BuzzJack Music Forum _ Movies and Theatre _ Buzzjack's Top Animated Films Of All Time: The Results

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 Oct 24 2016, 05:53 PM

Over the last few weeks, you have been voting for your favourite animated films of all time and now its time to count down the results (Probably counting down the top 100!). We will be starting soon (maybe as early as tonight!)

Any top 10 predictions from anyone would be great to see?!

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 Oct 24 2016, 07:27 PM

SOME QUICK FACTS:

- Only 2 Animated films aimed at adults made the top 100!
- Just missing out in the 101-110 section includes a film more known for its script, a Dreamworks classic, a Roald Dahl classic, a recent Disney movie, a Disney classic, an Aardman feature, an utterly crap animation which thankfully placed at 101st and the most recent animation to be released in cinemas!
- 5 Animations released this year have made the top 100!

STUDIO BREAKDOWN OF THE TOP 100:
Disney- 30
Dreamworks- 16
Pixar- 16 Can anyone guess what was the only Pixar film to miss the top 100?!
Warner Bros Animation- 6
Aardman- 4

Laika- 3
Nickelodeon Movies- 3
Sony Pictures Animation- 3

Cars 2 or Good Dinosaur to miss the top 100? ohmy.gif

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 24 2016, 08:30 PM

I reckon 'The Good Dinosaur' has done better than people would think! But yeah, surely 'Cars 2' is the one to have missed out? ohmy.gif

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 Oct 25 2016, 09:07 AM

Also only 1 Laika movie has missed out! Any guesses for that one?!

Also any more top 10 predicts before we get started later today heart.gif (Horror may not start tonight as still need a reply from Froot!)

Preferably The Boxtrolls to miss out, I hated that movie. I'm hoping a classic Disney movie is going to win but starting to think it's a bit unlikely sad.gif Hope the likes of The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Bambi still finish up high biggrin.gif

Didn't realise that you'd included 'Trolls' too UV! I might have had it a couple of places higher had this been done in a few months time but there were some movies I felt I couldn't have it above, having only seen it last week laugh.gif

Expected, but something I'm always hoping will change, I think at this point the very fact that it IS an animated movie aimed at adults (oh, I should clarify in a mature way though, not in whatever way stuff like this Sausage Party thing thinks it's being adult) is enough to put it on my 'best of' list. The world has no more need for more goofy kids movies like most of this list will be (3D animation has a lot to answer for) - yet they just keep coming. Not that I don't enjoy a lot of those... but yeah. Clearly it's too far one way.

Ghibli films to be as high as possible. And as they won't win, go for a classic Disney one as the winner.

Shall we get started, any predictions for 100th?!

100. Yellow Submarine

152pts | 1968 | United Artists

Kicking off the top 100 is the only entry from United Artists Studio, The Beatles movie Yellow Submarine! This is also one of the few entries on this list that I have not seen!

Yellow Submarine was the Beatles third motion picture movie, and having not being satisfied with Help, they wanted to do an animated film to complete their commitment to United Artists. However due to the band members small roles, and the picture being animated, United Artists considered them to owe them another film (which would be Let It Be!)

The film included many classic Beatles track from the title of the movie to 'All You Need Is Love'! The film received widespread critical acclaim and the film was nominated for a Grammy award! There was going to be a motion picture remake but the quite unsatisfactory performance of 'A Christmas Carol' (which thankfully missed this list in 165th place) and the disastrous box office total for the heavily underrated 'Mars Need Moms' meant the remake was cancelled!

As I mentioned above I have not seen this film, but I really do want to check it out at some point due to being a big fan of The Beatles and seeing the recent Beatles documentary which has re-ignited my interest in them!

99. Happy Feet Two

158pts | 2011 | Warner Bros Animation
Top 10's: Ultraviolence1989 (#10)

15 films received a top 10 vote and have failed to make the top 100! (Including three people's number #1's all missing the list!). And just making the top 100 is the first film to receive a top 10 vote, courtesy of myself! My entire top 10 has made the top 100 (though my #11-#13 all fell short!)!

So into 99th place is a film that I am so glad has made it onto the list, the criminally underrated box office bomb sequel Happy Feet Two! The sequel to the 2006 smash hit really underperformed compared to box office expectations (the bloodbath of releasing 3 or 4 animated features in 2 weeks in America and the UK- Happy Feet Two and Hugo in both territories, Arthur Christmas/Muppets for US and Puss In Boots for UK meant that all the films got affected box office wise!) The film reunited most of the cast from the first feature, the only difference being the sad death of Brittany Murphy meant that Pink voiced her character in the sequel. The sequel also saw the addition of Brad Pitt and Matt Damon as two Krill fish! The film received mixed reviews and opened way under box office expectations.

I am so glad this managed to sneak a placing here as I utterly adore the Happy Feet franchise and this is one of the most charming movies I have ever seen, as well as being one of my favourites of all time! It is basically just more of the first one and the penguins are absolutely adorable as usual! I saw this twice in cinemas, once on release and once for Kids AM which is still one of the most packed cinema screenings I have ever been to! I just adore this movie wub.gif

Predict 98th! A hint is that it is the 2nd lowest Laika or Pixar film in the countdown!

Nope kink.gif sad.gif

98. The Good Dinosaur

159pts (No Top 20's) | 2015 | Pixar
Top 20's: N/A

And we lose our first Pixar flick very quickly into the countdown with their 2nd most recent effort, The Good Dinosaur! (For Pixar films, only Cars 2 came lower, storming to a fabulous finish of 165th rotf.gif) And I am really annoyed this has finished so low as it is one of the most underrated animations of this decade for me sad.gif The film nearly cracked my top 20 (while receiving a top 40 from Jonjo and some points from Josh) and it just seemed to go by completely unnoticed by most people!

The film was originally set to come out in 2013 and then 2014 but faced production problems including director changes and casting changes which saw the film be pushed back to 2015- meaning that year was the first ever time Pixar have released two feature films in the same year! The film was Pixar's 16th feature film and is their lowest grossing film worldwide to date. The film actually opened solidly in America and the UK but had horrendous legs with it only just reaching a multiplier over 2 times its opening weekend in both countries. The film received pretty good reviews but not up to the usual standard for a Pixar film and the film was nominated for a Golden Globe in the best animated feature category!

I've gone on a few times about my love for this film so I won't go on again but I do find this so underrated sad.gif Yeah it may not be the most original film around but it is such a lovely and sweet movie and the characters were so cute. I also loved the footprint theme and touch with the dinosaur on a mission to earn his footprint, it was just a really beautiful and fabulous movie that I really wish was much higher, but at least it made the top 100!

Posted by: Josh. Oct 25 2016, 07:11 PM

Yeah, I've began to dislike TGD more as time goes on. My little sister adores it so I've seen it quite a few times now, just too dull and lacking in humour (aside from the tripping on fruit scene) to keep me very interested for long. It's probably THE most beautiful animated film of all-time though.

Boo at Cars 2 coming so low, I re-watched it the other day and still think it remains a lot of fun. I'm more excited for Cars 3 than I am Toy Story 4 for sure laugh.gif

Posted by: Brett-Butler Oct 25 2016, 07:15 PM

WHY DID NO-ONE TELL ME ABOUT THIS??? GRRRR!

Spirited Away to be top 10, please.

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 25 2016, 07:39 PM

Awww no! That's a shame. As Josh said as simple as the story is, it's really a beautifully stunning animation! The scenery scenes in particular! I still don't know if they were animated or just shots of reality, shoe-horned in! laugh.gif

It's a really sweet movie though. Having said that, I've had little desire to rewatch it, which is unsual in itself for a Disney film, let alone a Pixar one! Still better than 'Brave' for me...

Posted by: Iz~ Oct 25 2016, 10:47 PM

Yellow Submarine! I forgot about that but I have seen it - very good kooky film.

And I need to protect it from the terrible opinions of Toy Story fans :')

Posted by: HausofHorrors Oct 26 2016, 10:28 AM

The Good Dinosaur was harmless. If it wasn't a Pixar film I feel it might have been more liked. That sounds weird but I mean comparing it to other Pixar films makes you realise how low in comparison it is, but as a standalone film it's nice enough.

Posted by: HausofHorrors Oct 26 2016, 10:28 AM

p.s. considering what is to come in the top 100 can we ban Josh. from the thread? unsure.gif

Posted by: Froot. Oct 26 2016, 10:35 AM

So happy that Yellow Submarine managed to scrape into the Top 100! A very surreal film but one I very much loved as a child.

97. Pocahontas

159pts (One Top 20) | 1995 | Disney
Top 20's: Haus (#15)

And we lose our first of 30 Disney films in this countdown in the form of Pocahontas, which I was expecting to be quite a lot higher! The film is definitely one of the more popular Disney features and received one top 20 from Haus!

Pocahontas was the 33rd Disney feature film and was part of the first Disney Renaissance! The film is inspired by history and folklore surrounding the Native American woman Pocahontas! The film received mixed reviews- praised for its animation and music but criticised for the film's historically inaccuracy and story. The film was a commercial success, grossing nearly $350M at the box office, and won two Oscars for its score and 'Colors In The Wind', one of the Disney classic songs! As with most Disney films, it received a direct to DVD sequel a few years later!

Pocahontas is definitely a Disney classic and I did think it would appear quite a bit higher than this, nevertheless Pocahontas is the first Disney and first Disney Princess to fall! (However she isn't the lowest Disney princess, one Disney princess has shockingly missed the top 100, any guesses?!). Pocahontas just missed my personal top 100, I love it and Colors Of The Wind is a Disney gem but I never go back to it very often and I have quite a lot of animations I prefer!

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 26 2016, 02:12 PM

Ooh surprised 'Pocahontas' is so low. Glad though. So bland and overrated!

Posted by: HausofHorrors Oct 26 2016, 02:12 PM

Was top 20 for me for the soundtrack alone! Gorgeous film - flawed yes, but nice enough.

Posted by: 👻 Booliver 👻 Oct 26 2016, 02:20 PM

Only seen Pocahontas out of the four revealed so far, surprised to see it so low!

Posted by: UltraBasicWitch Oct 26 2016, 04:04 PM

96. Fantasia

160pts | 1940 | Disney
Top 20's: Seven (#15)

In 96th we see our second Disney feature drop out (it'll be a little while to the next one though!) in the form of Disney's third feature film, Fantasia, which received a top 20 from SevenSeize!

The film features eight animated segments set to pieces of classical music and featured Mickey Mouse! The film was first released in theatrical roadshow engagements but received a mixed critical reaction and failed to make a profit as World War II stopped it being distributed in America. The film has been re-issued multiple times and is is now the 22nd highest-grossing film of all time in America when adjusted for inflation! The film has had a massive impact from the Sorcerer's hat to Disneyland attractions, to a live concert to a sequel! Nowadays the film is widely acclaimed and the American Film Institute ranked it as the 58th greatest American film ever in 1998 and the fifth greatest animated film in 2008!

I'd say 96th is a perfect position for this pretty much! Once again it just missed my top 100 and it is a classic Disney movie, just one I don't go back to too often!

Next up is a non Disney/Pixar film I was expecting to be much much higher on this list, any guesses?!

I hope you are enjoying the commentaries! I'm trying to make them as informative as possible but not too long!

I edited it in at the last minute (just outside the top 40 for me!). It will definitely be higher for me in future years as I also felt I couldn't really rank it any higher also due to seeing it only last week! (It's just behind Kubo for me in terms of 2016 animation movies and Kubo just missed out of my top 25 so I expect Trolls will join that area next time we run this)!

Posted by: Sonia Fowler Oct 26 2016, 05:52 PM

I have only pocahontas so far Oops

Posted by: Undead Wombat Oct 26 2016, 08:55 PM

It's a tad dated, but Fantasia is still a real animation masterpiece so 96th feels far too low, though I did forget to vote for it so I can't complain too much there! Pocahontas is easily one of the worst Disney Renaissance films so glad to see that out relatively early.

Toy Story (shush Josh -_)/Spirited Away to win plz!

Posted by: Josh. Oct 26 2016, 09:05 PM

Pocahontas is a nice film but not one I go back to very often at all. It's probably about time I re-watched it now as I haven't seen it in years and don't remember so much about it. The best thing about it is defo Colors of the Wind.

Fantasia is a film I'd really like to watch, never seems to get great reviews or praise but it's one of those classic animated films that you've got to watch at least once and I think I'd enjoy it at least.

Believe me, if you read about the true story of Pocahontas, you'll be glad they took lots of liberties with the Disney version.

I watched it for the first time in ages last year, it was a lot darker than I remembered and definitely darker than many Disney films (I believe it was the first Disney animated film to feature an on-screen human death), but still rather memorable.

95. The Iron Giant

162pts | 1999 | Warner Bros Animatino
Top 20's: DalekTurret (#11)

In 96th is a film I was expecting to finish much much higher in this countdown, The Iron Giant, which received a top 20 from DalekTurret!

The film is Brad Bird's directional debut (who of course will be having more films later in this list!) and featured the voices of actors such as Jennifer Aniston and Vin Diesel as the titular character! The film is set during the Cold War and is about a young boy discovering a giant metallic robot who fell from space! The film was originally going to be a musical but this was changed during production and the film significantly under-performed at the box office, making just over $30M from a budget between $70M-$80M. However the film received widespread critical acclaim, winning 9 Annie awards from the 15 it was nominated for and has gathered a cult following! The film was marketed horrendously by Warner Bros who didn't do any promotional tie-ins and set the release date for the movie at a very late time! The film has a fantastic 96% rating on RT and has gained fans and was recently released on blu-ray over the last year!

This is another film that nearly made my list but I haven't seen it for such a long time so I don't really remember it too well! I was actually expecting this to be contending for top 40 minimum so this finish really shocks me!

Posted by: HausofHorrors Oct 27 2016, 06:54 PM

The commentaries are fab btw Ultra! Really enjoying this countdown biggrin.gif

The Iron Giant I think I saw when I was at primary school, will need to revisit it as I can't remember much from it~

94. My Neighbour Totoro

164pts | 1988 | Studio Ghibli
Top 20's: Cody (#14)

And our first of four Studio Ghibli entries pops up at 94th and was Studio Ghibli's 3rd film released in cinemas! The film received a top 20 placing from Cody!

The film tells the story of two young daughters of a professor and their interactions with wood spirits in a postwar Japan. The film won many animation awards around the globe and is critically acclaimed with the movie and Totoro becoming cultural icons! Empire ranked the film as the 41st best films of World Cinema and Totoro was 18th on their best 50 animated characters! Terry Gilliam's greatest animated film list saw the film place at #1 and the character has made multiple appearances in Studio Ghibli films and video games and is one of the most popular characters of Japanese animation! The film has two English dub versions, one by Fox/Tokuma and one by Disney! Totoro has been described as being as famous for Japanese children as Winnie-The-Pooh is for us and Totoro made a cameo appearance in a film still to come on this list, Toy Story 3! An asteroid has also been named after Totoro and a velvet worm species has also been named after the titular character! The film has also received a book and an anime spin-off!

This is the second film on the list that I have never seen and I am really desperate to watch it! It looks adorable and exactly the kind of animation I would love!

Posted by: UltraBasicWitch Oct 27 2016, 07:26 PM

93. Antz

165pts | 1998 | Dreamworks
Top 20's: Jacob (#20)

And into 93rd place, we have our first of two films about ants on this list (#JusticeForTheAntBully to start now please!), with the Dreamworks one of course coming lower than the Pixar once as usual! The film sneaked a top 20 placing from Jacob!

The film includes voices from Woody Allen, Jennifer Lopez, Sharon Stone, Sylvester Stallone, Dan Aykroyd, Anne Bancroft, Gene Hackman and more! Antz is the first animated film from Dreamworks and the second ever computer-animated picture after Toy Story! The film's production resulted in a massive public feud between Jeffrey Katzenberg (DreamWorks), and Steve Jobs/John Lasseter (Pixar) over the similarities between this and A Bug's Life. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and grossed over $170M while receiving critical acclaim with a surprisingly high 96% rating on RT! The feud between Disney and DreamWorks intensified as A Bug's Life was pitted against Dreamworks meant to be first released film The Prince Of Egypt. Egypt was then delayed but Disney continued to put more films in competition with it so Antz suddenly zapped forward half a year, to compete with A Bug's Life. A sequel to Antz was announced after successful box office grosses but never saw the light of the day! The film's legacy just pretty much seems to be the absolutely chaotic pre-production and the comparisons with the more successful A Bug's Life!

I adore Antz and I prefer it just to A Bug's Life! Both are excellent films and I am glad this has made the top 100!

Posted by: DalekTurret32 Oct 27 2016, 09:52 PM

I need to see Fantasia and My Neighbour Totoro, they look great from what I've heard!
I was pretty sad to realise that I forgot to add Flushed Away to my list when I submitted it onto the Top Animated Movies submission page. I would have put it between Hercules and Anastacia if I added it onto my list. Well, better luck next time, so I might need to do a list of films I've seen with my personal rankings on a document someday so that it will be less likely for me to forget something.

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 27 2016, 10:05 PM

Deserving of it's top 100 position, but 'A Bugs Life' is a lot better, for me. Maybe it's just coz my little brother used to just have this on repeat, but I do like it. Just nowhere near as much as others seem to. ABL is underrated as it is tbh.

Posted by: Undead Wombat Oct 27 2016, 10:18 PM

Totoro cry.gif Far too low, you all need to watch it, utterly glorious film and soundtrack.

I don't remember The Iron Giant all to well, though I do recall it being quite heartbreaking </3

Posted by: Izzy Dead People Oct 28 2016, 03:10 PM

Oh yes, Antz! I forgot about that one. Decent film, not better than Bugs' Life though.

Always say to myself I must watch Totoro, it looks brilliant.

92. Hoodwinked

172pts | 2006 | The Weinstein Company
Top 20's: Froot (#19)

And into 92nd place, we have our only Weinstein Company animation to make the list, in the form of a surprisingly in a good way high placing for Hoodwinked, which received a top 20 from Froot!

Hoodwinked retails Little Red Riding Hood as a police investigation and featured the voices of Anne Hathaway, Glenn Close and more! Hoodwinked was one of the first computer-animated films to be completely independently funded which allowed the filmmakers greater creative control but restrained them economically! The film was inspired by non-linear crime drama's such as Pulp Fiction, Memento and Run Lola Run and it received positive reviews for its script and cast but negative reviews for the animation quality! The film was a commercial success, earning 110M on just an 8M budget (incredibly low for an animation!) and I remember it was released something like 8 and a 1/2 months later in the UK than America!! A sequel was released 5 years later but was a critical and commercial failure! The film was heavily re-cast when the Weinstein Company picked it up and the directors tried to make the film dissimilar to the Shrek franchise!

I absolutely love this film and it placed on my list! I wasn't expecting at all to place this high so this was a really pleasing result as it is just a charming and fun animation, definitely recommend this!

91. Anastasia

174pts | 1997 | 20th Century Fox Animations
Top 20's: Cameron (#6)

And just missing the top 90 in 91st place, we have our first Fox animation to make the list, in the form of musical Anastasia, which received a top 10 from Cameroon!

The film includes voice work from the likes of Meg Ryan, John Cusack and Angela Lansbury and the younger version of the the young Anastasia was voiced by Kirsten Dunst and the actress singing for the younger version of Anastasia was Lacey Chabert from Mean Girls! The film is an adaptation of the legend of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaeyna of Russia and despite receiving some objections from some historians to the fantastical retelling of the life of the Grand Duchess, it recorded a positive reception from critics and became a box office success! The film scored two Oscar nominations for Original Song (Journey To The Past) and Original Musical/Comedy Score and is the most profitable film from Don Bluth & Fox Animation Studios to date! The success of Anastasia has spawned many adaptations of the film from a direct-to-video spin-off, a computer game, books, toys and a stage adaptation! Fox got into battle with Disney over the marketing campaign as Disney centred a lot of animation re-releases around the same time Anastasia was being released!

Not sure if I have seen this or not and I always thought this was a Disney film!! Was that just me?!

Posted by: SevenSeize Oct 29 2016, 05:38 PM

I'll certainly be checking out Totoro very soon, looks interesting!

Posted by: Brett-Butler Oct 29 2016, 07:07 PM

Totoro is incredible, I own a Totoro hoodie and a Catbus plushie, that's how much I love it. Hopefully there's more Ghibli to come, still gutted I didn't vote.

90. The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie

174pts | 2005 | Nickeloedon Movies
Top 20's: DalekTurret (#12), Cody (#16)

And kicking of the top 90, we have our first Nickelodeon production to make the list, in the form of the film spin-off of popular TV show SpongeBob Squarepants, which received top 20's from DalekTurret and Cody!

The film is based on the television series of the same name and starred the series cast, along with guest vocals performances from the likes of Scarlett Johansson and Alec Baldwin. Previous offers by Paramount to create an adaptation of SpongeBob had been rejected but one was finally accepted in 2002 and the production on the series after season 3 was halted to make the film. The film was intended as the series finale but Nickelodeon ordered more episodes of the series after the film's box office success. SpongeBob was heavily promoted by Paramount & Nickelodeon with many tie-in toy promotions, 9-foot SpongeBob inflatable figures and was a big box office success with $140m worldwide while receiving generally positive reviews! The series was meant to end after the film was released as the producer didn't want to jump the shark but Nickelodeon ordered more episodes which lead to the showrunner resigning. The film's trailer was attached to Shrek 2 and had a yellow-carpet world premiere! The film was the first ever film to sponsor a NASCAR race and was nominated for quite a few animated awards

I love this film and it just missed my top 100 as it has kind of wearied off a little bit on many repeated viewings! I probably prefer the hybrid live-action/animation sequel just but both are great and I'm glad this classic made the list!

SpongeBob commentary is up and more films will come later today around 4:30!

Please comment what you think might come up or your thoughts on any of the films so far!

Also would people like me to keep posting the top 100 so far after every 10 films or not?

I haven't seen any of the last few animations haha so I can't comment on them laugh.gif

I like recaps, just in case I miss a song during the countdown. Great work so far though UV! If you need help, send me a pm and I'll see what I can do in time! biggrin.gif (Likewise with horror results)

89. A Scanner Darkly

175pts | 2006 | Warner Independent Pictures
Top 20's: None

Into 89th and just missing out on 88th due to no top 20's, we have our first of only two animations not aimed for children, in the form of Richard Linklater's A Scanner Darkly, which received no top 20's as mentioned above!

A Scanner Darkly is an animated science fiction thriller based on the novel by Philip K. Dick. The story is about identity and deception in a future dystopia under high-tech police surveillance. The film was shot digitally and then animated which gave the film a distinctive animated look! The film is directed by Richard Linklater (Boyhood) and stars Robert Downey Jr, Keanu Reeves, Woddy Harrelson and Winona Ryder with executive producers from Steven Soderbergh to George Clooney. The film was screened at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival and the 2006 Seattle International Film Festival. A documentary about Richard Linklater featured exclusive-on set footage of the filming when aired in December 2004 on Channel 4 and the film received quite good reviews but made a loss at the box office. The film suffered from post-production issues which saw the film delayed from September 2005 as most of the animators hired had no movie experience which led to an enlarged animation budget after no finished sequences were produced. A test screening of the film iN December 2005 went well so the release date of March 31st was pushed back to the summer!

I've never seen this film but it does look interesting so I should get round to it at some point in the future!

88. The Emperor's New Groove

175pts (More Top 20's) | 2000 | Disney
Top 20's: Froot (#7), DalekTurret (#20)

Into 88th and just beating 89th due to two top 20's, we have our first Disney animation for a while, in the form of 2000's The Emperor's New Groove, which received a top 10 from Froot and a top 20 from DalekTurret!

The Emperor's New Groove is Disney's 40th animated feature as is based on The Emperor's New Clothes by Hans Christian Andersen! The film was altered significantly over its six years of development and production- it started as a musical epic titled 'Kingdom Of The Sun' to be directed by the directors of The Lion King (that sounds incredible, wish that happened!!) and was changed by Disney executives into a light-hearted buddy comedy. The documentary 'The Sweatbox' details the production troubles the film faced! The film received positive reviews and is considered to be one of the strongest films between Disney's two Renaissance eras. It received an Oscar nomination for Best Song for 'My Funny Friend And Me' by Sting but lost to Bob Dylan. A direct-to-DVD sequel was released in 2005 (Kronk's New Groove) and that was folloewd by an animated television series in 2006! Following underwhelming box office showings for Pocahontas/The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, studio executives felt the project was too ambitions and serious for audiences following test screenings. The film was nearly shut down in 1998 as it was not far along enough in production to be released in time for the 2000 release where promotion deals were already established. The project was dead on September 1998 with production costs of $25-30 million and 25% of the film already animated. It was the first Disney feature to have an extensive overhaul since Pinocchio and the new film was announced in February 2000. Similarities were noted between this and Dreamworks' The Road To El Dorado and the marketing campaign was relatively restrained as Disney heavily promoted 102 Dalmatians instead. The film performed ok at the box office and received many award nominations, including a Grammy nomination, for Sting's song!

I've seen this and enjoyed it but its not near my top 100 and I don't remember much about it tbh! I would have much rather seen 'Kingdom Of The Sun' which sounds incredible but I never knew the production was this troubled as this!

87. Shark Tale

178pts | 2004 | Dreamworks
Top 20's: None

Into 87th and we have our second DreamWorks animation to appear, in the form of 2004's Shark Tale that was critically hated but has its fans here, which received no top 20's! After only moving up 4 points over the last 5 films, we see a 15 point gap between this and 86th!

The film was directed by the co-director of Shrek (Vicky Jenson), as well as Bibo Bergeron and Rob Letterman and the film has the voices of Will Smith, Angelina Jolie, Robert De Niro, Renee Zellweger, Jack Black and Martin Scorsese in one of the most starriest casts for an animation! The film became the 2nd highest opening for a DreamWorks animation at the time and made a massive $367 million worldwide against its $75 million budget and was nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Feature! The film was originally called Sharkslayer (glad they changed the name!) but was retitled in September 2003 to make it less violent and more family friendly! The film received comparisons to Pixar's Finding Nemo- which was released the year before- due to the underwater setting! The film holds a 35% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the lowest so far in this list I think, and the DVD was accompanied with the short 'Club Oscar'. The film received a lot of animated nominations across the award ceremonies and was released with a soundtrack including the top 5 hit Car Wash, by Christina Aguilera & Missy Elliott! In April 2011, DreamWorks commented that the studio did not have any more plans to produce genre parodies such as this, Megamind and Monsters Vs Aliens due to them not performing too strongly overseas. The film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival which marked the first time the Piazza San Marco was closed for a premiere of a major feature film! The film was projected on the largest inflatable screen in the world and the premiere was attended by over 6,000 visitors!

I absolutely adore Shark Tale and glad it has done so well here! It is the first film of my top 100 to appear for a while and I find it really underrated! I've watched it multiple times and it is always enjoyable and fun and I am surprised and glad it has done so well here!

86. The Secret Life Of Pets

193pts | 2016 | Illumination Entertainment
Top 20's: Ultraviolence1989 (#15)

And in 86th we have the first Illumination Entertainment animation to appear and also the first 2016 release (the only 2016 release between #76-#100!), in the form of this summer's smash hit 'The Secret Life Of Pets, which received a top 20 from myself!

The Secret Life Of Pets has a starry voice cast from Louis C.K., Kevin Hart, Steve Coogan, Jenny Slate, Ellie Kemper and more and was premiered at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in June 2016 and received positive critical reviews and grossed a gigantic $870 million worldwide, an amount that makes it the highest grossing original animated film not produced by either Disney or Pixar!! The film was originally going to be released in February 2016 and was accompanied by a Despicable Me short film titled 'Mower Minions' (which was incredible!). The DVD release will also include two new shorts and the film earned $366M in America and just over $500M internationally! Its run internationally pushed Universal Pictures past the $1 billion mark for the 10th consecutive year and is currently the fifth highest-grossing original film of all time behind Finding Nemo, The Lion King, Zootopia and Avatar- the former 3 of those all still to come! The film had a massive £9.58m opening (boosted by previews) in the UK and opened to $104 million in America which is the sixth-biggest debut for an animation film, the sixth highest debut in July, 4th biggest OW for Universal and the largest opening for an original film! The film has a 75% rating score on Rotten Tomatoes and a sequel is scheduled to be released in July 2018!

I was expecting this to do a little better but it's a nice start at least, hopefully it can improve on this in future years! I absolutely adore The Secret Life Of Pets and it is just outside my top 3 for the year (it was top 3 until this weekend!). It is just so adorable, all the pets were incredible and it was fun with a really strong story. Another win for Illumination and an immediate animation classic for myself

'Shark Tale' is so bland and forgettable. Also, slay at 'Car Wash' being beat by 'My Prerogative' in the charts *.*

I enjoyed 'Secret Life Of Pets', but I didn't love it. It seemed fairly "standard" and the teasers made it look like it'd actually be quite a unique story.

Posted by: Chez Wombat Nov 6 2016, 06:26 PM

I didn't mind it at the time, but Shark Tale is awful, with a cast like they had, you'd have thought they could've managed a better script and likeable characters, but nah.

Posted by: Josh. Nov 6 2016, 08:12 PM

Emperor's New Groove does look quite fun tbh, doesn't seem like a can't miss it Disney classic but it's one I've always been interested in. I've seen parts of it on television a few times so just need a moment to sit down and watch it in full.

I agree with you UV that Shark's Tale is a lot of fun and it's a shame it gets such a bad rap. Much like Secret Life of Pets for me, they're both movies that I enjoyed and laughed at a fair bit but neither are particularly emotional or amazing like some Pixar/Disney films. Props to ST for giving us Car Wash too, such a fun song!

Posted by: DalekTurret32 Nov 6 2016, 08:21 PM

A Scanner Darkly looks interesting from what I've seen in the trailer!
Might want to watch it someday!
I remember hearing Christina and Missy's version of Car Wash when I was younger and I didn't know it was a cover until I heard the original Rose Royce version in a montage scene of You've Been Framed involving wacky, funny car screw-ups

Posted by: HarryEzra Nov 6 2016, 11:35 PM

I cannot recommend A Scanner Darkly enough, if you want a animated movie to challenge you. This is for you.

I personally love A Emperor's New Groove, Spongebob Squarepants Movie and Shark Tale the latter gets WAY to much hate ohmy.gif

Not seen A Secret Life Of Pets ohmy.gif

I don't remember much about Shark Tale due to seeing it in the cinema so long ago, just that I wasn't much of a fan.

I agree with this, I gave it 8/10 but that's quite a 'meh' score from me for an animation laugh.gif Compared to Trolls, Dory, Zootropolis, Inside Out, Shaun the Sheep and Big Hero 6 (to name those I remember from the past two years) all being 9/10 or 10/10. I feel that 'Sing' is going to go the same way, the trailer doesn't get me that excited sadly.

85. Hotel Transylvania 2

194pts | 2015 | Sony Pictures Animation
Top 20's: None

And in 85th we have the first sequel since Happy Feet Two to appear, in the form of the really underrated 'Hotel Transylvania 2', which received no top 20's! We are also close to hitting the 200 point mark, only 3 more films after this finished with under 200 points!

Hotel Transylvania 2 is the second installment of the franchise and is the sequel to the 2012 hit! Most of the original voices of the first film- including Adam Sandler and Selena Gomez- returned and this film takes place seven years after the first film with the hotel now open to human guests! Fifth Harmony recorded 'I'm In Love With A Monster' for the film which is a pop tune and featured in the official trailer and in the movie, along with Worth It also featuring often in the film! The film received a 54% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, marginally better than the first film and it is one of the best reviewed flicks from the underrated Adam Sandler over the last few years. The film was a gigantic box office successs, grossing $170m in North America and just under $470m worldwide on a budget of $80 million! The film set new records on its opening weekend in America as it had the highest September opening (beating its predecessor), biggest opening for Adam Sandler and the biggest opening for Sony Pictures Animation. It also was a big success in the UK with a $9.5m opening and $29.4m total, its biggest international territory! The film received a few animation picture nominations and a teen choice win for 'I'm In Love With A Monster'! A sequel has been announced to come out in September 2018 and I'm really hyped for that!

I am so glad this made the top 100 and this is a film that I'm pretty sure made my top 50! I adore the Hotel Transylvania franchise and they are always great animations to watch around Halloween, injected with humour and heart and I am really glad the sequel managed to make the top 100 given the lukewarm reactions from critics to the franchise (the 1st film will appear later on as well!). I think I prefer this to the first film just but they are basically equal for me!

84. Cinderella

196pts | 1950 | Disney
Top 20's: Cody (#19)

And in 84th we have a Disney classic as we fly back 65 years, in the form of iconic Disney princess Cinderella, which received a top 20 from Cody! We are also so close to hitting the 200 point mark, only 2 more films after this finished with under 200 points!

Cinderella is based on the fairy tale Cendrillon by Charles Perrault and is the 12th Disney animated feature film and at the time of release, Walt Disney Productions had suffered from losing connections to the European film markets due to World War II- which saw Pinocchio/Fantasia/Bambi all flop at the box office (which would all become more successful with several re-releases). However at the time, the studio was $4m in debt and on the verge of bankruptcy. It is the 1st Disney film in which all of Disney's Nine Old Men worked together as directing animators and was released in 1950 after two years in production! It became the greatest critical and commercial hit for the studio since Snow White and reveresed the studio's fortunes. It is considered to be one of the best animated films of all time, as selected by the AFI and received 3 Oscar nominations- Best Music and Orgiinal Song for Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo. The film was followed by two-direct-to-video sequels decades later and a 2015 live action remake. The film was made on the cusp of the golden age of the 30's/40's and the less critically acclaimed productions of the 50's, Cinderella is representative of both eras! It was the first full-bodied feature since Bambi for Disney and the Prince originally had a larger role in earlier drafts of the script. The clothes represented the styles and were inspired by Salvador Dali and Christian Dior and the film includes many classic songs from Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo to A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes! The soundtrack was released in 1997 and the film was re-released in cinemas a massive 5 times!!, the most recent of those being in 1987! The film has royal edition and Diamond Edition's released on DVD and a fantastic 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes! The profit of the film gave Disney the cash flow to finance a slate of productions, enter television production and begin building Disneyland! The production of the film was a major gamble for Disney and Disney insiders claimed that if Cinderella failed box office wise, Disney would have closed! It was the 5th biggest film at the British Box Office in 1951 and at the 1st Berlin International Film Festival, it won the Golden Bear (Music Film) award and the Big Bronze Plate award! The AFI have acknowledged Cinderella as teh 9th best animated film of all time and has appeared on many American Film Institute lists! The characters also have a massive legacy with the sequels, remake, and Cinderella/Fairy Godmother appeared as guests in Disney's House Of Mouse and the video game Kingdom Hearts. A scaled-down stage musical version is also frequently performed by schools and children's theatres!

An animated classic for me! Didn't make my top 100 (not sure why tbh) but Cinderella is one of my favourite Disney princesses of all time and I love all the current performances of Cinderella in recent pictures and the original still stands up there with the best 66 years later!

83. Rugrats Go Wild

198pts | 2003 | Nickelodeon Movies
Top 20's: Cameron (#14)

And in 83rd we have the first of two Rugrats pictures to appear in the top 100, in the form of Rugrats Go Wild, which received a top 20 from Cameron! We are also so close to hitting the 200 point mark, only 1 more film after this finished with under 200 points!

Rugrats Go Wild is a crossover film based on the Nickelodeon animated television series Rugrats and The Wild Thornberrys and is the third, and so far, final film in the Rugrats trilogy and the second in the Wild Thornberrys series! The film grossed $55.4m worldwide which was the lowest grossing Rugrats film. The film used Aroma-Scope which allowed people to smell odors and aromas from the film via scratch and sniff cards (similar to the 1960s Smell-O-Vision) and Aroma-Scope was not used theatrically again for eight years, until the release of Spy Kids: All The Time In The World in 2011! Rugrats Go Wild was originally made by the television unit but after screenings, Paramount decided to shelve it and remake it into a feature film. Among the biggest hype for the movie was Bruce Willis voicing a new character and the use of the 'Odorama' cards which Burbe King and Blockbuster released the cards that filmgoers used when watching the film. However there were many complaints that the 'Odorama' cards just smelled like cardboard and nothing else. The Odoroma card was a homage to John Waters film Polyester but Waters felt he was ripped off and realised New Line Cinema didn't renew the copyright for Odorama and later said a cheque would have been an homage! The Odorama cards would later be released with the DVD release of the film and early trailers gave the film the title 'The Rugrats Meet The Wild Thornberrys'! The film has a poor 41% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and the film underperformed at the box office, not surprising when you schedule your film two weeks after Finding Nemo was released!!

Love Rugrats and this movie but this wasn't that close to making my top 100 as don't really remember it at all as haven't seen it in years! Surprised its done so well though and its nice to see Rugrats are still popular!

82. Megamind

199pts | 2010 | DreamWorks
Top 20's: None

And in 82nd we have our next DreamWorks flick, in the form of the fantastic Megamind, which received no top 20's! We are also so close to hitting the 200 point mark, as Megamind is the last film that finished with under 200 points!

Megamind is produced by DreamWorks Animation and features voice work from Will Ferrell, Tina Fey and Brad Pitt! The film blends animation and the superhero genre together (better than the other one that is coming up in my view) and received positive reviews who praised the strong visuals and cast's performances, however some criticised its unoriginality. The film grossed $321m worldwide on a budget of $130m and despite it being a box office success, it became one of DreamWorks Animation's lowest-grossing CG animated films. A short film titled 'Megamind: The Button Of Doom' was released on the Megamind DVD! It was originally titled Master Mind and then Oobermind (wtf at the latter??!!) and Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr were in the running for the role of Megamind. The film's Japanese release was cancelled because of the earthquake/tsunami the day before intended release and the film was promoted at San-Diego Comic Con International! It was the 7th best selling DVD of 2011 and was the sixth highest grossing animation of 2010 (behind 5 films all still to come!) and is the second highest grossing superhero-comedy film behind The Incredibles! The film received a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and was often compared with another 2010 animated flick, Despicable Me! The film received some animation nominations and several video games tie-ins were released! A 32 page full colour comic book was also produced and you can see the Shark Tale commentary for the sequel status!

Another film that made my top 100! Adore Megamind and watched it LOADS of times when I was younger, it was one of those films I always had on repeat! I love the characters and the plots and they casted the voices actors perfectly! I do wish this was better received and this always seems to underperform compared to my expectations in these kind of lists!

Rugrats Go Wild was incredible.

81. The Princess And The Frog

201pts | 2010 | Disney
Top 20's: Regina (#2), Josh (#15)

And in 81st we have our next Disney flick and our first film to pass 200 points, in the form of the fantastic The Princess And The Frog which I thought would be a bit higher than this, which received top 20's from Regina and Josh!

The Princess And The Frog is the 49th Disney animated feature and is loosely based on the novel 'The Frog Princess' by E.D. Baker which is based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale 'The Frog Prince'! The film features an ensemble voice cast from Anika Noni Rose to Oprah Winfrey! The film began production under the working title 'The Frog Princess' and marked Disney's return to traditional animation, being their first traditional animation since Home On The Range 5 years ago! The film was directed by Ron Clements and John Musker who directed The Little Mermaid and Aladdin and the studio returned to a Broadway musical-style format frequently used during the Disney Renaissance! The film also marked the return of Disney animated musical films based on well-known stories since the Disney Renaissance! he film was successful at the box office, grossing $256m worldwide and received 3 Oscar nominations- one for best animation and two for best original songs! Many critics and pundits regard The Princess And The Frog as the turning point for the Disney movies and is the film to have ignited the 'Disney Revival'! The original name of the main character was called Maddy but due to controversy was changed to Tiana and Anika Noni Rose beat Dreamgirls co-star Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys and Tyra Banks to voice the lead character! The film was heavily marketed with lots of merchandise and Princess Tiana was featured in the Disney On Ice: Let's Celebrate show! The film was a box office success but underperformed compared to expectations which was as Disney believed they only marketed it to girls in hindsight and the film opened in wide release 5 days before a small film called Abatar! The film scored many Oscar nominations and has an 84% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes!

I adore The Princess And The Frog and it is an essential Disney film for me! The cast is really good and I love the music and the classic story, I'm a bit disappointed with how this has performed here sad.gif

80. Ice Age 2: The Meltdown

204pts | 2006 | Blue Sky
Top 20's: None

And starting the top 80 we have our first of the Ice Age franchise which feels like it has really under-performed here, in the form of second movie Ice Age 2, which received no top 20's!

Ice Age 2 saw most of the main cast reprise their roles and the likes of Queen Latifah and Seann William Scott join the cast and the film received mixed critical reception but was a major box office success with over $660m earned at the box office! The film has 3 follow-ups so far and a video game was released for this entry of the franchise! After the first film was released in 2002, a sequel was green-lit and 2006 was reported as the planned year for the sequel's release in 2003! The film was renamed Ice Age 2: The Meltdown in June 2005 but the number 2 was removed from most countries bar the UK, Ireland, Mexico and Australia! Also most of the sponsors had the 2 in the packaging but not in the TV adds! The film has a 57% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and the short film 'No Time For Nuts' was included on the DVD release! The film was a big box office success and at the time, had the 2nd biggest opening ever for a non-summer or holiday release! It was the first film of 2006 to pass the $100m mark in America and is the 66th highest grossing film of all time and the highest grossing animated film worldwide of 2006! Marketing for the film involved an anti-cell spot, a promotion with Scrat on Family Guy and Sid hosted an entire evening on FOX by showing up in intermittent times between commercials. Scenes from the film were showed in Airhead candy commercials and one of the posters for the film was a parody of an iPod advertisement with 'iAge' replacing 'iPod' and an acorn replacing an iPod!

I quite like this one but the 1st/3rd/4th are all way stronger for me (though the 5th one is a billion times worse so this is no longer my least fave in the franchise). It's definitely grown on me more throughout the years and made my list in a similar position to where it has finished here! I guess franchise fatigue for Ice Age has kicked in which is why they've struggled here.

Looking forward to the rest of this countdown, my sister has been in LOVE with Toy Story at the moment (watching the whole trilogy at least once a day) and it's kind of growing on me, everyone is a lot of fun (still hate Woody though) and there some fun adult jokes in there too so won't be so angry if they end up all in the top 10.

I didn't realise Princess & The Frog had dropped out already sad.gif It's one of those films I forget how good it is but am totally hooked as soon as I put it on. I love how down to earth Tiana is in comparison to all the other Disney princesses too, she's probably my favourite one!

79. Lady And The Tramp

205pts (Less Top 10's) | 1955 | Disney
Top 20's: Josh (#17)

And into 79th we have an all time classic Disney animation, in the form of Lady And The Tramp, which received a top 20 from Josh!

Lady and the Tramp is the 15th Disney animated feature film and was the first animated feature filmed in CinemaScope widescreen film process! It is based on Happy Dan, The Whistling Dog by Ward Greene and a direct-to-DVD video sequel was released in 2001, over 40 years after the release of Lady And The Tramp! The film's opening sequence was inspired by an incident when Walt Disney presented his wife with a Chow puppy as a gift in a hat box and even though the spaghetti sequence is the best known scene from the film, Walt Disney was prepared to cut it as he thought it would look silly and not be romantic! The film was planned to be filmed in a regular full frame aspect ratio but was changed to CinemaScope due to growing interest of widescreen film amongst movie-goers! This caused problems for the animators as it made it difficult for a single character to dominate the screen and there had to be longer takes! More problems arose as the release date got closer as not all cinemas could show CinemaScope so Walt issued two versions of the film: one in Widescreen and the other in the Academy ratio! The film was the highest grossing Disney animated feature since Snow White and an episode of Disneyland called 'A Story Of Dogs' aired before the film's release! The film has been re-issued into theatres a further four times and the film also played a limited engagement in select Cinemark Theatres during February 2013! Lady And The Tramp had a Disney Limited Issue series DVD released in 1999, and a re-mastered version in February 2006 which sold over one million copies! The film has an 89% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has become iconic in the history of cinema! The spaghetti scene is considered an iconic scene in American film history and was named 95 on the '100 Greatest Love Stories of All Time' by AFI and was only one of two animated films to appear on that list! Rhapsody called its soundtrack one of the all time great Disney/Pixar soundtracks and TIME named it one of the '25 all-time best animated films'! The film however was initially panned by critics, one saying the dogs had 'the dimensions of hippos' and another criticising the artists work! Despite this, the film was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Animated Picture! The film includes classic songs such as He's A Tramp and The Siamese Cat Song and most of the soundtrack was done by Peggy Lee!

Another Disney classic for me heart.gif Thought it would be a little bit higher though! This will always remain a perfect film and tbh I was shocked it was released in 1955, I thought it was a lot more recent than that for some reasno!

78. Watership Down

205pts (More Top 10's) | 1978 | CIC
Top 20's: Iz (#5), Severin (#12)

And into 78th we have the adventure-thriller classic animated movie, in the form of Watership Down, which received a top 10 from Iz and a top 20 from Severin!

Watership Down is a Britssh animated/adventure/thriller/drama film based on the novel of the same name by Richard Adams and the film was an immediate success and the 6th most popular film of 1979 at the British box office! It was the first animated feature to be presented in Dolby Surround Sound and Art Garfunkel's hit single 'Bright Eyes' briefly features in the film! The film was originally going to be directed by John Hubley but he died in 1977, however his work can still be found in the film, including the 'fable' scene. Most of the predators remain mute throughout the film and the characters are given human voices and minds, paw gestures and some facial expressions for emotions and the animation backgrounds are watercolours! Most of the locations in the movie are based on diagrams and maps in Richard Adams' original novel and were based on real spots in Hampshire and surrounding areas! The film is mostly faithful to the novel but some changes were made to decrease the overly detailed complexity and improve the pace and flow of the plot! Also the order in which some events occurred was re-arranged! The film has an 82% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and the film won the Saturn Award for Best Animated Film and was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation! In 2004, Total Film named the film as the 47th greatest British film of all time and was ranked 15th in the '100 Greatest Tearjerkers'! Investors in the film reportedly received a return of 5,000% on their investment and the film underperformed at the US box office, despite its massive success at the UK box office! On release, many reviewers warned parents that the children might find the content disturbing though the film was given a U rating! However in 2012, BBFC admitted they have received complaints about the low certificate of Watership Down almost every year since 1978! Marketers in the US were also worried that the main promotional poster appeared too dark and could scare some children! After a British TV screening at Easter 2016, the film would receive a PG under current standards if it was to be re-released because of the use of an expletive and the film's violence was too strong for a U! A picture book was released with the film and a TV series with the same title was created 20 years after the film was released. The series had 39 episodes and was loosely based on the events of the film, however the storyline is more child-friendly but the 3rd season took a darker turn than the first two seasons! In 2015, BBC & Netflix announced plans for an animated television mini-series based on the novel for a 2017 release!

Another fantastic film which highly deserves its ranking on this list and I remember this made me cry when I was younger! Really need to watch it again!

Posted by: DalekTurret32 Nov 25 2016, 07:45 PM

I remember seeing Ice Age 2 in the cinema when I was younger and I liked it, but I think the first film is more of a classic.
(Fun Animated Trivia: Don Bluth [known for animated classics such as The Land Before Time, The Secret Of NIMH, All Dogs Go To Heaven and Anastacia] was originally going to be the director of Ice Age, but because his previous film Titan AE did not do well in the box office, it had to be pitched to another animation studio or something like that. Bluth stepped down from the director position after finding out that the studio was making the film in CGI)
I only saw bits of Watership Down on TV before watching a Channel 4 countdown called Greatest Ever Animated Movies (#1 on the C4 countdown was Toy Story). From what I've seen, it's marvellous. Need to see the whole film in my free time.

77. 'ParaNorman'

218pts | 2012 | USA
Top 20's: None

Now that horror is all caught up, I'll do some more of this countdown now and getting us back into the swing of things is the stop-motion animation, 'ParaNorman'! No one loved it enough to put it top 20 (clearly JohnKM didn't vote then tongue.gif) but it manages to perform decently.

Norman is a boy who can speak to the dead, but of course, with the exception of one person (his OTT and eccentric friend Neil), no one believes him or his ability to do so. As things start developing and going awry, it's down to Norman to prove his ability to everyone in the town and speak and fight with the spirits to rid the town of a curse. Box office wise, it didn't do too great. However, the critics and people who did watch it though, seemed to really enjoy it. With a 7 on IMDB and an impressive score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes!

It's enjoyable for what it is, but it's not really a film that I'll watch again. Stop animation movies seem to bore me, in general though. It's amazing how much time and effort goes into them, but overall, I find them all a bit bland on the whole.

Posted by: Weiss Schnee Dec 1 2016, 08:43 PM

Watership Down! heart.gif Very pleased to see it place here, quite a dark and scary film (as befits the wonderful book upon which it is based), has always really stood out to me among the animation canon.

76. 'The Polar Express'

218pts | 2012 | USA
Top 20's: BRIGHTPLACES (#20)

Up next is an animation from the winning combo of Tom Hanks and Robert Zemeckis! At #76 is the rather appropriately timed 'The Polar Express'.

With it's stunning, life-like animation, 'The Polar Express' tells the story of a young boy who boards a train on Christmas Eve which then takes him to the North Pole to see Santa Clause. During the journey, the young boy embarks on a journey of his own as he starts to discover things about himself, life in general and most importantly, the spirit of Christmas. It went on to become a hit and a Christmas staple! It received mostly postitive reviews and scores of 6.6 on IMDB but a rotten score of 55% on Rotten Tomatoes.

One I haven't personally seen, although I HAVE seen Tinashe's singing scene *.* Slay biiiitch. I dunno if I want to watch it or not, I've heard it's quite boring (beautiful, but boring).

Posted by: Mack'sXmasSack Dec 1 2016, 10:20 PM

It was on Channel 5 in Easter when there were complaints about Watership Down.

Posted by: DalekTurret32 Dec 2 2016, 07:15 PM

Paranorman smile.gif
Polar Express is something I may watch this month, that adds a bit of festivity.

Polar Express and Paranorman are both incredible wub.gif Glad both of them came top 100 and I'll be watching the former for Christmas soon as usual! <3

Ok will be doing quite a lot tonight! Will aim to do about 10 here and about 10 in horrors!

(Though this will be coming at the sacrifice of the long commentaries, if that's ok with everyone? I just don't think we will ever get done if I continue with the long commentaries so they will be a lot shorter from now on but we will go way quicker I promise!!)

Any hype for more results later tonight?! Plz post! <3

75. Shaun The Sheep: The Movie

220pts | 2015 | UK
Top 20's: MACK (#8), JAHQ (#13)

Into the top 75 and we have the film adaptation of the TV show 'Shaun The Sheep', a character who first appeared in a Wallace and Gromit episode! The film is one of the most recent flicks on the list and scored two top 20's!

Shaun The Sheep Movie is a stop-motion animated film and follows Shaun and his flock going into the big city to rescue their farmer! The film was received fantastically critically and scored nominations for 'Best Animated Feature' at the Oscars, Golden Globes and BAFTA's! The film premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and has a fabulous 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes! The US film posters spoofed some of the higher-budgeted films of that year, including Ant-Man, Minions, Spectre, Fantastic Four, Mission Impossible 4 and Mockingjay! Aardman announced they are working on a sequel and pre-production is starting next month! cheer.gif Really hyped for this!

I really loved this and this was definitely a surprise highlight of last year! I was expecting to enjoy it but I thought it'd be a bit throwaway, however this turned into an unexpected delight with a fabulous story and a really fun movie! Highly recommend it if you haven't watched it!

74. Rugrats In Paris

221pts | 2000 | America
Top 20's: REGINA (#11)

Into 74th and we have the second film in the Rugrats franchise, and I believe the highest entry from the Rugrats franchise here! The film received a top 20 from Regina!

The movie is the 2nd Rugrats film series, which was based on the popular Nickelodeon series Rugrats, and was produced by Paramount Pictures. The film was a boig box office success, earning over $100m worldwide from a $30m budget! This film marks the only appearance of two villains in the Rugrats franchise and the first appearance of new Rugrats character Kimi Finster. The film has a solid 75% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and received a sequel in the forms of 'Rugrats Go Wild', which appeared on this list at #83!

Enjoyed this but don't remember it too much! Probably wouldn't have it that close to my top 100!

73. Sausage Party

223pts | 2016 | America
Top 20's: None

Into 73rd we have the highest animation aimed at adults in this countdown. And yep it's not the South Park Movie. That shockingly fell short of the top 100 ohmy.gif Instead it is the 2nd most recent film on the list (I believe), in the form of comedy Sausage Party!

Sausage Party is a 2016 adult animated comedy and includes voices from the likes of Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill etc and is the first CGI-animated film to ever be rated R by the MPAA! The film is a spoof of Disney/Pixar films and follows a sausage who discovers the truth about his existence! The film's rough-cut premiered at the South by Southwest festival and was a success at the box office by grossing more than $140 million! The film was originally rated NC-17 due to the visibility of a pubic hair so this has to be removed for the film to receive an R rating!! The film received a great 83% positive reviews from critics and has received some nominations for animations and the fabulous song 'The Great Beyond' from some Awards. I'm not sure it will turn up at the Oscars though due to the sheer crazy competitveness of the animation category this year! There was controversy with the animators, which led to 36 of the 83 animators to being blacklisted, due to being told they would be blacklisted if they didn't work overtime without pay. There have been rumours about a sequel and Rogen has stated he would like a sequel to be made!

I still struggle to make an opinion on this, definitely one of the most WTF films I've ever witnessed. I felt like most of the film could have been a bit funnier and I don't know if that last 10 minutes was utter genius or one of the biggest messes I've seen! I wouldn't have this in my top 100 of all time animated films though!

72. Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa

224pts | 2008 | America
Top 20's: None

And into 72nd we have the first (and weakest) entry of the Madagascar franchise to turn up, in the form of second movie 'Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa'!

Madagascar 2 is a sequel to 'Madagascar' and continues the adventures of the four main animals, with most of the voice cast returning! The film starts as a prequel but soon moves shortly to where the original left off and the film grossed a gigantic +$600 million worldwide on a $150m budget, making it the sixth highest-grossing film of 2008! The film was dedicated to Bernie Mac who died before the film's release. A sequel titled Europe's Most Wanted was released 3 and a 1/2 years later! The film was originally subtitled 'The Crate Escape' (I love that title actually!) and has a quite good 64% approval rate from critics! The film's DVD release included two episodes from 'The Penguins of Madagascar' series and a video game (that I owned and was one of my fave video games when I was younger!) was released alongside the films release!

This is enjoyable, and I think it made my top 100 list, but the other two are way stronger whereas this is just enjoyable! Still a great entry in a great franchise though!

71. Shrek Forever After

226pts (No Top 20's) | 2010 | America
Top 20's: None

And into 71st we have our 2nd DreamWorks sequel in a row in the form of the last entry in the Shrek franchise so far, fourth movie Shrek Forever After!

Shrek Forever After is the fourth installment in the Shrek series and takes place after the events of the 3rd movie! The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was released in cinemas in 3D and IMAX 3D formats! Shrek Forever After is DreamWorks Animation's second highest-grossing film at the foreign box office and the film was originally titled 'Shrek Goes Fourth'! In May 2009, however DreamWorks changed the title to the eventual title which indicated it would be the last in the franchise! The film has a rotten rating of 58%, which I think is the lowest of the franchise, and was the 5th highest grossing film of 2010 and the 12th highest grossing animated film! The film received a few animated nominations and there has been many talks about a sequel since the release of Shrek 4 and supposedly a sequel will be coming at last in 2019/2020 with any luck and hope!

I absolutely adore this film and rank it a bit above the 2nd and way way above the 3rd! This was such a delight to watch and I remember my 9 year old self absolutely adoring and stanning this so much in the cinema! A satisfying conclusion to Shrek's adventures for the time being and a great movie!

More coming later tonight, any more comments on the latest section?!

Posted by: DalekTurret32 Dec 21 2016, 05:30 PM

Actually, Shrek The Third had the weakest RT rating out of all of the four Shrek films (it was 41%)
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (quite liked it [7.0], but not as much as the first one)
Shrek Forever After (somewhere between [5.5] and [6.0] for me, I loved both films [though the 2nd was my favourite for some reason], and I took quite a liking to Shrek The Third)
Sausage Party (not sure about this. I suppose this was from the same people that did Bad Neighbours and The Night Before [I liked the former for its enjoyable plot involving a couple trying to get rid of a rowdy fraternity, despite the fact that I found some of the jokes to be cringeworthy, and I thought the latter was okay (my favourites parts of TNB were Tracy Morgan's narration at the beginning, the Home Alone 2 marble reference and the part where Seth Rogen was in a church and hallucinated a baby saying "F*** you!" to him)]

70. Corpse Bride

226pts (More Top 20's) | 2005 | America/UK
Top 20's: Severin (#3), Iz (#18)

And into 70th we have one of the first stop-motion animations in our list in the form of Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, which received a top 3 from Severin and a a top 20 from Iz!

Corpse Bridge is a stop-motion animated musical and is set in a fictional Victorian era with voices from Johnny Depp & Helena Bonham Carter! This is the 3rd stop-motion film produced by Burton and the first directed by him! It was dedicated to executive producer Joe Ranft, who died during production and the film was a critical and box office success and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Feature but lost to Wallace & Gromit- which also starred Helena Bonham Carter! The film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and earned $117.2m worldwide from a $40m budget! London's Moving Picture Company delivered the visual effects and Burton/Depp filmed this and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory around the same time, something I never actually knew or realised!

Was never really a big fan of this when I was younger sad.gif Saw it a couple of times and found it boring every time, maybe I'd think differently now I'm older but I'm not too sure!

The next week or so will be a slow pace but as soon as I hit half term, I promise I am really gonna put everything into this and get as far as possible!

69. Howl's Moving Castle

237pts | 2005 | Japan
Top 20's: Cody (#5)

And into 69th we have our next Studio Ghibli entry in our list in the form of Howl's Moving Castle, which received a top 5 from Cody!

Howl's Moving Castle is a 2004 Japanese animated fantasy film directed by Hayao Miyazaki and is based on the novel by British writer Diana Wynne Jones. The story is set in a fictional kingdom where both magic and early 20th century technology are prevalent, against the backdrop of a war with another kingdom. The film tells the story of a young hatter named Sophie after she is turned into an old woman by a witch's curse. She encounters a wizard named Howl, and gets caught up in his resistance to fighting for the king. The film was influenced by Miyazaki's opposition to the US's invasion of Iraq and the film incorporates themes of pacifism, old age, compassion and anti-war. Miyazaki said he 'had a great deal of rage about the Iraq war' so he felt the film would be poorly received in America. The film also contains a feminist message! Miyazaki stated a few years ago that this was his favourite creation as he wanted to convey the message that life is worth living and the movie is thematically significantly different from the book- the book focuses on class and gender norms, the film on love, personal loyalty and the destructive effects of war. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September 2004 and was released in Japan in November 2004. It did fantastically at the box office, making $235m worldwide off a $24m budget, though a massive $190m of that worldwide gross came from Japan! It is one of the most financially successful Japanese films in history and was nominated at the Oscars for Best Animated Picture but lost to Wallace & Gromit! The film won many other awards such as four Tokyo Anime Awards and a Nebula Award for Best Script. The film received positive reviews with praise aimed at the visual's and Miyazaki's treatment of the themes. Mamoru Hosoda of Toei Animation was originally selected to direct the film, but quit the project after Studio Ghibli's executives rejected many of his concept ideas. The film was shelved until Miyazaki took over so the project resumed with production in February 2003. It was originally scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2004, and released in the summer of that year, but that didn't happen as you can see above! The film has an 87% score on Rotten Tomatoes and appeared on many critics top 10 lists for 2005!

I've had this on DVD and still haven't got round to watching this! Really need to rectify that as it sounds so good!

Also a completely, utterly useless fact for y'all, this & Corpse Bride are next to each other on this list. Howl's Moving Castle was released in cinemas in the UK on the same date Corpse Bride was released in cinemas in the US in the same year!

68. Shrek The Third

240pts | 2007 | America
Top 20's: Cameron (#7)

And into 68th we have the second Shrek film so far to appear in our list in the form of the third movie 'Shrek The Third', which received a top 10 from Cameron!

Shrek the Third is the third installment in the Shrek franchise. It was produced by DreamWorks Animation and is the first in the series to be distributed by Paramount Pictures as they acquired DreamWorks in 2006 The story takes place eight months after the marriage of Shrek and Fiona in the first film. Reluctantly reigning over the kingdom of Far, Far Away, Shrek sets out to find the next heir to the throne—Fiona's cousin Artie, while Prince Charming is plotting to overthrow Shrek and become king. The main cast reprised their voice roles for this sequel and Justin Timberlake also joined the franchise for the third film! The film premiered on May 6, 2007, at the Mann Village Theatre, Westwood in Los Angeles and was released in America exactly 6 years after the first one!! It was the final film in the Shrek franchise to be produced by Pacific Data Images before its closure in 2015 and the film was a massivee box office hit and grossed $799 million on an $160 million budget, becoming the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2007. A sequel, titled Shrek Forever After, was released in 2010. Unlike the first two films, the film was not directed by Andrew Adamson due to his occupation with The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (<3). The film was originally planned to be released in November 2006 but was pushed back to May 2007 in December 2004! It was pushed back as 'The sheer magnitude of the Shrek franchise has led us to conclude that a May release date, with a DVD release around the holiday season, will enable us to best maximize performance and increase profitability, thereby generating enhanced asset value and better returns for our shareholders'. Flushed Away took Shrek 3's old spot and the date was changed the day after Pixar bumped Cars up to summer from November 2006! The film received weaker reviews than the previous entries in the franchise with a 41% rating on Rotten Tomatoes but was a massive box office hit, having the biggest opening day and weekend for an animated film at the time of release! It actually held the all time animated weekend record until only last year when Finding Dory opened! ohmy.gif The film earned a massive $800m worldwide and was nominated at Awards such as the BAFTA's for Best Animated Feature. The DVD featured many extras and has made a big sales revenue over the years! The film also had a game released with it and had a large marketing campaign with many tie-ins! Shrek The Halls spin-off picks up from when this left off and the film gained some controversy as un the beginning of the film, in Prince Charming's dinner theater, coconuts are used for horse's hoof beats. This same technique was used in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, which also starred John Cleese and Eric Idle. Idle claimed to be considering suing the producers of Shrek for the unauthorised use of this gag, while the producers claim they were honouring Idle and Cleese by putting the part in.

I quite enjoy this but it is the weakest of the four Shrek films for me so I'm a bit gutted the 4th one came so close to finishing above this but failed at the last hurdle sad.gif Still a great film though and one that I loved and watched repeatedly when I was younger!

67. Pokemon: The First Movie

243pts | 1998 | Japan
Top 20's: Cody (#7)

And into 67th we have the next Pokemon film to appear in our list in the form of 'Pokemon: The First Movie', which received a top 10 from Cody!

Pokemon: The First Movie is a 1998 Japanese anime film directed by Kunihiko Yuyama, the chief director of the Pokémon television series. It is the first theatrical release in the Pokémon franchise and was released in Japan in 1998 on the 18th July, exactly 2 years before I was born!! ohmy.gif The English-language adaptation, produced by Nintendo and 4Kids Entertainment, was released in North America on November 10, 1999. The film consists of three segments, a 21-minute feature on a mascot, a 10-minute featurette which is a prologue and the main 75 minutes film feature. Although Pokémon was extremely popular when the film was released, the English-language version received negative reviews from film critics. Despite the reviews, it was a box office success worldwide, topping the box office charts in its opening weekend, and eventually grossing $163m worldwide. The film was re-released at Cinemax theatres in America in October 2016 and the soundtrack to the film went top 10 in the US Billboard 200 Charts! The film has been re-mastered in HD and the film received awful reviews with 14% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the worst so far I think. ohmy.gif The film was a big success in America earning $50m over its 5 day weekend but fell quickly and finished with an $85m total! It is the highest grossing Anime film in America and was the highest grossing film based on a video game at the time until Lara Croft's Tomb Raider in 2001! The first trailer was released in August 1999 and was shown before The Iron Giant and Mystery Men. The second trailer was released in the fall of 1999 and was attached to The Bachelor. For the film's theatrical release, select theaters would give away exclusive Pokémon trading cards, to capitalize on the success of the trading card game. The cards featured likenesses of Electabuzz, Pikachu, Mewtwo, and Dragonite, and were dispensed in random order for each week it was in that particular theater. The subsequent releases of Pokémon: The Movie 2000 and Pokémon 3: The Movie featured a similar marketing campaign. For the 2000 home video release of The First Movie, a limited edition Mewtwo card (different from that used for the theatrical release) was packaged with the video.

I think this may be the first film on the list that I have/had no interest ever at all to see.

66. Kubo & The Two Strings

246pts | 2016 | America
Top 20's: Josh (#13), Cody (#17)

And into 66th we have one of the best films yet to appear in our list in the form of Laika's 'Kubo & The Two Strings', which received top 20's from Cody and Josh!

Kubo and the Two Strings is a 2016 American 3D stop-motion fantasy action-adventure film directed and co-produced by Travis Knight (in his directorial debut) and includes the voices of Charlize Theron, Art Parkinson, Ralph Fiennes, Rooney Mara, George Takei, and Matthew McConaughey. It is Laika's fourth feature film produced. The film revolves around Kubo, who has magical powers and whose left eye was stolen. Accompanied by Monkey and Beetle, he must subdue the Sisters, Raiden the Moon King and his army of evil spirits. The film premiered at Melbourne International Film Festival in August 2016 and was released to critical acclaim and grossed $75 million worldwide, a good gross but a bit underwhelming considering its $60m budget. The film is nominated for two awards at this years Oscars- Best Animated Film and became only the second animated film to be nominated for Best Visual Effects following The Nightmare Before Christmas! <3 Just before Christmas 2014, Laika announced they had started production on Kubo & Laika's CEO Travis Knight would direct the film! The film has received multiple accolades over this Awards season and is critically acclaimed with a 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and their critical consensus sums up the film perfectly, 'Kubo and the Two Strings matches its incredible animation with an absorbing—and bravely melancholy—story that has something to offer audiences of all ages'! You need to check this out immedaitely if you haven't seen it and I may do a filmclub session for it if people want?.

Absolutely adore this film and I am so glad it has already made such a strong impression! The visuals are spectacular, the voice cast are fabulous and the story is heart-warming and terrific. An animation triumph which I really hope will turn into a cult classic in the vain of the likes of 'The Iron Giant'! This made my top 30 on my list and would probably be even higher on my list nowadays if we were to re-do this!

Posted by: Chez Wombat Feb 11 2017, 06:34 PM

Well I like Pokemon and Shrek as much as the next person, but those respective movies were piss weak and them being above the beauty of Howl's Moving Castle and the twisted genius of Corpse Bride is a bit :/

(OK, I'll give Pokemon the scene with Pikachu crying a major tissue moment, but still, the second movie with the legendary birds>>>>)

Posted by: Iz~ Feb 11 2017, 06:55 PM

That Pokemon movie is the only one I've seen and my god it is far too cheesy to be taken seriously. Got hampered by a family friendly "absolutely all violence is bad.... in a franchise built on competitive animal fighting" message and had pretty bad dialog compared to the TV series.

I finally do have the DVD of Howl though so will be seeing that at some point in the next... whenever we find a moment. And I'm hyped.

Posted by: DalekTurret32 Feb 11 2017, 08:05 PM

I saw the first Pokemon movie appear on Channel 4's Greatest Animated Movies countdown and the fact that it got negative reviews from the likes of Roger Ebert was mentioned in this countdown.
Kubo is one I need to see, because I really enjoyed Laika's other two films Coraline and Paranorman (haven't seen Boxtrolls)

65. Hercules

254pts | 1997 | USA
Top 20's: Iz (#7)

In 65th place we have a film that is largely regarded as one of Disney Classics. Whilst not on the same level of fame as the likes of The Lion King or Frozen, it is one of their more famous and beloved films showcased by the fact it has an 83% score on Rotten Tomatoes and it grossed over $250 million worldwide back on its cinema release.

I think I've only really seen it in parts and don't remember all that much about it but it follows the story of Hercules, based on the Greek deity, after he is stripped of his immortality as an infant and must become a true hero in order to reclaim it. With some great songs along the way (especially I Won't Say I'm Love which is probably my favourite Disney songs!) and some fun characters, it makes for a fun 90 minutes despite not being Disney's absolute best!

Posted by: Josh. Mar 26 2017, 08:00 PM

64. Pinocchio

262pts | 1940 | USA
Top 20's: None

From one Disney classic to another, this time one of the older films to feature in the countdown, Pinocchio, from 1940 making it over 75 years old now!

It really has stood the test of time and is still one of Disney's most iconic movies. It's jam-packed full of beloved characters such as Pinocchio himself and Jiminy Cricket, as well as an instantly recognisable song in When You Wish Upon a Star and and now pop-culture references such as 'I'm a real boy! ' and Pinocchio's extending nose every time he tells a fib.

It is actually one of few movies to have a rare 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes!

Posted by: Josh. Mar 26 2017, 08:07 PM

63. Home

263pts | 2015 | USA
Top 20's: None

Now we go from one of the oldest movies on the list to one of the more recent ones, I'm sure this probably benefitted a fair bit from recency bias and likely wouldn't be ranked above classics such as Pinocchio in years to come.

It follows the story of an alien named Oh (voiced by Jim Parson) on the run from his fellow Boovs who meets and befriends a young girl (voiced by Rihanna) and tries to help on her mission of being re-united with her mother.

It was a fun film and fairly popular amongst people on Buzzjack upon its release, it had some great jokes and there's a recurring theme here as it had some pretty catchy tunes on the soundtrack too including Jennifer Lopez's "Feel the Light" and Rihanna's "Towards the Sun" but it didn't exactly please the critics as it stands at 47% on Rotten Tomatoes. It did a pretty good job at the worldwide box office though, being the 19th highest grossing movie of 2015 with $386 million made.

Posted by: Mack Mar 26 2017, 09:27 PM

Weren't too sure about 'Home' don't really regard it as a animated classic compared to Pinocchio and Hercules.

Posted by: UltraGreenLight Mar 27 2017, 12:33 AM

Home is FABULOUS and so underrated sad.gif sad.gif genuinely think it's in my top 5 films from 2015? The voice cast kill it, the songs are fab, the animation is great and I loved the story and found it a whole load of FUN <3 so glad it did pretty well here! wub.gif

Posted by: Regina Mar 27 2017, 11:38 AM

Feel The Light makes Home a classic tbh

Posted by: Harrier Mar 27 2017, 11:53 AM

I think anyone who doesn't cry at the Pikachu scene is dead inside what a emotional scene cry.gif

Hercules is so good watched it recently actually I won't say I'm in love is probably my second favourite disney song after 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight'

Shrek The Third and Pinnocho also very good too!

Posted by: DalekTurret32 Mar 27 2017, 10:30 PM

Hercules: "Bless my soul, Herc is on the roll!" Such a great film.

"I've got 24 hours to get rid of this bozo, or the entire scheme I've been setting up for 18 years will go up in smoke... AND YOU ARE WEARING HIS MERCHANDISE?!"
"Oh my gods!" from Pain and Panic was a pretty funny line too.

Pinnochio: Need to see this. Looks really good
Home: Not too huge on that film but I did like the use of Red Balloon and Drop That in the soundtrack, along with this concept of a girl attempting to track down her mother in an alien invasion.

62. Cars

263pts | 2006 | USA | Pixar
Top 20's: BrightPlaces (#17)

One of the lower Pixar movies and this is to be expected as Cars has never been one of the most beloved from them. I think it's a bit unfairly disliked and has been tarnished by the sequel (even though I liked that a lot too laugh.gif) which means people have turned on this too.

It's actually a really heart-warming story about Lightning McQueen finding the true meaning of friendship and family despite being a hot-shot in the beginning. I think all the characters are great fun and all very likable and Radiator Springs itself just feels so cosy.

It was nominated for two Oscars, Best Original Song and Best Animated Film so it clearly was fairly popular at the time and it also made over $450 million worldwide, more than enough to warrant a sequel. Apparently, it is one of the biggest merchandise sellers for Disney and a Cars 3 is on the way this Summer so the money will keep rolling in! With a much darker tone in the trailers so far, we'll have to see how it fares with critics (hopefully better than Cars 2).

61. Animal Farm

265pts | 1954 | UK | Halas and Batchelor
Top 20's: DalekTurret (#3), Iz (#16), Severin (#19)

This isn't a film I've seen but it's based on George Orwell's classic novel about an animal revolution on a farm. It is aimed more at adults as it is really a social commentary on the events leading up to the Russian Revolution of 1917 and then on into the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union. Many characters are intended to represent famous historical people such as Joseph Stalin and Karl Marx.

It has a 63% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.2 on IMDb currently.

60. Over the Hedge

267pts | 2006 | USA | DreamWorks Animation
Top 20's: TaylorJago (#18)

This film follows the story of a raccoon who fools a collection of forest creatures into helping him return food to a bear, by invading new houses that popped up while they were hibernating and he ends up learning a lesson about family and friends whilst on his adventure.

It features some famous people in the voice cast, including Bruce Willis, Avril Lavigne, Steve Carrell, Nick Nolte and Omid Djalili.

It made over $330 million worldwide but unfortunately, a sequel has not been made. It didn't receive any Oscars nominations but it did receive an Annie award nomination for Best Animated Film.

Posted by: Harrier Mar 28 2017, 08:59 AM

The first Cars movie was great the second was good granted but was a step down. I love Mater wub.gif

Over The Hedge also very good wub.gif

Posted by: Jonjo Mar 28 2017, 10:10 AM

'Cars' is so under appreciated. I remember being hesitant to watch it because people were telling me how much they disliked it, but I remember being pleasantly surprised by it. It's not "omg this is amazing" or "best film ever", but it's better than people like others to believe it to be. sad.gif

'Over The Hedge' is horrific though! But it is Dreamworks afterall, sooo...

Posted by: UltraGreenLight Mar 28 2017, 03:39 PM

Over the hedge is f***ing horrendous and should be nowhere near that high. I was so excited to see it and I saw it for my birthday and absolutely hated! And I've given it a few chances since then and it somehow got worse and worse on each watch. Painful.

Cars isn't anything great and is one of the weakest Pixar films so it should also be lower!

Animal Farm is a really good adaptation though!

Posted by: DalekTurret32 Mar 29 2017, 12:56 PM

Animal Farm is excellent! I also saw the live action 1999 film version a couple of years ago but I didn't find it as good as the 1950's animated adaption.
I have only seen small bits of Cars, but not the actual film. Might want to see it someday
Over The Hedge. Haven't seen the film but I remember playing the PC game version a really long time ago but I stopped after like one or two levels (Maybe it was too hard for me at the time)

59. Flushed Away

273pts | 2006 | UK/USA | Aardman Animations/DreamWorks Animation
Top 20's: Harry & TaylorJago (#15)

This film follows the story of a rat that gets flushed down the toilet and ends up finding himself in the sewers of London. It also features a famous voice cast including Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, Ian McKellen & Andy Serkis. I have seen it but don't really remember a lot as it is kind of forgettable laugh.gif

It was nominated for a BAFTA award for Best Animated Film and it has a score of 6.6 on IMDb as well as a score of 72% on Rotten Tomatoes which is pretty solid to be fair ohmy.gif

58. Alice in Wonderland

280pts | 1951 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: SevenSeize (#4), Jonjo (#13), Froot (#17)

Alice in Wonderland tells the story of a young girl who stumbles upon the world of Wonderland and her journey on the way back home, meeting a treacherous villain, The Queen of Hearts, on her way. It is an adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic stories.

It has turned into a bit of a cult classic in terms of animation and as the land of Wonderland seems to resonate with a lot of people. It features many iconic characters from there such as The Mad Hatter, The Cheshire Cat, Queen of Hearts, White Rabbit, and Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

It was nominated for an Oscar for Best Music and it also has a 7.4 on IMDb as well as 79% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Posted by: Klaus Mar 29 2017, 02:58 PM

Shrek the Third is one of the dullest and most disappointing films I have ever seen. It was particularly disappointing when I consider Shrek 2 to be on par with the original! There was a clear lack of plot/story to be told and was clearly made solely for the money. I think that's even clearer when the fourth one used the alternative timeline storyline!

Alice in Wonderland is faaaar to low and I dread to think what average films will be above it.

Posted by: Regina Mar 29 2017, 03:13 PM

Never seen Alive In WOnderland, oops.

I'm taking over for the next few movies, kicking off tonight, hopefully.

Posted by: DalekTurret32 Mar 29 2017, 07:17 PM

Flushed Away is a great film ("Bon voyage, me old cream cracker")
Need to see Alice In Wonderland someday, looks fantastic (I remember seeing the 2010 live-action remake a long time ago though)

57. Dumbo (1942)

285 Points | USA | Top 20’s: (CHEZ #5)

Disney makes another appearance here in the form of that elephant with the big ass ears.
In a nutshell, it tells the tale of a baby elephant who has massive ears and is often make fun of because of it, however he can use them to fly. As with all Disney movies, adventure ensues. In an odd twist, his best friend is a mouse, thus neglecting the whole “Elephants hating mice” thing.
I must confess to never have seen this all the way through. Some of it is damn trippy though. Maybe worth a whole viewing. One day. A live action version directed by Tim Burton apparently is confirmed.

Posted by: Josh. Mar 29 2017, 09:39 PM

Dumbo is not one of my favourite Disney films really, it's sad at times but it has no killer songs, is a bit too odd and a bit too short too. I imagine a Tim Burton live-action version would be wacky fun though, I hope that's not going to be too long of a wait!

Posted by: Chez Wombat Mar 29 2017, 09:54 PM

Dumbo is a PERFECT film, a full story with no frills and dragging, well developed characters (outdated racist stereotypes aside), a hell of a lot of heart and tension throughout and an iconic weird scene. wub.gif Really don't get enough films like that these days and now I'm going to cry thinking about the scene with him and his mother meeting temporarily through the cage...cry.gif

I'm in two minds about Tim Burton's remake, it really wasn't a film that needed much done with it but I'm interested to see his interpretation of pink elephants ;o

56. Peter Pan (1953)

296 Points | USA | Top 20’s: (FROOT #8)

Oh, hey Disney. Everyone knows the story to this one. A boy who never wants to grow up and lives in a magical land called Neverland brings along some children to have some adventures. There’s an angry pirate, a jealous fairy and lots of lost boys.

This one I have seen, many times and used to enjoy a lot more than I do now. Maybe because Peter comes off as annoying: lol:
There have been many live action versions of this, but Hook with Robin Williams remains the best. 2015’s Pan was…. well, a pan, but you get to see Garrett Hedlund as a pirate *.*
and it gave a nice backstory to everyone.
Shout out to Finding Neverland starring Kate Winslet though in which we find out the inspiration for J.M. Barrie to write Peter Pan. Somewhat similar idea to Saving Mr Banks.

Posted by: Jonjo Mar 30 2017, 05:28 PM

'Alice In Wonderland' is so underrated! I was extremely disappointed in the live action movie (not seen the sequel, nor do I want to). They could've done SO MUCH MORE with "Wonderland"! The animation is actually pretty dark at times. Really good!

'Dumbo' is good and cute, but that's all and 'Peter Pan' is good, also. A bit overrated, but not too much.

The less said about 'Flushed Away' the better tbh.

Posted by: Chez Wombat Mar 30 2017, 06:16 PM

Peter Pan on the other hand is a 'classic' I've never got the fuss with (and the 2003 live action version was awful) I guess it's cos I've always found the character himself very hard to root for (which I guess is the point)? Never I mean I almost don't blame Hook for being a bit pissed with someone that lost him his leg laugh.gif

55. How To Train Your Dragon 2 (2014)

297 Points | USA | Top 20’s: (BRIGHTPLACES #6, JACOB #17)

As you might expect, this is the follow-up to How To Train Your Dragon, and pick up the story five years later. Finding a hidden cave with hundreds of wild dragons, a whole new adventure awaits the two main characters in this movie.
New characters include a mad warrior called Drago and Hiccup’s long lost dragon riding mother.
Never saw the first one, so not seen this either, but it looks good

Posted by: J♀sh Mar 30 2017, 08:24 PM

I don't really get all the hype behind the How to Train Your Dragon movies, they're quite fun and some of the animation is gorgeous but they seem to get really good reviews and they're hardly THAT much better than other DreamWorks movies imo laugh.gif Give me a Trolls type movie over that any day!

54. Hotel Transylvania (2012)

307 Points | USA | Top 20’s: (CAMERON #15)

Okay, NOW this I have seen and actually loved.
With an all-star cast that includes Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez and The Nanny herself FRAN DRESCHER, this movie is all about Dracula owning a hotel for monsters, away from humans. When his daughter turns 118, a massive party is thrown but things go wrong when a clueless and harmless backpacker stumbles on the hotel.
This was a really fun movie and despite being for kids, there was enough sneaky adult stuff in it to make it worth watching at any age. Having such recognisable voices was great too, there’s no getting away from Fran’s voice.
A sequel was released in 2015 and a third movie will be out in 2018.

53. Tarzan (1999)

327 Points | USA | Top 20’s: (REGINA #6)

One of the very best Disney movies ever, even with the addition of Phil Collins on the soundtrack. After being shipwrecked and losing his parents, a young boy is raised by apes and grows up to become Tarzan, guardian of the jungle. Many years later another boat lands on the island with the first human that Tarzan has been. He falls for one of them, a QoL called Jane. Although not all the humans are friendly. Dun Dun DUUUUN.
Minnie Driver slays the role of Jane and the interactions between her and Tarzna are amazing. As is Glen Close as Tarzan’s mother monkey.
The soundtrack is amazing too, even if Mandy Moore’s end credits song is totally overlooked on every copy of the soundtrack.
A live action version with Alexander Skarsgård was released last year and slightly alters the plot, by which I mean this is a kind of sequel, but to good use as it was a pretty big success.

How To Train Your Dragon 2 is SO good! A gigantic improvement of the extremely overrated predecessor so it was a shame to see it underperform a lot compared to expectations at the box office sad.gif

Hotel Transylvania is also FAB and never fails to make me laugh & put a smile on my face! <3 New Halloween classic *.*

Posted by: PaulM1983 Apr 2 2017, 01:40 PM

I adore the Hotel Transylvania movies, they're so good.

I can't really bring myself to like Tarzan. It's just a story I've never got invested in. Maybe because it's been told to death in so many ways, much like Peter Pan. I'd never choose to watch either of them.

Posted by: Harry♀ Apr 2 2017, 06:17 PM

Tarzan is so good *.*

I only have caught the end of Hotel Transylvania so should watch it all at some point

Posted by: J♀sh Apr 3 2017, 04:15 PM

I agree with Paul that Tarzan has just never really connected with me. A likable protagonist is KEY to liking a film for me and Tarzan is very distant so it's hard to enjoy watching him and his story. An unlikable protagonist is the same reason I disliked 'Up' (and in terms of non-animation, it was one of the reasons that I dislike 'Boyhood').

The Hotel Transylvania films are amazing though, so much fun humour and some fantastic characters and cameos. I loved the joke in the sequel with Dracula's toothbrush having a gap in the middle so it fitted his fangs perfectly laugh.gif

Posted by: Mack Apr 4 2017, 11:44 AM

Would never tire of Tarzan at all.

Although no more retellings of this please.

52. Happy Feet (2006)

336 Points | USA | Top 20’s: (UV #7)

Singing dancing penguins. Yes, they made a movie of this. Awesome, right? Well, kind of.
Frodo Baggins does the voice of a penguin called Mumble who alas, cannot sing, which is a big deal since these penguins use their voices to get a mate. So rather than die alone, he sets out to show off to the women by dancing.
There is also a more serious nature featuring humans and fishing. Alongside Frodo was the voices of Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, Robin Williams and Brittany Murphy.
The songs from this movie are epic, especially the ones by Brittany Murphy.

A sequel was released in 2011 but with P!nk replacing Brittany who sadly passed away.

51. Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs (2009)

USA | 337 Points

A movie about foooood. Yay. Based on a book too, who knew?
Hardship falls upon a small town and they are forced to eat sardines. An inventor finds a way to make a machine that turns water into food. End of movie, right? Wrong. Something goes wrong, obviously, and he has to find a way to stop the machine from making food fall from the sky and bury the place thus making a lot of mess and death etc.
Stars like Anna Faris, Bill Hader and Andy Samberg lead the cast of this oddly amusing movie. This movie has spawned a sequel and a TV series.

Posted by: DalekTurret32 Apr 4 2017, 03:12 PM

I like Happy Feet and Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs so it's pretty nice for me to see them appear.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is loads of fun, I haven't seen it in absolutely ages but it was always one of my favourites when I was a bit younger. Such a bonkers concept laugh.gif I don't think I ever even saw the sequel though, was a bit more grown up by then.

Posted by: maria00 Apr 8 2017, 07:01 AM

additionally any extra top 10 predicts earlier than we get commenced later these days.Ghibli films to be as high as possible. And as they won't win, go for a classic Disney one as the winner.

50. Monsters Vs Aliens

343pts | 2009 | USA | Dreamworks
Top 20's: Regina (#8), Severin (#17)

This film tells the story of a woman who is turned into a giant and then joins a team of monsters that unite to fight an alien attempting to take over the world.

It features a famous voice cast including Reese Witherspoon, Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd and Hugh Laurie. It also made $380 million at the worldwide box office.

Personally, I can't say I've seen the film but I did actually go to the cinema to see it laugh.gif It was when I was on holiday in Sydney and my Aunt had treated us to see this in a lovely cinema with reclining chairs where they serve you food/drinks in the cinema. So I drank my milkshake, put my feet up and fell asleep in the trailers and didn't wake up until the film was over heehee.gif

49. Madagacar 3: Europe's Most Wanted

351pts | 2012 | USA | Dreamworks
Top 20's: Taylor (#4), Cody (#15)

This is the one where they join a circus and their journey takes them all the way from New York to Europe!

The main cast including Ben Stiller, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer, Chris Rock & Sacha Baron Cohen all returned as well as new additions to the cast including Frances McDormand, Bryan Cranston & Jessica Chastain! It actually made almost $750 million at the worldwide box office (the most of the franchise!!) but has yet to get a proper sequel.

I have definitely seen this because I remember the Afro Circus thing and I love the four main characters so I probably enjoyed it but they did all start to blend into one at this point tbh heehee.gif

This seems like a bit of a forgotten classic nowadays as it has largely been overshadowed by future Pixar films. It remains one of their least financially successful films and is seldom brought up in conversations about their best films.

It's a really cute film though in my opinion and I think I would rank it pretty highly in comparison to other Pixar films although I do admit to not revisiting it so often.

It also features the familiar voices of Hayden Panettiere, Kevin Spacey and Julia Louis-Dreyfus and was an Oscar nominee in the Best Music, Original Musical or Comedy Score category! (It came out a couple years before the Animated Feature category was created).

Loooove 'A Bug's Life'! I rewatched it the other week and it's still really under rated/forgotten about, which is a shame </3

47. Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit

390pts | 2005 | UK | Dreamworks
Top 20's: Mack (#5), Klaus (#15)

This movie tells of the story of Wallace and Gromit who work together to discover the mystery behind a rabbit destroying crops.

It actually won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature for 2005 and made $192 million at the worldwide box office.

Personally, I wasn't that keen on this film because I don't really like the character of Wallace and find him kind of annoying plus I find the animation style a bit grating. Yay for Helena Bonham Carter & Ralph Fiennes tho!!

Posted by: DalekTurret32 May 23 2017, 09:39 AM

I think I remember seeing Were-Rabbit in the cinema but I don't remember a lot of the film.
I do remember seeing the three short Wallace And Gromit films on DVD though, as well as Wrong Trousers on VHS. They were a lot of fun.

46. The Fox and the Hound

407pts | 1981 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: Haus (#6), Jacob (#12)

A Disney classic but one that is rarely brought up in conversation about their VERY best films, The Fox and the Hound tells the story of two puppy friends who grow up and are forced fo be enemies.

I didn't realise until now but it actually features Mickey Rooney and Kurt Russell as the voices of the two main characters ohmy.gif

For me, this is massively under-rated and one of the Disney films that still gets me so emotional when I see it! The scene where Copper saves Tod from being shot gets me EVERY time :'(

45. Monsters University

419pts | 2013 | USA | Pixar
Top 20's: Josh (#14)

The long-awaited follow-up to Monsters, Inc (2001) arrived in the form of a prequel set in Monsters University where Sully and Mike first meet.

It was a massive financial success earning over $740 million worldwide but not as well reviewed as the first film. The film saw the return of cast members John Goodman and Billy Crystal as well as the addition of Helen Mirren who voiced the amazing bitch, Dean Hardscrabble.

It wasn't nominated for any Oscars but was nominated at the BAFTAs for Best Animated film where it lost to Frozen.

I don't really get the distaste towards this film, I think it's just as charming as the first film and they make a great back-to-back watch. I'd love a third film still and I'm glad we finally did get a sequel even if we had to wait over a decade!

44. Brave

421pts | 2012 | USA | Pixar
Top 20's: BrightPlaces (#11)

Brave is the story of a young Scottish princess who has ro balance fitting in with her regal surroundings with the fact that her mother has turned into a bear!

It made $540 million worldwide at the box office and Merida herself has been added to the Disney Princess line-up making her the only Pixar character so far to appear there. It also WON the Oscar for Best Animated Film beating out the likes of Wreck-It Ralph, ParaNorman & Frankenweenie.

From my point of view, the film has a fun a little story and some enjoyable jokes and characters too but certainly lacks the emotional weight that the majority of Pixar films have.

43. The Jungle Book

432pts | 1967 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: Bal (#5), Chez (#6)

One of Disney's most famous classics drop out at #43. The Jungle Book tells the story of Mowgli, a young boy raised by wolves in the jungle, on the run from a terrifying villain, Shere Khan, with help from his bear and panther friends & mentors, Baloo & Bagheera, along the way.

It also features some of Disney's most famous songs including The Bare Necessities (which was nominated at the Oscars for Best Original Song!) and I Wanna Be Like You.

If I'm being completely honest, the 2016 remake of the film was much better imo. This has never been one of my absolute faves from Disney and phenomenal special effects in the live-action version really help to elevate the movie to a whole new level.

42. Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs

439pts | 1937 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: SevenSeize (#9), HarryApa (#20)

And the next film to drop out comes in the form of the first EVER animated Disney classic, Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs. It's really crazy to think that this film is now 80 years old x_x

It was a massive box office success at the time too and is actually in the top 10 highest grossing movies list in the USA when adjusted for inflation (the only animated film to make the list! with 101 Dalmations at #12 & The Lion King at #19).

Despite not being one of my favourite Disney movies, I really do appreciate it for how much of a classic it is. The Mirror on the wall is, of course, now iconic and I adore the characters of the dwarfs too.

41. The Nightmare Before Christmas

440pts | 1993 | USA | Walt Disney Studios
Top 20's: Severin (#2), Chez (#14)

Dropping out just short of the Top 40 is an animated classic produced by non other than Tim Burton.

Jack Skellington has become one of the most instantly recognisable movie characters from an animated film and it remains an annual Halloween/Christmas staple more than 20 years later for many households.

It's not a film that I've actually seen but it's definitely on my watch list, everyone must love it for a reason!

Posted by: DalekTurret32 May 28 2017, 08:00 PM

Monsters Uni and Jungle Book (thumbs up to both)

Posted by: Jonjo May 28 2017, 10:06 PM

Snow White wub.gif In my top 3 "Disney princess" movies. The other 2 are 'Alice In Wonderland' and now 'Moana'.

I, however, don't get or understand why 'Nightmare Before Christmas' is so well liked?!

40. Spirited Away

452pts | 2001 | Japan | Studio Ghibli
Top 20's: Iz (#2), Chez & Severin (#8), Haus (#13)

Known as one of Hayao Miyazaki & Studio Ghibli's finest films, Spirited Away has one many accolades and is often listed amongst the greatest animated films of all-time.

It tells the story of a young girl who moves to a new town where she ends up entering the spirit world. Her parents are turned into pigs by an evil witch and she has to find a way to free herself and her parents.

I imagine the reason it is a bit lower here is that less people on Buzzjack will have not seen the film (including me) compared to the likes of Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks films. I really must get around to changing that though as I know it is is supposed to be fantastic.

Posted by: Jonjo May 31 2017, 08:30 AM

The one Studio Ghibli I really wanna see that I haven't got around to watching yet. I've not seen a couple of others either, but this is at the top of my list, with 'My Neighbour Totoro'!

Yeah, I'd like to see Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro, Princess Mononoke & Ponyo. My Aunt owns all of the Studio Ghibli films so I will have to to borrow them soon!!

39. Kung Fu Panda

457pts | 2008 | USA | Dreamworks
Top 20's: Cody (#13), Iz (#14)

Kung Fu Panda is the first film in the Kung Fu Panda trilogy and it tells the story of Po, the panda, who aspires to be a kung fu master. He is then picked as the chosen one who is destined to defeat Tai Lung, an evil snow leopard who returns after escaping from prison.

It features the voices of famous stars including Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen and Dustin Hoffman. It was a big financial success making $631.7 million worldwide and it spawned two sequels. A potential 4th film is up-in-the-air as the 3rd film made over $130 less than the previous instalment (although I imagine it still made a good profit for the studio).

This is definitely my favourite Kung Fu Panda film but I think that's probably because I was only 8 years old and appreciated the juvenile humour more. In last year's Kung Fu Panda 3, I was rolling my eyes a bit at some of the jokes. The visual effects and fight scenes can be appreciated by anyone at any age though, some of the visuals are gorgeous *-*

38. Robin Hood

462pts | 1973 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: Harry (#11), Haus (#17), Jonjo (#19)

Another Disney animation classic drops out now at #38 and this time it is their version of the old tale of Robin Hood (but this time, using animals instead of people)! It tells the story of Robin Hood & the citizens of Nottingham who fight against unfair tax legislation whilst Robin also attempts to court Maid Marian.

Disney have announced a live-action remake of this called 'Nottingham & Hood' and is said to be a similar tone to the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. This was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song for the track 'Love'.

Personally, this isn't a Disney film that I return to often but I do enjoy it when it's on TV or something. I'm buzzed for a live-action Disney remake though if we do end up getting it. There's also an unrelated Robin Hood movie scheduled for 2018 starring Taron Egerton, Jamie Dornan, Jamie Foxx, Ben Mendelsohn!

Posted by: UltraGreenLight May 31 2017, 08:59 AM

Madagascar 3 & Wallace & Gromit are my favourites from the recent section wub.gif Both childhood faves that I have watched multiple times on repeat, especially the latter!
The two Pixar ones are really good as well!
Still need to see Spirited Away properly, I saw bits when I was younger!

37. Ratatouille

465pts | 2007 | USA | Pixar
Top 20's: Seven (#3), BrightPlaces (#18), Taylor (#19)

At first I was expecting this to be a bit higher than just scraping the top 40 but I guess that it's not really often named as one of Pixar's absolute best films even though it is great. It should still be higher than some of the films left to come though, #judgingyou smoke.gif

Anyway, it tells the story of a rat named Remy who aspires to be a chef and strikes up a friendship with a young man who works in a restaurant in Paris where their teamwork proves to be a great success.

It was a financial success earning just over $620 million worldwide making it Pixar's 8th highest grossing movie worldwide. It won the Oscar for Best Animated Film and was nominated for 4 more Oscars (Sound Mixing, Sound Editing, Score & Original Screenplay)!

Posted by: Iz~ May 31 2017, 09:45 AM

Spirited Away is excellent, one of the best movies I've ever seen! Very pleased it scraped in top 40 on this considering how many haven't seen it.

Kung Fu Panda and Ratatouille are fairly cool films from what I remember.

36. Coraline

485pts | 2009 | USA | Laika
Top 20's: Seven (#5), Klaus (#13), DalekTurret (#16), Severin (#18)

Coraline tells the story of a young girl who finds a secret door in her home that leads to a different world.

It made $124 million at the worldwide box office and was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Animated Film category where it lost to Pixar's Up.

I've not seen this film because the button eyes scare me and I would probably have nightmares to be honest heehee.gif

35. Despicable Me 2

489pts | 2013 | USA | Illumination
Top 20's: Jahq (#17), Taylor (#17), Ultraviolence (#18)

Despicable Me 2 saw the return of Gru and the Minions, this time Gru teams up with the Anti-Villain League to discover the truth behind a stolen laboratory in the Arctic.

The film saw the return of Steve Carell, Russell Brand and Kristen Wiig (although she voiced a different role this time) and made $970 million at the worldwid box office, a massive success for the studio. It spawned the spin-off, Minions, which made over a $1 billion at the worldwide box office as well as the upcoming direct sequel, Despicable Me 3.

It was nominated for two Oscars (Best Animated feature film which it lost to Frozen & Best Song for Pharrell's "Happy" which it also lost to Frozen for Idina Menzel's "Let It Go").

Posted by: UltraGreenLight Jun 1 2017, 10:06 AM

Ratatouille is vile. Shocked and glad it isn't higher though! cheer.gif

Coraline/Despicable Me 2 are fantastic films though wub.gif The first is a terrific animation and the latter was so much fun *.* (bar that beyond vile song, if that beat Let It Go at the Oscars....)

34. Lilo and Stitch

518pts | 2002 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: Cameron (#2), Regina (#3), Klaus (#4), Cody (#9), Chez (#18)

This film tells the story of Lilo, a young girl, and Stitch, an extraterrestrial creature created to cause chaos, and the unlikely friendship that forms between the two.

It was nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film where it lost to Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away. The film made $273 million at the worldwide box office.

I don't THINK I've seen this but it obviously must be quite good if it has this many lovers on here. I've seen the TV show when I was younger but I didn't think it was anything that special?

Posted by: ~josh~ Jun 1 2017, 10:17 AM

33. The Little Mermaid

526pts | 1989 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: Josh (#11), Jonjo (#14)

The Little Mermaid tells the story of a young mermaid named Ariel who wants nothing more than to be human and be able to live life above the sea. She gets involved with an evil sea witch in order to fulfil her dreams.

The Little Mermaid earned three Oscar nominations and it won two of them (making it the first Oscar nomination for a Disney Animation for 13 years for The Rescuers!). It won for Best Original Score and Best Song for "Under the Sea" where it beat out its other nomination for "Kiss the Girl".

I am SHOOK at this being so low, I was legitimately expecting it to be a top 10 contender. It easily in my top 3 Disney princess films. It's such a good story, has some brilliant characters including all of the fun side characters and some of Disney's best songs ! Gutted at it being this low sad.gif

Posted by: Klaus Jun 1 2017, 11:51 AM

Can we all appreciate some of the best marketing for a movie ever?:

LOVE Lilo & Stitch soo much, Stitch is just adorable and I love the Hawaiian setting, as well as the music that goes along with it.

Posted by: Chez Wombat Jun 1 2017, 01:05 PM

Despicable Me 2 above Spirited Away errrrrrr :/ I'm surprised how many people here haven't seen the latter, I remember watching it when I was at primary school ohmy.gif (though I don't remember if it got a wide cinema release at the time in the UK). One of my all time favourites definitely though heart.gif Great to see Coraline in the top 40 too, it's certainly creepy but it's really bold and tension filled for a mainstream animated film and beautifully shot.

I really thought The Jungle Book, Snow White and The Little Mermaid would've been top 20 certs, guessing Pixar really did dominate the upper half.

32. The Aristocats

541pts | 1970 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: Jacob (#9), Iz (#11) Haus (#14)

The Aristocats tells the story of a family of aristocratic cats are helped by an alley cat after they are kidnapped by a butler.

In 2005, Disney announced a sequel was in the works but it was eventually cancelled when John Lasseter was named Disney's new chief creative officer.

This is an other Disney classic that I really ought to revisit more often but I always forget to. I'm a bit shocked at how high up it has finished (would never have expected it to outpeak The Little Mermaid or The Jungle Book)!

31. One Hundred and One Dalmations

544pts | 1961 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: Chez (#7), Harry (#8) Haus (#9), Klaus (#16)

And another Disney animated classic drops out! This time it is 101 Dalmations which tells the story of a group of young puppies who are kidnapped by the evil Cruella De Vil who wants to use them to make into nice new coats...

It is one of Disney's most successful films financially due to its numerous re-releases. It is actually 12th on the list of highest grossing movies of all time when adjusted for inflation in the USA!

I always find this pretty under-rated for a Disney film as it is rather lovely but rarely gets brought up in conversations when discussing the absolute best Disney films. It's done very well here though and seems to have a lot of big fans!

30. Grave of the Fireflies

553pts | 1988 | Japan | Studio Ghibli
Top 20's: Jacob (#2), Iz & Severin (#4) Haus (#12), Jonjo (#15), Harry (#16)

Grave of the Fireflies is the story of two young siblings who struggle to survive in the Second World War.

It is ranked at #57 in IMDb's All-Time Top 250 list.

To be honest, I'd never even heard of this film before being sent the results for this countdown but I'm clearly missing out on something special.

Posted by: ~josh~ Jun 2 2017, 09:01 AM

29. Finding Dory

597pts | 2016 | USA | Pixar
Top 20's: Jonjo (#11), Harry (#12) Mack & Jahq & Ultraviolence (#14)

It took 13 years to get a sequel to Finding Nemo but it finally arrived in 2016! Finding Dory is about Dory's search for her long-lost parents which doesn't prove to be all that easy due to her frequent memory loss.

Finding Dory made a lot of money at the box office (over $1 billion worldwide actually) and is currently 25th on the list of highest grossing movies of all time worldwide and 4th on the same list when just including animated films (behind Frozen, Minions & Toy Story 3). It was shockingly snubbed at the Oscars in the Animated Film category.

I mainly agreed with critics who said it was a nice enough film but doesn't really hold a candle to Finding Nemo which is a shame. A lot of critics complained about how silly it was at times. To be fair, it does feature an octopus driving a truck.

Posted by: ~josh~ Jun 2 2017, 05:12 PM

28. Zootopia

606pts | 2016 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: DalekTurret & Jahq (#4), UV (#8), Taylor (#14), Jonjo (#20)

Zootopia (or Zootropolis depending on where you come from) is the story of Judy Hopps, a rabbit who aspires to be a police officer and her mission to discover why some animals are turning rogue and attacking others in the city of Zootopia. She gets some help from a sky fox named Nick Wilde along the way who she eventually befriends.

It was a slightly smaller financial success than Finding Dory as it stands at #28 on the all time highest grossing movies list but it was still a huge hit making over a billion dollars worldwide. It also won the Oscar for Best Animated Film that year so it seems Buzzjack agrees that it was a great film.

Posted by: Jonjo Jun 2 2017, 11:49 PM

Really shocked at 'The Little Mermaid' finishing as low as that! ohmy.gif I really thought it'd be a definite top 20! sad.gif

Yay for 'Grave Of the Fireflies' finishing pretty decently and I'm happy enough with 'Finding Dory's position. wub.gif

27. Big Hero 6

636pts | 2014 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: Jonjo (#3), BrightPlaces (#4), DalekTurret (#7), Josh (#9), Jahq (#12), Taylor (#20)

Big Hero 6 is the story of a young boy called Hiro who utilises his brother's creation, Baymax, and teams up with a group of friends in order to defeat a masked villain.

The film made $657 million at the worldwide box office and won the Oscar for Best Animated Film beating out the likes of The Boxtrolls and How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Personally, this is one of my favourite all-time Disney movies. The characters are all brilliant (how cute is Baymax *-*), the action is brilliant (how cool are the microbots?!?) and the story has some touching moments (obviously the fire at the technology institute and also removing the healthcare chip from Baymax sad.gif). So glad this has done so well here cheer.gif

26. Despicable Me

645pts | 2010 | USA | Illumination
Top 20's: Taylor (#9), BrightPlaces (#10), Ultraviolence (#17)

Despicable Me is the film that introduced us to Gru, an super villain who adopts three young girls from an orphanage and plans to steal and shrink the moon.

The film made $543 million at the worldwide box office and has so far already produced two more massively successful sequels with a third Despicable Me film on the horizon this year. It was nominated at the BAFTAs and Golden Globes in the Animated Film category but lost both to Toy Story 3.

I'm really shocked at how well this has done here as I didn't realise it was that loved! It's a cute film for sure but I'd put a lot of the films that have dropped out already above it (and I preferred Minions as a movie tbh, was so funny! laugh.gif)

Posted by: ~josh~ Jun 3 2017, 08:29 AM

25. Bambi

659pts | 1942 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: Chez (#3), Cameron (#11) Josh (#12), Haus (#16), Harry (#19), Seven (#20)

Bambi tells the story of a young deer growing up in the forest with his animal friends.

It was nominated for three Oscars in Best Sound Recording, Best Original Score for a Comedy or Dramatic Picture and best Original Song for "Love is a Song" but didn't win any. It actually lost the Best Song award to White Christmas by Bing Crosby.

This is one of my absolute favourite animated films, it is really special in my opinion so I'm pleased it's done quite well in terms of the Disney animated classics here. It features one of the greatest villains of all time (it makes mankind seem absolutely terrifying), some of the saddest scenes ever (Bambi's mother's death cry.gif) and one of the best ever scores imo (the music instils so much dread and fear in my body in the scenes where mankind are about and the wildlife is in danger).

24. How to Train Your Dragon

709pts | 2010 | USA | Dreamworks
Top 20's: BrightPlaces (#2), Iz (#6) Jacob (#7), Jahq (#19)

How to Train Your Dragon is based on a serious of childrens books about a teenager named Hiccup and his pet dragon, Toothless.

It features the famous voices of Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Jonah Hill and David Tennant. It was very successful critically for Dreamworks too and was nominated for two Oscars (Best Animated Film and Best Original Score which it lost to Toy Story 3 and The Social Network respectively.

I've not seen this film yet but I did see the sequel and really enjoyed it so I imagine this is just as good, if not better.

Posted by: websiteee Jun 3 2017, 10:24 AM

23. Mulan

720pts | 1998 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: Cameron (#1), Cody (#2) Harry & Josh (#3), Regina (#10), Jacob (#11)

Mulan is the story of a young woman who disguises as a man to take her aging father's place in the army.

It was nominated at the Oscars in the Best Original Score but lost out to Shakespere in Love in that category. I'm surprised it wasn't nominated for Original Song too as both Reflection & I'll Make a Man Out of You are brilliant.

This has always been one of my favourite Disney animated classics. Mulan is incredibly badass, Mushu is one of the funniest and most enjoyable Disney sidekicks and the plot is very exciting too. This is definitely my most hyped upcoming Disney live-action remake heart.gif

Posted by: ~josh~ Jun 4 2017, 08:51 AM

22. Tangled

772pts | 2010 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: BrightPlaces (#1), Regina (#1) Cody (#12)

Tangled is the tale of Rapunzel and her flowing blonde hair who is locked up in a tower. She is able to escape and explore the outside world with Flynn Rider.

Tangled made $591 million at the worldwide box office adding to a long list of successful Disney movies in the current Disney revival. It features some brilliant songs including my personal favourite, "Mother Knows Best", as well as the Oscar nominated song "I See the Light" (which it lost the Oscar to "We Belong Together" from Toy Story 3).

My little sister absolutely adores this film and so do I so it's a film that we watch a lot. It's a lovely adventure story with plenty of twists and turns and good humour as well as two incredibly likable main characters. What's not to like?

Posted by: ~josh~ Jun 4 2017, 09:02 AM

21. Beauty and the Beast

781pts | 1991 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: Josh (#4), Iz (#8) UV (#9), Harry & Haus (#10)

Beauty and the Beast is the story of Belle who is imprisoned by a Beast and his talking furniture after she takes the place of her father.

Beauty and the Beast was a massive success becoming the first EVER animated film to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars (there have only been two since, those being Up and Toy Story 3 but both years had more than five nominees in that category) where it lost to The Silence of the Lambs. It was also nominated for Best Sound (lost to Terminator 2), Best Original Song three times ("Beauty and the Beast" won beating out "Be Our Guest" and "Belle"), and won for Original Score too ending the night with two Oscars.

This is another one where I'm so shocked at how low it is, I was expecting top 10!! It is one of Disney's most famous stories, features some of their absolute best songs, has some brilliant characters (who doesn't love Lumiere and Mrs Potts & Chip?!?) and is just a lovely story, the ending always puts a smile on my face! Wish this was higher sad.gif

Thanks again and roll on the top 20!!

Mulan and Beauty and the Beast are both animated classics wub.gif

Finding Dory does not compare to its first film but it's enjoyable

Posted by: Iz~ Jun 4 2017, 10:22 AM

Grave Of The Fireflies is a sheer beauty. It stands out so much on this list because the Eastern tradition of animated films in comparison to the Disney crowd, it's all tears no comic relief the entire way through and it's is fantastic for it.

Not that I don't like that sort of stuff, How To Train Your Dragon, Mulan and Beauty And The Beast are all pretty incredible animated films from our hemisphere. I've heard good things about Zootopia, but the less said about Despicable Me and the THINGS it spawned the better. And Finding Dory was a bit average too.

Posted by: Chez Wombat Jun 4 2017, 12:34 PM

I mean Despicable Me's alright as a film, just a shame what it inspired...

Some of the very best of old and new Disney here. Tangled, Zootopia and Big Hero 6 are future classics and Bambi is one of my all time favourites, one of the first films I saw and THAT death still breaks my heart, commendable that a children's film like that at that time managed to fit in some pretty dark themes and little fantasy.

I'm surprised Grave of the Fireflies is so much higher than Spirited Away, but I'm not complaining. Took me a while to get round to seeing it, but it's beautiful (if an extremely tough watch </3)

Posted by: DalekTurret32 Jun 5 2017, 10:51 PM

I think I remember seeing How To Train Your Dragon in the cinema a long time ago but I don't remember a lot of it so I might need to rewatch it.
Oh, and am I the only one who thought of Schezuan Sauce by looking at 23 [Mulan]?

Posted by: Mack Jun 6 2017, 10:37 PM

20. The Lego Movie

801pts | 2014 | USA | Warner Bros./Warner Animation Group
Top 20's: Iz (#10), Jonjo (#10), Regina (#13), Mack (#14), Chez (#19), Jacob (#19)

The Lego Movie is the story of an ordinary construction worker named Emmet who is caught up in a mission to save the world. It features fun Lego cameos along the way from the likes of Batman, Superman and C-3PO.

It was a massive box office success making $469.2 million worldwide and spawning two spin-offs so far with The Lego Batman Movie and the upcoming Lego Ninjago Movie.
The film was a huge critical success too and scored 96% on Rotten Tomatoes but was infamously snubbed at the Oscars in the Animated category that year.

This is a film I really enjoyed when I saw it at the cinema (mainly because I'm a big sucker for any sort of exciting cameos and this was full of them w00t.gif) but I haven't seen it since which is a shame. I adored the Batman movie this year though, they seem to get the humour so right in these films wub.gif

LEGO Movie was great

Posted by: UltraRedLight Jul 30 2017, 11:17 PM

vile film. Should be nowhere near the top 20. Especially considering it beat the majestic Beauty & The Beast and Tangled to the top 20 sad.gif

19. Ice Age- 806 Points (JAHQ #10, BRIGHTPLACES #13, SEVERIN #15)

19. Ice Age

806pts | 2002 | USA | Blue Sky Studios
Top 20's: Jahq (#10), BrightPlaces (#13), Severin (#15)

So let's kick off with the first good film of the top 20 *.*

Ice Age is a film set during the days of the ice age; animals begin migrating south to escape the winters. Once Manny, a no-nonsense mammoth meets Sid, a loudmouthed ground sloth and the two find a human baby, they set out to return the baby. Joining them is a saber-tooth tiger named Diego, who is commanded by his pack leader to bring the baby to him to enact revenge against the humans. This was the first in the franchise which has now spawned four sequels!

It was a massive box office success making $383 million worldwide, the 8th highest of ALL TIME at the time of release and it had the highest March opening/3rd highest animated movie of all time at the time as well! The film was a critical success too and scored 77% on Rotten Tomatoes and the film was nominated at the Oscars in the Animated category that year but lost to Spirited Away which finished a lot lower than Ice Age here!

I adore this film and it is my 2nd favourite of the franchise behind the third entry! A charming animated classic <3

Posted by: Chez Wombat Jul 30 2017, 11:30 PM

errr The Lego Movie is one of the best animated films of recent years x

So many favourites coming up now that I'm wishing were higher, though I'm sure there's some great ones still to come. Ice Age is a lovely film, I just wish it was left at that rather than rinsed to death with sequel overload...

18. Aladdin

812pts | 1992 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: DalekTurret (#1), Haus (#8), Froot (#9), Jonjo (#18), Josh (#20)

Aladdin is one of the most popular and famous Disney animated classics coming out in 1992 during a real purple patch for them where they released classics like this, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King all within the space of five years time! Aladdin tells the story of a young street rat who meets a genie and has to use his three wishes carefully to earn the love of a princess, Jasmine.

Aladdin was a huge hit both critically and at the box office making over $504 million worldwide which is incredible considering it was released in the 90s! It was nominated for FIVE Oscars including two wins for Best Original Song with 'A Whole New World' and Best Original Score. It has spawned a massively successful West End show too and is on course to be one of the next Disney live-action remakes with Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott as the film's two leads and Will Smith cast as the Genie.

This has always been one of my favourite Disney films and it has some spectacular songs too (my favourite actually being "One Jump Ahead"). Shout out to Jafar for being one of the best Disney villains too wub.gif

17. The Incredibles

851pts | 2004 | USA | Pixar
Top 20's: Josh (#5), Iz (#13), Froot (#14), Severin (#14), BrightPlaces (#15), Jacob (#15), Cody (#20)

The Incredibles was the sixth feature length film made by Pixar following on from huge successes including Toy Story, Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo. It tells the story of a family with superpowers who must unite to overcome the super-villain named Syndrome.

It was a big box office success earning $633 million worldwide and still stands as the 7th largest grosser for Pixar worldwide out of 18 movies. It was a big critical success too earning Oscar nominations for Original Screenplay and Sound as well as winning two for Sound Editing and Animated Feature Film. It has taken 14 years to make it here but we are getting an Incredibles 2 next year w00t.gif

This is probably my favourite ever Pixar film and I've always loved it loads since being a kid. It has loads of heart whilst being exciting and funny all at the same time. I'd say the sequel is one of my most hyped movies of next year for sure, I hope they get it right ! wub.gif

16. Madagascar

862pts | 2005 | USA | Dreamworks
Top 20's: Taylor (#1), Jahq (#8), Mack (#12), Harry (#14)

Madagascar is a 2005 DreamWorks flick which featured the voices of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer & Jada Pinkett Smith. It tells the story of four animals from the Central Park Zoo who unexpectedly find themselves stranded on the island of Madagascar. Despite its mixed critical reception, it was a massive success at the box office and was DreamWorks first franchise after Shrek iirc.

It was a big box office success earning $532m & it is the 9th highest grossing DreamWorks flick worldwide as of December 2013. The film scored average reviews (55% on Rotten Tomatoes) and was the first of three films in the franchise so far which also spawned a spin-off.

I absolutely love this and it just missed my top 20 so I'm glad to see this finish really high, and higher than I expected as well! The characters are so good & I love the voice acting as well and the story is fab and packed with humour & heart <3 A childhood fave wub.gif

15. Up

934pts | 2009 | USA | Pixar
Top 20's: JONJO #4, BRIGHTPLACES #5, TAYLOR #6, JACOB #14, JAHQ #15, CHEZ #16, SEVEN #16, HARRY #18

Up is a 2009 Pixar film which was the 10th film from the studio. It tells the story of an elderly widower (Carl) and a young Wilderness Explorer (Russell. By tying thousands of balloons to his home, Carl sets out to fulfill his dream to see the wilds of South America and complete a promise made to his late wife, Ellie.

Up was Pixar's first film to be presented in Disney Digital 3-D and opened the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, therefore becoming the first animated and first 3D film to do so. It was a massive box office success earning $735m worldwide & it is the 5th highest grossing Pixar film, 6th biggest film of 2009 and the 19th biggest animated film of all time. The film was critically acclaimed and has a score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes and Up won two Oscars for Best Animated Film & Best Original Score, as well as being the 2nd of 3 animated films to be nominated for Best Picture & scoring Screenplay & sound noms. The film won the same two awards at the Golden Globes, received the Golden Tomato for the best rated film of 2009 on RT.

I actually expected this to be top 10, possibly even top 5 so I'm quite surprised it fell short by over 100 points ohmy.gif I adore Up and it is another perfect animated film <3 Of course the highlight is the iconic Carl/Ellie montage at the start of the film which I still always cry to. Also iirc this was the last Pixar film to get a ridiculously long delay in England, with it coming out in October when it was released in May in America!!

14. The Simpsons Movie

937pts | 2007 | USA | 20th Century Fox
Top 20's: JOSH #2, JAHQ #7, MACK #7, DALEKTURRET #13, HARRY #13, REGINA #15, UV #16

The Simpsons Movie is the 2007 film based on the iconic television show. It tells the story of Homer, whose irresponsibility gets the better of him when he pollutes the lake in Springfield after the town has cleaned it up following receipt of a warning from the Environmental Protection Agency. As the townspeople exile him and eventually his family abandons him, Homer works to redeem his folly by stopping Russ Cargill, the head of the EPA, when he intends to destroy Springfield. The film also featured cameo appearances from Green Day & Tom Hanks.

Although previous attempts to create a Simpsons film had been made, they failed due to the lack of a script of appropriate length and production crew members. The script was re-written over a hundred times, and this creativity continued after the animation had begun in 2006. The film's premiere was held with a yellow carpet instead of the traditional red carpet & the film had a massive marketing campaign with many promotional tie-ins. The film received great reviews with an 88% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes & was a massive box office hit grossing over $527m worldwide, the 8th biggest film of 2007! It was nominated for Best Animation at the Globes/BAFTA's but was snubbed at the Oscars. There have been talks of a sequel but nothing has materialised yet!

This basically finished where I would have ranked it & this is an all time classic for me, I can't believe this is over 10 years old now eek ohmy.gif I remember seeing this on opening day and I was so hyped for it *.* Spider Pig is still iconic and the characters were fab as ever, as well as the plot working great and being really well done <3 A fabulous adaptation of an incredible TV show heart.gif

Posted by: Josh! Sep 14 2017, 03:10 PM

The Simpsons move is a big favourite of mine. I absolutely love the TV series anyway but the jokes in this were hilarious and I remember watching it all the time once it was released on DVD. I haven't watched it in a couple of years now but I bet I could still recall most of it word for word heehee.gif wub.gif

Up is decent but definitely not one of my favourite Pixar films. I know that Carl is an intentionally unlikable sort of character but I just found it difficult to watch him and actually enjoy it because he was so grumpy laugh.gif

Posted by: DalekTurret32 Sep 14 2017, 04:26 PM

Need to rewatch Up.
Madagascar and The Simpsons Movie were great.

13. Wreck-It Ralph

954pts | 2012 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: CAMERON #4, CODY #4, JOSH #7, DALEKTURRET #8, JACOB #8, JONJO #9, CHEZ #13, TAYLOR #16, JAHQ #20

Wreck-It Ralph tells the story of Ralph, a villain in an arcade video game,
who wants nothing more than to be as loved as Fix-It Felix (the "good guy" in the same video game). Ralph goes on a quest to other games in order to win a medal but things take a turn for the worse and he has to work with Vanellope von Schweetz to prevent breaking all of the arcade games.

Wreck-It Ralph was a big box office success, making $471 million worldwide (a good number but still lower than other recent Disney flicks including Big Hero 6, Moana & Tangled!). It was also a critical success scoring a score of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes and being nominated for the animated category at the Oscars where it lost to Pixar's Brave.

It took me until around 2015 to even see this but now I regard it as one of my favourite Disney films of all-time. It's very charming but also really cool to see the video game characters interacting and mingling between each other. I'm glad this has placed so high because it does seem underrated in comparison to the other recent Disney offerings such as Frozen and Zootopia cry.gif

I'M GONNA WRECK IT!

12. Chicken Run

958pts | 2000 | UK | Aardman Animations
Top 20's: JAHQ #3, MACK #4, TAYLOR #7, JACOB #10, SEVEN #13, CHEZ #17, DALEKTURRET #18, FROOT #18

Chicken Run tells the story of a group of chickens who face imminent death on a chicken farm when they decide to rebel against the farm owners and try to escape before it is too late.

Chicken Run was made by British animation studio Aardman Animations and the stop-motion clay animation style may look familiar to some as they are also the studio behind Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep.
The cast features many celebrity voices including Mel Gibson, Imelda Staunton, Timothy Spall and Miranda Richardson (a lot of the Harry Potter cast laugh.gif).

I was not expecting this to finish so high here at all but it seems that a lot of people enjoyed this during their childhood. I'm pretty sure I've only seen this once as a child so I don't really remember it much at all. I definitely wouldn't have it this high in a personal countdown of mine ohmy.gif

11. Toy Story 2

1063pts | 1999 | USA | Pixar
Top 20's: FROOT #2, MACK #3, HAUS #4, CODY #8, DALEKTURRET #10, TAYLOR #10, CHEZ #12, SEVEN #14, JONJO #17, UV #20

In Toy Story 2, Woody is stolen by a toy collector and the other toys must unite in order to rescue him. Woody is unsure on going back to Andy when he finds out he is a popular TV character and is reunited with his old co-stars.

Toy Story 2 was a successful sequel making more money that its predecessor and made the way for the even more successful Toy Story 3. It was also a success with critics scoring a score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. The song "When She Loved Me" sung by Randy Newman from this film was nominated for an Oscar in the original song category where it lost to "You'll Be in My Heart" from Tarzan.

I've made my thought on Toy Story pretty clear in the past but I re-watched this last year and thought it was pretty decent although I still would rank it near the bottom of the Pixar pile.

Posted by: DalekTurret32 Sep 15 2017, 07:16 PM

Chicken Run and Toy Story 2 are both great films.

The former I remember watching on CBBC back in April 2011. My favourite part was the pie factory scene.
The latter I remember watching in Greek back when I was in Year 2. I saw it in English on TV a few years later.

top 10 will commence later tonight so last chance to predict! x

10. WALL.E

1078pts | 2008 | USA | Pixar
Top 20's: JONJO #2, UV #3, DALEKTURRET #6, CODY #11, HAUS #11, MACK #15, BRIGHTPLACES #16, HARRY #17, CHEZ #20

Kicking off the top 10 is modern masterpiece WALL.E which follows a trash compactor robot in a deserted world, left to clean a largely abandoned city. However, he is visited by a probe sent by the Axiom ship, whom he falls in love with and pursues across the galaxy.

WALL.E was unique for its minimal dialogue throughout the film and takes a stand against environmental problems. The film was an instant blockbuster and grossed over $530m worldwide & won an Oscar for Best Animated Film, as well as scoring 5 other nominations! The film was famously snubbed from Best Pic alongside The Dark Knight and is thought of one of the main reasons (though not as much as a main factor as TDK's snubbing) as to why the Best Picture line-up expanded! The film was named one of the best of 2008 by AFI and has a 96% approval rating on RT & won many critic awards + TIME named it the best film of the decade.

This is the ultimate original Pixar movie for me and such an important and incredible movie to me, it's probs my 3rd fave film ever let alone my 3rd fave animation film! The characters of WALL.E & Eve are incredible and are beyond cute, the minimalistic dialogue work so well with the film and it is interesting, stunning visually and raises so many important themes. This film kept me captivated and hooked and is one of the films that rly ignited my passion for films <3 A modern masterpiece. (also can we talk about how this was released on my birthday as well *.* Best film ever released on my birthday easily!!)

Posted by: Josh! Oct 7 2017, 08:12 PM

I'm definitely due a re-watch of Wall-E really. I've only seen it bits and pieces since it was first released and I think I was a bit too young to properly appreciate it when I was 9 years old. I liked it a lot but I've always had it in the middle of my Pixar rankings as I found it less exciting as a child compared to stuff like The Incredibles & Monsters, Inc. Probably wouldn't have it this high in a personal countdown of my own but I'll definitely have to watch it again soon.

09. Toy Story 3

1089pts | 2010 | USA | Pixar
Top 20's: UV #1, HAUS #3, DALEKTURRET #5, FROOT #5, HARRY #6, JONJO #7, CHEZ #9, JAHQ #9, TAYLOR #11, JACOB #18, SEVEN #18

Into 9th we have another Pixar flick in the form of another modern masterpiece, Toy Story 3 which is the 2nd highest Toy Story film here. The plot focuses on the toys dealing with an uncertain future as Andy prepares to leave for college.

TS3 was the third installment to date in the Toy Story franchise and was released 11 years after the 2nd film. The film received critical acclaim & was the 3rd animated movie to score a Best Picture Oscar nomination and scored 5 noms in total; it won original song & animated feature! TS3 grossed over $1 billion WW & was the highest grossing film of 2010 + the 4th highest grossing film ever at time of release. In the UK it broke the record for the largest first day ever for an animated feature in sales revenue, on both DVD and Blu-ray. Additionally, on the first day of its iTunes release, it immediately became the most downloaded Disney film ever. TS3 was the first ever animated film to pass $1b worldwide and is the 6th highest grossing film of all time in the UK. The film has a 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes and was the best reviewed film of 2010 & won a Grammy, Golden Globe & Bafta. A sequel is set to be released in 2019. (Hype *.*)

And we go from the film that used to be my favourite film ever in 10th to the film that replaced it in that spot in 9th. Toy Story 3 is my favourite film of all time & is an incredible masterpiece. This is one of those rare sequels that is somehow better than the flawless originals and takes it above and beyond. The characters are incredible as ever & the story is so good, and the end is heartbreaking I was in tears for ages after seeing the film!! Just an utterly perfect masterpiece that should've won this.

We all know my thoughts about the Toy Story franchise but this is probably the best offering of them all for me. Lotso was a great villain (completely despicable and makes the audience despise a cuddly bear which is hard to do) but it certainly wouldn't be this high on my own list...

WALL-E and Toy Story 3. Both excellent films

08. The Lion King

1129pts | 1994 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: HAUS #1, CHEZ #2, CODY #3, JACOB #3, UV #4, JONJO #5, MACK #6, JOSH #8, HARRY #9, FROOT #10, SEVEN #11

Into 8th we have the final non-Pixar Disney film in the form of all time classic 'The Lion King', which I thought was going to win this! ohmy.gif

The Lion King is the 32nd Disney animated feature film and was part of the original Disney Renaissance. The song were composed by Elton John & the story takes place in a kingdom of lions in Africa and was influenced by Hamlet. The film tells the story of Simba who challenges Scar to end his tyranny and take his place in the Circle of Life as the rightful King after Scar's murder of Mufasa. TLK was the highest grossing film of 1994, the 2nd highest of all time on release, the highest traditional animated film & has grossed $968m worldwide after the 3D re-release. The film's first trailer was the entire opening sequence of the Circle of Life and received enthusiastic reactions from audiences and upon release, was accompanied by a massive maarketing campaign and Disney earned $1 billion with products based on the film in 1994. The Lion King earned a rare A+ cinema score and has a 91% rating on RT + received 4 Golden Globes & Oscar noms. The film won Golden Globes for Best Picture (musical or comedy) & Score and Oscars for Score + Can You Feel The Love Tonight. The AFI named this the 4th best animated film of all time and The Lion King has received some direct-to-DVD sequels and a live action version is coming out in 2019! The Lion King has ofc also had a massive stage adaptation which is breathtakingly wonderful. And how could we go without mentioning the music from Circle of Life to Hakuna Matana, this film created movie classics for the ages <3

So here we have another film in my top four going out this early in the top 10 sad.gif The Lion King is a masterpiece for all ages and is one of my favourite films of all time. The film has held a special place in my heart ever since I was little and every aspect of the film is perfect. I love the story, the characters, the animation and the music and it was a complete moment getting to experience this on the big-screen for the first ever time during the 3D re-release. There is a reason why this is regarded as one of the best animated films ever & I am gutted this missed the top 5 here.

Posted by: Jo...shh! It's coming Oct 23 2017, 10:15 AM

Shocked!! I really was expecting that to finish in the top three at least.

I do love it (the songs especially are some of the best ever Disney tracks) but I must admit that I would rather watch a fair few Disney Princess films before watching that. The stampede scene still gets me every time though cry.gif

07. Frozen

1187pts | 2013 | USA | Disney
Top 20's: UV #2, SEVEN #6, BRIGHTPLACES #8, MACK #9, CODY #10, TAYLOR #13, REGINA #14, IZ #15, JAHQ #18, JOSH #19

Into 7th we have the final non-Pixar Disney film in the form of all time classic 'Frozen' (cos I forgot Frozen was Disney so Lion King wasn't the highest messT), which should also be higher!

Frozen is the 53rd Disney animated feature film and is part of the new Disney Renaissance that's still on-going. The song were composed by Robert & Kristen Anderson-Lopez , the film tells the story of a fearless princess who sets off on a journey to find her estranged sister, whose icy powers have inadvertently trapped the kingdom in eternal winter, and was influenced by The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen. Frozen went under many story treatments, with obviously one of the biggest changes being turning Elsa from a villain into a hero. The film premiered at the Capitan Theatre and is critically acclaimed by critics & audiences. The film was also a GIGANTIC success, grossing $1.3 billion WW (including $400m in US which was one of my favourite ever box office runs to occur, seeing how it just kept to continue to outgross expectations), also including $247m in Japan which makes it the 3rd highest grossing film ever there. Frozen is the highest grossing animated film of all time, 3rd highest original film of all time, highest of 2013 and 9th highest of all films. The film sold over 18 million home media sales in 2014, making it the best-selling film of the year in the US and by January 2015 Frozen became the all-time best-selling Blu-Ray ever in the US. Frozen won two Oscars in Animated Feature & Original Song (for Let It Go ofc) and was snubbed in Best Picture, won Golden Globe & BAFTA for animation, 5 Annie's and 2 Grammy's. The film has had an everlasting impact with two short sequels so far, a proper sequel in 2019 and a Broadway adaptation. The films voice cast includes Kristen Bell, Josh Gad & Idina Menzel *.* A sing-a-long version was released in 2014 in cinemas (it was so much fun *.*) and is critically acclaimed with 89% on RT. Frozen's cultural impact since release is INSANE, it is still EVERYWHERE. Let It Go was a massive smash hit worldwide, peaking at #5 in the US and #11 in the UK on multiple occassions, but finishing top 10 in the end of year charts, only Idina could do that *.* I could write about this film forever but I'm gonna stop there, this film really broke so many records and boundaries and I'd recommend y'all to read up on it again and just see how much of a monster Frozen was. <3

So here we have ANOTHER FILM IN MY TOP 4 GOING OUT THIS EARLY IN THE TOP 10 sad.gif wtf have I cursed all my faves or something??!! Frozen is my 2nd favourite film of all time and is a modern masterpiece and is just perfection. The characters are incredible and well thought out, I adore the story and the plot twist was so incredible and the message of the story meant so much to me whilst I was growing up. I saw this 4 times in the cinema and about 150 times since, an all time true classic. And ofc the music is perfection, from 2nd best song of all time musical masterpiece slaying your faves 'Let It Go' to Snowman & Forever and everything else made this soundtrack iconic. An everlasting classic that I could watch 24/7 and is still ugh sfg <3 <3

06. Monsters, Inc

1209pts | 2001 | USA | Pixar
Top 20's: FROOT #1, JAHQ #1, HARRY #2, SEVEN #7, TAYLOR #8, JOSH #10, BRIGHTPLACES #12, JONJO #12, CHEZ #15, DALEKTURRET #15, SEVERIN #16

You've all probably seen Monsters, Inc before but it's about two monsters (Mike & Sully) who are part of a team that scare children and collect their screams in order to power their community. A child gets through into the monster world and they realise that humans may not be toxic like they have been told.

It is a hugely popular film both box office and review wise and I imagine is a childhood fave for many people here on the site. It won the Oscar for Best Original Song for "If I Didn't Have You" and was nominated for a further three Oscars. It also still stands in IMDb's Top 250 films of all-time list at #225.

This is personally one of my favourite Pixar films so I'm glad it has finished so high here even beating out Toy Story 3 which I didn't expect. Monsters University was unfortunately not as well received but I really enjoyed that too, I would love for them to make a third film based on these characters wub.gif

Ahh. 'Wall E' is one of the most stunning films of all time. It's phenomenal. I saw it 6 times at the cinema! I'm just so happy it went top 10 coz I was unsure as to where it would be!

'Toy Story 3' is fantastic too. So fun and emotional!

'The Lion King' is an all time fave too. The soundtrack is sublime

'Frozen' I can take it or leave it nowadays tbh. I've really worn it out with my niece haha. 'Let It Go' is a masterpiece though.

'Monsters Inc.' is so good too. Not the best Pixar film, but a brilliant addition to the collection.

Ew at any of the Shrek movies making top 10. Possibly the most overrated animated movie(s) of all time.

Monsters Inc is an all time fave but personally I wouldn't have it top 10 ohmy.gif

05. Finding Nemo

1267pts | 2003 | USA | Pixar
Top 20's: CODY #1, HARRY #1, JONJO #1, JAHQ #2, MACK #2, FROOT #3, SEVERIN #7, CHEZ #10, JACOB #13, BRIGHTPLACES #14, JOSH #16, SEVEN #19

A young clownfish named Nemo is captured and his father must embark on a journey to find him and bring him home...

This remains one of the biggest Pixar films at the box office even now despite being 14 years old now. It is also a #167 in IMDb's top 250 films of all-time list and won the Oscar for Best Animated Film! ohmy.gif

Another Pixar movie dropping out sad.gif I think I slightly prefer Monsters, Inc actually but this is obviously such a classic and has some of my favourite animated characters of all time in it (Dory especially wub.gif). Finding Dory wasn't as good unfortunately but this remains one of the best ever animated films as voted by Buzzjack *.*

04. Shrek 2

1278pts | 2004 | USA | Dreamworks
Top 20's: SEVEN #2, TAYLOR #2, BRIGHTPLACES #3, CODY #6, JAHQ #6, CAMERON #9, IZ #9, CHEZ #11, MACK #11, FROOT #12, DALEK TURRET #14, JACOB #16

Shrek 2 tells the story of newlyweds Shrek & Fiona who travel to Far Far Away so that Shrek can meet the parents for the first time. Shrek and the King don't exactly get on well and Shrek also has to deal with Prince Charming trying to steal the heart of Fiona.

The film made $919,838,758 worldwide at the Box Office and remains the biggest Shrek film to date. The hype was massive coming from the first film and it opened massively in most major markets. The film was also nominated in the Best Song category at the Oscars as well as Best Animated Film where it lost to The Incredibles.

I have definitely seen this film and it was a big childhood favourite of mine but I don't really remember it that well nowadays. I haven't seen it in well over a decade so my memory of it is a little rusty and it probably wouldn't be anywhere near this high on a personal countdown of mine. My favourite Shrek film is actually Shrek Forever After ohmy.gif

My number one and two out after the other sad.gif

Toy Story, Shrek and Inside Out remaining.

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 25 2017, 08:53 PM

As f***ing IF the first two Shrek films beat out all those Disney classics!? puke.gif

Will never get or understand the obsession in all honesty! Literally triggered BOTH of them beat Finding Nemo!! mellow.gif

I feel sick and disgusted. cry.gif

Posted by: Cursed Wombat Oct 25 2017, 09:28 PM

Finding Nemo didn't win this? It seems to always win every rate it's part of here! ohmy.gif Classic film nonetheless, Lion King only 8th is DESPICABLE though and as much as I love Shrek 2 it's far far too high and I don't think the original rlly deserves the title.

#3 coming up now! Any predictions?

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 25 2017, 10:50 PM

Hopefully Shrek, but I think Inside Out will fall just short, due to being newer and people maybe thinking "it's too soon yo put it so high" etc..

03. Toy Story

1281pts | 1995 | USA | Pixar
Top 20's: CHEZ #1, MACK #1, HAUS #2, JACOB #5, TAYLOR #5, UV #5, SEVERIN #6, HARRY #7, JONJO #8, DALEKTURRET #9, FROOT #11, SEVEN #12, BRIGHTPLACES #19

Into 3rd and we have the first ever computer-animated film and an all time classic 'Toy Story', which beats Shrek 2 by 3 points to secure bronze position!

Toy Story is the first feature-length computer-animated film and the first Pixar film and the film takes place in a world where anthropomorphic toys pretend to be lifeless whenever humans are present. Pixar was approached by Disney to produce a computer-animated feature after the success of their short film Tin Toy. Toy Story earned over $373m at the worldwide box office and was praised for its technical innovation, wit and thematic sophistication of the screenplay + the voice performances! It is considered by many to be one of the best animations ever and scored 3 Oscar nominations (Screenplay, Score, Song for the ICONIC You've Got A Friend In Me <3). It's been inducted into the National Film Registry and has been re-released in cinemas in 3D, had two massive sequels with another upcoming and has sold loads of merchandise ever since release! The film had many marketing deals and is critically acclaimed with 100% on RT. Toy Story is one of two animated films to make AFI's top 100 films ever and won 8 Annie awards! Toy Story is also among the top ten in the BFI list of the 50 films you should see by the age of 14, and the highest-placed (at No. 99) animated film in Empire magazine's list of "500 Greatest Movie of All Time". The importance of the film and the impact has been everlasting, after Toy Story debuted it inspired many industries to become interested in the technology and led to game developments, robotics and computer animation in film all being possible. The catchphrase 'to infinity and beyond' has remained iconic and has been used amongst children, philosophers and mathematical theorists on regular occasions. An impactful classic *.*

Toy Story is the highest film of mine that I placed in my top 5 *.* It is so obvious why this is a classic and still remains hugely impactful for children everywhere today. The storyline is incredible, the concept is genius and the film's screenplay completely shines and allows us to fall in love with Woody, Buzz and co and creates an iconic set of characters that'll be remembered and loved (unless your Sid who scared tf out of me when I was younger). I absolutely adore toys so this film resonated with me so much and the impact this film has had on the film industry and in general is incredible. Such a worthy film placing in the top 3 <3

INSIDE OUT vs. SHREK

Hints for the top 2:
- A runaway top 2, 2nd place is over 100pts ahead of Toy Story ohmy.gif
- Only FOUR points separate the top 2 ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

Who's won? You predict, me and Josh will reveal!

Great stuff so far tho, Shrek 2 snatching weaves in the Top 5 <333 great film and my favourite one of that series probably

either Inside Out or Shrek 1 would be a really good winner so no complaints!

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 26 2017, 11:21 AM

I was expecting 'Toy Story' to win! Wtf? mellow.gif

I can't believe it ONLY JUST (ONLY. JUST) beat 'Shrek 2'! What horrendous results. I very much doubt that IO will win. drama.gif

Inside Out is a 2015 film from Pixar. It tells the story of a teenage girl named Riley and the different emotions in her mind and how they react to a new city and environment.

It was a huge box office success ending up as the 7th highest grossing movie worldwide in 2015 as well as great reviews from critics with it having 98% on Rotten Tomatoes and winning the Oscar for Best Animated Film as well as scoring a nomination for Original Screenplay too ohmy.gif It's also at #137 on IMDb's best films of all-time list.

I'm super shocked this came so high actually as it does seem a bit recent to be labelled as the second best animated film of ALL-TIME but after seeing the winner, I kind of wish it won tbh. This is my favourite Pixar film of them all and is way better than anything that Dreamworks have done so I'm a lil bit gutted it couldn't go the whole way sad.gif

(check the post above for full results!! f*** knows what I've done laugh.gif)

01. Shrek

1403pts | 2001 | USA | Dreamworks
Top 20's: TAYLOR #3, CHEZ #4, CAMERON #5, HARRY #5, JACOB #6, UV #6, SEVEN #8, BRIGHTPLACES #9, MACK #10, JAHQ #11, DALEKTURRET #17, IZ #17, FROOT #20

And the winner here is also the first ever film to win Best Animated Feature at the Oscars, its the iconic 'Shrek' ofc. <3

Shrek is an animated fantasy film based on William Steig's 1990 fairy tale picture book of the same name and voices include Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, and John Lithgow. The film serves as a parody of other films adapted from numerous fairy tales, mainly animated Disney films. The film focuses on an ogre named Shrek who finds his swamp overrun by fairy tale creatures who have been banished there by order of the evil Lord Farquaad. In order to get his swamp back, Shrek makes a deal with Farquaad to bring him a queen in exchange for the deed for his swamp. Shrek sets out with a talking Donkey and rescues Princess Fiona. While they take Fiona to Farquaad so she can marry him, Shrek starts to fall in love with the princess and soon discovers a shocking secret about her. When DreamWorks studio was founded, the film was put quickly into development and originally starred Chris Farley as Shrek but he died in 1997 after recording 80/90% of his dialogue. Nicholas Cage also rejected the role originally as he didn't want to look like an ogre. The film was originally planned to be motion-captured but was changed to animation after poor results. Shrek established DreamWorks as a competitor to Pixar, it grossed $484.4m worldwide against a $60m budget and captured the attention of children- with the simple plot & humour- as well as adults- with the themes & adult-oriented jokes. Shrek won the first ever Oscar for Best Animated Feature and was also nominated for Adapted Screenplay! The film scored six BAFTA noms including Eddie Murphy in Supporting Actor and the film has spun 3 sequels to date, two holiday specials and a spin-off. The film has also inspired merchandise, video games, a stage musical (which slays), a shrek adventures in London (which slays), 'Shrek is love Shrek is life', a comic book adaptation and Shrek also has a star on Hollywood's Walk Of Fame! The film's soundtrack is also iconic (All Star and I'm A Believer still bop today *.*) and Radio Disney was told not to allow any ads for the film to air on the station, stating, "Due to recent initiatives with The Walt Disney Company, we are being asked not to align ourselves promotionally with this new release Shrek. Shrek received universal acclaim with 88% rating on RT and Entertainment Weekly put it on their End of the Decade List + it was nominated for picture musical/comedy at the Golden Globes! In June 2008, the American Film Institute revealed its "Ten top Ten"; the best ten films in ten "classic" American film genres, Shrek was acknowledged as the eighth best film in the animated genre, and the only non-Disney·Pixar film in the Top 10. Shrek was also ranked second in a Channel 4 poll of the "100 Greatest Family Films", losing out on the top spot to E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and in 2005, Shrek came sixth in Channel 4's 100 Greatest Cartoons poll. The film was also entered to the 2001 Cannes Film Festival and was the first film since Peter Pan in 1953 to do so! The film influenced more pop culture references and end-film musical numbers becoming a trend in animated flicks.

So here's our winner and considering this just missed my top 5, I'm pretty happy with Shrek winning! This is the film I have seen the most ever, I have definitely seen it at least over 100+ times (when I was younger they would always play this when I was at the hospital). I love Shrek so much and it's easy to see why this still has such a good legacy, it's so funny & the script slays, the voice performances and animated are incredible and it is a joy watching this film. Also Gingy>>>>>>the rest of the characters. I watched this whilst I was on holiday last year and it still holds up so well, an animated classic and a worthy winner *.*

Shrek is also the only film in the top 10 that nobody put in their top 2 despite winning!!!!! ohmy.gif

And here we are, finished the results for this pretty much exactly a year later!!!! Soz it took so bloody long but we got it done yasss *.*

Shrek's number one.

Some-BODY ONCE TOLD ME THE WORLD WAS GONNA ROLL ME
I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed
She was lookin' kinda dumb with a finger and a thumb
in the shape of an L on her forehead
Well!
The years start coming and they don't stop coming
Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running
Didn't it make sense not to live for fun
Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb
So much to do so much to see so what's wrong with taking the backstreets
You'll never know if you don't go (I'm a rockstar)
You'll never shine if you don't glow

Hey now, you're an all star
Get your game on, go play.

ohmy.gif I actually didn't think Shrek would manage it, but it does make sense considering how many love it on here! It is a great film, perfect humour for all ages and it's easy to forget how original and clever it was at the time. Still makes me laugh today. Inside Out probably doesn't deserve a win yet, but it's certainly a modern classic and one of the most important animated films of the last few years for me.

Thanks for running this and getting there eventually Sam! (Horror will be resuming probably tonight and hopefully finishing soon too yay).

Erm how can a non-Disney/Pixar film win a countdown for Top Animated Film of all-time? sleep.gif

It is a brilliantly clever film though and very orginal before they rinsed it for all it was worth. It’s so odd to see a franchise go downhill so quickly when the second film was actually as good, if not better than the original!

Brilliant to see Inside Out so high up, very unexpected but very deserved even considering its recency. It’s an absolutely perfect film that has a load of fun and brings a whole load of ideas to the table whilst also having a really serious and important aspect to it.

Thanks guys for this!
