The AI one sounds super fun! I had a look on the site last night to see how easy it would be and it genuinely couldn't be more simple. It might even be more fun if we have a random list of topics that are then assigned to each participant and that's got to be what the lyrics of the song are based on

Would love the AI one too. I've potentially already got a basic song ready that I made with Suno a few weeks back but it definitely needs some Audacity tinkering.

For what it’s worth, it’s occurred to me for some time that BJSC mods don’t take an interest in spin-offs anymore, so if one of these excellent ideas that ones have had were to take off, someone has to actually take the initiative to get them started as it’s not looking like a BJSC mod will give a green light for it anytime soon.
AI sounds interesting and I’ve no idea what to do but if Lindsey says it can be done I’ll give it a try at least. |

AI wasn't my idea! Colm is the mastermind behind that
The Spin-Off forum has pretty much always been a corner of the forum for participants to take control of, the mods have enough going on month to month with vetos etc and we've also got a mod hosted main contest currently as well. It was different when one mod focussed on the spin off forum. The sub forum can be a little hidden at times as well so unless something is getting massive response it's easy for it to slip through the cracks. I think if you're really passionate about hosting something then a PM pitch to the mods is the way to go, especially if you already know there's interest from this thread. Ideas are one thing but willing hosts are another. I have some free time coming up before I start my new job mid May so I'll happily host something then if there's demand, just fling ideas at me otherwise I will just do another pride edition since it's that time of year |

This is a more community driven part of the forum and if there was actually a concrete plan and idea and host on the table, it would have been green lit. Alas it’s still all theoretical until someone (not you) actually volunteers to host |

I’m not volunteering to host as I know where you stand on this but to be clear if a volunteer was needed I would at least try to help in some way as I do with everything else I do on BuzzJack. No attitude in that statement to be clear. |

Wb masquerade pride? We all confirm an entry and then it gets muddled around, an extra point for every correct guess you make when submitting your final votes for who sent what (obviously can't put your own song) or they don't even need to be muddled, can just be anon

The way the discovery of this Sumo app has changed my life, I’m gonna procrastinate so hard on this.

Just had a couple of spin-off ideas: Collaboration Everyone is drawn to collaborate on choosing an entry with another country, the randomness of the selection would make it fun as two possibly very different countries collaborate on an entry that they both like. The winning duo would be declared joint winners of the spin-off. Would there be any interest for this idea? I have some time this month and early nexth month so I would be happy to host the contest if gooddelta does not mind (seeing as this was his idea in the first place!) |

I'd be happy for you to host that, if there is interest in the idea. I've always thought it could be fun to work with someone else on finding an entry that suits both your tastes.
Not sure how voting would work logistically though. Would you vote individually, but neither of you vote for your entry (and would the non-voter deduction have to be bigger)? Or you could vote in pairs if you come to a consensus on the other entries and do an average ranking. |

Or you could vote in pairs if you come to a consensus on the other entries and do an average ranking. Maybe to avoid the deduction issue and get more entries in the contest the pairs could instead of collaborating on one entry, they could collaborate on two. As in finding two entries that share a 'similarity' (example: both are in serbian, both were released in 1995 or they have similarites lyrically) - one representing each nation. Therefore, everyone votes indivdually and in case of a deduction the entry representing the non-voter gets deducted while the partner suffers no consequences. The collab part would only last for the confirmation part of the contest which I think might be for the best since people have different schedules and might not be able to commit to commun listenthroughs with their partner. I do feel like if I were to go forward with two-entrants-one-entry I would still want for everyone to vote indivdually - just to avoid a scenario where the pair can not get to a consensus on the entries or one person in the pair not finding time to listen and therefore not being represented in the votes. |

What if we combined the two ideas and people had to create an AI song in their pairs? Can still do individual voting as well
