 7 Pink - What About Us 3 Down 6 Charlie Puth - How Long 4 Up 5 4 Zayn & Sia - Dusk Till Dawn 1 Down 3 2 1 Rita Ora - Anywhere Stay => This is the thirteenth time in 2017 that MTV Europe played songs placed below the Top 40. N*E*R*D* are back in the chart after 13 years. They appeared a couple of times - with "She Wants To Move" (which puzzlingly went as high as number 2) and "Maybe". ...And this all happened in 2004 - a year before their collaborator in their current single "Lemon" made her debut in MTV Europe's European chart... Rihanna would go on to become the most successful artist in the history of the chart - no one else has scored as many number ones... Yet there is something even more remarkable in this edition of the chart - MTV Europe finally played "Mi Gente"! Although it could be said that it's offensively late - the song has already left the Top 20 and, judging by MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20", it peaked at number 3... It's a rare occasion to have a song not in English in this chart - and even rarer for the song to be in more than one non-English language! "Mi Gente" contains both Spanish and (a little) French. At the moment I can think of one other example - "Danza Kuduro" by Don Omar and Lucenzo, which was in both Spanish and Portuguese... |

Mabel, who appears at number 27 with "Finders Keepers", is Neneh Cherry's daughter. Neneh Cherry's last appearance in the chart (so far) was in 1996 - 21 years ago! - with "Woman". 2 years earlier she had a massive hit - her duet with Youssou N'Dour, "7 Seconds". It's nice to see MTV Europe play "Katchi". Judging by MTV Italy's "Euro Top 20", Ofenbach's previous single "Be Mine" also reached the chart... but MTV Europe never played it! ...And it's not only that. They didn't show any of the songs placed between number 2 and number 5 in this edition of the chart. Those supposedly include "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran, "Havana" by Camila Cabello and "Silence" by Marshmello and Khalid. All of these 3 singles have music videos so I don't see the reason why MTV Europe is skipping them. After all, isn't the point of the chart to SHOW the current biggest hits?!... |

Let's look at the history of the singles from Ed Sheeran's latest album. Surprisingly, first "Castle On The Hill" appeared at number 1 in the chart but spent just a single week there... because it was immediately replaced by "Shape Of You"! The latter stayed at the top for 7 weeks. Then came "Galway Girl", which "only" peaked at number 4... However, now "Perfect" becomes Ed Sheeran's third chart-topper from his current album! |

"Runnin'" by Naughty Boy and Beyoncé Knowles peaked at number 3 in this chart in late 2015. The last time MTV Europe played the song was during the chart of February 13, 2016... ...But now "Runnin'" reappears in the chart at number 30! However, it turns out that this is not so random. A few months ago "Runnin'" did re-enter the singles charts in France, Switzerland and Spain - and climbed as high as number 2 in the French chart! DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY THIS HAPPENED? |

There are some Christmas-themed songs from previous years in this edition of the chart. Just like last year, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and "Last Christmas" make an appearance. Once again, MTV Europe played the So So Def Remix video from 2000 of "All I Want For Christmas Is You". And "Do They Know It's Christmas?" by Band Aid 30 is back for the first time since it topped the chart 3 years ago. |

Then a special edition of the chart would be broadcast which showed the 20 most successful songs during the whole year (how accurate that edition was is another question). However, the last time MTV Europe played such a special edition of the chart was in 2006... Now, more than 10 years later, MTV Europe broadcast an edition of the chart for the whole year 2017! |
